Waching daily Dec 21 2018

Emergency alarms and Bells will go off, tv and radio stations will cut off their programmes,

the stock exchange will close, people will go home, sporting events will be scrapped,

newsreader will dress in black, RAF will be grounded, parliament will be hastily reconvene

- the whole country will come to a halt, it will feel no less than a national emergency.

And this all will begin with a single code-phrase - LONDON BRIDGE IS DOWN.

It's been 66 years since the death of a monarch in Britain and accession of a new one.

King George VI died in 1952 making Queen Elizabeth II the new Queen and she has been holding

the throne since then.

At an age if 92, she is not only the longest reigning monarch in the history of Britain

but the most loved one too, three of last four UK's prime ministers were born AFTER

she came to the throne and most of living world population has seen only one queen on

the throne for all of their life, which makes her absence an unimaginable thought.

As the law of nature dictates, her reign must end with her unfortunate demise sometime in

future and when this happens this will mark as the biggest event of the 21st century.

Britain will lose the last living link with its former greatness and the country will

use this occasion to revisit its glory once again.

The Royal Palace has been preparing for this day since the 1960s, under the codename of

"Operation London Bridge", and there have been meetings several times a year behind

closed doors to refine the details.

The particulars of this grandest plan had remained a closely kept secret until Sam Knight,

a journalist for The Guardian newspaper, interviewed dozens of people involved, with a promise

of confidentiality.

Everything down to the last minute is carefully planned to give Queen Elizabeth a farewell

of the kind the world has never seen, and most probably will never see again.

So, watch till the end and let me know your thoughts in the comment section below.

In finals hours, the queen will be with her family and a team of doctors led by the queen's

senior doctor, Professor Huw Thomas.

He'll constantly monitor her health and also consider what information should be made public.

People will be notified about queen's health at a regular interval until the last bulletin

which may read something like this - "The Queen's life is moving peacefully towards

its close" as it happened in case of George V.

George V's doctor then injected him with 750 mg of morphine and a gram of cocaine - enough

to kill him twice over - primarily to ease the monarch's suffering and give him a peaceful

quick death in time for printing presses of the times, which rolled at midnight.

It's expected the Queen's doctor will do the same.

The moment queen closes her eyes, Charles will be the new king.

The first official to get the news of Queen's demise will be the queen's private secretary

- Edward Young.

He will then pass on the information via a secure phone line to the Prime minister Theresa

May.

The demise of George VI was conveyed in a code word, "Hyde Park Corner" to prevent switchboard

operators from finding out.

The civil servants are expected to use code-word "London Bridge is Down" to convey the message.

The Foreign Office's Global Response Centre, based at a secret location in London, will

communicate the news to the 15 governments outside the U.K. where the Queen is also the

head of state and the 36 other nations of the Commonwealth for whom she has served as

a symbolic figurehead.

Governors-general, ambassadors, prime ministers and other important people in the country

and abroad will be informed first through secure lines and it may take anywhere from

some minutes to a few hours before the news is made public and rest of the world come

to know about the demise of their beloved queen.

I suppose it'll be a lot quicker than planned because we now have something we didn't have

back in 1952 - The Mighty Social Media.

The Press Association news agency and all other global newswire services will be informed

simultaneously.

As a formal announcement, a footman in mourning clothes will emerge and post a black-edged

notice to the gates of Buckingham Palace detailing a 10-day mourning period that will commence.

At the same time, the palace website will be transformed into a single page showing

the same notice on a dark background.

At BBC, a cold-war era alarm system called RATS, short for "radio alert transmission

system", will be activated.

Reporters and anchors have been rehearsing the death of the Queen for over 30 years,

substituting the name "Mrs. Robinson".

For many years, they have performed mock storylines about the Queen Mother choking on a fishbone.

These rehearsals will immediately be put into action.

BBC 1, 2 and 4 will be interrupted, programmes will stop and after a pause, news will be

broadcasted on all of them together.

The newsreaders will be wearing black suits and black ties and they'll inform the world

of this unfortunate event in a depressed voice.

This news will be repeated several times with silent breaks in-between after which BBC may

go completely silent for a few hours.

There is a network of blue lights, called "obit lights", installed at Britain's commercial

radio stations.

