Waching daily Aug 1 2018

Ace wanted to meet and thank the man who did save Luffy's life and in chapter 552 we

saw that he met Shanks on a certain island.

This meeting was only a couple of panels long, but it would have been great if Oda would

have shown us more of this meeting.

It is always interesting to see two or more important characters interacting with each

other.

I do think that Manga is the superior medium of storytelling, but that does not mean that

it is perfect.

One of the problems that this type of storytelling has, is that it is limited when it comes to

certain things.

And that's why Oda did not show us more about this meeting.

But recently was published a novel about Ace based on what did happen in the One Piece

Story before he died.

When I heard about this it did not interest me at all because I am not interested in fan-fiction.

But a summary of the novel was posted on Twitter by the username Sandman.

And I did notice that the writer has expanded the meeting between Ace and Shanks, but without

changing the basic stuff.

So, it was very interesting to read more about this meeting.

Here is a summary of this meeting between Ace and Shanks.

Ace finds the island that Shanks is staying and he met Shanks in a cave.

"Shanks asks Ace, you wanted to see me?

The fire starts to waver.

This was caused by Shanks's King's Haki but Ace is strong enough to withstand it."

We have not seen something like this in the manga but we know that Shanks's King's Haki

does affect other things as well.

For example, when Shanks was onboard Whitebeard's ship his King's Haki did cause physical

damage to the ship.

And also when Shanks and Whitebeard did clash the clouds were divided because they were

being affected by Shanks and Whitebeard's King's Haki.

"Ace starts a pretty polite and old-fashioned greeting…"

We saw this in the manga where Makino was teaching Ace how to greet someone and thank

in a proper way.

And he says that Makino taught him about this way of greeting".

"Red Hair Pirates are interested to hear the name of Makino and decide to receive a big

bottle of sake from Ace".

This could be due to her relation with Shanks.

In chapter 614 Makino was holding a baby and when Oda was asked in SBS whose the mother

of the child that Makino is holding?

Oda said it seems that Makino became a mother and about who is the father, he only said

the father is that man.

So, it is very likely that the father is Shanks, Oda is being vague on purpose.

When Ace left, Shanks says that:" I had noticed Ace's Haki ever since he was off the

coast of this island...".

This is very interesting that the writer has highlighted Ace's King's Haki.

We saw Ace using King's Haki for the first time when he was a kid so it would make sense

that Ace has such a powerful King's Haki.

Ace is the only character that we have seen in the story to use King's Haki at such

a young age.

And then Shanks says: "He was like a fire itself, wasn't he"?

Beckman says: "Yeah, that's why the snow melted away.

Now that he left the snowstorm is coming again".

When Ace went to the Drum Kingdom to look for Blackbeard, on that day it did stop snowing

there.

And this was due to Ace.

So, Ace has awakened his devil fruit pretty quickly.

The logia devil fruits that are awakened can affect the soundings including the weather.

Shanks continues to talk with Beckman about Ace and Beckman finds it weird that the World

Government did offer Ace the position of the Shichibukai.

Because he does not think that Ace is that type of a pirate who would become a Shichibukai.

He is wondering if there is another reason why the World Government did that.

Shanks says: "Ace said he was born in Baterilla, South Blue.

He smiles and recalls that Ace had known Roger's true name, including the D."

This meeting was written really well, it was fun to read.

And now let's get back to the manga.

Did Shanks know that Ace was Roger's son?

Yes, I think he knew and that's why he went to talk to Whitebeard about Ace.

Otherwise, what reason does Shanks have to go and talk to Whitebeard about one of his

commanders?

About Ace being Luffy's brother, I don't think this could be the case because Shanks

did not come to Luffy's aid when he was in trouble.

So, why would he do it for Luffy's brother?

In that meeting with Whitebeard, Shanks said: "Despite his youth, he is trusted to captain

the second division of your crew.

Ace is strong I know that very well.

But that fame and trust complicate things.

It's not yet time for them to face each other."

