The combatant who was considered unfit during the army consolidation, ex-Maoist combatant, Mira Rai

becomes the Adventurer of the Year.

Well known ultra runner, Mira Rai, has become well known all over the world

after winning the Adventurer of the Year contest held by National Geographic Channel.

Earlier, Nepali runner Mira Rai was selected as one of the 10 prominent sports personalities

of adventurous sports from all over the world were nominated for the contest by National Geographic.

Rai had won after she got the most online votes.

Mira had won the 80-KM marathon held in France last after defeating the reigning champion.

She had also won the 50KM Asian Champion marathon, held in Hong Kong.

She had also won the 2014 57KM ultra marathon held in Italy and the 80 KM held in Norway.

Now, Who is Mira Rai?

25 years old Mira Rai was born in Sano Dumba of Bhojpur is an ex-combtant.

Mira was born in a poor family, facing difficulties even for day to day food.

She used to carry and transport loads twice her age.

Mira has completed her SLC (school leaving certificate) from Sindhuli

She is doing her ten plus two in arts.

Although she was an ex-combatant of Maoist, she was considered ineligible to join army.

She opted for sports when she could't join army.

She was affiliated to Maoist youth wing, PLL Sports Club.

She was training to become a karate player.

The chief of Balaju Karate Academy , Dhruba Bikram Malla suggested Mira to try running.

That was how she became a runner.
