hey everyone so this is Brunswick stew is
how you make Brunswick stew is getting
cold outside the color looking at sub 30
degrees which are some of you guys are
thinking
yeah okay not really big deal but for us
in North Carolina you were getting into
a position where snow is on the way so
we're going to do a Brunswick stew is
the crockpot recipe it's really simple
the whole purpose of it is that you wake
up a little bit early for the day you
get everything put your crock-pot and
you leave for work you come home and
it's done purpose of the crockpot
this particular stew there's really no
time limit
there are going to be some recipes say that
you know eight hours nine hours four
hours
look it doesn't really matter put it on
low and leave it just make sure there's
moisture in the pot you'll be fine
the longer actually longer it sits the
more time that the flavors have to blend
all right so and makes it better
traditional bruswick stew you
bring stuff in from the field right
before and you cant can it because
there's not enough of it and it's
getting to that time we're all right
we're going to be cutting the field down
so we're going to bring all the leftover
stuff and bring it in and put into a
stew typically it's vegetable stew or
vegetable soup you add me to it now it's
Brunswick stew so we're using chicken
for ours
alright you can use ground pork you can
use ground beef
you can mix up a bunch of these together
really is not a big deal just put
something in there so our base is going
to be tomatoes for again traditional you
bring in tomatoes from the field for us
to use canned tomatoes because they're
readily available and can tomatoes
really make it a good base
these are diced and so you go chopped up
into small pieces so we use a couple of
cans of these this is why it's and
coubbard going to use corn both the whole
kernel and the creamed corn because
creamed corn has more of a sweeter taste
to it we're going to use lima beans that
gives you something really bite down and
actually gives you a decent amount of
protein
I've got some corn that was left in the
freezer for about a couple of months
back so it's really not that big a deal
and then of course we're going to
chicken that's gonna be your base is
going to be the majority of it now we've
got our taste modifiers we're going to
put in some some Worcestershire sauce
what this is gonna do is gonna add
someone of a smoky flavor to it we're
going to put in some ketchup so it's
gonna add a little bit more of a sweet
taste to it
hot sauce we know the reason for that
and BBQ sauce I've got this one sitting
here because it's ready to go but
barbecue sauce to add that different
flavor to it
so what we're gonna do is just gonna
open all this stuff up and get into the
pot
alright so we've got everything portion
down and ready to go out my crock-pot
and getting warm one of the first things
that I did was just cut up the chicken
to where it's gonna cook a lot faster
and then cut down a lot quicker you can
also throw just the regular chunks in
there just read the whole breast in
there and then take them out later on
and shredding the two forks this seems
just about it easy so i'm gonna go ahead
and put that in and then we're just
going to add all the rest ingredients so
that's one can and two cans of diced
tomatoes a can of whole corn with this
frozen thing of corn creamed corn
lima beans and you don't have to cook
them or thaw them or anything like
that they're ready to go worcestershire sauce that's
just a couple of you know glugs of it
some hot sauce that's just there's no
real amount of how much hot sauce
whatever you're comfortable with half a
cup of ketchup and half a cup of
barbecue sauce and that's pretty much it
now you just get in there stir it around
a little bit and let it go
like I said just leave it on low and
just how long you want to leave it in
there I'm gonna have it set for eight hours so
that it turns off on its own
now if you are in the mindset that ok
what if that snow storm comes in and
what if it knocks out power
alright so what I'm gonna do is I'm
gonna leave this and cook it today
tomorrow is when the snows one should be
hitting I've got my Dutch oven and my
this is a wonderful buy great
its from Lodge
if you're looking to buy a good
Dutch oven just look down the
description and they'll be a link to
amazon just go ahead and buy your
12-inch lodge
here's how you work this thing go
outside make you a fire just get some
firewood your fire pit together and
start your fire let it burn down to
coals then you're basically just going
to sit this down in it
this guy's legs on it so you're gonna
stuff the coals underneath here you're
gonna take some cold and you're gonna
put it on top
remember this is frozen you're gonna
take this one spinach and freeze it
what's left over for another meal take
it and just dump all that in here
close it up put your coals on top and
let it sit for a couple hours that coals
gonna basically warm this
up warm that up and you'll have a good
meal that you've already cooked ready to
go you know how good it tastes you how
feeling it is it's ready to go in your
in your Dutch oven and you had another
me a hot meal is important
well there's a power outage so with that
