wasn't so long ago that you know I was a student and you know sitting in in a
seat in auditorium like you guys are here today listening to I remember very
specifically this time when Bill Gates came to talk it at Harvard and I'm like
wow how do you how do you do that and
but you know the trick is is that the media likes to sensationalize this as if
you have some Eureka moment or you are some singular person who can't build
something on your own and that's just not how the world works you know when I
was in school I built a lot of stuff that I just liked building there was not
a single moment when I when I had some revelation that Facebook was going to be
awesome that's not maybe how the media or movies or whatever would like to
portray things it's not it's much less exciting but the reality is I think most
I services in the world that reach the scale that Facebook has you start off
building something that you care about and you know you don't necessarily think
it's gonna be that big I didn't you know I built Facebook the
first version of Facebook for my college community because I wanted to be able to
connect to the people in my school and I remember very clearly talking to my
friends at the time and saying you know it's how cool is it that we
have built this community for our school you know one day it's gonna be awesome
when somebody else builds this for the world because something like this needs
to exist for the world but it didn't even occur to me that you know my
friends and I might be able to play a role in doing that right just we were
college students right I mean we'd have any engineers to work with or servers or
resources or anything like that and you know there are these huge companies that
deliver products for hundreds of millions of people right there's new
hires assumed that it was gonna be like Microsoft or Google or someone would
build this for the world and what basically just happened is that each
step along the way we just kind of kept doing the next thing and growing from
there and you know there were teams inside these other companies that that
thought social media was important and we're working on it but there were all
these different memes and narratives in the world you know people would say oh
well you know this is just a fad people are gonna use it but then they're gonna
stop so you know so a lot of the teams who were working on didn't take it that
seriously or you know the higher-ups and those companies didn't care so then get
resources and we just kept going and going and then people would say alright
well alright fine so maybe people are using it but it's never gonna make any
money all right I mean social media doesn't make any money then we just kind
of kept going and going and then pretty soon we had a service that was bigger
than any of these other ones and that kind of is how we are here where we are
there's no magic a lot of times I think people just get afraid because you know
often your dream is it's it seems like it's so so far off but what if you just
kind of focus on building stuff that you think is good and and you keep on going
at each step along the way and don't let people deter you from that and just
really care about what you're doing and kind of don't give up but each step
along the way then you know I think that's how you that's how you build
something good eat write read read if the president were here one
of his greatest strengths is reading that's one of the reasons why he's a
good communicator why he's such a good writer he's a voracious reader so we're
trying to get our girls no matter what to just be to love reading and to
challenge themselves with what they read and not just read the gossip books but
to push themselves beyond and do things that maybe they wouldn't do so I would
encourage you all to to read read read just keep reading and writing is another
skill it's practice it's practice the more you write the better you get
drafts our kids are learning the first draft means nothing you're going to do
7/10 drafts that's writing it's not failure it's not not the teacher not
liking you because it's all marked up and read and when you get to be a good
writer you mark your own stuff and read and you rewrite and you rewrite and you
rewrite that's what writing is and if you come out with those skills and then
you're confident and you can articulate and you can stand up straight and look
anybody in the eye and say this is who I am it's a pleasure to meet you that's
one of the things we try to do with our mentoring program with young girls my
message to them is if you can walk into the White House and meet the first lady
and say my name is how are you and look me in the eye then there's nothing you
can't do that's why it's important if you guys walked here our sitting here in
front of all these people standing tall asking questions using your voice you
have to practice that these arenas just show up again and again and then you
just get used to it the nerves go away and you start
relaxing into your own abilities but it's practice I'm saying this is the
time more than ever that you want to begin to inoculate yourself with
positive words coming to conventions showing up on meetings being on the
calls to make yourself unstoppable to get out of your mind the polluting
negative thoughts that's causing most people to go through life being stuck
because their volunteer victims somebody said that many people died aged 25 and
don't get buried until they're 65 because they got so much garbage and
their minds here because you've got a clear vision