I think when Shanks said fame he is talking about Ace being Roger's son.

Ace made a name for himself pretty quickly when he did enter the new world, but not among

the most powerful Pirates in the new world.

So, Shanks is saying to Whitebeard don't judge Ace based on what his father was capable

of because he is still young.

At that time Ace was 21 years old.

Shanks knew that Ace was the son of his former captain and knew the true power of Blackbeard.

And that's why he was worried about Ace, and since Blackbeard did hide his true power

when he was part of Whitebeard Pirates.

He thought it would be right to warn Whitebeard about Blackbeard, that Ace could be in danger.

That's why Shanks spoke to Whitebeard about the scar that was inflicted by Blackbeard.

He said specifically that I was not being careless, so Blackbeard is strong and he has

hidden his true power.

And Shanks was not wrong, Ace did lose to Blackbeard.

Anyway, what do you guys think, did Shanks knew that Ace was Roger's son or not?

Let me know in the comments Thanks for watching

Destiny 2: What Is Solstice of Heroes - 400 Power Armor - Duration: 8:27.

Solstice of Heroes, the what I imagine to be final update to Destiny 2 before Forsaken

is here.

So... what is it and what do I do?

Solstice of Heroes is akin to Moments of Triumph from Destiny 1.

Triumph Score has made a return and is actually in game now, hooray, and is a way for you

as a player to say that you "completed" year 1 of Destiny 2, with a variety of challenges

to go complete.

You can find them all in game or on your profile on bungie.net.

Things like do adventures, do the raid, play PvP, it's all there and you can get rewards

that you can ONLY get during this time to show off how great you did in year 1.

Then, you wear all of the gear in the future and you go "look at all the stuff that I got

back in year 1 because I was amazing," to other people in the tower and they'll get

super jealous.

The biggest thing is probably the armor sets.

You start with a green set of broken armor, like what you started the campaign with after

the Red Legion attacks, you upgrade it into blue armor, which is the set before it got

busted, and then into the purple set, which is more or less the Ikora Meditation set I

believe, and then into Masterworked armor.

Those previous armor models become ornaments as you upgrade the gear, in case you want

use those previous sets instead.

So, you get the green gear by completing Homecoming, the first story mission, it'll be the first

thing you do when you want to start doing that stuff.

Then, you get all of this green gear with different objectives on it.

Collect this, do these missions, do PvP.

A lot of it is completely self-explanatory, right?

Collect 100 orbs.

Alright.

Do 10 heroic public events, got it.

You only need to wear the piece of armor if you are completing an objective for it.

Example: Titan green armor, the chest says I need to do 10 heroic public events.

So, I can equip other stuff in the other slots and JUST have the chest armor on, and I'll

get credit.

The same goes for any other, non-orb objectives.

PvP?

Just put on the pieces that have PvP objectives, works the same way.

For PvP, I know a lot of people are griping about the 30 some odd super kills they need

to get for completion, Mayhem will be back during the second week of Solstice, so if

you REALLY hate PvP, just wait until then for the super kills, it'll be much easier.

The redux story missions are definitely way harder than they were in the campaign.

While it is VERY possible to do all of them by yourself, those with... less dexterous

hand skills may want to bring a friend along, which makes things a lot easier.

Patience is the name of the game for all of the missions, take things slow.

For example, in Payback, your tank won't respawn until you get all the way outside, so you

need to go slow and NOT like how you did the missions during the campaign where you could

just not care.

There are way more adds, way more majors, some bosses are very different and overall,

it's just a more difficult experience than the campaign, so play cautiously.

Now, the only thing you NEED to wear the entire armor set for is collecting elemental orbs

because that is the only way to spawn them, is by wearing the whole set.

Elemental orbs will occasionally spawn when killing stuff, majors tend to drop them a

bit more reliably, and the majority of the time, the orb that spawns will be the subclass

that you are, so if you're a Sentinel, you're getting void orbs.

On rarer occasion, much rarer, you'll get orbs of the element of the weapon you're using.

