Waching daily Jan 5 2017

Hi. My name is Connor. I have DCD.

DCD stands for Developmental Coordination Disorder,

which means that I have trouble with

activities that need coordination.

Full-body activities are hard,

kicking a soccer ball and playing basketball are

the worst.

It's hard for me to move and react

quickly at the same time.

Coordinating my hands can be frustrating

when I'm handwriting or texting.

Just staying balanced when walking downstairs

takes effort.

Most people don't understand why I struggle -

even scientists don't know the cause of DCD -

but they do know that it is real.

It can show up in kids who just have DCD,

or in kids who have learning or attention problems.

People who don't know about DCD call me names -

like lazy or clumsy -

and tell me that I am not trying hard enough.

When I started high school,

I wanted to be more independent.

I used a lock with a simple combination.

My backpack was organized with folders for loose papers.

I wore clothes without buttons or zippers,

and my mom packed lunches in easy-to-open containers.

She also drove me to school because

walking with a backpack is tiring.

I still cannot ride a bike.

High school did get easier.

The DCD didn't change - it doesn't go away -

but things around me changed

and I started to feel better about myself.

In grade 10, I was taught how to MATCH.

I learned how to MATCH each activity with

what I can do using these steps:

Modify the task;

Alter the expectations;

Try new strategies;

Change the environment;

Help others to understand how to help me.

Learning how to MATCH was the key.

I had to take Phys. Ed, but I hated team sports

and being picked last.

Practice never helped.

I couldn't even hit a badminton birdie in grade 9.

It was embarrassing and I barely passed.

My mom encouraged me to talk to the Phys. Ed teacher.

I learned that in Grade 10 Phys. Ed,

students do lifestyle activities, like canoeing and yoga,

and participate in more individual activities,

like fitness training.

My teacher promised to show me how to

modify and use the equipment.

She also said that I would only compete

with myself to see how much I improve.

Grade 10 Phys. Ed was a success.

I even made some friends who aren't as interested in sports,

and we join the school yearbook together.

In grade 12, I used MATCH in chemistry class.

I had a friend, Sam, who let me watch

while he used the lab equipment.

But a few times, Sam had to miss our lab class.

I was anxious and I didn't want to struggle

using the equipment in front of everyone.

I decided to talk to my chemistry teacher,

Miss B, and I told her that I have DCD.

I told her that every class is likely to have

one kid who has DCD, but that

every kid with DCD is different.

Miss B thought that using MATCH was a great idea -

so we tried it.

We changed how I did my lab reports -

I could use my computer and

take pictures with my phone, instead of drawing.

Miss B gave me extra days to complete lab assignments,

and she offered to help me learn to use the equipment

when other kids weren't around.

Miss B said that I could work with another group

whenever Sam was away.

She also gave me extra time on my lab quizzes and

let me write them in a quiet room.

Using MATCH helped.

Living with DCD makes me tired and

completing homework at night can be hard.

My math teacher has a

website and posts homework problems online -

which helps everyone.

It helps me because my handwriting is messy

and I make mistakes when I copy notes in class.

My math teacher also gave me

an extra textbook to keep at home.

Having one less book to carry lightens the load.

Little changes have made a big difference for

my success in high school.

So, the next time you see a student

in your class struggling with coordination,

think of me.

Simple changes will allow me to do my best work

and stay confident.

With your support,

high school and DCD can be a perfect match!

That didn't quite work out.

Mmm. [ Slurps ]

[ Whistle blows ]

Ooh! Can I get a splish-splash, huh?!

A little somethin'-somethin'. We could all use that, right?

A little peppermint schnapps. Who's got some?

Hey, let's go, Scotty! Go! You got this!

Give me an "S"! Give me a "C"!

All right, I'll shut up! Ha ha!

Look at these kids. Look at them.

Scotty! Go! You got this, Scotty!

They're so embarrassed by their moms at this age.

Right? You know?

I mean, geez. It's not like I'm gonna take my top off!

That was last year.

School spirit, ooh. [ Chuckles ]

No, seriously, though, these kids, man.

