What will 2018 bring for Republicans and Democrats? - Duration: 7:40.

HARI SREENIVASAN: Taxes were just one of the top political stories of 2017.

John Yang now takes a deeper look at President Trump's first year and what's in store for

2018 from two different perspectives.

JOHN YANG: Hari, we are joined Karine Jean-Pierre, who is a senior adviser to MoveOn.org a and

contributing editor to the online women's magazine "Bustle."

She also served in the Obama White House.

And from Phoenix, Chris Buskirk is a radio host out there and editor of the conservative

blog AmericanGreatness.org.

Chris, Karine, thanks for being with us.

Chris, I want to start with you.

You talk to folks out there on your radio show every day.

As we end the year, what is the -- sort of the state of the Trump base, of Trump supporters

out there now?

CHRIS BUSKIRK, AmericanGreatness.org: Well, a lot happier than I think folks were maybe

even two, three weeks ago.

I think the fact that the tax bill passed was a welcome balm at the end of the year.

And there are two elements of that.

One is that people generally supported the tax bill.

They think it was good policy.

And that's a big part of it.

The other part is just seeing a Republican Congress, for whom so many Trump voters had

very, very high hopes at the beginning of this year, and seeing that Congress actually

do something.

You know, I called it a do-nothing Congress for months and months and months, primarily

because it was a do-nothing Congress.

But they did something.

And I think it was good policy from our perspective.

And as we are wrapping up the year here, the Trump voters are looking and saying, you know

what, the president did a lot of things he promised to, and now we are actually seeing

Congress get on board too.

JOHN YANG: Chris, I want to continue with you.

As you pointed out, there was a lot of unhappiness about Congress.

People were still supporting the president and they were blaming Congress for inaction.

Has this solved all that?

And, also, has the gap between the president's supporters and, for a lack of a better term,

the elected officials in Washington, the Speaker Ryans, the Leader McConnells, has that been

healed over by this?

CHRIS BUSKIRK: You know, I don't know if it healed over, but it's a good start.

I guess I would put it that way.

There has been a sort of changing of the guard going on, on the American right among conservatives

over the past year or two or even three, I guess, if we go back to 2015.

And is everything brushed under the carpet?

No.

But you know what?

That is OK.

What is important here, from my perspective, I think from a lot of people's perspective

on the right, is that different factions within the Republican Party are figuring out, number

one, that they need to work together, and, number two, how to do it.

And so, as we go into 2018, that is a reason for people on the right to have some optimism.

JOHN YANG: Karine, conversely, what is sort of the state of the loyal opposition at the

end of the year?

KARINE JEAN-PIERRE, Democratic Strategist: Yes, conversely, indeed.

Look, I think that Republicans passed an unpopular bill, now that they have to go into 2018 trying

to sell it.

Not only that.

They have a president that is historically unpopular.

The Republican Congress is unpopular.

So they are facing potentially a blue wave next year from the Democrats.

And I just don't understand how they even think this is a good thing, when you see the

polling after polling that says people hate the GOP tax plan, and also the intensity.

There is an intensity on the Democratic side that we have not seen in a long time.

They are unified, they are energized.

Democrats won a Senate seat in a ruby-red state of Alabama.

That is unheard of.

People would say we had no business even going into that state and trying to fight and win

that race.

And so I think that Republicans have a tough fight against them -- ahead of them in 2018.

And I just don't see how they even stop that.

Unifying right now doesn't even make sense either, because they have an unpopular president.

Congress is unpopular.

And let's not forget there is DACA that needs to be taken care of.

There is CHIP that needs to be reauthorized, both bipartisan policies, programs that are

popular.

JOHN YANG: Chris, what about that?

The Democrats -- there is a lot of talk about whether the Democrats have -- there is an

enthusiasm gap with the Democrats, that they are more enthusiastic, more fired up going

into 2018, going into the midterms.

What about that?

CHRIS BUSKIRK: Well, there is something to it.

There really is.

And I think this is going to be a hard-fought election year.

There is no doubt about it.

Look, there is something about being opposition that tends to galvanize the people who are

in the opposition.

Republicans just had eight years of it and I think, by a lot of measures were more successful

-- as the old mantra goes, the Republicans were the party of no.

Republicans were pretty -- got pretty good at being the party of no during the Obama

years, and because there is something that brings people together when you think that

you are -- or actually are in the reality in the minority in Congress.

