Born from cultures we can only read about and making fun of customs we don't always
understand, many of the world's oldest jokes, to a modern audience, simply aren't that
funny.
That said, humans being humans, with the oldest joke that has survived through today, it would
appear little has changed in the interim- it, naturally, being a fart joke.
To wit, recorded on a Sumerian tablet somewhere between 1900 and 2300 BC, the first known
joke is as follow:
Something which has never occurred since time immemorial; a young woman did not fart on
her husband's lap.
The second oldest documented joke moves away from potty humor in favor of a sex, recorded
about 1600 BC on the Westcar Papyrus: "How do you entertain a bored pharaoh?
You sail a boatload of young women dressed only in fishing nets down the Nile and urge
the pharaoh to go catch a fish."
The third oldest known joke was recorded on a Babylonian tablet dating to about 1500 BC
and, given some of the context is missing, is interesting today mostly for its construction,
being the oldest known "Yo' Momma" joke…
(We haven't really changed all that much, have we?):
…of your mother is by the one who has intercourse with her.
What/who is it?
*No answer*
From this point, occasional surviving jokes pop up here and there, and even references
to no longer surviving joke books.
The first known of these is a collection of jokes from a social club in Athens that was
reportedly compiled at the request of Philip the Great of Macedon (382–336 BC), but unfortunately
has been lost to history.
Several hundred years later (and a few more known references to lost joke books in the
interim), we have a Greek joke book whose contents have survived to today.
That book, Philogelos, (full book here) dates to around the 4th or 5th century AD and includes
265 jokes, a selection of which shows a wide range of humor and, in some cases, how little
basic joke themes have changed over the centuries:
An intellectual was told by someone: "your beard is now coming in."
So he went to the rear-entrance and waited for it.
Another intellectual asked what he was doing.
Once he heard the whole story, he said: "I'm not surprised that people say we lack common
sense.
How do you know that it's not coming in by the other gate?"
Someone needled a jokester: "I had your wife, without paying a dime."
He replied: "It's my duty as a husband to couple with such a monstrosity.
What made you do it?"
A man with bad breath asked his wife: "Madame, why do you hate me?
And she replied: "Because you love me."
A young man invited into his home frisky old women.
He said to his servants: "Mix a drink for one, and have sex with the other, if she wants
to."
The women spoke up as one: "I'm not thirsty."
A misogynist was sick, at death's door.
When his wife said to him, "If anything bad happens to you, I'll hang myself,"
he looked up at her and said: "Do me the favor while I'm still alive."
An intellectual during the night ravished his grandmother and for this got a beating
from his father.
The intellectual complained: "You've been mounting my mother for a long time, without
suffering any consequences from me.
And now you're mad that you found me screwing your mother for the first time ever!?"
Consulting a hotheaded doctor, a fellow says: "Professor, I'm unable to lie down or
stand up; I can't even sit down."
The doctor responds: "I guess the only thing left is to hang yourself."
A student dunce went swimming and almost drowned.
So now he swears he'll never get into water until he's really learned to swim.
A misogynist stood in the marketplace and announced: "I'm putting my wife up for
sale, tax-free!"
When people asked him why, he said: "So the authorities will impound her."
Finally, there are a few riddles from the 10th century AD Anglo-Saxons recorded in the
Exeter Codex that are generally regarded as the first known English jokes (albeit Old
English) due to their double entendre nature.
For example: "What hangs at a man's thigh and wants to poke the hole that it's often
poked before?
Answer: A key."
And the similar themed:
I am a wondrous creature for women in expectation, a service for neighbors.
I harm none of the citizens except my slayer alone.
My stem is erect, I stand up in bed, hairy somewhere down below.
A very comely peasant's daughter, dares sometimes, proud maiden, that she grips at
me, attacks me in my redness, plunders my head, confines me in a stronghold, feels my
encounter directly, woman with braided hair.
Wet be
that eye.

The European Union Is Running Out Of Time - Duration: 4:11.
Ladies and gentlemen Europe is running out of time.
This is not the story we have been hearing lately.
Things are supposedly great again.
The Euro area is now expected to grow at The breakneck speed of 2.3% in 2018.
The turning point from almost a solid decade of crappy European news was an election that
took place in France in April and May of 2017.
There was a serious concern that Marine Le Pen's Front Nationale would win the election.
Nationalist parties like Le Pen's had been steadily gaining power throughout the EU,
with the June 2016 Brexit vote being their greatest victory.
Nationalists running Poland or Hungary are one thing, but if the Euroskeptic le Pen had
won in France, one of the EU's two most important countries the show would probably
have been over.
