Wasn't it Ladies Day? A booze-fuelled day at Aintree takes its toll as worse for wear racegoers kick off their heels and spill out of dresses (and some of them even need a lie down!)
After weeks of preening and outfit preparation, racegoers were more than ready to let their hair down as soon as they hit Aintree today.
Champagne, wine and beer flowed from the early morning, with some swigging bubbles direct from the bottle, so it was no wonder that some people were feeling a little the worse for wear and in need of a siesta as Ladies Day wore on.
While revellers had turned out in their best outfits for Ladies Day, glamour was quickly forgotten about as many kicked off their shoes and sat on the ground as weariness got the better of them.
One woman lay flat on the ground with her eyes closed, looking as if she was taking 40 winks while the action swirled around her.
Others ended up exposing a little more than they bargained for as thigh-skimming dresses rode up to reveal their underwear as they flailed about, trying to put their shoes back on.
Thousands of glamorous revellers flocked to the Merseyside course, dressed to the nines, in the hope of winning the much-coveted style award on Ladies Day.
But it was 64-year-old Faith Amond, from County Carlow, Ireland, who beat off thousands of stylish hopefuls to claim the Style Award, winning prizes including a £35,000 Range Rover Evoque and £1,000 of shopping vouchers.
A team of judges, including hockey player Sam Quek, Liverpool fashion designers Philip and Tony Armstrong and soprano Laura Wright pored over thousands of entries to pick out the most stylishly clad lady of the day.
Hopefuls entered by posing for a photo at one of the style award frames and uploading their snap online and it was no doubt a tough decision.
But in the end they settled on the very chic Faith Almond, 64, who saw off competition from skimpily dressed 20-somethings.
Among the judges for the award was Olympic gold medallist Sam Quek, who was wearing a white dress with black panels by Liverpool designer Philip Armstrong.
TAKE NOTE LADIES! THE ONE WOMAN WHO COVERED UP IS NOW £35,000 RICHER! The Aintree Ladies Day style crown has been claimed by a 64-year-old racegoer.
Faith Amond, from County Carlow, Ireland, beat off thousands of stylish hopefuls to claim the Style Award, winning prizes including a £35,000 Range Rover Evoque and £1,000 of shopping vouchers.
The mother-of-three wore a red and pink outfit with a striking red hat and accessorised with Chanel pearls and a red handbag and gloves.
She said: I still cant believe Ive won.
Its such an honour. Mrs Amond said she had picked the outfit from clothes she already owned, but had bought flowers from the garden centre to add to her hat.
She said she had been coming to the race meeting for the past 15 years.
She said: Twelve years ago, I had breast cancer and I was on chemotherapy for a year and I came here, wig and all, that year.
Obviously, Id lost my hair so I managed to get the wig and get the hat and all the rest and managed to get here because at the time what I was going through, it wasnt easy, but I thought Im going to go to Aintree.
So I didnt even miss it that year. .
The Team GB hockey player and Im A Celebrity contestant said the standard of entries had been really, really fantastic.
She said: Credit to the ladies out there who really dressed to their personalities and as individual.
Its made it absolutely awesome and everyones looking fabulous as well.
Thousands turned out for the second day of the racing festival, which traditionally sees female racegoers compete in the glamour stakes.
Fashion designer Tony Armstrong, who helped to judge the style contest, said: Weve seen pink in every shade from blush pink to hot pink, high-low hemlines and lots of off the shoulder looks.
On the whole, amazing, amazing style today.
Really, really well-dressed ladies..
Coleen Rooney, who has previously been crowned the unofficial Queen of Aintree, was notable by her absence - but there was certainly no shortage of glamour without her on the day known as Fabulous Friday.
And early arrivals set the bar high, putting on a glamorous display in figure-hugging lace outfits and colourful cocktail hats.
According to research by St Johns Shopping Centre in Liverpool, an estimated 500 gallons of fake tan has been sold in the run up to the Grand National Festival.
Meanwhile, while the centres hair and nail salons have also seen a dramatic increase in footfall and one fashion store has completely sold out of bodycon dresses.
Naturally, nobody wanted to see that effort go to waste with many opting to show off their tanned limbs in off-the-shoulder dresses with daring hemlines.
Its the third year running that bosses have suggested a demure Chanel-inspired style guide, but yesterday it appeared that their tips had fallen on deaf ears.
A huge swathe of attendees rejected the conservative look and sported outfits more suited to the nightclub dancefloor than the racecourse.
Plunging jumpsuits, thigh skimming mini skirts and very daring necklines were the order of the day, as racegoers opted to flash as much flesh as possible.
Yesterday saw the champagne flow as soon as the gates opened, revellers were in high spirits and even turned the course into a makeshift dancefloor to show off their best moves - with some even continuing the celebrations in the local KFC.
Attendees also faced heightened security as armed police patrolled the grounds for the first time in its 170-year history yesterday as part of a massive anti-terror operation ahead of the Grand National.
Sniffer dogs and bomb detector teams were also deployed to protect racegoers in the wake of last months Westminster terror attack.
Armed officers were also on patrol today, but Merseyside Police have issued a statement confirming that the heavy police presence is there to reassure those in attendance, and is not connected to any specific threat.
And bosses were keen to focus on the positives, with managing director John Baker describing Fabulous Friday as a much-loved day.
The people of Liverpool and the north absolutely love it and love to express their personalities, he said. The styles on show can be tremendous.
Its a fabulous occasion..
Bookies having been taking bets on what colour celebrity attendees will sport at todays meeting.
Danielle Lloyd was expected to attend and had been hotly tipped to wear a pink number at odds of 3/1.
But anyone betting on her attendance was left disappointed when she turned up on Loose Women instead to have a baby scan live on air.
Meanwhile, Jennifer Ellison has been chalked up at 4/1 to wear a vibrant yellow dress.
Meanwhile, former Miss Liverpool Christine McGuinness is priced at 5/1 to wear a daring red outfit for Ladies Day.
GMB presenter Charlotte Hawkins was among the famous faces to join the revellers, looking chic in a grey coat with an elaborate floral pattern, which she teamed with a burgundy fascinator.