So, as we look at the elections coming up next year, yes, Republicans do need to figure

how to, number one, stick together, and, number two, how to make the case.

I am happy to make the case that says, look, we have a booming stock market, we have got

low unemployment, we have got a tax bill that allows people to keep more of what they earn.

We have got more or less peace abroad, and make that case to the American people in 2018.

But you know what?

You have to make the case.

And that is going to be the challenge for Republican candidates all over the country

next year, because there is a lot of enthusiasm on the left.

And so I say, let's have at it.

JOHN YANG: Karine, that is the -- making a case for the Republicans in 2018.

For the Democrats, do they have to say -- I mean, what is the better politics for them,

to stand and say no to the president, to be the opposition, literally the opposition,

or do they look to work with him on the issues you talked about, DACA, the dreamers, the

children's health insurance, infrastructure?

KARINE JEAN-PIERRE: Right.

So what I say to DACA and CHIP is that, look, it is a bipartisan support -- has bipartisan

support, is very popular with the public.

So it should be able to be fixed easily.

It's not very difficult.

And not only that.

Republicans control all three branches, so they should be able to do that.

And if they don't, it's not the Democrats' fault.

It is the Republicans' fault.

So, that is that point there.

But I do agree that Democrats need to not just be anti-Trump.

They need to also offer something as well, which is, OK, let's lift minimum wage.

Let's fight on that.

Let's make sure we expand Medicare, expand Medicaid, expand Social Security.

Let's be about something, not just anti-Trump.

JOHN YANG: Chris, are there places where the Republicans can work with the Democrats in

the next year before the elections?

CHRIS BUSKIRK: Yes, I will tell you what.

This is a place that I'm really interested in.

I think there are two big areas where Republicans and Democrats hopefully will be able to find

some common ground and come together.

Number one is infrastructure.

This is something that has been talked about by people like Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi

for a long time.

It's also something that has been talked about by Donald Trump, where he actively on the

campaign trail was talking about a big infrastructure bill.

I think that would be more than appropriate, more than welcome in 2018.

I would hope there would be some consensus on that.

And the other part is -- and this really is big picture, but I think it's important, and

that is returning the power to legislate, to make laws back to Congress.

I think Congress needs to take some of that power back from the executive branch.

I think altogether too much lawmaking power resides in the agencies and the departments

of the executive branch.

And this, I think, particularly now with Trump in the White House, this might be a time when

Democrats and Republicans in Congress can say, you know what, we need to go back to

doing the job the Constitution gives us, which is being the legislature, being the one that

makes the laws.

President Trump Destroys Last 'Right' For Migrants For 3 Years!

During Barack Hussein Obama's presidency, he allowed millions of migrants to get on

welfare as soon as they entered the U.S. so that they could freeload off of American taxpayers.

Now that Donald Trump is in the White House, however, he is letting these migrants know

that their free rides are over.

MPolitical reported that Trump has spent the last few months pushing a five year welfare

ban on migrants that will force them to actually get jobs rather than just freeload off American

workers.

While liberals have been outraged about this, other countries have already started following

suit with this as the "Trump effect" is spreading throughout the Western world like

wildfire.

Inspired by Trump, Australia has just passed a law that will make it impossible for migrants

to access welfare benefits as soon as they enter the country.

Instead, migrants will have to wait three years before they can access welfare benefits

in Australia.

Australia has put this law into effect because it will save Australian taxpayers a staggering

$1.3 billion.

Social Services Minister Christian Porter explained that many people in Australia aren't

aware that migrants could access some family and parental payments immediately after arriving

in Australia.

"Australians' expectation of newly-arrived migrants is that they contribute socially

and economically for a reasonable period before having access to our nation's generous welfare

system," Porter said.

Clearly, most Australians have no idea that migrants are living off of their hard work.

This comes after Trump made welfare reform for migrants a top priority of his presidency

from the very beginning.

"I believe the time has come for new immigration rules which say those seeking admission into

our country must be able to support themselves financially and should not use welfare for

a period of at least five years," Trump said earlier this year.

Daily Mail reports:

"Newly-arrived migrants will have to wait longer before receiving a range of welfare

payments under a hardline new approach expected to save $1.3 billion.

It will be three years before migrants can receive Newstart or family tax benefits, paid

parental leave or carer allowances.