Thankfully the very pro European Union Emmanuel Macron saved the day.
Macron gets a lot of good press and I understand why.
If anything I think his accomplishment deserves more attention.
The party he founded just a year earlier, En Marche, didn't just beat Le Pen.
It also blew France's established two party system out of the water.
Can you imagine how cool that would be in the US?
So Macron won the presidency.
Then his party went on to win a parliamentary majority.
And then, last fall, he managed to reform the labor market in a way that his three predecessors
failed to do.
Macron does give me a lot of hope.
But there is another aspect to that election last May.
Marine Le Pen's Party got 33% of the vote.
Four years ago when her Party got 24.8% of the vote in European elections I was optimistic,
even though many others were freaking out.
I thought the nationalists couldn't possibly do any better.
Well they did..
People seem to have tuned out Le Pen's steady March towards power.
Macron is impressive.
But he may also be the EU'S last chance in France.
And France's election wasn't the only one last year.
In Germany everybody was pleased when their nationalist party only managed to become the
third largest party in parliament, after almost tripling its vote.
Austria's nationalist party is now part of the governing coalition.
Italy's election next week is expected to result in more victories for anti-EU, or at
least euroskeptical parties.
The return of economic growth has bought the EU some breathing room.
But the Union is shaky, and there is less money to spread around in the post Brexit
budget that is being negotiated this year.
I guess what I am trying to say is that this break from crisis may be brief and it must
not be squandered.
When people talk about the end of the EU, they act as if we are just talking about the
end of an overly socialized bureaucratic mess.
If that were true I certainly wouldn't miss it.
But we are also talking about the end of a force for stability and shared goals in Europe.
Stable, well established countries like France and Germany would likely be hurt economically
by the end of the EU, but would otherwise probably be fine.
For countries further from the core, however, EU failure is likely to be a much more serious
issue.
We are already seeing new rumblings in the Balkans and on the border WITH Russia to the
east.
And Spain is currently dealing with the resurgence of the Catalan independence movement.
Which is what we will deal with next time.

Philly Teacher Says What Janus Case is Really About - Duration: 2:20.
- The people funding this case,
the Koch brothers,
don't want working people to have strong unions.
Together, we are a threat to their power
and their greed.
I am here from Philadelphia,
representing the 1.7 million members
of the American Federation of Teachers,
in order for us to have continued rights
for collective bargaining across this nation
to fight for the students who have no voice.
In fact, just a few weeks ago,
David Koch told a group of wealthy supporters
that one of their primary goals was to get rid of teachers' unions.
Unions are made up of people like us
who fight every day for a better life for our families
and for those we deeply care about:
those we serve. - [applause and cheers]
If Janus was to pass,
we might likely see more children not have the opportunity
to build their intellectual legacies.
Whose side are you on?
On the side of unions?
Or on the side of the rich?
The Koch brothers and the DeVos family…
it's like a stabbing in the heart.
'Cause it's not just about me.
It's not just about me.
And for them, it's all about just them.
We can't stop. Don't stop
because we are the people.
-The workers, united, will never be defeated!

The released images show Yoo In Youngs transformation into the chic Baek In Ha. Baek In Ha plays a critical role between Yoo Jung and Hong Seol, and was quite loved by fans of the original webtoon.
There was previously a lot of interest regarding Yoo In Youngs casting as Baek In Ha, as the actress is thought to have a similar appearance and aura to the character.
As the girl-crush character of Baek In Ha, Yoo In Young will be significant in the development of the relationships between Yoo Jung, Hong Seol, and her brother Baek In Ho (Park Ki Woong).
Cheese in the Trap will be released in theaters in Korea on March 14.

Galaxy S10 NEWS | Samsung is No Longer Obsessed with Being The First - Duration: 3:01.
So we heard this rumor a while ago that Samsung might change the naming scheme of the Galaxy
S series to Galaxy X from next year onwards.
Well, it turns out that rumor wasn't entirely off, as Samsung mobile division chief DJ Koh
confirmed in an interview at the Mobile World Congress that Samsung is indeed toying with
the idea of not using the Galaxy S10 name going forward.
When asked by reporters about the name of the next Galaxy smartphone, DJ Koh answered,
and I quote "although Samsung will stick to Galaxy, we have been thinking about whether
we need to maintain the S moniker or the numbering system".
Although he didn't get any more specific about what the name might be changed to, this chimes
with previous rumors that the Galaxy S10 would instead be called the Samsung Galaxy X.