They are supposed to light up in event of a National catastrophe and are tested once

a week.

When the news of Queen's demise breaks, these lights will start flashing to alert the DJs

to switch to the news in a few minutes and to play inoffensive music in the meantime.

There is already a prepared list of music, made up of two categories of sad and saddest

songs, available at every radio station to reach for in times of sudden mourning.

Online media outlets and newspapers already have news stories about Queen's death, lengthy

obituaries and articles lined up to publish at a moment's notice.

Major news organizations like the Guardian and Times are said to have as much as 10-12

days of coverage ready to go.

Experts on royal matters have already signed contracts with media houses to speak exclusively

on those channels.

For those who'll be in the air, aircraft pilots will announce the news to them and social

media will do rest of the work.

Flags of all possible description, including beach flags, will be flown at half-mast and

bells will toll.

Great Tom at St Paul's is expected to ring every minute for several hours while some

others will sound for times equal to Queen's age at her demise.

This will be the beginning of 10 days of sorrow and spectacle, which are officially numbered

as D-Day, D+1, D+2...and so on till D+9.

Both houses of parliament will be called within hours of the monarch's death.

People will go home early.

If there's a home test match at Lord's, it'll be scrapped.

The Marylebone Cricket Club already holds insurance for that matter.

Rugby and hockey fixtures will be called off too, while football matches may go ahead.

The national theatre will close if the news breaks before 4 pm.

Big screens will be erected in provincial cities so crowds can follow events taking

place in London.

Mayor across the country will mask their decorations with black flags.

News crews will assemble on a pre-agreed site outside the palace.

They have got a confidential instruction book, a couple of inches thick, with every detail

of what to do and what to not.

TV schedules for all coming days will be changed.

Comedy shows will be restricted on BBC and satire will completely go off-air.

Messages will pour in from presidents and parliaments in the world.

Many nations are expected to announce weeks long mourning for the queen.

Around 10,000 tickets will be sent for printing for invited guests, the first of which will

be required for the proclamation of the new king.

18th Duke of Norfolk will be in charge and Lord Chamberlain's office in the palace will

the center of operations.

Despite the plethora of planings, everything will have to be signed off by the New King

and Duke of Norfolk.

Dignitaries coming from European Royal families will be put up at the palace; the rest will

stay at Claridge's Hotel.

In the days that follow the announcement, The Royal Mint will begin producing new coins

with the new Monarch's image on them, for issue upon his or her accession.

The demise of the queen will also be the moment of the accession of a new monarch.

Both things will go hand in hand.

There'll be diplomatic assembling in London not seen since the death of Winston Churchill

in 1965.

Both houses will gather and MPs will swear the oath of allegiance to the new sovereign.

In the House of the Lords, the two thrones will be replaced by a single chair and in

the evening, Charles will make his first address as head of state.

At the same time, the queen's body will be prepared to be kept in the throne room.

The coffin must have a false lid, to hold the crown jewels, with a rim at least three

inches high - everything will be pre-calculated and perfectly planned.

But what if the queen dies abroad or when she is in other parts of the country?

There's nothing to be foreseen.

In case of Queen dying overseas, a jet aircraft from RAF's No 32 Squadron, known as the Royal

Flight, will take off from the western edge of London to bring her back, with a coffin

on board.

A "first call coffin" is always kept ready by Royal undertakers in case of Royal emergencies.

If she dies at Windsor Castle or Sandringham House, the coffin would be moved by car to

Buckingham Palace within a couple of days.

The most elaborate plans are for what happens if she passes away at Scotland, where she

spends 3 months of the year.

This will initiate a complicated series of Scottish rituals in different cathedrals,

at the end of which, the coffin would be transported to Waverley Station and then taken by the

Royal Train to London.

People will line-up to meet their queen at railway stations and throw flowers.

A second train will run behind the first one to clear the flowers and debris off railway

tracks.

In every scenario, the Queen's body returns to the throne room in Buckingham Palace.

On D+1, the day after the Queen's demise, the flags will go back up, and at 11 am, Charles

will be proclaimed king at the Entrée room of St James's Palace.

He will carry out the first official duties of his reign by swearing to protect the church

in Scotland.