of what you want and where you're going give yourselves a round of applause come
on bring energy level up yes yes you want more you want more you're different
you're different than everybody else don't worry if they don't get it don't
try and convince people to do this business a person convinced against
their will is of the same opinion still you are not like everybody else you can
walk outside and find pigeons but if you're looking for Eagles it's going to
take you a minute you are different it's lonely at the top how many of you know
as lonely at the top raise your hands it's lonely at the top but you eat better
that's what I'm talking about you're different
one great entrepreneur said I choose not to be a common man it's my right to be
uncommon if I can I'll seek opportunity not security I do not wish to be a kept
citizen humbled and dull by having the state look after me I want to take the
calculated risk to dream and to build to fail and to succeed
I refuse them there from hand to mouth I prefer the challenges of life to the
guaranteed existence the thrill of fulfillment to the still
calm of utopia I will never call before name master nor bin to any threat it's
my heritage to stand erect proud and unafraid the face to whirl bolian say
this I have done you showed up because you're building a business that you can
stand and say I did this I did this this is my dream give yourselves a round of
applause yeah yes yes you once said that if you were
growing up in this generation that you would have a field day because you would
take their souls what did you mean by that the younger generation quits not
everybody so I got it I got put that people get their butt hurt so not
everybody most of this generation quits the second they get talked to you did
this wrong you did this wrong or they get yelled at it's so easy to be great
nowadays because everybody else is most people are weak this this is a softened
generation so if you have any mental toughness any of any ability be of any
fraction of self-discipline the ability to not want to do it but still do it
people have a hard thing understand I hate to run and what makes me so crazy
it doesn't need more people why did you run if you hate it
what are you talking about I don't want to take showers and eat either I hate
that too then the whole that's a life man that innit
it wasn't until I changed that mentality that I became somebody I hate it going
to school so I guess what I was dumbest that's what will one plus one is two but
if you can get through to doing things that you hate to do on the other side is
greatness that's what people are thinking by me running I am callus in my
mind I'm not training for a race I'm training for life I'm training for the
time when I get that two o'clock in the morning call that my mom is dead or
something happens tragic in life I don't fall apart I'm training my mind and my
body my spirit so it's all one so I can handle what life is going to throw at me
because the life I've lived it throws a whole bunch at you and if you're not
physically immensely prepared for that you're just gonna crumble and you're
good for nobody if you ever felt like there were times where you wanted to
quit all that music wasn't that necessarily for you like you didn't have
faith in what you were doing yeah no that's good I don't know cuz
uh quitting is never an option but have there been times where you've
maybe felt like you talked about being misunderstood before has there been
times where you've maybe felt like people weren't understanding it and then
that frustration leads you to maybe not want to continue on that path that's the s*** they give me as
that keeps me going mm-hmm that type of show right there I'm not being accepted
it's like my whole driver like people enough glue me and I just want to prove
a point I'm not as bad as I just want to know what you go with you know and
that's always helpful information um then I get out advice to everybody like
if you feel like quitting is the thing just trying to quit into
like that extra pump second win

Why a Makeup Professional for Your Headshots is Important - Duration: 5:29.
Hi everyone, Susan Friesen here with eVision Media bringing you today's video eTip
and as you can see I'm not sitting in front of my computer like a normally am
I'm here with the wonderful amazing Judy from Judy D Beauty and she just
finished making me look like this with with this fabulous makeup that she just
put on and the reason for this is that I am getting my new headshots done today at
the studio of Taneane Twele Photography and so I've got my hair done, I've got my
makeup done from Judy and our next step is to get me in front of the camera to get
some professional headshots and it's been close to three years since the last time
I had headshots done and it was time to get this done again and it was a no
brainer for me to invite Judy and Taneane again to do
my makeup and the photography. The point of today's video with Judy is that
I wanted to tap into your expertise and explain to our audience
why is it so important to have a professional makeup artist do my makeup
for these photo sessions as opposed to me just doing my makeup before coming
over to the studio. What's the difference there? Why why would I want to
hire you to do my makeup. Well there are reasons. There's the makup you
use every day is definitely different than the makeup that I used here on you
The lights for one thing are really bright and tend to wash people out
and the way your makeup looks here will look different when the pictures are
developed and so you have to take that into account where I've done it for enough years now I