I saw way too many people say they were stuck at 0% for orb collecting because they were

either using the wrong subclass OR because they just weren't in the right spot.

For example: Titan helm for the green armor is collect void orbs on earth.

Just read what the thing says, it's pretty simple.

The best way to go about doing these objectives is to combine as many as possible whenever

you can.

Gotta do void orbs on earth and do a mission?

Do the mission on Earth and pop on Voidwalker, not that complicated.

Orbs are a bit more plentiful in the Redux missions, simply because there are a LOT more

majors in those missions, so you SHOULD be able to get those done in the missions, assuming

everything lines up properly.

Note that if you need to collect orbs in Strikes, if you're wearing the green set, you're gonna

want to go into the Vanguard Strikes playlist at 140 power and not the heroic, at 350.

Again, the objectives aren't very hard to start, but they'll get a little more specific

the higher the gear.

Some of the masterwork objectives include completing the prestige nightfall above the

score threshold, doing Leviathan on Prestige mode, killing bosses, doing heroic strikes

and getting legend rank in valor Crucible.

Note that the legend in valor rank IS retroactive according to a Bungie twitter post, "If you've

already reached Valor legend, wear your armor into the crucible to complete the masterwork.

It needs to be worn to check the box."

I'm not sure anything else is retroactive though.

When you get the blue gear, it'll be 340, the purple gear is 400 and then you can masterwork

it with those upper echelon achievements I mentioned earlier.

This is the only way to get 400 armor before Forsaken, but don't panic because I'm sure

2-3 hours into Forsaken, you will be past 400 anyway, don't worry about the power portion

of it.

It would make things like EP and prestige Spire easier, sure, but they're not impossible

right now anyway.

This is the main grind of the Solstice event, but we also have the Triumphs, but, again,

these are self-explanatory.

You simply "buy" the objectives from the statue, do them and then when it's done, REDEEM IT

from your inventory, you need to click on it to get the points.

All of the triumphs are right there in game, there IS a second page by the way, don't miss

that.

But they're all there, do the campaign, do the expansion campaigns, do public events,

adventures, collect region chests, data fragments, etc.

I don't think there's much of a guide to be made for this.

I don't have a region chest guide, they're all on your map, they are per character though,

along with adventures, there's a checklist on bungie.net for adventures, it's just "do

the thing, you did the thing."

I feel dumb making this video.

150 points gets you the ghost shell, 250 unlocks the ability to buy the Triumphs t-shirt from

the Bungie store, 300 gets you the Sparrow, and 400, which is the max, gets you the other

emblem.

THEN, for you hardcore, you get the ship from getting the legendary armor sets on all 3

classes.

My estimate for 1 set of armor is probably about 10-15 hours depending on skill.\par

Other than that, it is pretty simple, just go in, do the objectives, enjoy the armor

sets and enjoy the last hoorah of year 1 before we push into Forsaken.

Cool?

Alright, thanks for watching.

The Guided Missile is Coming Back in Fortnite | Heavy.com - Duration: 3:50.

The Guided Missile is Coming Back in Fortnite | Heavy.com

Fortnite is bringing the controversial Guided Missile back into the game.

The Guided Missile was too powerful for players who were good at the game and those who had the ability to rocket ride themselves.

If you couple that with the fact it was a difficult weapon to defend against and you have a foundation for an arguably broken weapon.

Since the weapon has been vaulted the Fortnite meta has shifted more heavily to build battles and the ability to build things in a short amount of time.

Maybe this is why Epic decided now is the time to reintroduce the weapon.

The weapon was at its most powerful in squad matches as three of your teammates could burst down a structure while the guided rocket would find its target while the enemy is undefended.

In the solo state of the game it was actually pretty easy to defend against but newer players would still struggled.

These problems coupled with complaints from the community resulted in the Guided Missile being vaulted.

Epic Games has rebalanced the Guided Missile to be more of scouting tool rather than being a high-damage weapon.