The national anthem will be played on drums wrapped in black cloth and trumpeters from

the Life Guards will step outside to give three blasts.

The proclamations will only just be getting started.

Britain will be getting its new king for the first time in the last 66 years and the world

will be watching.

This will be the time Britain will show its lost glory for one more time.

There'll be no fleet of bullet-proof limousines and fancy cars for on the streets, rather,

there'll be horses, carriages, and men wearing cocked hats everywhere.

A group of men, dressed up as characters of some Shakespeare drama, will go by carriage

to the statue of Charles I and read out the news again.

A 41-Gun salute will be fired from Hyde Park.

Heralds with trumpets will then go around spreading the news across the country.

High Sheriffs will stand on steps of town halls to announce the new sovereign as per

local customs.

People will be busy capturing a glimpse of the Might British Empire in their latest smartphones.

Things will very new to everyone, even for the ones doing it.

This will be the time for Charles to go out and meet his people.

A four-nation tour by the new king will immediately kick-off.

He'll stop-by in places to attend services for remembrance of his mother and meet the

leaders of the nation.

Lots of it will be done walking around and not being in a car.

On D+4, that is the fifth day of queen's demise, her coffin will be taken from the Throne Room

in Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall, to lie in state for public viewing for full

4 days.

The procession from Buckingham Palace will be a huge military parade expected to accommodate

a million people on the streets of London.

It's planned that the parade reaches Westminster hall just on the hour so that the Big Ben

starts to chime as the wheels come to a stop.

King Charles will the first of expected half a million mourners who'll pay homage to their

beloved queen - a wondrous queue at least 9 Kms long, equipped with canteens, portable

toilets, and police, will stream past the queen for 23 hours a day.

Everything inside the hall will be fantastically well-ordered and designed to within a quarter

of an inch.

The coffin will be placed on a catafalque draped in pink, the imperial crown, and the

royal Sceptre will be fixed in place.

The Sceptre holds "The Star Of Africa" - the second largest cut diamond in the world.

Four soldiers will stand vigil for 20 minutes at a time, with two ready in reserve.

The most senior of the four will stand at the foot the coffin while the most junior

at the head.

An exact replica of the hall will be set up somewhere nearby, so soldiers can practice

their movement before they go on duty.

The Queen's children and grandchildren - including women for the first time - will arrive unannounced

and stand vigil over their coffin as per tradition.

The night before the funeral, there will have been church services in towns across the UK,

football stadiums will be opened for memorial services if necessary.

Before dawn on D+9, the funeral day, the jewels will be taken off the coffin and cleaned in

the silent hall.

It'll the day of great sorrow.

People will wake up to a day off, the stock market will not open, shops will close or

go to bank holiday hours, people will display the picture of the queen in their windows.

At 9 am, Big Ben will strike, the bell's hammer will then be covered with a leather pad and

it will ring out in muffled tones.

Queen Elizabeth II will be the first British monarch to have her funeral in the Westminster

Abbey since George II in 1760.

At 11 o'clock, the coffin will arrive at the abbey doors, the country will fall silent.

The clatter will stop, train stations will cease announcements, buses will stop, drivers

will get out at the side of the road, RAF will be grounded - time will come to a halt.

The archbishop will speak inside the Abby with 2000 guests sitting.

Broadcasters will refrain from showing royal faces.

When coffin emerges again, it'll be placed on the green gun carrier and hauled by 138

junior sailors of the royal navy.

From Hyde Park Corner, the hearse will go 23 miles by road to Windsor Castle, where

the Queen's body will be buried.

The royal household will be waiting for their Queen standing on grass.

The coffin will go inside, the cloister gates will close and cameras will stop broadcasting.

This will be the end of an era.

This will be the start of turbulence.

The Royalty will never be the same again.

Judge Says Big Pharma Doesn't Have To Pay For Opioid Epidemic In New York - Duration: 2:57.

In a rather bizarre ruling this week, a district judge in Manhattan actually struck down a

law that was recently passed by lawmakers in the state of New York that would have made

opioid manufacturers and distributors pay upwards of $600, million dollars to help the

state cover the costs of battling the opioid epidemic.

Great law, great idea, exactly what needs to happen, and even the judge said that like

the reasoning and the rationale for this law was 100 percent spot on and accurate.