The push to 'encourage self-sufficiency' among new migrants was one of the headline

savings measures announced by Treasurer Scott Morrison in a mid-year budget outlook on Monday.

Vulnerable people as well as New Zealanders who enter the country under a special visa

stream will be granted exemptions.

The changes will require legislation and are due to take effect in July 2018."

It's predicted that there could be an outlandish backlash by future migrants who were interested

in settling in Australia, but no longer cannot because they won't be eligible for the benefits.

One good thing about that is that it pushes people to become more responsible for their

own lives before entering the country.

There could also be push back from Democrats or liberals who believe in a far left agenda.

If migrants want to come to this country, we think they should have to get jobs just

like everybody else rather than simply freeload off of the hard work of others.

11 Exercise Tips for People With Type 2 Diabetes

If youve heard it once, youve heard it a thousand times: Exercise is an important part of a healthy lifestyle. And now that you have diabetes its even more so.

" Exercise will burn up some of the excessive sugar floating in your bloodstream to fuel your muscles during workouts. Its basically a straightforward and natural way to reduce your blood sugar," says Dr.

Michele Olson, an exercise physiologist and adjunct professor of sport science at Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama. Fortunately, you dont have to run a marathon or swim a mile to reap the benefits of working out.

A little change will go a long way in preventing the long-term complications associated with diabetes. Get started with these 11 tips: 1. Do a blood sugar check. You need to think about your blood sugar levels both before and after exercising.

If your blood sugar is low prior to working out, then snack on 15 grams of fast-acting carbohydrates (like an apple, orange, slice of bread or granola bar) and wait 15 minutes before re-checking.

If its within your target pre-exercise range, then hit the gym; if not, continue to follow the 15/15 rule (eat 15 grams of carbs, wait 15 minutes) until its within a normal range.

If your blood sugar levels are too high before a workout, focus on having a protein-rich snack an hour or so before you want to get started.

Listen to your body. If youre on medication to lower blood glucose levels and you end up feeling weak, tired and tempted to call it quits during your workout, it could be that your blood sugar is low.

To be safe, pause and check your levels. Sipping on a fast-acting carbohydrate source — such as a sports drink, 100 percent fruit juice or five to six crackers — can bring you back to normal.

Refuel ASAP. What you eat after your workout may be one of the most important foods you eat all day.

"Refueling after exercise is important to prevent a drop in blood sugar levels," says Erin Palinski-Wade, RDN, CDE, and author of 2 Day Diabetes Diet. "This is also the time that you replenish glycogen stores that have been depleted in your muscles." She says that for every half-hour of exercise, aim to eat 15 to 30 grams of carbohydrates (try eight ounces of milk with a medium apple, for example).

If your blood sugar is elevated after exercise, focus on refueling with proteins like tofu, beans, fish, Greek yogurt or hard-boiled eggs. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. "People with diabetes always need to add extra fluids to the minimum recommendations," says Olson.

(She says for men thats an average of 100 ounces of water a day, and for women about 75 ounces.) " Water helps to dilute the blood and moves waste through your kidneys," she explains.

Never start your workout if you feel thirsty. Thirst means you are under hydrated, says Olson. Drink one to two 8-ounce bottles of water beforehand, and then drink about a third of a cup of water every 15 minutes during exercise.

Train for fun. Researchers discovered that people with Type 2 diabetes who used a Wii Fit video game as their only form of exercise for a 12-week period experienced a reduction in elevated blood sugar levels — proof that working out shouldnt feel like punishment.

  So think about what you like doing — swimming, tennis or biking — and do it for fun. The rest will follow.

Sit less, move more. Even if you think youve checked working out off your to-do list, dont plant yourself in front of that computer screen for the rest of the day.

Not even exercise can undo the harm of sitting for long stretches, according to a review published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.

Whats more, a study from the University of Leicester found that decreasing sitting time by 90 minutes in total in each day may result in critical health benefits for those with diabetes.

If you work 9 to 5, try to get up and move around every hour for at least 10 minutes. Exercise in increments. Instead of doing one long workout, consider breaking it up throughout your day.

A Canadian study found that participants who engaged in high-intensity exercise (10-minute bursts, three times per day) experienced a larger decrease in blood sugar patterns over a three-month period compared to those who performed more sustained, lower-intensity exercise.

