My name is Gayle Wilde and this is my urban search and rescue dog called Taz.
To be perfectly honest I don't know what I'd do without him.
He's a brilliant dog.
He's a fantastic working dog.
And at home he just likes to curl up, in a wee ball,
sometimes on your lap, and run after a tennis ball like all Collies.
Taz is a search dog that's been trained to do
urban, rural and coastline riverbank searches.
So my role is he'll come back and he'll tell me where he believes a casualty is
and he'll lead me to that particular spot.
In this kind of environment he'll have boots on,
Just to protect his feet.
And his jacket on with light so he can see where he's going.
Do you know what, looking back the proudest I could have been was at The Clutha.
I remember en route we were told that the
police helicopter had landed on The Clutha and tasked with searching
the rubble pile and surrounding area to locate people within the rubble pile itself.
The building came down in such a way that it almost came down in three stages.
So it needed someone who was very small like a dog
to actually get into those spaces.
And the dog was perfect.
When he's actually on the job and he's got his coat on,
he hears his bell, has his harness on and hears his bell,
he goes straight into work mode - no question.
It showed immense courage to actually go into something
which was still dynamic.
Round about it there was rubble falling, there was still dust everywhere.
It managed to save lives in the sense that people who were working there weren't put at risk.
It was indispensable.
You train as best as you can in all different environments,
but that night he just showed what a wonderful dog he was.
I think Taz is just a hero.
It's a remarkable dog, and when called upon to serve, it's absolutely
unique.
Training Taz has been a long journey.
He has gone above and beyond what I expected of him.
He just overcomes every hurdle that we show him.
To be Taz's owner makes me unbelievably proud of him.
It really, really does.

I'm Hannah and this is Button's, my four-year old Shi Tzu.
I got her in 2013 and she came along just at the right time, really.
They're so lovely to watch.
Hannah's quite an introverted girl, always has been.
And this has really opened up a whole new chapter in her life.
It wasn't really until I got back from hospital after being
in a high-dependency unit for two weeks that I really noticed our bond.
We'd been backwards and forwards to the doctors for
about a year previous with various ailments.
It was pretty horrendous.
She was emergency 'blues-and-twosed' to the
John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxfordshire.
Everything was going wrong.
Every single day was going wrong.
At that point you kind of then realise as a parent
that you might lose your child.
And you just sit beside the bedside waiting for a miracle.
And when she woke up from these seizures she just woke up and said:
"Mum, I'm hungry", so that was our turning point.
As soon as we got home, of course, the dog and her
were like glue really.
When I came back she was just all over me and we spent a good couple of months,
I was camped out on the sofa quite a lot, and she literally didn't leave my side.
When I got out of hospital, because I had to
go on quite an intense course of steroids, I was quite overweight.
So my doctor suggested that I get into exercise.
We did some research and we found dog agility, and we haven't looked back since.
We just started competing and she is smashing it, basically.
She loves it so much.
At the end of the day, that's what you want from a pet, isn't it.
You want them to be your soulmate, your best friend, you know.
It's helped bring her out of her shell because she
can be a little bit shy at times - much like me.
She's definitely more than just a dog.

I think I saw in Jack what I saw in myself.
People had given up on Jack, a little bit like people had given up on me
as a child.
First thing I'd say about Jack is he loves being in front of the camera.
He loves to pose and hopefully he loves being with me.
He'd had three homes before me.
And I couldn't walk him on the beach, I couldn't walk him with other dogs
because of his behavior problems.
Sort of fear aggression, no socialisation with other dogs whatsoever,
and he would turn on me as well.
People don't believe me that he was like that.
I had many moments when I thought 'Oh my goodness, am I going to be able to
turn this dog around?
I guess there was a little part of me that wanted
to prove other people wrong as well.
I've had an extensive psychiatric history.
My main problems have been Anorexia, PTSD and Dissociative Disorders.
That's a medley that creates for quite a difficult existence.
Jack is certainly the first thing that I've ever, ever attached to
and he's taught me what love is. I owe Jack for teaching me some of the most
fundamental emotions that humans should have,
and maybe things that people take for granted.
I mean he's got to the stage now where he's been
accepted to train as my assistance dog.
If I need my medication he will retrieve that to me,
so he's pretty in tune with my needs.
I've got more out of Jack than I would have ever believed.
I think that very indication to me shows me really
how far he has come.
The work that he's done is astonishing really.
It sounds, I don't know, a little bit corny but he honestly saves my life every day.
He is the reason I carry on.