This means it has reduced movement speed, turning speed, damage and damage radius.

The clip is also capped at 12 rockets so you won't have to defend against it forever.

The exact stats of the rocket hasn't been revealed yet so we can probably expect to see that in future patch notes.

This news was revealed in a Fortnite developer update that can be watched in its entirety above.

No timetable has been given for the return of the Guided Missile but we can likely expect to see it soon.

Another Solo Showdown competition kicks off today too.

It runs until the morning of July 30 which you can read more about here.

What is conversion optimization? | FREE Conversion Optimization Course - Duration: 6:00.

Conversion rate optimization is a way to make more money.

But how do you do it?

(uplifting instrumental music)

What is conversion optimization,

or as it's usually referred to,

conversion rate optimization, CRO?

Conversion rate is a mathematical formula.

So if you have 50 people buy your stuff

or sign up to your email, but 1,000 people

came to your website or a landing page, whatever it is,

you just divide it to two and you get oh,

I have a 5% conversion rate.

And then of course, in order for us to make more money,

we need a higher conversion rate.

They say that conversion rate optimization

is all about increasing the conversion rate

so it will be 6% or 7%, but I kind of disagree

or rather I don't like that terminology.

Actually, I don't like the R in conversion rate optimization

because it's not about the conversion rate.

Let's say you build a brand new website,

you just tell your mom about it

and she goes to your website, one person,

and she buys something.

So one visit, one purchase, 100% conversion rate.

Amazing, right?

Yet you just sold something to your mom and that's it,

that's not a business.

So conversion rate optimization is not about

the conversion rate.

Another way you can increase conversion rate if you want

is like make every product you sell free or one cent.

So let's say you build a new Amazon,

sell everything that Amazon sells but everything is free.

Your conversion rate will be insane.

Everybody will purchase something for free,

but you'll go out of business.

So optimizing just for conversion rate is silly.

Don't do that.

So conversion optimization really is about growth.

It's about growth.

And what is it that we need to do to our website

so we could grow our business sustainably and profitably?

Now there are multiple ways to do this,

and traditional way is we all have opinions.

Hmmm, I think we should do this,

we should make this button bigger,

we should add more image sliders or (mumbles).

Everybody has an opinion what should be done,

and opinions are like assholes, everybody's got one

and they all stink.

So opinions is not a way to optimize anything.

I've been doing this conversion rate optimization for years.

10 years.

Now if I have to predict which change

will result in more money, I get it right

maybe around 60, 65%.

That's just slightly better than flipping a coin!

Basically random.

You can't have an opinion about these things.

Well, you can have an opinion but the odds that

you're gonna actually get something right,

oh, the odds are very low,

it's like playing the lottery.

So that's not how conversion optimization works.

So the main question is what should we change?

You know, because in optimization,

we wanna change something about a website,

add something, remove something, modify something

so we would make more money,

so more people would buy your stuff or you know,

become a lead or whatever,

it is that we're trying to accomplish.

So what do we do?

Now if we agree that opinions are the wrong way

to go about it, the right way is conducting research,

We need to figure out what are the current problems

with our website, where are the problems

and why these problems are problems to begin with?

Only if we understand where, what and why

these problems exist, we can come up with a better idea,

an idea how to fix them.

We call this treatment.

We apply a treatment, maybe we do an A/B test,

maybe we just change something on the website.

So imagine you're going to the doctor's office.

Let's say you have abdominal pain.

(groans)

And your doctor says, oh very well, please lie down here,

we'll get the nurses, we'll just cut you right open

and you know, like perform a surgery.

And you're like whoa dude, I just got here

and like, that's opinion.

Like I have an opinion, it's your you know,

whatever, your liver, we need to perform

the surgery right here;

whereas you would expect that they'll run a bunch of tests,

blood tests, you know, CT scan and you know all that stuff,

like they need to conduct research

to figure out what's wrong with you

and then prescribe a method of treatment, right?

So this very same thing on the website,

yet we jump to having just opinions

and we wanna change stuff on our website

just by looking at it.

