So we have another myth to do today and this actually came some from office personnel from
general questions that they get from clients when they're selling policies.
one of the myths is uninsured motorists, which we always try to sell on a policy, but when
they're trying to explain the coverag-
Can I tell them?
I was gonna, ok sure.
I don't want to explain coverage.
Oh, go for it.
All I do is talk, remember.
I don't explain coverage everyday to clients anymore, so, I would prefer you explain coverage.
Keep us out of so much trouble.
Uninsured motorists, some people are under the assumption, because it is this way in
other states, we're specifically talking about Florida, that if someone hits their car, the
damage to their car is covered.
So if I hit, somebody hits my car, my car is damaged, my uninsured motorists is going
to fix my car.
Isn't that right?
No.
In Florida, uninsured motorists only protects the body of the person, either the insured
or passenger in the car.
The only way the physical damage to your car is going to be covered is if you have collision
coverage.
Collision coverage will kick in if the person who hits you doesn't have insurance.
Unfortunately, that means you have to pay a deductible.
Being that they didn't have insurance, there's no place to re-coop it, but the uninsured
motorist coverage only can pay for pain and suffer, bodily injury, loss of income.
It can pay to rebuild your house, if you become confined to a wheelchair.
It pays anything the other persons insurance should have paid because they were at fault
when they hit you and they don't have any insurance or they don't have enough insurance
So uninsured motorist is always a very very important coverage to get.
It is.
Insurance follows the car.
So the collision policy, if you have a collision, it'll pay for it, on your policy.