or even make eye contact.
To a child that is happy to explain 'This is my hearing dog,
this is what they do for me'.
It is a massive change.
Sarah is profoundly deaf, her deafness is caused by CMV infection.
It was a shock to the family because we were thinking of how
her future is going to be and everything.
It has affected her on a daily basis.
She wouldn't communicate with others, she wouldn't make any eye contact
with anybody out and about.
I couldn't sleep at night time without her and now I can, she always checks on me.
Before I had struggled with friendships and stuff like that.
I wouldn't talk to strangers or tell them 'This is my dog'.
But now I'm proud to say it.
She brings joy, happiness, and just seeing the smile on her face will
make our day because its been huge what Waffle has brought for her.
In the morning when the alarm goes off, she wakes me up before school.
She jumps on my bed, I give her fuss and then I get just ready for school.
If Sarah is upstairs in her room, we will say 'Waffle go call Sarah'.
She will go upstairs and go get Sarah and bring her downstairs.
We have a purse that we put a message in it and she will take it to Sarah
and then bring it back for us.
When I was applying for a hearing dog, I didn't think that it will have such
a huge impact on our lives.
It has brought her confidence, it has brought her everything to be honest.
It has brought her…
What she is now, is because of Waffle.
I feel really lucky and there's nothing I can't do without her.
I don't feel shy anymore when I'm with her.
I feel brave with her.

The book started to flip-flop up and down and say, "Gwackh!"

"We'll pull the book apart, and Hailey will fall out."
So a bunch of kids got on each side of the book, and they tried to pull it apart.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHH!" yelled Hailey.
"You're STRETCHING me!"
"Just twist the book and Hailey will pop right out," said Kiku.
They started to twist the book really hard.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHH!" yelled Hailey.
"You're SCRUNCHING me!"
"This scraping and pulling and twisting are not working," the kids said.
"We have to think of something different."
"Photocopy!" yelled Cole.
"We can use the photocopy machine in the staff room and copy Hailey out of the book."
So everyone ran to the staff room and Cole tried to copy Hailey out of the book,
but the machine only made pictures of Hailey.
The real Hailey was still in the book.
"I know what to do!" said Laura.
"We can squeeze her out of the book."
She put the book on the floor and everyone got on top.
For a while nothing happened.
Then Hailey's nose sproinged out of the book.
The book looked really strange with a nose.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHH!" yelled Hailey.
"You're squishing me!"
The kids jumped off.
"Well," said Ethan, "at least the principal will be happy."
"And," said Cole, "Mrs. O'Dell LOVES having someone in her class in a book."
"But," said Kiku, "Hailey's mom and dad will not be happy that their kid is stuck in a book!
How can you kiss someone goodnight when she is stuck in a book?"
"I've got it!" said Laura.
"We can change the ending."
They ran back to the park, took the writer's marker, and wrote at the end of the book:
Then Hailey jumped out of the book and told the writer to find some other kid for his story.
"I don't understand," said the writer.
"It is an honor to be in a book."
"RIGHT," said Hailey.
She took the marker and wrote:
And then the writer wrote himself into the book. He could not get out and was stuck there FOREVER!
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" yelled the writer from inside the book.
Jakob opened it and said, "Don't worry, it's an honor to be in a book."
Then Hailey gave the book to the librarian.
The librarian LOVED having a writer in the library.
And the book was very popular because it was the only one that bounced up and down on the shelf and yelled,
"HELP! HELP! HELP!"

The Ayurvedic medicines which were given to her have showed quite successful results.
The purpose of this video is to tell everyone that autoimmune disorders can be improved by Ayurvedic medicines so that they can also be benefitted by it.
Ma'am, how long have you been suffering from this ailment?
Sir, it's been 6 years.
Where else did you seek treatment for this disorder?
I took treatment from PGI, Chandigarh for 3 years.
Till the time I took the medicines I got mild relief but I never had a lot of relief.
I had to take painkillers regularly.
Since I started the Ayurvedic medicines, I felt better from the very first day.
Painkillers create a lot of complications.
Yes, painkillers are very harmful.
After how long did you get off the painkillers post starting your treatment here?
In the beginning, I had to take it once in a week then, once in 15 days.
Now, I have to take it once in a month at times.
Mr. Manish, what happens in this disorder is that our skin gets really tight.
Yes, very tight just like a stone.
It diminishes the elasticity of the skin.
Raynaud's phenomenon causes discoloration of the fingers giving it a bluish color
due to the lack of blood supply caused by vasoconstriction which constricts the blood vessels.
We correlate this with Ama (toxins) in Ayurveda which means the accumulation of toxins in the body hindering the circulation.
It involves the obstruction of channels.
We unblock those channels which promote elasticity and decrease the Raynaud's phenomenon.
Did your fingers turn blue?
Yes, sir. All my fingers would turn blue.
In winters, right?
Did you have any other problem?
I would get small wounds on my fingers, too.
And since when have you not had these symptoms?
From the time I started this treatment, these are my 1st winters.
Can you open your mouth completely?
Yes, sir.