know what will look good here and what we'll look at when the pictures are
ready. The other thing is there's the makeup that I use. Makeup is made for
HD photography so it will definitely make you look great and dewey and
flawless and regular makeup just can't do that. This is made specifically for
that and we were laughing a while ago about your ears, yes she's obsessed by my
ears by the way, ya, you have to take into account things like that
so you can't just stop here.We have to go into the hairline, yes
but you have to do your ears - you have to go down your neck and depending on what
you're wearing you want to go down to your chest as well. Those are certain
things that you have to take into account that normally you don't
think about to every day. Right and yeah absolutely and when I look
at myself in the mirror like to me, oh my gosh, there's a lot of makeup on but
you're right when I look at the final photos that Taneane will do for me it'll
look normal but natural and so I remember back when I worked in TV
with the same thing you have to put on a lot of makeup in order to look normal
in front of the camera and most people don't have that knowledge and expertise plus the
products that you're using is definitely different from what we use at
home so I highly recommend not only should you always get professional photos done
in order to present yourself in a professional manner in front of your
business peers and your target market and all that
stuff you want to protect yourself in a way that is does professionally. Get
professional photos done first of all don't just stand in front of a lake
and have you on summer vacation, those kinds of photos don't
work and I'm talking about your social media profile photos and anything that you
do from a professional perspective when you're
representing your business, get the photos done but make sure you get a
professional makeup artist to do the photo shoot with you. I'm
so blessed that where I live I have Taneane and Judy who have paired up and
we're physically in Mission BC but Judy and I
are from Abbotsford but if you are from the Lower Mainland, give me a
call or give Judy from Judy D Beauty a call or Taneane from Taneane Twele Photography
and then it will set you up, make you feel like a Goddess by the way
or a God, you do men too and do yourself a favour and
this for yourself so Judy tell everybody how they can get a hold of you?
I guess the best way would be through my website is www.JudyDBeauty.com
And I am available for questions if you're wondering about something if you
want to photo shoot I'd love to answer any questions for you. And by
the way during today's photoshoot but
while you were doing your makeup with me, we had a videographer here, Keith Dobie
and he was taping the whole session and so if you go to Judy's website and you
sign up for the newsletter you'll get to see all of the cool tricks and tips that
she did while putting this on so sign up for her newsletter and you will get video
access, access to the videos that we did
today so that is really very cool to watch too, so thanks so much Judy, I really
appreciate you and what you did to this. So that's it for today's video eTip
until next time I'll talk you later

Traditional White House Christmas Is Back: Trump Style! - Duration: 1:29.
The days of dissing Christ and Christmas are gone.
The Trumps bring style and Christ back into the White House.
And Melania debuts the fresh, shiny new decor.
Vogue did a nice spread on the First Lady's Christmas debut:
Melania Trump has just returned to Washington, D.C. after spending Thanksgiving at Mar-a-Lago
in Palm Beach, Florida.
Today, the First Lady made an appearance to present the White House's annual holiday
decorations.
This year's decor theme, Time-Honored Traditions, takes cues from the past, which Trump's
ensemble also did.
The bell-sleeve white Dior dress was a more streamlined version of the Roksanda dress
Trump wore at the RNC in July 2016 with a nod to the holiday season.
Let's first start off with this beautiful video of Melania introducing the new Christmas
decor to the world:
Isn't it beautiful?
Melania Trump obviously has great taste!.
From TODAY:
"The President, Barron, and I are very excited for our first Christmas in the White House,"
Melania Trump said in a statement.
"As with many families across the country, holiday traditions are very important to us.
I hope when visiting the People's House this year, visitors will get a sense of being
home for the holidays."
Trumps in the White House is a great Christmas present.

Eli Manning fiasco: Giants' shift from classy to clueless is complete - Duration: 5:28.
Eli Manning fiasco: Giants' shift from classy to clueless is complete
Eli Manning deserved a much better Giants ending. You give your heart and soul to your franchise, and bring home two Super Bowl titles, that's the least you deserve.
In a 2-9 season of one disaster after another, the Giants allowed a little bit more of their dignity to be stripped away with their terrible Tuesday decision to end the Eli Era.
Instead of riding this season out with Manning and then planning a new future, the rug was pulled out from Manning after 210 consecutive starts, the second-longest QB streak in NFL history.
And it is Geno Smith who will be the starting quarterback in Oakland come Sunday. Not exactly Lou Gehrig replacing Wally Pipp. The NFL was aghast over this move and rightfully so.
Once the classiest of franchises, the Giants have become the most clueless of franchises. Loyalty used to be their calling card.