Unfortunately, because you won't let you wrote this into legislation, you're not going to

let drug companies and drug distributors pass on those costs to the consumers.

That somehow violates the commerce clause.

So I have to strike down the whole thing.

I don't understand that line of logic whatsoever.

I mean it.

It violates the commerce clause somehow because companies can't screw over consumers to make

them pay for the problems that pharmaceutical companies started.

Somebody for the love of God explained to me how that makes any sense and how that could

possibly violate the commerce clause.

Companies do this kind of crap all the time.

It's externalizing the costs

and it's disgusting.

You know, they, they want us to pay for their messes.

You know, whether it's oil spills, whether it's massive chemical contamination or whether

it's the opioid epidemic.

They want the victims, the consumers, the people they lied to to cover the costs of

it.

That is what they argued in front of this judge and this judge said, you know what?

You're right.

It's really not fair that if they're going to charge you $600 million, you can't built

$600 million out of consumers to make up for it.

That's just not fair to you.

Is it?

Now?

I don't know anything about this judge.

Maybe she is a wonderful person and I don't want to sit here and say that she is a horrible

person, but this is a bad ruling.

This is a very disgusting, bad and improper ruling that she issued this week.

Opioid companies knew what they were doing.

The distributors knew what they were doing.

Their documents prove that without a doubt, so to say that it's unfair to them or that

it violates some dormant commerce clause that hasn't been used in decades is absolutely

insane.

These companies caused this crisis.

The state of New York was trying to get them to pay up for it and all these drug companies

and distributors wanted to do was externalize those costs and pass them back onto the consumers.

And the judge in this case happened to think that that was just a okay with her.

Fox hunting fans and anti-hunt activists get ready for Boxing Day meets - News Live - Duration: 3:11.

Scores of fox hunts are due to meet on Boxing Day - nearly 14 years after the bloodsport was banned

Riders and packs of hounds from an estimated 53 hunts are expected to tear across the countryside in their traditional Christmas meets

They will be carrying out legal drag or trail hunts following the block on hunting with dogs which came into force in England and Wales in February 2005

But campaigners fear foxes could still be killed accidentally if dogs pick up a scent before chasing down and mauling a live animal

League Against Cruel Sports deputy of director of campaigns Chris Pitt said: "Wild animals - including foxes, hare and deer - are still being chased to exhaustion across the British countryside before being torn to pieces by packs of trained hunting hounds

"Since the start of the hunting season in November, the League has received over one-hundred reports of British wildlife being targeted by hunts

Hunting dogs have been injured and killed during vehicle collisions, too.  "With over 85% of people opposing all forms of hunting with hounds, there is strong support for British wildlife being given robust protection from those who kill for 'sport'

"How can we call ourselves a civilised nation when those who gain entertainment from attacking wildlife continue to go unpunished by the law?"  The Countryside Alliance has waged an online fight in a bid to protect Boxing Day hunts

It fears activists will persuade officials to ban hunts from their land.  Promoting a lobbying drive on its website, it claims: "Meets held on land owned or managed by local councils, on Boxing Day and throughout the festive period, are being put at risk of cancellation by a targeted campaign organised by anti-hunting associations

"One meet has already been forced to relocate.  "This threatens to deny many people their only opportunity to see hounds and interact with their local hunt, which is such a key part of the festive season

"  The Alliance's head of hunting Polly Portwin said: "Boxing Day meets are a special occasion in the hunting calendar, with hundreds of thousands of people turning out to support hunts throughout the festive period

"It would be a travesty if councils denied those people who support local packs of hounds the opportunity to show their appreciation at meets this Boxing Day

"We are asking people to act now to protect this annual spectacle by filling out our form to send a letter of support to their local council leader

"  The Tory Party dropped plans to try and bring back hunting through a free vote of MPs after Theresa May's bungled snap election disaster last year

The Prime Minister spoke passionately of her personal support for hunting in a gaffe which many believe fuelled her ballot box meltdown

Kalen Ballage Fantasy Start 'Em Sit 'Em: Outlook for Dolphins RB | Heavy.com - Duration: 5:23.

