With additive, it's really about expanding that design space.

It promises to change the traditional paradigms of how

we approach creating something.

Now, we've been using many of today's additive manufacturing

processes for over 20 years, mainly for advanced

prototyping, but only recently are we turning the corner

toward mass production.

This has implications for nearly every industry,

from lightweight strong metal parts, for aerospace

and automotive applications, to customized medical devices

and consumer goods.

If you look at orthopedic implants like this one,

they are relying on bone to actually grow

into the surface of the device.

And with additive manufacturing, you

can fine-tune the bladder structures

so that it's more conducive to bone ingrowth.

We can really customize stuff for end users,

which allows for a lot of freedom

when designing those objects.

If you can imagine it, you can print it.

It really opens up the door to new possibilities

that we haven't been able to leverage before.

In this course, we'll address the fundamentals, applications,

and implications of additive manufacturing.

You'll walk away with an in-depth understanding

of the technology and why, when, and how use it.

We dive deep into how to design for additive manufacturing,

including both engineering principles

and the digital workflow.

You then apply what you've learned to an in-depth case

study, where you can choose from a library,

either on design or strategy and operations.

And you'll have the opportunity to use cloud-based CAD

and computation tools that we've built into the course.

Additive it is going to change the way engineers think

about their jobs.

It's going to change the way we think about production systems

and engineering in general.

We cover a lot of ground in this course

and seek the balance breadth and depth.

Now the eventual implications of additive manufacturing

for design and production are far-reaching and probably

We are different because we make everything from sheep's wool,

the majority of which we buy from locals.

Production begins with combing and scotching the wool

on special machines - a trephine carding machine.

After this, fluffy fibers go to where the base of the Valenki boots are made.

After the base is made, it goes to be washed for shaping.

After that we put it onto the treads, dry them out, clean them off

and they are sent off to be put on sale for the masses.

For the last 60 years the technique and technology behind producing

this type of footwear has not changed at all.

All of our Valenki are made by hand.

So they have much better tried-and-true quality than factory made footwear.

They warm you up real nice and are good for your health.

We have 20 workers on our team.

The majority of the shoemakers are women.

Our people are friendly and get along well, and put a little bit

of their warm personalities into each boot.

There are a few families who have worked here for generations.

Right now one of our managers is the granddaughter of Vera Nikolayevna Bystrovaya,

who worked here for over 50 years.

Hello everybody, This is dr.Fox from the Fox's Power Basement.

Please, like and subscribe.

Broscience typically states that you should limit your carb intake in the hours before

going to bed.

This because those carbohydrates would have a greater chance at being stored as fat, because

of 2 reasons.

First, a slower metabolism during the night, and second, reduced insulin sensitivity.

Let's take a closer look at these 2 reasons.

Studies have shown that the average overall energy expenditure during sleep is no different

than resting metabolic rate during the day.

The idea that you should avoid carbs before bed because your metabolism slows down and

you won't "burn them off" definitely doesn't pass the test.

In research it appears that insulin sensitivity and glucose tolerance are not really impaired

at night, but rather are merely enhanced in the morning by an overnight fast.

In conclusion, consuming carbs in the evening, before going to bed will not lead to more

fat gain, or impair fat loss, compared to consuming the same quantities at other times

of the day.

If you're consuming less calories than you burn every day, you will lose fat, whether

you eat all your carbs at night, or divide them over 2 or 7 meals throughout the day.

What is the Right Age for a Cell Phone? - Duration: 4:58.

Do you ever wonder when is the right age to give your children a phone?

Many parents struggle with this decision. How do you decide?

It is actually better not to look at age, but to look at maturity level.

For example, a 14-year old might not be ready,

while a 10-year old might be.

Not all 14-year olds are the same, nor are all 10-year olds.

Sometimes a child might be very technologically savvy and know how to navigate the internet,

but lack the necessary maturity.

It is better to consider several factors instead of looking at age alone.

So, how do you decide?

Let's consider three important factors:

1. Does your child follow rules at home and school?

At home, for instance, does your child keep things clean?

If your child goes out, does the child come back home on time?

Is your child cooperative about bedtime or do you have to issue constant reminders?

Related to school, does your child finish all homework or put it off?

If given a phone, will your child put it away during class?

Or will your child be texting under the desk or bothering others?

If your child is prone to bullying others, will having a phone make that behavior worse?

If so, it may not be a good idea to give the child a phone.

2. The second factor is good responsibility and judgment.

Is your child responsible about taking care of things like backpack, clothing and homework?

Or does your child constantly lose things?

In that case, you might think twice about giving the child a phone, which is an expensive item.

Having a phone means having the ability to download apps.

Will your child understand this responsibility or run up a big bill, making you end up broke?

Some phone contracts have limited minutes.

Can your child adhere to the limits or will they be ignored and you will get a big bill?

3. The third factor is money.

Does your child understand the costs involved with having a phone

and what is involved with a two-year contract?

If your child has no concept of money, then more likely, the child is probably not ready for a phone.

Now that we have discussed what to consider about your children,

let's look at what parents should consider.

If you are barely getting by with money, making a loan or charging a credit card

in order to buy a phone for your child is probably not setting the best example.

If you can't afford a phone, you can discuss this with your child

and maybe make plans to save up for one.

This will teach your child the concept of delayed gratification,

which is an important lesson to teach.

Sometimes children feel like they are the only one of their group of friends who doesn't have a phone.

If you can't afford a phone, you can focus on teaching your child that it is okay to be different,

that every family has different needs, money, income, and values.

Not having a phone does not mean your child can't keep in touch with friends or use the internet.

There are other ways to do this.

Sometimes parents might have special reasons they want to give children a phone.

If the parents are divorced and the children go back and forth between two homes,

one parent may feel it is important to be able to communicate with the child when not with that parent.

Another instance is if the child stays after school for activities like plays or sports,

and the parent is not sure when it will be finished,

a phone allows communication with parents for when to pick up.

If you are going to give a child a phone for that main reason,

do so only if the child is mature enough and can handle it.

Another situation is when parents want children who are at home alone

to be able to reach them in case of problems or an emergency.

Suppose you consider all of the factors we have discussed, give them a lot of thought,

and decide that your child is not ready to be given a phone.

Then, upon telling your child this, if you are met with constant arguing, begging and pestering,

how do you deal with this?