Having said that, do keep in mind that, DJ Koh did NOT confirm a name change.
They are only thinking about it and this is far from being a confirmation.
So don't just take it for granted there'll be name change for sure.
DJ Koh also discussed about what lies ahead.
And it seems there will be a slight shift in strategies - one that will change what
we expect to see from Samsung in the years to come.
When talking about hardware innovation, some reporters pointed to Chinese manufacturers
that already have an in-display fingerprint scanner in their phones and that foldable
displays are already being seen in different places than just Samsung leaks.
In response to this comparison, Koh said that Samsung will no longer care about being the
first to bring new tech to the market.
Instead, the company will implement features and technologies that are meaningful enough
to serve the user.
Effectively, Samsung wants to replace flashy gimmicks and tech that might be advanced,
yet not very useful, for a more mature, polished, and stable experience with every new product.
This basically means that Samsung will not launch devices with new technologies just
for the sake of being the first to market.
If that were the case we would have probably seen its in-display fingerprint sensor and
foldable smartphone by now.
The company will wait instead and only launch devices with such new technologies when they're
fully ready for the market.
Anyways, let me know what do you think about this in the comments below and I'll see you
tomorrow...Peace out!

[LFX V6 MIATA] Which Swap Is The Best Swap? - Ep. 1 - Duration: 10:45.
Hello guys! Today is a good day.
It's the first time in almost one year that me and my MX-5 are in the same place
We are at PB Motorsport and if you remember last year the last time that my car broke down
we had to remove the turbo stuff and all the stock MX-5 drivetrain out of the car
All this stuff is now gone but if you notice in front of me There is all these shiny car parts
There is a company called V8Roadsters that creates this kit that allows you to put a modern Camaro
V6 engine in an old MX-5 and they describe the process as almost bolt-on
Everyone loves the first generation Mazda MX-5
It is a fantastic car, with great handling , beautiful chassis balance
But it comes with the problem and the problem is here
The problem is in there!
The actual engine is not bad
It is that the rest of the car is actually so good that makes the engine feel like the weak link
And there is many many ways that you can get power out of the stock drive-train
and if you want to see how living with a turbo MX-5 is
you can actually watch a couple of the previous videos in this channel or search the internet
There are multiple people doing cheap or expensive builds
However the subject of this video is not how you can get more power out of the stock drive-train
The subject of this video is how you can swap inside your MX-5
A newer and more reliable engine so you can actually make more power
without having to worry about reliability issues.
If you have the fabrication skills you can cut and weld your way
and put any engine that you can imagine inside a MX-5
inline 6, V8, V6, electric motors
Whatever you can imagine has been done before!
And at the same time there is so many bolt-on solutions
That even if you decide that you don't have the fabrication skills and you can not do it yourself
you can actually get kits from companies that help you put many different engines
with minimal cutting and welding
One of these kits is the kit that we are going to see today!
I will be honest here and say: There is no perfect swap!
Every single common swap that you see for the MX-5
From the V8s, the K20s and the K24s
and all the different V6s
Every single one of them comes with its own set of problems
and when I was thinking about what I would like to have in my own car
I was pretty sure that I wanted a V8
It wasn't up until the moment that I spoke with the guys at V8Roadsters
that they sort of swayed me towards a different option
That option is the LFX Camaro swap that we are discussing today
and is not a new swap. There is already a couple of cars running with this engine
However is not as common as the V8 swaps.
So we are talking about a V6. A modern V6.
An 3.6 liter, aluminium, direct-inject V6.
Which is a very very cool engine!
You can find this engine in a lot of cars
Camaros, Impalas, different Buicks and Cadillacs
It is a very common General Motors engine.
As usual these GM engines are quite cheap
You can get one of these engines used right now on ebay from 1000 Euro
and they go up to 2000-3000 Euro if you want a low mileage Camaro one.
The Camaro one is the one that you want.
You can actually have 323 horsepower at 6800rpm
which is actually very cool, it's quite a lot of power!
The more I searched about this engine
the more I was convinced that the LFX V6 was actually the engine that I wanted in my MX-5
and then it was only a matter of going to V8Roadasters website
picking all the right parts that I needed
I would say that that prices for a swap start from around 2000 Euro for a subframe and mounts
and climbs all the way up to around 5-6000 Euro if you want everything
Like the complete harness, their own fuel kit, ECU with a tune and a couple of other cool things.
So now you have an engine and you have all these cool parts
and you have to somehow find the way to get all this beautiful power
to Europe, so we can actually do the swap.
And I would like to tell you it was a very straightforward procedure
but it really really wasn't!