Doesn't work like that.

So we need to conduct conversion research.

And in the following videos,

we're gonna dive right into how to do this.

And so many people also ask me,

so what are the super killer ninja secrets about

conversion rate optimization?

What are the magical things that always work,

maybe some psychological trickery?

Well, no.

There no secrets, there's no magic in here,

it's purely hard, hard work.

So as I see, conversion optimization consists of two parts.

It's doing research to understand the problems,

to understand the problems,

and then from the problems we come up with hypothesis

about what should be changed to address this problem,

to fix the problem.

And then we don't know what will work,

we'll come up with four, five, 75 ideas for treatments

and then we'll need to run experiments to see

which of these treatment ideas actually works

and which one works the best.

So it's research plus experimentation.

So stop thinking about guesses,

think about data-backed hypothesis

and that's how you optimize websites.

Ask the Audiologist: What is tinnitus? - Duration: 2:49.

Hello, I'm Rex Banks and welcome to

'Ask the Audiologist' — it's a web series that provides

information and advice on hearing health

and related assistive technologies.

In this episode, we'll answer the question:

What is tinnitus and how can it be treated?

Tinnitus is the perception of a sound

that has no external source

and can only be heard by the person experiencing it.

But how do we hear a sound that isn't really there?

The answer is found in our central nervous system.

Our central nervous system

is in a constant idle state,

ready to respond to any possible encounters.

This idling causes background "brain noise."

Most of us are unaware of this noise

until something triggers it

and causes it to become audible.

Your ears are always working,

but they relax when they find a soothing sound to listen to.

They are geared to naturally want to listen to sound

and are always scanning the environment for it.

For people with hearing loss,

the amount of sound they are exposed to is reduced.

This causes their ears to strain to hear what's around them.

All of this straining

increases their sensitivity to brain noise

which manifests as tinnitus.

It's important to understand that tinnitus is not a disease,

but rather a symptom.

Some of the leading causes are hearing loss,

exposure to loud noises,

ear trauma,

stress, and certain medications.

Around 15% of the population suffers from tinnitus,

but the experience is unique to everyone.

Noises like ringing, humming, buzzing,

or even cricket-like chirping are all referred

to as tinnitus.

If you do have tinnitus, you should avoid silence

as it only intensifies your sensitivity to it.

For this reason, hearing aids are often recommended

as front-line defense against tinnitus,

since hearing aids expose people with hearing loss to sound.

For those who experience tinnitus

but don't have hearing loss,

custom ear sound generators may be recommended.

Another option is Tinnitus Retraining Therapy,

which retrains the subconscious part of the brain

to ignore tinnitus.

This involves the use of sound therapy

along with education and counselling,

which helps to reduce stress and anxiety about tinnitus.

If you think you are experiencing tinnitus,

contact the Canadian Hearing Society

to book a tinnitus consultation

to learn more about the treatment services we provide.

That's all for this episode of 'Ask the Audiologist'.

If you have a question of your own that

you would like answered in a future episode,

email me at rbanks@chs.ca.

Thanks for watching!

What is a pun? | Play on Words in English - Duration: 2:53.

Hi everyone, Kelly here. I'm an instructor with the IELC, that's the intensive

English Language Center, located at the University of Nevada Reno. Today, I'd like

to talk about a type of figurative language. It's a bit like creating art, or

getting creative, playing with words. It's often in movies and books and everyday

life, so it's something really important to learn and one of the one type of

figurative language that I'd like to talk about today is something called a

pun. I'm going to explain it by giving you an example, and actually the example

is on my t-shirt. It says, "life without the ocean is just dry," and I got this

shirt because I love puns and I love the ocean and I live in a desert, so I

thought it was really appropriate, but the pun here, a pun is a play on

words. There's a word in this in this phrase here that has a double

meaning. When when fluent English speakers hear this, we think it's

a little witty, like clever and funny because of that play on words. So, let's

talk about the word dry and the double meaning. The ocean is water, right, so wet,

something with water, is the opposite of dry. And dry can also mean something that

is dull or boring, so the opposite of exciting. So, oftentimes people think of

the ocean, like going to the beach, as something really fun and exciting to do.

