Everyone is anxiously awaiting to see
what ABC's new American Idol reboot is gonna look like.
I know I am, but apparently we're not the only ones kept waiting.
TMZ is reporting that singer and new judge Katy Perry
has been routinely showing up late to the audition round tapings.
Despite reportedly getting paid $25 million.
Now, while her other judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan don't seem to mind,
the producers are reportedly extremely frustrated with her.
Because the audition round tapings are so important.
They could end up making or breaking the show.
So ladies, do you think it's better to be late than never?
>> I just love this very beautiful,
well put together of women who's sitting in the audience like no, unacceptable.
I hear you. >> Let me tell you,
if I'm getting paid $25 million, I'm gonna be sleeping under the table.
>> [APPLAUSE] [CROSSTALK]
>> Ya'll need me.
>> This is real talk.
>> It could
be two o'clock in the morning you're like do you need me to
do something. >> Yes.
>> I'm showing up early,
I'm living on the set. >> We've experienced some artists
who have come on the show that kept us waiting for not just one hour, but
I think it was like three hours. >> This is damn Tam coming out right now
because that was a long wait. >> Yes it was and
my parents were in the army so you had to be punctual.
So my mom and dad passed that down to me.
I think it's disrespectful because you have to realize the workplace,
there are other people.
[APPLAUSE} >> Who have things to do, people to see,
kids to take care of.
So, it just pushes everything back, and I think it's rude,
it's inconsiderate, and it's selfish. >> What is she doing that
makes her late to her $25 million job?
That's what I'm trying to figure out. >> Okay, there is a reputation,
because I've been in the business for some time, there is a reputation with an aid.
And correct me if I'm wrong.
With musical artists that they tend to be, not a little late but
late a lot, and I don't know why. >> The music industry doesn't have like
a union the way that like television shows and TV and film has a union.
So, there really is no time for music.
In the music industry you could start a recording session
at 2 o'clock in the morning if you feel like it.
You can end it at 12 in the afternoon.
You can show up,
you can not show up, there's nobody there to actually keep you on schedule.
So it kind of is, you can do whatever you want.
>> [INAUDIBLE] Assistant or somebody,
go ahead- >> I was just gonna say in all fairness,
I believe she's been late 15 to 25 minutes, so it's not like hours, okay, so
I know it's still a job, I get it. >> I just want to clarify.
>> 25 million dollars, get a boot and
ejectable bed that's like boom, I'm tanked and ready to go, I get it.
But what I'm saying is I have, I'm gonna be real, a time management problem.
I don't know what it is but I always tend to run late and
I don't know how to leave on time and I'm working to get better.
And I'm setting like those phones can have like multiple alarms, if you're like get
out of the house, no bitch, leave now. >> [LAUGH]
>> I have those time of that way and
I'm working on it.
So, I'm trying but I just don't know.
I'm battling with this, cuz I can't sit up here and be like, you better not be late.
I'm that person. >> Just set your-
>> Here's my point, sorry.
My point is, I think if you do run late cuz you're not perfect,
there is a considerate way to go about it.
You need to call and give the heads up.
You do not lie, you do not come and just say, blame it on traffic.
You absolutely need to make the arrangement so that however you can make
it comfortable for the other person while you're still working on it.
To get them the information so they're not sitting there like what the heck.
>> I get that,
but I think it depends on how many times you're late.
>> Yes, of course.
>> So if you make being late a habit
that's still being rude to me. >> Yes.
>> So, this is what I would do,
just tell your manager or whoever to give you the call time,
maybe 30 or 45 minutes earlier.
That's what I do, you see what I am saying and then [CROSSTALK]
>> I am locking my phone now everything 30
minutes earlier.
But I think you and I are a lot alike in this sense.
We probably run late in our personal life, but
I don't play with my job. >> [LAUGH]
>> You can say whatever you want,
I'm late to everything else. >> But I'm never late to my job.
There's never somebody waiting here for me, like we're all
waiting cuz Adrian won't come down stairs. >> Time is money.
>> That's your job.
Guys, in one word, professionalism.
Just be professional. >> Yes.
>> That's in any job.
