Book Trailer for THIS IS HOW I SAVE MY LIFE (Gallery Books, April 2018) - Duration: 2:18.I grew up like any other kid
Two parents, a little brother, a big sister
Everything was pretty normal until I was bitten by a tick
It was so tiny I didn't even know it
But it changed everything
Fast forward through eight years of excruciating pain in every inch of my body
Brain lesions ... bone marrow biopsies ... blood transfusions.
Too many hospitals
Lost friends
Lost life
That tiny tick gave me Lyme disease
I tried everything: 60 doctors, 44 pills a day, hyperbaric oxygen, IV antibiotics ...
My body was failing and no one could help me
I found out about a treatment from India: human embryonic stem cell therapy
I went for it
Would this cure me or would this kill me?
There was no way to know
But there was one thing I did know for sure
I came for the stem cells
But I got so much more
Am I doing it? - Yes!

Audio Description is Coming to "Don't Shoot The Messenger" - Duration: 1:48.Hi, everyone. I'm Maleni Chaitoo and I'm an Executive Producer of the webseries "Don't Shoot The Messenger."
Those of you who've enjoyed our first seven episodes have probably appreciated the open captions
at one point or another, whether you're Deaf or hearing.
While we've made the show accessible by captioning, we realized we haven't made it fully accessible by adding audio description.
Audio Description is an auxiliary aid or service that makes visual video content accessible
for audience members who are blind or have low vision.
The action that takes place onscreen is described in a separate voiceover track.
In shows like ours where the dialogue is signed,
voiceover actors can also be employed to make the dialogue accessible.
This has been made possible for "Don't Shoot The Messenger" thanks to two generous grants I received
through an organization called New York Women in Film and Television (NYWIFT).
We're incredibly grateful to Michele Spitz of Woman Of Her Word for her grant
and for producing the Audio Description for "Don't Shoot The Messenger!"
We also owe thanks to Terry Lawler, Executive Director of NYWIFT,
for securing a grant from an anonymous donor to create the voiceover track for the scenes in American Sign Language.
Being Deaf, I haven't heard the final product...
but my co-Executive Producer, Craig has been involved every step of the way and says it sounds great!
Audio described versions of each episode will be up on YouTube soon
and I can't wait to hear what the blind and low vision community thinks of the show.
One last thing...
To all you content creators out there:
Please remember to make your material accessible
by adding captions and audio description so that everyone can enjoy your work!
Thank you!