Kalen Ballage Fantasy Start 'Em Sit 'Em: Outlook for Dolphins RB | Heavy.com

The Miami Dolphins have shaken up the fantasy football landscape a bit by injecting yet another electrifying playmaker into their offense.

And in turn, it's created somewhat of a headache and a tough call for fantasy players in Week 16.

With Frank Gore suffering an injury last week, the Dolphins offense briefly became the Kalen Ballage show.

For those who haven't taken the deep dive into Ballage's background just yet, it's tough to blame you.

After all, the rookie running back out of Arizona State had received just eight carries this season prior to his number being called against the Minnesota Vikings.

But when Ballage finally received his opportunity, he made his presence felt with a 75-yard touchdown which had many scanning the fantasy football waiver wires.

He wrapped up the day with 12 carries for 123 yards and the one touchdown but is primed for a bigger workload moving forward.

This comes due to the Dolphins' decision to place Frank Gore on injured reserve with a sprained foot.

With Gore on the shelf and Kenyan Drake's workload being cut back, the fantasy outlook for Ballage in Week 16 against the Jacksonville Jaguars is worth discussing.

Kalen Ballage Week 16 Matchup & Fantasy Outlook.

The situation is somewhat of an interesting one, but it does bode fairly well for Ballage from a fantasy standpoint.

Even with Gore playing 13 percent of the offensive snaps last game, the rookie received 49 percent of the work, just narrowly behind the 53 percent given to Drake, per Football Outsiders.

But those numbers don't tell the entire story, as Drake has been battling a shoulder injury which will impact things moving forward.

This led to him earning just one carry through the entirety of last game.

Drake seems to be working more as the pass-catching back, which would leave Ballage to handle the bulk of the ground duty.

As far as this matchup goes, the Jaguars are a bit scarier in name than actual run defense currently.

On the season, they've allowed 1,232 yards on 294 carries with eight rushing touchdowns.

The numbers aren't overly incredible, but this is also the team that just allowed 238 yards and four touchdowns in one game to Derrick Henry.

Should You Start or Sit Kalen Ballage?.

I wouldn't go wild trying to start Ballage in 10-team leagues unless you need a flex play due to an injury.

A case can at least be made for the Dolphins young running back to be in the mix for 12-team leagues, but anything smaller than that is probably a stretch.

But when factoring in that multiple big-name running backs such as James Conner and Todd Gurley could sit out, it makes the decision interesting.

Even beyond those two, the likes of Spencer Ware and a few others may miss Week 16, leading to a player like Ballage being a solid fill-in option, specifically in larger leagues.

I'd feel confident using Ballage in all 14-team leagues or larger, and there are certain cases where he makes sense in 12-teamers also.

This will mainly depend on your team's depth and other options on the roster.

Translation by Hazuki no Yume

The sequel to the story you left half-written

Overspilled from the tip of my pen—

Memories smudged in black

Staining the white sky

Staining the clear sea

Locking up the pieces of dreams in the dark night

All the banal relationships

With the wild beasts you've tamed

And the white rabbits falling from the sky,

Melting like snow

Finding me wandering in

The monster cat beckoned me over

Out the window

You jumped

Through the looking glass.

At the furthest edge of this world

The newborn sin is our first cries as infants

Beyond our awakened eyes

The scenery outside the window

Is a world that's taken on colors

The children whisper

Eat us.

Swallow us.

Giving in to my hunger,

I devoured them, letting the taste corrupt me.

Sorrowfully, from your eyes in the image of you

Burned onto the black and white photo

Flowed blue tears

Finding me changed beyond recognition

She beckoned me over

Out the window

I plunged

There's no meaning here

The newborn sin is our first cries as infants

Fading away…

Right from the Start: Empowering Young Parents for Success - Duration: 5:13.

>> JENNIFER GRAHAM: When we come in, we're interacting, we're showing the parent how to interact,

so that the child feels an impact.

>> PARTICIPANT: This program helped me know that I'm going to be a good parent to my child.

[intro music]

>> JENNIFER GRAHAM: The youth that I serve are teen parents in the city, anywhere from 13 to 24. They're

trying to be the best parent they can be. They're trying to get information to

learn how to parent.

>> CONSTANCE GULLY: We offer personal visits as the first component of the program.

During the visits, trained parent educators partner with parents to set goals.