They got so much energy, right? It's beautiful.

I mean, I exercise, too, right?

When someone says, "Last call,"

you've never seen me run so fast!

Ha ha!

Push-ups? I do push-ups. Push-up bras.

Yeah!

Curls, too. 12 ounces, baby. Yeah.

Okay, get out of my house with that...

SpaceX Report Regarding Second stage explosion and preparation for the Iridium NEXT Launch - Duration: 4:25.

Below are updates regarding the anomaly that occurred in preparation for the AMOS-6 mission:

January 2, 2017, 9:00am EST Over the past four months, officials at the

Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the U.S. Air Force (USAF), the National Aeronautics

and Space Administration (NASA), the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), along

with several industry experts, have collaborated with SpaceX on a rigorous investigation to

determine the cause of the anomaly that occurred September 1 at Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40)

at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.

This investigation team was established according to SpaceX's accident investigation plan as

approved by the FAA.

As the primary federal licensing body, the FAA provided oversight and coordination for

the investigation.

Investigators scoured more than 3,000 channels of video and telemetry data covering a very

brief timeline of events – there were just 93 milliseconds from the first sign of anomalous

data to the loss of the second stage, followed by loss of the vehicle.

Because the failure occurred on the ground, investigators were also able to review umbilical

data, ground-based video, and physical debris.

To validate investigation analysis and findings, SpaceX conducted a wide range of tests at

its facilities in Hawthorne, California and McGregor, Texas.

The accident investigation team worked systematically through an extensive fault tree analysis and

concluded that one of the three composite overwrapped pressure vessels (COPVs) inside

the second stage liquid oxygen (LOX) tank failed.

Specifically, the investigation team concluded the failure was likely due to the accumulation

of oxygen between the COPV liner and overwrap in a void or a buckle in the liner, leading

to ignition and the subsequent failure of the COPV.

Each stage of Falcon 9 uses COPVs to store cold helium which is used to maintain tank

pressure, and each COPV consists of an aluminum inner liner with a carbon overwrap.

The recovered COPVs showed buckles in their liners.

Although buckles were not shown to burst a COPV on their own, investigators concluded

that super chilled LOX can pool in these buckles under the overwrap.

When pressurized, oxygen pooled in this buckle can become trapped; in turn, breaking fibers

or friction can ignite the oxygen in the overwrap, causing the COPV to fail.

In addition, investigators determined that the loading temperature of the helium was

cold enough to create solid oxygen (SOX), which exacerbates the possibility of oxygen

becoming trapped as well as the likelihood of friction ignition.

The investigation team identified several credible causes for the COPV failure, all

of which involve accumulation of super chilled LOX or SOX in buckles under the overwrap.

The corrective actions address all credible causes and focus on changes which avoid the

conditions that led to these credible causes.

In the short term, this entails changing the COPV configuration to allow warmer temperature

helium to be loaded, as well as returning helium loading operations to a prior flight

proven configuration based on operations used in over 700 successful COPV loads.

In the long term, SpaceX will implement design changes to the COPVs to prevent buckles altogether,

which will allow for faster loading operations.

SpaceX is targeting return to flight from Vandenberg's Space Launch Complex 4E (SLC-4E)

with the Iridium NEXT launch on January 8.

SpaceX greatly appreciates the support of our customers and partners throughout this

process, and we look forward to fulfilling our manifest in 2017 and beyond.

Power BI - Reading files from a folder since November 2016 upgrade - Duration: 21:11.

I am Marcel Beugelsdijk from The Netherlands

In this video we will take a closer look at the functionality of importing and combining

files from a folder since the November 2016 upgrade of Power BI Desktop.

It's quite a long video. Below the video you will find links to the various subjects so you can

jump back and forth as you like.

Subjects covered:

Explanation of the used case: so we will combine Excel files from a folder

that includes clock changes for each Windows time zone in the period 2000 to 2027.

So the date/times in any time zone can be converted to date/times in any other time zone.

A quick demo of importing and combining files from a folder.

Explanation of the objects and query steps created automatically when files are combined.

