Quick release gimbal for Zhiyun Crane Plus , V2 and V1 - Chung Dha - Duration: 7:50.
Hey Filmmakers Chung Dha here, in this video I'm going to talk about which
quick-release you should get for yours Zhiyun crane plus so the Zhiyun crane plus
does not have a quick release on it even though it looks like it has one it's
just a sliding plate to enable you to actually get it balanced quite easily
however the quickest way with the normal way to release your camera is just
unscrewing it with this screw so it's not that nice if you want to switch from
the Zhiyun crane plus or you see in crane v2 or Zhiyun crane to like a tripod or
something else so here we have like a bunch of quick releases we have the
standard arcus which we have the manfrotto 577 we have here a small rig quick
release special ARCA swiss and the free to free from Manfrotto so we're actually
first going to compare this and weight them down which is actually the lightest
of them because if you have like the v2 or the first version you're quite
limited with the weight even though the newest version the crane Plus can handle
two point five kilograms but like the older version the v2 is one point eight
kilograms and also the original crane one is so you want to keep it as light
as possible especially if you are using like a heavier DSLR so the normal
Arca swiss with arca-swiss plate is hundred and six point two grams the
special arca-swiss plate is one hundred thirteen point four grams the Manfrotto
577 is two hundred fifty-four point four grams the smallrig five or one quick
release plate is three hundred and twenty five point five grams with the
method of quick release the Manfrotto free to free is one hundred thirty nine
point four grams so from the weights we can already say that the Arca Swiss are
the winners with the weight wise it's much lighter however most of you who are
in videography are probably using Manfrotto tripods and the yeah you probably rather
have like a Manfrotto quick release however these Arca Swiss are quite
and actually quite affordable so you can actually buy these and adapt these on
top of your Manfrotto tripod heads so now we're going to talk about these quick
release plates individually and also see how they work so first we have this
normal ARCA swiss the nice thing about this is that it's small however the bad
thing is that it's not fully flush this thumb screw actually sticks slightly
under it out so if you are having it mounted like this it's going to hit the
side of here so if you are going to mount it you need to have the thumb
screw sticking out of this side so it doesn't yeah get in the way and make it
much easier to release your camera from the crane plus another annoying thing is
when you are going to put this onto here it needs to twist it quite a lot and
also releasing the entire place you need to twist it quite a lot
so it's not really that quick of a mount to remove your camera from so now the
Leofoto quick release this is like a special Arca Swiss quick-release plate
this has like a quick mechanism just pull here and there's also a lock on it
this has a fully flush design so you don't get in trouble when you're using
this on the inside of your gimbal and also nice thing is it has like a quick
mechanism to quickly release it so first you have to press here on the side of
poets and then you can quickly release your plate from the quick release plate
here we have the Manfrotto 323 the downside is that this is not a flush
design so when you're placing this on top of your crane plus you are quite
limited to how you are placing this and you would need to also put it much wider
instead of putting it's normally without the extra width so this is a
quick-release plate that I don't really recommend that much
even though you can buy these for really really cheap but it's not a quick
release that I would recommend for Gimbals however the good thing about
this quick release it has like a really nice lock however the mechanism for
actually holding the plate itself it's not really that strong and actually can
move a little bit with using heavy cameras so now the Manfrotto 577 this is
a nice quick release plate if you are using professional video camera tripods
on Manfrotto you would probably use this plate for all of your tripods however
the downside is that this knob is not fully flushed you can position it that
it's flushed however its will get in your way
sometimes trying to release your camera from your plate is sometimes it's just
quite hard to do that however weight wise if you aren't using
far too heavy cameras if you're using like a Panasonic G7 or like yeah a lot
of mirrors cameras you can use this plate however if you are using like
canon DSLR adding this plate will make your setup quite heavy and might be
actually too heavy now we're going to talk about the small rig a quick-release
plate on the website it's said that it had the same weight as the 577 but that
it has like a nicer like quick-release mechanism
however weighing it actually with a plate it's much heavier this weighs more
than 300 grams so it's actually quite heavy for all our setups unless you are
using a really lightweight camera but I wouldn't really recommend this plate
because it's so heavy maybe like if you have like a shoulder rig where you need
a quick-release plate this is a nice quick release plate for that but not a
quick-release plate to be used on a gimbal however it does have its plus
side that is a fully flush design and it has a nice quick-release mechanism and
locking mechanism to remove your plates from the quick-release plate
however it's too bad that it's a too heavy quick-release plate so from all
these tests I have to recommend the Leofoto quick-release plate for ARCA Swiss
plate it has a nice lever with a lock on it so you can secure your camera on top
of your gimbal nice and securely and also it's a nice flush design without it
getting in the way of the other things on your gimbal and it's also easy to
release the quick-release plate without any issues so that was mainly it