"It's hard,'' an emotional Manning said. "It's been a hard day to handle this, but hang in there and figure it out..
At least Manning had the good sense to tell Ben McAdoo to stuff the plan of playing him the first half and then going to Smith in the second half, all the time setting this up as a showcase for young Davis Webb in the near future, because that's what this is all about, you can be sure of that.
"I thought it was best to give Geno the start, I'll back him up, I'm a good teammate. I don't like it but I can handle it,'' Manning said.
"You start a game to keep a streak alive, that's not what it's about, it's not a preseason game.''.
What's the rush to get Smith a start? He's been around here long enough to have a read on his limited QB skills. Smith is not the Giants' future.
The Giants want to look at Webb and there would have been ways to do that without cutting the Eli cord now.
You win two Super Bowls you are the face of the franchise, you deserve to continue to start and go out on your own terms this season and then develop a plan for the future.
But like every other big decision the Giants have made this pitiful season, this was the wrong decision.
McAdoo can't help himself, his social skills are not what you desire in coaching in the NFL in 2017. He's more of an offensive-minded robot than a head coach.
Of the decision made along with GM Jerry Reese and ownership, McAdoo said, "We're on the same page.''. Asked if he saw this coming, Manning answered, "No. That one word speaks volumes.
"If you go out there knowing you're coming out, how do you prepare?" Manning said of the start-and-come-out plan. "If you're a starting quarterback your job is to go out there and win the football game.''.
Does he feel he has started his last game for the Giants? "I don't know,'' Manning said. "I'll take it one week at a time.''.
Said Webb of Manning: "If you had a Mount Rushmore of not only New York Giants, but New York athletes, he'd be on it.
McAdoo said, "We're confident that we can put a plan together to put Geno in a position to be successful and go win the game. In McAdoo's world, Smith gives the Giants a better chance to win than Manning.
McAdoo was asked if this the end of Eli in New York?.
"No, I have a lot of confidence in Eli as a player, as a quarterback, but at this point it's my responsibility for the organization to make sure we take a look at Geno and at some point take a look at Davis, and give them the opportunity to show what they can do, heading into next year,'' he said.
The real responsibility was to improve the offensive line, come up with winning game plans and not let egos run amok, but Ben and Jerry missed out on all that. And Eli pays the price. It's just not right.
Like most things Giants these dreadful days.

Is Khloe Kardashian Covering Her Baby Bump? - Duration: 3:35.
Is Khloe Kardashian Covering Her Baby Bump?
It's hard to believe that rumors have circulated for more than a month that Khloe Kardashian is pregnant, and she's yet to confirm or deny them.
Fans; however, are thoroughly convinced she is pregnant with boyfriend Tristan Thompson's baby, and believe it's only a matter of time before her baby will be born.
Recent photos of Khloe have only fueled the rumors.
On November 28, 2017, Khloe was spotted at LAX but had covered her belly the entire time.
This act sent fans into a frenzy with many believing she is definitely pregnant.
Khloe has also stopped showing her stomach in photos leading more people to suspect she is pregnant.
Kris Jenner is also making references to her grandkids that indicate she has more on the way.
If Khloe and Kylie Jenner are pregnant, Kris Jenner will soon add three more grandchildren to the Kardashian/Jenner clan.
Khloe and Tristan live in separate states as she is in California and he is based in Ohio.
There are rumors that he is house hunting in California.
The public belief is that he wants to move to be closer to Khloe and the baby.
Khloe was at LAX because she had just visited Tristan and was returning home from Ohio.
Recent photos of Khloe show her wearing oversized sweatshirts and the photos of her from LAX were no different.
Khloe could be seen wearing a dark sweatshirt with hood while carrying a large Hermes Birkin bag over her stomach.
You may see the photos below.
Khloe Kardashian is 33-years-old and if she is pregnant, this would be her first child.
Though fans are anxious to find out if Kylie Jenner and Khloe Kardashian are really pregnant, others think there is a practical reason why they haven't confirmed or denied the reports.
Many people suspect that Kylie and Khloe are pregnant, but that the announcements will come in a major way.
Most agree that it would be in line with the Kardashians to save a pregnancy announcement for a big moment on the show Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
What do you think? Do you believe Khloe is pregnant and just waiting for the right moment for her big reveal?.
