Doesn't it seem like every time you turn on the news it just gets more and more ridiculous?
Today is no exception!
The administrators at an Indiana School dealt a devastating blow to the safety of their
students when they refused to let an Army veteran stand guard with an AR-15 after the
Parkland shooting with left 17 people dead on Valentine's Day.
Mark Cowan, who is also an Oath Keeper, decided to go stand guard, free of charge, at the
North Side High School in Fort Wayne in order to stop any copycat type of attack against
the students.
But instead of the school welcoming him, as they should, they told him to leave.
In an interview, Cowan explained that these children and students mean a lot to him, and
to this community.
He added that since law enforcement can't be everywhere at the same time he decided
to get himself off the couch and do something about it.
He also made it very clear that he had been in touch with local law enforcement and the
school and let them know of his intentions before showing up but still, the school made
him leave and told him they don't need his help.
Now, this is what I don't understand.
People don't want to arm teachers nor do they want to have armed security in our schools,
even if that security is a veteran who is doing it for free.
Instead, they claim the only way to protect our children is to disarm law-abiding gun
owners like you and me?
Does that sound logical to you?
How about we hire all those veterans we have who can't find work and aren't suffering
from PTSD and put them to work to protect our children?
If armed guards are good enough for celebrities and our money, why isn't it good enough
for our children?

"The nation's 10th largest school system this week will be urged to consider revamping
security in the wake of last week's Florida school shooting rampage to include adding
more armed protection in all schools.
"Are our kids important enough to protect in the same way we guard money in a bank?"
asked Elizabeth Schultz, a member of the Fairfax County, Virginia school board.
CPAC backs NRA, arming teachers after Parkland shooting
"It's time to have an honest discussion," she told Secrets.
"The largest school boards in the nation have to lead," added Schultz, whose professional
background includes work with Fortune 300 companies, USAID, U.S. Customs, the Secret
Service, FBI and ATF.
At the board's meeting Thursday she plans to push an initiative for a comprehensive
new security plan that could include adding police or armed guards to middle and high
schools that already have them and also to unprotected elementary schools.
Included could be trained military veterans.
In addition, she wants the board to consider buying technology that can identify an active
shooter on campus and adding emergency preparedness drills.
"What happens here reverberates around the country," she said of the big and influential
school system.
"Potentially it creates a blueprint for schools across the country."
Schultz described her initiative as an active response to the Florida shootings, not a feel-good
proclamation.
Fellow board member Ryan McElveen, plans to introduce a resolution on gun control and
mental health funding.
Schultz said the time for resolutions is over and she is not wedded to any one solution
or even a one-size-fits-all for the county schools.
But, she said, it appears that gun control isn't an answer and that nobody has suggested
removing all guns from the nation.
"Guns aren't going anywhere," she said.
"The question is, 'Now what?'" she said.
Her goal is to bring school officials, law enforcement, students and educators together
to map a flexible solution to school security that deals with threats and access.
"Practicability" is key, she said, noting that trying to squeeze thousands of students
many times a day through metal detectors isn't workable.
Below is her proposal to be presented at the board's forum, which occurs before the regular
meeting:
Discuss implementing full-time armed presence in all schools – either through additional
Fairfax County Police Officers or licensed armed security – and other Safety and Security
aspects related to student and employee safety in FCPS school and administrative buildings.
The Board needs to have a comprehensive discussion regarding the Safety and Security measures
deployed in our schools, what current practices are in place at the elementary, middle and
high school levels, and discuss the potential of incorporating full-time armed presence
in all schools – either through additional Fairfax County Police Officers or licensed
armed security.
In addition, the Board should:
Discuss the potential of acquiring additional technology for identifying active shooters
in buildings.
Assess existing policies regarding emergency preparedness drills and whether active shooter
drills should be incorporated into existing practices.
Other additional measures as may be suggested by Safety and Security personnel, including
recommendations for additional safety and security subject matter expertise.
Aspects of Safety and Security which are different for administrative facilities versus school
buildings also need to be reviewed and discussed."