A specific point of attention for which I raised an idea for improvement.

Adjustment of generated code to filter input for a specific year only.

First without parameters and then with parameters.

And there is a specific point of attention as well.

So, let's give it a start.

In this folder, I have a collection of Excel files,

with date and time stamps the clock is changing between the year 2000 and 2027

for each Windows time zone.

Let's take a look at one of the files.

It includes the UTC time stamp starting with January first, 2000

and the local time - "Lokaal" is Dutch for "local" - for this time zone it's also midnight at

January first, 2000.

And then for each change of clocks, so typically that would be Daylight Saving Time

start and end, or just a change in policy to adjust clocks, there will be an entry in the list.

This is created from a Power Query query and the files for each time zone are the same.

Basically what I did was create the first file, have the query run, then save it,

then adjust the time zone on my local computer, then run the query again,

and save it with the name of the new time zone and so forth and so forth for 130 time zones.

Each file has the same structure, which is important,

and all output is in a table named TimeTable

You also should notice that the name of the Windows time zone is not in the file,

not in the data, but it is included in the name of the file, so if we want to combine the files,

with all the time stamps for all the Windows time zones,

then we also need the name of the file.

Montevideo on the third of February, 2020, 5 minutes to 5,

it will be already fourth of February 2020, 5 minutes to 7 in Bougainville,

So with the combined data it is possible to calculate the time in one time zone

based on the time in another time zone.

Now, I've come to the quick demo on importing and combining files from a folder.

So, I have a new file in Power BI, I select Get Data, More...

from a folder.

I use the folder over here, so I copy the path...

...paste it over here.

OK

Edit

I need to do some filtering on Excel files

And they should start with "UTC"

Open parenthesis UTC, to be exact.

So OK, now we have all the files that we need,

And we can now combine those files with the new functionality, if we press the button,

then we need to select which part of the Excel file we need, well we need the TimeTables,

the tables "TimeTable"

When we press OK...

...there we have the result we want, with the file names in the first column,

the UTC time in the second column, and the third column is the local time for that time zone

at the specified UTC time.

So far the quick demo.

We are now at the explanation of the objects and query steps that are created automatically

when files are combined from a folder.

We were over here before we pressed "Combine Binaries".

4 steps are added to the query, but - in order to understand those steps -

we first have to take a look at the objects that were created at the left hand side.

These are all grouped now, so our own query is over here,

In the group "Other Queries".

And a group "Transform Binary from DateTimeTables" was added automatically.

So the functionality of combining files consists of a sample file

with a sample query that is wrapped into a function that can be used for the other files.

So what we see are the objects over here:

First we have the Sample Binary that is the example file.

This query consists of the query steps we already had

and - if we take a look at the advanced editor -

well, this is the new step that is added:

basically it states that we use the Casablanca file as an example file.

In this query - that was also automatically created - we can see the source:

these are the Excel objects in the Casablanca file.

and the navigation is what we specified on the popup screen in the short demo:

this is the navigation to the item "Table" of the kind "Table" in the file for Casablanca.

So this will be used as an example for all the other files as well.

For this goal, this query - if we take a look at the advanced editor again - let's copy, cancel

This part is wrapped into a function for general use.

So if we go into the editor then we will see a message popping up:

stating that this function is automatically updated whenever that sample query is updated,

So that's fine for now (I won't update it, except if I paste the code we had from the sample query)

then we can see it's exactly this part of the function,

so this code is wrapped into a function with the parameter: the file contents.

So the name of that parameter is "Sample Binary Parameter".

If I go back to the objects, then we can see this parameter

which is pointing to the Sample Binary file.

So again: in the example query of the sample file, we can see

the "Source" where the parameter is used.

This parameter is used to point to the Sample Binary file,

which is the file for Casablanca, which is the first file in the folder.

And that is used in the function...

...also as a parameter, but now you should notice, that

this parameter is the parameter of the function,

so input is whatever content is supplied to the function,

That is used to convert the Excel file binary into a table in Power Query.

So this parameter is the LOCAL parameter for the function, whereas in the query...

