Musically, I really am just always trying to carry a positive message and include all
kinds of people.
I think she encourages people to be whoever they want to be and to be proud of it.
LP.
I love you.
I think it's a big deal for someone to use their time to come see your show.
It's amazing.
It feels like a responsibility though.
We leave for tour on Thursday.
We start in Sacramento and then two shows in San Francisco.
Your very last chorus, maybe you just pedal, a little bit more energy.
I first started with LP in 2016 and then right at the tail end of that is when "Lost on You"
picked up in Greece and then spread to Italy and the rest of Europe.
This is the biggest tour she's had to date in the states, in terms of capacity.
Playing bigger and bigger places has been kind of an interesting adjustment.
I used to feel like very close in a room full of 500 people.
All of a sudden playing 40,000 person venues,
everybody's singing the words.
It changes your perspective on how to perform because the biggest thing that I'm trying
to achieve in a room is just like a communal feeling.
We have two new guys in the band, a whole new production.
There's entirely new lighting and there's so many moving parts leading up to this moment.
It's an anxious kind of time.
I really want to put on a great show.
The thing that's really building her fan base is her touring.
Once people see her and experience her live, she has that person for life.
Who are you here to see tonight?
LP!
We're LP super fans.
She's saying all the things we've never really had a chance to say with no shame or any of
those kinds of things that we kind of have gone through a lifetime of dealing with.
How are you?
Yeah, that jacket though.
What's up, what's up?
At one point in 2016, "Lost on You" was the second most Shazzammed
song in the entire world.
It was the song that I think set her off on her meteoric trajectory.
It was quite insane and I basically did not stop touring.
Probably in the last year and a half, I've spent like two months home, total.
No.
I mean, yes.
It gets unsettled.
You wish you just had all your friends there, you know what I mean?
It really takes the most toll on your relationships, your romantic relationship, obviously.
They seem so distant, you know?
What's up?
LP!
This is the bus, man.
The guy made me this out of his sweat yesterday.
It's sweat painting.
It's really nice to have an amazing show, meet a bunch of fans and then get in the bus
and go to sleep for eight hours and wake up in another city.
Getting to do that every night, it's a gift.
Second show of the tour.
I'm pretty present when I'm singing.
I'm trying to convey the proper emotion of what the song means to me and possibly to
somebody else.
Her voice sounds amazing when we record it.
When you hear her live, it's another experience.
When I saw her play "Strange" live, it totally changed me.
I cried and it was so emotional.
Seeing LP makes me feel like I can be totally comfortable exactly as I am.
She carries herself in such a dignified manner that I feel that she's a role model for all.
I'm really jazzed by the fans and it's really, like, a beautiful experience and that's all
I really care about, the fans that I have and the fans that I will have.