Oh Jung-hee sheds light on what the regime may want through dilaogue... and how Seoul
plans to communicate with the U.S. North Korea's delegation to the closing ceremony
of the PyeongChang Winter Olympics... repeatedly said the North is willing to talk to the U.S.,
and they laid out no particular preconditions.
It's been pretty rare for North Korea to openly and clearly mention a "will to talk,"... but
the U.S. is standing firm: talks can happen only if they're for denuclearization.
" North Korea, who, by the way, wants to talk -- as of last night you heard that, they want
to talk.
We want to talk also, only under the right conditions."
So President Trump has thrown the ball back to Pyongyang.
If the regime wants to sit down with the U.S., then Kim Jong-un will have to decide whether
he's willing to discuss denuclearization.
But experts believe... what North Korea means by 'talks' would not be about giving up its
nuclear program... but rather a nuclear freeze.
"North Korea may be ready to discuss... first, halting its nuclear and missile tests... and
then, accepting IAEA inspections and stopping its nuclear facilities.
I believe North Korea will reject discarding its nuclear weapons by putting forth conditions
that are difficult to meet."
But the expert added... that this could be enough for the U.S. to see that conditions
for dialogue with North Korea are in place... as the regime's test-firing of ICBMs has been
a tangible threat for the U.S.
On Monday, President Moon urged the North to show a will to denuclearize... but at the
same time said Washington should "lower the threshold" for talks with Pyongyang.
To create a greater room for dialogue between Washington and Pyongyang,... diplomatic sources
say,...
Seoul plans to send its top nuclear envoy to Washington... as soon as this week.
The goal would be to find areas of common interest between the two sides... and ultimately
enable any type of talks step-by-step.

How Cheek Augmentation is Performed for a Youthful, Rounded Look, While Avoiding Looking Chiseled - Duration: 11:00.
Thank you for your question.
You submitted your question with several photos.
And you're asking, should you get a malar, submalar or combined implant.
And you're stating in the details of your question that you want something permanent
and you don't want fillers.
And you stated that as your face has been aging, that the nose is looking more prominent.
And you're describing that your goal is to have a more youthful, more rounder look
and not so chiseled but it has to look natural with your thin face.
Well, I can certainly share with you some basic concepts of how a surgeon determines
what kind of implant is appropriate for a patient as well as some perspective that I
think is important that maybe has not been fully discussed with you at this point.
A little bit of background, I'm a Board-certified cosmetic surgeon and Fellowship-trained oculofacial
plastic and reconstructive surgeon.
I have been in practice in Manhattan and Long Island for over 20 years.
Helping patients like yourself with facial aging changes through different surgical and
non-surgical approaches has been the core of my career for the past 20 years.
And certainly, I can share with you a little bit of the evolution of my thinking and really
what has become more of an approach that I think will be relevant to your situation.
So part of the challenge is that you are dealing with results of facial aging which is progressive
yet you want something permanent.
And understanding that facial aging from a global perspective, what you're mostly experiencing
at this point has to do with a relative diminishing of bone volume.
So of course, it stands to reason that placement of an implant will make sense.
So to distinguish the difference between a malar, submalar and a combined implant, well
the malar implant is basically aiming towards increasing the projection of the cheekbone
prominence or the area called the malar eminence.
The submalar implant is to fill that area below the cheek called the submalar area.
And when you combine the two, you get an implant that does both.
Now the challenge in your situation is how can an implant be placed that will not look
so chiseled and rounded and look harmonious with your face.
I think that from a surgeon's perspective, there is a leaning to do something more conservative
because for a person with a thin face, you're going to avoid that disproportionality which
can appear to look chiseled, the surgeon will lean towards placing a smaller sized implant
regardless of whether it's a submalar or combined implant.
If you were to do only a malar implant, I think that you would probably just feel like
the chiseled look would be accentuating the thinness of your face.
Now dealing with this type of challenge has become different in my practice based in the
introduction of several things.
One is the use of long lasting fillers such as Juvederm Ultra Plus and Juvederm Voluma
and a technique called Structural Volumizing.
Now Structural Volumizing allows me with my surgical background and surgical knowledge
to make corrections of these areas of deficit in a person's face not only in the cheek
area but in other areas of the face such as the chin and the jaw angle.
If you want to get a more softer look overall, then I recognize the resistance of wanting
to do fillers with some regularity.
Patients frequently ask about doing something permanent but recognizing that aging changes
is not only bone loss but muscle, fat, soft tissue and that the skin gets thinner with
time, then there's a challenge with putting an implant when the soft tissue overlying
that implant is going to continue to thin and this is an issue that of course is discussed
before doing an implant placement.
With Structural Volumizing, I've been able to place these long lasting fillers in a way
that I'm able to control so I can compensate for asymmetries and I can also place in multiple
areas.
A lot of times when I show a patient of before and after of a Structural Volumizing patient,
I further explain that to get a similar result, I would have to place a cheek implant, a chin
implant and a jaw angle implant which is considerably a lot more surgery.
Further, because I am able to further control the amount and volume of placement, it really
makes this an ideal.
And I can certainly tell you that more people are more comfortable with the placement of
long lasting fillers than doing a surgery and taking the risk that they'll still need
filler afterwards.
This is an important point.
When you have a facial implant, it only addresses a limited area, though it is an important
area that will help you look better but when you look at your face, you want to look at
the balance, the harmony that is very important to look youthful and there are many elements
to that.
So I think it is important, as you do your consultations, you get a realistic understanding
of what the outcome will be.
The last thing you want is to go into the surgery with this expectation that this will
be the definitive procedure that will bring harmony to your face and then have to still
do fillers so it's important and I tell this to my patients who I also do facelifts
for.
When patients come and say "I want to get a facelift so I can look young for a long
time", I say that a facelift will help you restore the position of the cheek and improve
the jawline and the neck but it doesn't negate the need or displace the need for fillers.
Understanding that facial aging is volume loss and descent, you want to address all
those elements to get balance and harmony.
So it has become my practice even though I am a surgeon and I love doing surgery, to
guide my patients based on the tools and the outcomes that I can achieve that I feel are
exceptional using Structural Volumizing in the course of what is no more than 30 mins
that essentially has replaced what I used to do with surgery.
Now it's not the case for every patient.
There are certainly a lot of people who we see in our practice choose that option.
And the fact that these fillers can last for 2 years makes it fairly easy to do.
Now a lot of times people need fillers in other areas.
Facial aging is not limited to the area that bothers you.
People want volume in their lips, they want volume in the more superficial lines and other
areas.
So we really have a wide range of fillers and different techniques to deliver those
fillers to get a look that is customizable in real time and I think that's important
to consider as you're making your decision and strategizing in dealing with your facial
aging changes.

