Boney Reveals How He Fell For Sridevi In This Throwback Interview, Would've Built Taj Mahal For Her

Sridevi's demise has left everyone shocked and has veiled the entire nation in sadness and grief.

The eternal beauty, the power-packed and the legendary actress, passed away on February 24, 2018, in Dubai, UAE.

The death of her news was confirmed by her brother-in-law, Sanjay Kapoor.

Husband Boney Kapoor and their younger daughter, Khushi, were present in Dubai where the Kapoors were attending Mohit Marwahs wedding. .

Speaking of Sridevi and Boney Kapoor, they made a lovely couple whose love story has inspired millions of their fans.

The two got married in 1996 and have two daughters- Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor.

In an interview earlier that Boney gave to a leading news channel, his statements speak volumes of love and respect that he has for Sridevi.

He said, "If I was Shah Jahan I would have built her a Taj Mahal.

If I were a painter, I would have made her a beautiful painting.

But, I make movies.

Hence, I dont know a better way than the gift of films for her.".

He was referring to Sridevi's movie, Mom, her last movie before her death.

She will, however, be next seen in Shah Rukh Khan's film, Zero, which would make it her last movie appearance.

Sridevi's movies and Boney's intense desire to cast her into his films can sweetly be attributed as the reason that they fell in love.

Boney Kapoor, while planning a film, can be quoted as saying, "I thought before the hero can be confirmed, let me just check on the heroine.

I travelled all the way to Chennai, went to her house and got to know she was shooting in Singapore.".

The first chance that Boney Kapoor got to cast Sridevi was in the film, Mr India (directed by Shekhar Kapur).

Boney recounts, "The first opportunity I got all over again was to sign her for Mr India.

I went to her (film) sets met and it was like a dream come true.".

Recalling the seeds of his love for her, Boney once said, "Shes an introvert and doesnt communicate very easily with strangers and  I was one at that point of time.

But the few words she spoke, in broken Hindi and English, they touched me they moved me and I was curious to know her more.".

Boney, then, didn't want to leave any stone unturned and was bowled over by her charm and elegance.

In fact, he even followed her to Switzerland where Sridevi was shooting for Chandi.

Boney recalled, "Gradually, she saw the man is too persistent and perhaps realized I was sincere and not looking for, what do I say, a fling." He then added, "Little things made an impact on her and here I am as her husband today.".

This throwback interview and Boney Kapoor's words are too sweet and sure to inspire many lovebirds.

But, Sridevi's demise is equally painful.

RIP Sridevi!.