...the parameter that is used, is not the local parameter,

but that is THIS parameter pointing to the sample file,

So again: the Sample Binary is used as an example;

the parameter is used so the exact contents of this sample query

can be included in this function.

Whenever we adjust something in the sample query, it will also be adjusted in the function.

So these are the objects that are created.

Now we can take a look at the additional steps that were added in our query.

So the first one is that the function is invoked.

That is the custom function that was created by the software

when we pressed "Combine Binaries".

Well, a new column is added to our table.

The query that is called, is this transform query.

And the parameter for that query now is the content

meaning each of the binary files from our folder.

If we go to the right in the table,

then we will see all the tables over here as a result from the "Invoke Custom Function" step

in our query, so this is the file for Casablanca,

this is another file and so on, each table, based on the sample query, using that function.

The next step is a rename of the " Name" column.

It is renamed to "Source.Name" to avoid any conflicts with a column with the name "Name"

in the Excel files, when the table is expanded later on.

So that's the only reason that this step is included.

Then, there is another step that removes all the other columns from the navigation table,

so we are left with the file name and the tables, exactly what we want in our case,

but if you would like to have some more columns,

then you can still choose the additional columns from the navigation table

like the "Date Modified"...

...and it will be included in the results of the combining binaries,

which is a huge improvement with the functionality that was introduced

in November 2016.

But we only need the Source.Name and the contents of the binary.

And the last step of course, is: the table will be expanded.

So again - as a wrap up - when we press "Combine Binaries" -

a sample file is created, with a parameter pointing to that sample file,

a query is created for the conversion of the file into a Power Query table.

That example query is wrapped into a function that is used for all the other files in the folder,

to have that converted to a Power Query table.

And then, there is some rename and selection of columns and expanding the table.

So basically, that's the functionality introduced with Power BI Desktop, November 2016 update.

We are now at the specific point of attention for which I raised an idea for improvement.

So let's take a look.

In the Sample Binary there is a hard coded link to the Casablanca file in the folder.

If that file would no longer exist, for instance we rename it with an additional parenthesis,

If we update, refresh, this query, so our master query,

it will still go fine.

But if we want to do something with this query, and have it refreshed,

then we get an error because the file doesn't exist any longer.

So, in order to solve that, I raised an Idea

bascially to have...

...this hardcoded line, replaced by...

...another code. Basically what is done is: the first row of this table, so the last step before

combining binaries, is taken as an example.

So all we need is...

... that file ...

... and instead of this double key, so the folder path and the file name,

we only use zero, pointing to the first row in the table

and then the content of that table

Adjust this name: SampleBinary.

And now we have a dynamic sample binary pointing to the first file in the folder,

whichever selection we have done.

So we will not be dependent anymore of the existence of a specific file in the folder.

So you can see I raised this Idea

to have the "combine binaries" functionality independent

from the existence of a particular file.

At this moment, the Idea has 5 votes already, but if you want to vote also,

then please go ahead.

We are now at the part of the video

where we are going to adjust the generated code to filter the input for specific years only.

We will adjust this query

and remember: all the adjustments we apply to this query

will be propagated to this function as well, as we will see.

So what we wanna to do, is get all the entries starting with a specific year,

so let's say we want to have the years 2016 and 2017.

We also need the last row before that date, so we should start with the last date on or before

January first, 2016, and then select everything including these entries,

so we have the years 2016 and 2017.

So now we have the desired data, so we can

cover the years 2016 and 2017 from this selection.

If we take a look at the function: it is indeed adjusted

with our adjustments of the sample query.

So these selections will now be applied to all the tables from the folder we selected.

We can see it's refreshed already, so this is the desired output.

Now if we want to use a parameter for that,

so instead of hardcoded start dates and end dates, over here and over here,

we want to have a parameter.

Now we are going to use these parameters in the example query.

2016 is the first year.

LastYear instead of hardcoded 2017.

So this is working fine.

But if we go now to the master query, there is a point of attention:

We get an expression error.

Because: 2 parameters are added to our function.