At the same time I have no regrets because I can't describe to you the feelings
when this big package from the US arrived in Greece.
I was there with Bill from PB Motorsport when we actually took delivery of the package
It was so cool and we were so excited that we didn't even unpack properly
We didn't have a camera recording while we unpacked the things.
And we are now going to go back to the workshop, we have everything in order around the car
and I'm going to walk you through all the main components that are used to do this swap
As you can clearly see the moment that you remove the engine, you actually have
quite a lot of space here. So let's see what the kit includes.
It's quite interesting to see the stock subframe here
That is already removed. So this is the stock subframe
and you can actually see already here the V8Roadsters item
It is a very very quality piece. Not only the welds are beautiful
Not only it is strong but it is light
And is the same subframe that is being used in all these V8 kits that you see
all the Flyin' Miata V8 cars
Is the same subframe that is being used by KMiata in the K20 cars
This a very commonly used subframe
It has a couple of very important features,
one of them being that it actually retains
the stock MX-5 geometry. This is where the steering rack goes
So basically you end up driving a car that feels like an MX-5
and one of the reasons it will still feel like an MX-5, is this!
This aluminium V6 engine
is not only more powerful, newer and with less kms than what was before in the car
but is also extremely extremely light.
So we expect the final result
to not be much heavier than what was before in the car.
Especially if you think that my car was turbo
and had all these extra stuff that you need
to have a working(?) turbo conversion.
Not only you have this brand new aluminium engine
this narrow-angle V6 that is very light
and much more reliable,
DFI and all the cool features that you find in a modern car
We also have a transmission behind this engine
sits an Aisin transmission.
It can probably take double the power of what the stock MX-5 transmission can take
You can see here the new frame-rail braces
If you remember my car originally had the Flyin'Miata ones
So these have to be removed for the V8Roadsters one to go in
because they also help you position the new transmission mount
This the transmission mount
and this is the diff brace.
The actual engine mounts, that only they are very very strong
but they are also extremely light
And here you can see the much beefier Getrag diff.
This diff can take all the power that stock MX-5 diff can not take
and of course you can actually see here the main axle
and driveshafts. This is some mounts that have to be welded in the stock rear subframe.
But basically this covers transmission-wise everything that you need
You can actually see here the modified oil-pan
V8Roadsters removes this part, welds it again, moves the bung around.
The difference might be small but is very important.
These are the downpipes.
Basically this engine has
You can see here, this engine has no exhaust manifolds
The exahust manifold is actually cast into the head
and that means that you don't need create special exhaust manifolds
This makes everything easier packaging-wise.
We have the ECU there.
And we have here a couple of misc stuff
power-steering lines, clutch lines
We also have a brake kit.
We have this brand new kit
that V8Roadsters is creating with Stop-tech
Is a very very cool kit.
Unfortunately I can not use my 13in wheels anymore with this kit
so I will have to go for 15s.
You can actually see that there are 15s temporarily in the car
And that is basically it!
I think that is for today!
We showed you all the important parts that you need to put that engine in here.
We are going to start this process in the next couple of days,
so stay tuned for the next couple of weeks
there are going to be a couple of cool videos coming.
We are not going to film the procedure step by step
but still we are going to show you all the difficult parts
If you have any questions
about why we picked this engine
or what we are exactly doing
make sure you leave them in the comments below
and don't forget to subscribe.
We are going to see this car soon, driving, back at the 'Ring.
And that is a promise!

How deep is your tech? | Re:3D | HT Alumni Interview - Duration: 1:40.
We're working to decimate the two biggest barriers to 3D printing
cost and scale
so using the 15,000 euros that we won two years ago Hello Tomorrow
we're modifying Gigabot, our 3D printer that's huge to be able to 3D print from plastic waste
that's right, water bottles and trash laying around landfills worldwide
Recently we were honored to win the 1 million dollar Global Creator Award Prize
which has given us the resources to be able to get health care benefits
for our team
and also to make 3D printing from garbage a reality
in the next 12 months
I have to say our favourite is Lillium Jet
who have also become our customers
and we have several friends from the Unreasonable Impact
including Biocarbon Engineering, so it's been a really
great opportunity to reconnect with people we already know.
Our dream product to 3D print is a composting toilet
that's what inspired the size of Gigabot
and we believe in inspiring social solutions with our platform.
I'm a big fan of the dollar
I like to go old school
what with bootstrapping a hardware company
I haven't had enough time to jump on
the block chain bandwagon.
I would say hello, we're a community based organization
by building a community
we think we can create
the future of tomorrow.