They partner on ensuring family well-being and building protective factors.

They facilitate parent-child interactions as well as development-centered

parenting activities.

>> DIAMOND: Miss Kim, my parents teacher, she helps me as far as

my baby skills and just so I know that I'm not doing the wrong things.

>> MEG BOVKO: A lot of it is just this positive youth development approach of

acknowledging that young people can make really healthy decisions for themselves

as long as they have the information and the support of healthy relationships

that are going to get them there.

>> JENNIFER GRAHAM: You know when you go and you love to see them

pull out stuff and say, "Hey I used this last week and it really worked!" You

know, "can you help me again or can you help me modify it?"

>> RONNY: In the beginning, I was

more like, you know, laid-back dad while they were meeting with my son and my

grandson. My son was, I think, 16 at the time, so he was a very young parent. But

with the services that the program provides and Miss Jennifer, of course,

I was really amazed in the results. I began to see that and how much my

grandson and my son had grown into becoming more positive with their relationship.

>> CONSTANCE GULLY: Most of these teens, they live in

highly distressed neighborhoods and have significant stressors and challenges

like homelessness, unemployment, finishing school. Or they live in neighborhoods

that are ridden with drugs and violence. We're able to recruit teens because of

our strong community partnerships and positive word-of-mouth referrals from

teams themselves. Our partners include shelters,

social service agencies, the diaper bank, food pantries, churches, libraries, schools,

health centers. They help us.

>> DIAMOND: I was in a Independent Living Program called

Mary Grove and they had parent teaching classes and I went to one

and I've been seeing her ever since.

>> JENNIFER GRAHAM: They have so much on their plate already. They're overwhelmed,

for one, they're homeless and they really don't have a support system. So for us to

come in and offer development-appropriate activities, that kind of alleviates, you

know, some of the stress.

>> CONSTANCE GULLY: I think one of the powerful things about the parents as

teachers model itself is that we engage fathers, uncles, moms, dads, aunts,

grandparents. Anyone that has an opportunity to engage with the child and

>> RONNY: What I take away from that is that to spread the word, to let

young people know that there's resources that can help you get through these type

of situations in your life.

>> DIAMOND: I'm able to be more confident about the decisions I make for her,

and what I do with her, what I feed her, and knowing that if I don't have it

somebody else can kind of help me, give me that little nudge I need.

>> CONSTANCE GULLY: Teen parents love their children and they want what's best for

them just like any other parent. No matter how much the odds are stacked

against them, teens can be great parents. They're resilient.

>> RONNY: My son, I know that he

has a sincere desire to be a great parent. I see him make the sacrifices,

spending time, quality time, with his child, and I think that kind of affects

him growing into a very positive, productive young adult. I think young

people need, they need these type of programs. I think it opens doors to them

becoming productive citizens, great parents. It's truly a plus for myself,

my son, and my grandson.

Tips for Completing Your Housing Preference Form - Duration: 7:01.

Hey there, Tigers! Today I'm going to give you the inside scoop on completing your

preference form for housing at the University of Missouri. You want to

complete this form as all incoming students are required to live on campus.

It's the only way Residential Life knows what you want so we can place you in

your residence hall. In this video I'll explain how we prioritize your

preferences, explain what's on the form and give you some tips to help make it

smoother for you. Let's dive right in. My first tip for you is this: complete the

preference form. Remember, it's not room selection and we have more than 5,000

new Tigers coming in but we will try to accommodate as many of your preferences

as possible. We prioritize by academic success and roommate pairing, however we

also aim to meet as many preferences as possible. I also recommend you review the

rate sheet so you can make your preferences based on your desired living

experiences as well as price point. And hey, check it out: lower prices! Relax. If

you don't know what you want to preference initially or you change your

mind, it's okay. To be included in the first round of assignments, you'll have

until March 1st to make as many changes to your preference form as you want. And

you have until May 1st to be included in the second round. After June 1st we will

assign as preference forms are submitted. To begin, you will need to know your

myZou username to sign in. Don't know what that is? You can find it in your

admissions acceptance letter. Now let's get to the selections on the form.