The function is also adjusted, and now includes those additional parameters

FirstYear and LastYear.

So when we use parameters in our adjusted sample query

these will be propagated to the function as well

but not to the code in our master query

so in this code, we need to add the new parameters FirstYear and LastYear.

We can not do that over here, as you can see, because it expects a decimal number.

So instead of doing it over there, we have to do it over here.

And it's working fine now.

So now we have the years 2016 and 2018.

And when we adjust this year

Last year for instance 2020

then we will get additional data in our table.

So beware of adding parameters in your sample query:

these will be propogated to the function, but not to your master query

and in order to have that corrected, you need to go into the function bar

and add the names of the parameters that were added to the function.

Then everything will be working fine.

As a last example: if we want to adjust the data type for these columns in our sample query,

to datetime...

...and we take a look at

at these columns, then we see that the date type was not propagated to all the files.

in the folder. So we have to reapply that in the final result.

Because the example query is used to create all these tables,

but later on these tables get expanded and then apparently the data type gets lost

so it seems to be pretty useless to adjust the data type in the example query.

That will be the end of the video. Thanks for your attention!

Camera Backpack: Manfrotto Pro-Light Camera Backpack (3N1-36) for DSLR, Canon C100 & DJI Phantom - Duration: 8:46.

Hello again, Izzy at Digital Goja showrooms.

Huge bag! Even though they call

this their Light-Pro or their Pro-Light.

This is the MB PL 3-in-1 36 Pro-Light from

Manfrotto, beautiful bag.

We're going to take a closer look.

As always, if this video helps you out hit me

up with a Like button underneath and

subscribe to our channel for future

tutorials, unboxings and frequently

asked questions. And don't forget, if

you're ever in Miami come say hello to

me at Digital Goja showrooms.

So, here we have the new Manfrotto Pro-Light,

this is basically their lightest

material, empty weighs a little bit over 4 Lbs.

but it's meant to accommodate

some serious equipment. It's Ripstop Nylon,

which is water repellent and synthetic

fabric. This holds some pro gear in here,

I mean, so this is meant for the prosumer

or the advanced user, because if you used

to working with DSLRs you're going to

have up to 7 lenses in here, a flash

and a full-frame DSLR with a battery grip.

You also have different fasteners

so you can move stuff around, I'm going

to show you. You have multiple entry points

on here, so you can turn it into a sling

design bag or a standard backpack.

Course, if you're doing video, it's going to

allow you to work with something like

the Canon C100 Mark II with the handles,

a lens attached, microphone and even up

to three additional lenses and a backup

body. Plus, if you're some of the new age

videographers and photographers now

that like to work with drones this has the

room for a DJI Phantom 4 and even a

backup camera and some lenses.

So lets take a look at the inside of this guy.

First,

this is the

bottom opening in the front and notice

how, instantly, I have a huge lens in here.

This is my 6D with the 70-200 2.8 and that fits

very comfortably in there. And, on the

side pocket here, this is your rain cover,

even though, again, this is water

repellent treatment system, this does

have an additional rain cover that gives

you the added protection if you're

caught in a huge downpour. Notice how I was

able to fit a flash there and you also

have this pocket which is, again,

everything has velcro so you can

actually remove everything and set it up

to your liking and this guy allows you

to now store extra batteries, memory cards,

whatnot, right in here. So that's a really

nice added benefit. Now let's see if we

can move further up so I can show you

the rest of the space in here. Now notice

how I have 3 full-size lenses. I mean,

I'm not skimping on equipment here,

I have a very standard all around lens

that you need in today's full-frame

market, a 24-105, I threw in my favorite

Sigma 50mm 1.4 and for giggles

I brought on my 100 macro, beautiful

lens of course. So notice how easily all

this equipment fits in here and I still

have room to spare.

I actually took out some of the padding

and dividers here, this is of course

their very popular, very well padded

dividers.

Let's close this guy up and notice how

you have this system of closing for the

zippers, makes it a lot easier to close

it up. Course here's where you have the

capability of connecting a tripod if you

choose to. Course Manfrotto products are

going to give you the ability of taking

a tripod along. Now let me show you how

easily it is to access the side pocket.