Do you feel any stiffness?
Has the elasticity increased?
Not in my mouth but there is a lot of improvement in my hands.
Earlier, I couldn't clench my hands but now I can, to a great extent.
That means this disease caused a lot of stiffness in your body.
Yes, a lot of stiffness.
Now, you're feeling a lot of improvement?
Yes, there's a lot of relief.
In Scleroderma, I would like to tell the patients to avoid milk and milk products.
Did you also avoid them?
Yes, sir.
This is because milk and milk products produce a lot of toxins, cause morning stiffness
Yes, mornings are very troublesome.
What is the percentage of your improvement now?
Around 50-60%
How long has it been since you started your treatment?
It's been 7 months.
It's been 7 months and she is 50% better.
Scleroderma is a complicated disorder which has a prolonged treatment.
My biggest problem was taking the pain killer which has now been stopped.
Just like she said, she took treatment from PGI for 3 years but found no effective results.
Moreover, she has also got off her painkillers.
She has also got around 60 % relief in 7 months.
And her pain has also reduced.
Yes, sir. Pain has decreased quite a lot.
For that we use Guggul for that. I gave her Kaishore guggul, Gandhak rasayana.
I would like it show it to the patients.
Kaishore Guggul, Gandhak Rasayana, Boswellia Curcumin, Rumogin 5, Hakam Churna, a few decoctions and Manjistha capsules.
I will highlight Gandhak Rasayana here as it's really good for the skin and helps retain its elasticity.
Gandhak is sulphur.
In the modern medical system, Sulphur can be given just through diet.
But, in Ayurveda we have a Sulphur based medicine called Gandhak Rasayana, it maintain and improves the luster of the skin.
Gandhak Rasayana is a classical formulation in Ayurveda.
Classical formulations are a miracle.
The person who does not get cured by anything, improves after taking the classical formulations.
For improving digestion and circulation, I have prescribed her some decoctions which are Dashmoolarishta, Punarnavarishta.
Along with this, I've given her Manjistha capsules to improve the shine of the skin.
Hakam Churna is for digestion and Rumogin5 is used to treat disorders like Rheumatoid Arthritis, it is also digestive.
All these medicines have their own importance in the treatment.
Yes. These medicines are improving her condition gradually
and I hope you get cured quickly and then, we'll film your video again after 6 months.

I was born with a condition called Ehlers-Danlos Syndome.
It's a connective tissue disorder which affects my joints.
Meaning I dislocate, I've got very soft and fragile skin,
it affects my organs.
I've been a full-time wheelchair user since the age of 13.
I cannot walk, stand or straighten both knees.
Reaching for something I can dislocate my shoulder, my fingers, my wrist.
So I do need quite a lot of help.
I cannot eat at all and I can only swallow little bits of liquid at a time.
I didn't feel like I had a reason to get up in the morning.
I literally just lived life in four walls and that was it.
When I applied for a canine partner I didn't quite understand
how much the dog would help me.
So Griffin has over a hundred tasks that he can do day-to-day.
Opening and closing doors, load and unload the washing machine,
he gets the phone when it rings.
And all I have to do is say "Griffin, phone, get it",
and off he goes and brings it back to me.
He goes and gets his jacket for me to put on,
ready for us to go out and about.
Now I have Griffin I don't need any carers.
I don't need any help.
We work as a team.
Whatever I can't do, he does for me.
I just thought it was a dog to help me physically, but Griffin has exceeded my expectations
of what an assistance dog can do.
When we go out and about, we always get stopped.
I've never had so many friends.
Griffin is definitely my best friend.
He's a little bit of my hero as well.
He's done some amazing things for me.
Life as a disabled person is just…it can be so hard.
You're very invisible, which is one of the things I love
about having Griffin - he's opened up a whole new world for me.