In other words, we could say life without the ocean is boring and lacks water,

If that makes sense. So, that's what a pun is. It's when you use a word in a

sentence, and you're using both of the definitions at the same time, and it's

really clever and witty and fun. Let me know in the comments if you have heard

a pun before, or if you'd like to share one of your own. I hope you enjoyed this

video, please like and subscribe to see future videos, and share it with your friends

who are learning English. Thanks for watching. See you next time. Bye!

Going Gainesville is Going El Tio! - Duration: 4:18.

Welcome back to Going Gainesville. I'm Lesley and today we're coming to you

from El Tio here in the Gateway Shopping Center

El Tio has been a staple in the Gateway Center for over a decade and has

recently expanded to four locations throughout Northern Virginia. Come on and

join us as we explore the amazing tex-mex and all they have to offer

starving today, but then again, there's you who has been texting me since Sunday asking what we're going to order.

I've been craving Mexican food!

And this salsa's really good.

So I'm going to get the enchilada ranchero

I just want taquitos.

Beef or chicken?

Beef. What kinda? Surprise me!

we are here with Oscar the manager of El Tio

he's the son of the owner and just wanted to chat with him a little bit

about the roots and how you guys got started with El Tio. and how long

you've been in this location and all this good all that kind of good stuff.

Well ElTio started about 14 years ago, across the street. If you guys lived in

Gainesville long enough, you guys remember the old Christmas shop. It used

to be a little carryout place over there, very small, and then after two years of

that we decided to expand over this side. At this new location is for the last 12

years. In those 12 years we have grown into five different locations:

The Plains, Great Falls, Falls Church, and DC. (awesome) and we've been busy, (that's exciting)

Tell us a bit about your specials, your happy hours, that sort of thing. What draws the crowd in

throughout the week, day by day? Our happy hour very popular here yeah we kind of

developed a 7-day happy hour from 3-7, unless it's a sort of special holiday

it might be different, but besides that, we've been doing happy hour from 3-7 for

about four to five years now. Ever since we expand it to the bar side. (right, right)

so and it's limited but it's one of those things I just want to control the

crowd we have the far side and the patio those are happy hour so the patio is

open feel free you got happy hour there. Drinks are on specials

I have little small meals and stuff like that like, quesadillas.

has a small portion and something and you'll have a small portion when

if you want a snack you want to drink and a snack. You don't want to drink and get

filled up much right all right I want you to have a good time.

A lot of people like to drink on Thursdays apparently, we have margaritas half off: our

house margarita happy hour price throughout the whole day, before or after happy hours.

forget about happy are you so hopefully we got a house margaritas special

holiday can I wear the restaurant sounds good I'm thinking I might have to bring

my sidekick Christine over on Thursday we'll celebrate.

So what did you think? I can't move it now that I ate so much, I'm stuffed. It was so good, it was absolutely amazing. They offered us dessert, but we had no room for it. I so yeah it's been fun thanks

everybody for tuning in and going Gainesville again because we're Going Gainesville,

There's no out-of-pocket need from your company and if we can't save you money, it's absolutely free.

Our process is very simple. We put together an engagement agreement

Literally, you point us to the invoices and we take it from there.

We do the heavy lifting and you enjoy the profits.

Appreciation is the key to doing more that is why I have took some time out to thank some one who cured me of my 4 years tinnitus problem. It became a major problem to me as it was affecting my life and I was no longer comfortable so I decided to look for a solution and I came across a post of Dr Williams and how he has been helping people of the same problem with his herbal remedies I contacted him and tell him all I have been facing in my life. He told me how to get his product and how to take it after every thing I find out that all was now okay with me and that my tinnitus problem was gone that is why I have come out today to say thank you to him and for any tinnitus problem either from man or woman.