So let's say you want to convert this to a

sling bag,

notice how I can now open this side up

and if I'm right or left-handed I can

access the camera from here, or, I can

flip it around the other way and now I

have the same capability on this side.

So that way you can access your gear

without having to use it as a backpack,

very thoughtful. Honestly a lot of

thought went into putting this guy

together. And back here you have your

laptop compartment, which gives you nice

procession for up to a 15" laptop.

And here is the harness system, very

extensive, very well-thought-out, great

lumbar support and notice how you have

the trolley attachment here, so if you

want to put it onto your carry-on you

can do so. And of course this, is TSA

approved size for a carry-on, so you can

take this guy onto the plane with you.

So there you have it, it's basically a

prosumer advanced design backpack that

Manfrotto has put on the market because

face it, there are a lot of us that now

are going into video, so you can work

with the larger video cameras and also

the drone system. Very modular, notice how

you have the top handle grip here,

so this allows you to carry it. I can go

on and on about all the external pockets

that this has but it has plenty of room

so you can take everything you would

need with you at all times. And notice

how you also have the top loading area

here, almost forgot about that, cause you can access it

this way and voila!

I put my video light in here with an

extra battery so, and you have more

compartments for storage.

Now let's take a look at how well the

padding is on this, obviously very well

padded. This is easy on your back, here is

your waist harness. Now, let me show you,

course it's connected here when we're

using it as a backpack but let me show

you how easily this is now to re set-up

as a sling.

Another thing is, they have really good

harness and strap management,

this allows you to put this to the

correct size so you don't have a bunch

of excess strap going around. So, now I'm

going to disconnect here, alright, and this

guy will now be placed into the storage

area so it's neat and out of the way.

Alright and now I'm going to use this

connection over here and there you have

it, now you have a sling design and you

can do it vice versa for the other side.

Weather you're left or right-handed

this allows you to convert the 3 in 1

into a sling bag, not just a regular backpack.

So, it gives you a lot of

different configuration options, you can

even crisscross the harness to wear

it in the front.

I mean they they gave you a lot of

options that makes this a very versatile

backpack design. So, if you are in the market

for a backpack that can fully maintain

all your gear, if you're going on a long

shoot, or even on vacation, or a long trip,

take a much closer look at the

Manfrotto Pro-Light 3 in 1 - 36 backpack.

Happy shooting!

Journaling | Tips to Be Creative in 2017 - Duration: 6:28.

Hello YouTube! Kaitlyn here! And do you want to be more creative in 2017?

Or any year! You can be creative any time! Or anywhere!

(INTRO MUSIC)

So when the new year starts, everyone's like, "I gotta set some New Year's Resolutions and some goals!"

And usually I'm out there making resolutions too, but this year I've been thinking about it a little differently.

As you'll see from last week's video.

I'm thinking more about things I can change that will foster an environment, a sort of mental state that I

can flourish in.

And for me that definitely means expanding my creativity. So if you're like me and you're looking for more

unique ways to be creative, to be inspired, then January is going to be a fun month for you.

This Thursday we're gonna be talking about Journaling!

Cuz journaling seems to boring, right?

Wrong-a-ding-dong! Journaling is actually quite cool and quite creative. It just depends on how you look at it.

So let's talk about how to have creative and inspired journaling.

Pick a notebook that speaks to you!

Dah dah! Isn't it beautiful? I'm actually quite a collector of journals.

It's about are there lines or no lines? Is it big or tiny? Is it something that you can decorate or do you want

it to live on its own?

This is a good place to point out that I really recommend handwriting a journal. And now I know that handwriting

is not really the "thing" now with all computers and technology and all that stuff, and I love typing on a

computer too, but for journaling there is something beautiful about writing it with your own hands, and it also gives you the ability to, you know, stick things in there

or draw on the page too. It's also a physical thing that you have to bring with you wherever you go so it's a

reminder to write versus an insubstantial document on a computer.