Beginning with academic success, this is where you can tell us if you want to

join a Freshman Interest Group - also known as a FIG - learning community or

become part of the Kinder Institute Residential College. All academic success

selections should be purposeful as you are committing to the expectation of the

program. We prioritize FIGs when making assignments. For example, if you

preference Truman Central neighborhood in a suite, but the FIG you selected is

located in a community double in College Crossing, we will place you in a

community double in College Crossing, where your FIG is located. This brings me

to a question you might be asking: why don't we list FIG locations? It's because

FIGs evolve depending on demand, which impacts their location, set

to best meet students needs. If you're not interested in an academic success

community, no worries. We still work to meet your needs and preferences. Heads up:

all academic success options have a size threshold and they do fill up. Now let's

talk about roommates and suite mates. Remember you don't have to preference a

specific roommate or suite mates. However, if you want to live with a specific

person you'll want to add that individual in your preference form - and

make sure they also preference you. You'll need to add their myZou username

but if you don't know that right now no worries, you can choose "preference a

specific roommate at a later time." Work with your desired roommate to ensure

that you have similar preferences. This helps us ensure that you both want

similar housing experiences. Make sure you both select each other. So, your

preferred roommate will need your myZou username too. If you want to preference

suite mates you will also need their myZou usernames. Your suite mates would

preference each other as roommates then select you and your roommate as

they are suite mates. If you select one FIG and your preferred roommate selects

a different FIG, you will not be assigned with your desired roommate. Also remember

roommate preferences take priority over room and hall types. If you preference a

roommate and they preference a FIG, no matter what you preference for location,

style, etc, you will be placed in the hall that houses the FIG that your roommate

will be in, though this does not place you in the FIG itself. Now we'll go

through the room and hall type section where you get to tell us which style of

room and campus location you prefer. Keep in mind that most of our rooms are

community style doubles. This is intentional. We know that first-year

students who live together make friends more quickly and generally have a better

experience and we recommend you understand the space limitations. You

might not be able to receive a room style in a location where there are a

few available. For example, there are almost no suites in Truman Central and

those that do exist are selected by upper-class students. In fact, over 50% of

all incoming students will live in College Crossing neighborhood. Let's look

at the options. We have 365 housing for students who need housing 365 days a

year. This would mean you can live with us the

summer after your first year and stay in your same room. It's a helpful option for

reducing gaps in residency if you will be working on becoming a Missouri

resident, or just taking classes. Do you want to share your space or live by

yourself? Keep in mind there are limited single rooms, which are often preferred

by returning students. we encourage you to select single if that's what you want,

but we can't guarantee you will get it. What do we mean by hall-style? Community

style is what you might think of regarding college residence halls. You

would share bathrooms with others on your floor or wing. Bonus: no cleaning and

no waiting on a suite mate to finish up! Auite style is typically where rooms are

connected to a shared bathroom. The bathroom is shared between two to four

individuals also known as your suite mates. Women's are halls that only allow

female residents. Students who select this option will be assigned Johnston or

Center as supply allows. Gender-neutral housing provides an inclusive option for

those that seek it. This provides the opportunity to live in a room that is

not designated by genders. Making the selection also requires you to submit a

gender-neutral housing agreement. When it comes to location preferences, we have:

College Crossing, where the majority of our rooms are located. The halls are

located on the east side of campus. Southwest Village houses fewer students

than College Crossing. The halls are located near Greektown and athletic

facilities. Truman Central is a popular location for upper-class students.

Honors College is housed in Mark Twain and Schurz. I encourage you to look at

the neighborhoods page of our website for a peek into these locations. Next you

will make preferences about affordability and let us know if you

need accommodations. This helps us make informed decisions on your assignment.

The final two sections are all about easing you into your transition to

Mizzou. Let us know if you're planning to bring a vehicle to campus. Most incoming

students don't bring a vehicle as campus is walkable. The vast majority of

incoming students with a vehicle will receive parking assignments in

perimeter lots. You can also sign up for your student season pass to join in the

Mizzou athletics fun. Indicate if you are planning to participate in fraternity or

sorority recruitment. You'll still need to sign up with them

through their formal process. However, this will help us share your interest

with them. Thanks for watching this video. As always, if you have any questions

don't hesitate to email our ResLife office at housing@missouri.edu

Can't wait to see you in august! M - I - Z