Heather Locklear arrested for investigation of domestic violence
TV actress Heather Locklear has been released on bail after being arrested for kicking police officers investigating her for domestic violence offences.
Police responded to a domestic disturbance around 10:00pm on Sunday (local time) in Thousand Oaks, west of Los Angeles, Ventura County sheriffs Captain Garo Kuredjian said.
The victim of the alleged domestic violence was a boyfriend who had a physical injury, which makes the offence a felony, Captain Kuredjian said.
He did not know details of the injury, but said the man declined treatment.
Locklear was uncooperative with the officers and became combative, Captain Kuredjian said.
She was kicking at and pushing our deputies, he said.
She was also arrested on three misdemeanour counts of battery on a peace officer.
Locklear said she had been injured prior to the officers arrival and was taken to a hospital and cleared medically before being booked into county jail.
She was released on $20,000 bail and is due in court on March 13.
An attorney for Locklear declined comment.
The 56-year-old actress was among the biggest stars on television in the 1980s and 1990s, with roles on Dynasty, T.J.Hooker and Melrose Place.
Authorities did not release the name of the boyfriend who was involved in the call.
Locklear has been married twice — to Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee from 1986 to 1993 and to Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora from 1994 to 2007.
An engagement to fellow Melrose Place actor Jack Wagner was called off in 2011.
In 2008, she was arrested in Santa Barbara County and charged with driving under the influence of prescription drugs after authorities said they found her driving back-and-forth over a pair of sunglasses in a parking lot.

Hey everyone thanks for tuning in
Today we're talking about "Audience Analysis" which is chapter two, part six in your text
on page thirty-nine
We're going to do a two-minute drill and give an overview of the basics of audience
analysis.
So let's start!
Audience analysis is really nothing new!
It's something we do all the time subconsciously.
The way you talk to you grandma sounds different than the way you converse with your best friend.
You already have experience doing this whether you know it or not.
But why would we do this for a speech?
Because making adjustments based on your audience makes your speech more meaningful to your
listeners.
They'll be more interested and more engaged in the subject matter
So what aspects of audience analysis should we take into account?
Consider this nine-point AUDIENCES checklist.
First, consider whether your audience has a positive or negative attitude regarding
your topic.
Second, does your audience know what you're talking about?
If they don't understand your topic, you'll need to explain it to them.
Demographics are categories like age, race, religion, and gender…
They don't tell us everything about an audience, but you can make some adjustments based on
this data.
Interest level can often be gauged by your audience's reason for being there: are they
captive or voluntary?
This tells you a lot!
The more first-hand experience your audience has in a subject, the more likely they are
to have stronger views.
Are there special audience needs you should to take into account?
Maybe having a visual aid would help.
How does the context of the situation affect the audience?
The time of day?
The room size?
You'll need to adjust accordingly.
The audience always has expectations of you as a speaker.
At minimum your job is to meet those expectations, and hopefully exceed them.
Last but not least sometimes you have the opportunity to not just to guess the answer
to these, but to give your audience a survey!
Which is what I'd like you to do now…
For the survey, create a post on the discussion board with your thesis statement and specific
purpose.
Once you have your own post written, reply to your classmates to give them some information
about their audience!
Include attitude, understanding, interest, and your experience with their topic, as well
as any additional questions you have for them.
Once you have that done, get to work on your speech!