So once you've picked your notebook and you've decided that you're going to physically write in it, then you

have to decide, how are you going to structure the journal?

This is where you can get REALLY creative and you realize that there are no real rules to journaling.

So there's the stuff that you heard your grandparents talk about how they journaled which is, what they ate and

where they went and who they saw that day. Or maybe some quotes from people that they talked to.

That's a really interesting way to document your life, especially if you're a foodie or if you love visiting new places or talking to new people.

But of course, not everyone is going to that interesting which is why there are so many different ways to journal.

Maybe if you feel like you're move of an artist rather than a writer, then you could do a sketch a day and then write

a brief description about what that sketch is from or something else that happened in that day and how

that sketch connects with it.

Whether or not you have a very busy or active life, you could write down the events of the day and reflect on them.

You could write about the emotions that you're experiencing that day and this I highly recommend for

anyone who's struggling with mental illness.

I really like titling each entry and it may be a lyric from a song or a title of a movie or something that I

heard that day, some inspiring little phrase. Usually, it's somehow connected to how I'm feeling that day and

then I'll reflect on my emotions, sometimes I'll talk about events if more interesting things have been happening.

And sometimes I'll talk about dreams that I've had because I have very vivid dreams and this is a great

place to kind of hash them out and kind of interpret them.

For a while, instead of writing in prose I would actually write a poem a day and try to encapsulate my

emotions, and I think that's also a really cool thing to do.

Then your next step is, how will you make it unique?

You could put in quotes from people or books or songs.

If you're mostly doing writing, then throwing in a fun sketch or drawing or doodle is always a great addition.

What about journaling in 3rd person or writing it from the point-of-view of an imaginary observer of your life.

Or maybe, if you feel self-conscious or you don't really like writing about yourself, then you could write vingettes

about imagined situations for people or things that you've observed.

You're still documenting some part of life around you which is really great to have.

It also helps you process it!

Finally, because I am a big fan of mixed media and collage, think about what can you collect to include in your journal?

Are there movie tickets stubs or other events that you've gone to?

Cut outs from magazines of things that have inspired you or maybe things that made you a little a bit mad

and you wanna rant about it.

Photos from your daily life.

Whoa!

I'm really excited because I got a Fujifilm Instax camera for Christmas which means I'll be able to take pictures of

my daily life and print them out right there and so I can include them in my journal versus having them all on my

phone and having to think about, "Oh maybe I should print these out." *sigh* But now this gives me a place to put the photos that I'm using my camera for.

Simply use some pages to try to make a collage of interesting things in your life. It doesn't all have to be writing.

One final thought. If you are really feeling at a loss for what you could even like even start to put down on paper,

there are lots of journals out there that are guided journals and are very cool and helpful for you.

These are some of the ones that I have. I haven't actually used them which is sad but I told you, I'm a collector

of journals, but I plan to use them one day.

You've probably seen a "Wreck This Journal" before. And it's really just about, it gives you prompts of things to do to destroy the journal which is kind of interesting.

This one is "List Yourself" which is says "List making as a way to self-discovery." And as someone who LOVES

lists this is really exciting for me.

And then this one is "A Guided Journal for Introspection and Self-Discovery" so it uses like lists or you know,

interesting things. It wants you to remember things in your life.

So if getting a blank journal and starting writing is kind of scary for you, then I would really recommend starting

with something like that. And I think it will give you ideas for what you could then write in your own blank journal.

So if you haven't gathered it so far, journaling is NOT boring. You just have to make it your own!

So what do you guys think? Do you journal? Do you want to journal? If you have been journaling, what are your tips for people who want to start?

Also, all the Thursday videos in January are going to be "Tips to Be More Creative in 2017" and there are four

Thursdays and I have 3 ideas so I wanted the 4th Thursday to be something that you guys picked.

Put some ideas down in the comments and then I'll make a poll next week that you can vote on and

whatever kind of has the most interest will be what I cover!

So I hope you guys are having a wonderful start to 2017, and you remember to like, favorite, share, and subscribe

if this video made you smile!

See you guys on Tuesday!