Galina Denzel, co-author of Eat Well, Move Well Live Well: 52 Ways to Feel Better in a Week recommends doing things like power walking during your lunch break or going up and down a large set of stairs in your office before you head home.  8.

Walk after meals. Going for a stroll after you eat directs blood sugar to active muscles, and your muscles contractions use up glucose, thereby lowering your levels. Researchers suggest waiting about 30 minutes after a meal and then taking a 15-minute walk.

"This can be done after every family dinner as a way to bond with your kids or catch up with friends, so it doesnt really feel like working out but its doing something to jumpstart changes in your body," says Denzel.

Get a good pair of kicks. A side effect of diabetes is that the reduced blood supply to your feet can cause a loss of feeling known as peripheral neuropathy.

This can mean that foot injuries like blisters, which can happen when youre working out, do not heal well.

"One of the most important rules in working out with this disease is wearing shoes that fit well and protect your feet," says Olson.

Also, make sure to watch your feet for redness, sores and bumps, and check in with your doctor regularly if you notice any new foot problems. Lift weights. Dont forget about the dumbbells during your workouts.

While either aerobic activity or resistance training alone can improve the blood sugar levels of someone with Type 2 diabetes, doing both three times a week had the best results, discovered a studypublished in the Annals of Internal Medicine.

"Experiencing an increase in lean muscle mass from weight training can boost your base metabolic rate and cause you to burn calories at a faster rate," says Olson. And burning those calories keeps your blood glucose levels in check.

Your bodys fat-to-muscle ratio decreases, reducing the amount of insulin you need in your body to help store energy in fat cells. Use apps like Jefit Workout or Gymstar to find databases of moves and get customized routines to follow.

ID yourself. Wear a necklace or bracelet or carry something that identifies you as a person with diabetes at all times.

"You never want to be somewhere and have an attack and be unable to get the help you need," says Olson. Make sure you indicate whether or not you take insulin and list an emergency contact as well.

so the first thing I got was the thing in my stocking and

and just some Toblerone, this is good!

The next thing I got was this little

dream journal which has a little bookmark

because I like to write down my dreams and share them.

They're green, and they're actually, all the pants I got are guy jeans

because I don't like girl jeans, because they don't have pockets

But yeah, so I got these green ones

And they are tight at the bottom they're lose at the top and ankle

They have deep pockets which I love

next one is this white one. It's not really white. It's just a light beige

Beige? Lite khaki very light, and it's the same style actually has pockets

And the last pair of joggers, I've got

country's police officers.

The clown was constantly inviting BLM terrorists to the White House to hang out, even rolling

out the red carpet for BLM leadership just days after one of their members slaughtered

5 Dallas cops.

But thankfully, the time for these lawless morons to run rampant has ended.

Ever since Trump got into office he made it clear that his administration would have the

backs of our nation's police.

And over Christmas, President Trump did something completely unprecedented for our police, that

it's sending Obama and his minions into an absolute rage.

If there's one thing we've learned about our new President, is that he always puts

his money where his mouth is, as he fully understands that actions speak louder than

words.

Trump decided to do something incredibly special for the police officers assigned to protect

him over Christmas that's immediately putting cop-hating Obama to enormous shame.

President Trump spent Christmas with his family at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, which

takes an incredible amount of security given the current Trump-hating atmosphere plaguing

our country.

While Trump always treats everyone assigned to his detail incredibly well, the police

and Secret Security were never prepared for the special thing that the President of the

United States did for them, as he treated them all to "a full Christmas spread,"

that "all came out of the president's pocket, without a dime apparently spent for

the dinner by taxpayers," Conservative Tribune reported.

Conservative Tribune went on:

That's a pretty big move to begin with, but it looks positively great when you consider

the previous White House's acrimonious relationship with the nation's police.

It was so bad that in summer of 2016, right after five Dallas police officers were shot

and killed during a Black Lives Matter march, the executive director of the National Association

of Police Organizations said that then-President Obama had engendered a "war on cops."

William Johnson said that the "continued appeasements at the federal level (by the

Obama administration) with the Department of Justice, their appeasement of violent criminals,

their refusal to condemn movements like Black Lives Matter, actively calling for the death

of police officers, that type of thing, all the while blaming police for the problems

in this country has led directly to the climate that has made Dallas possible."

This isn't the first time that President Trump has gone out of his way to do something

nice for our country's police officers.

Over the summer when one of the motorcycle cops who was escorting Trump's motorcade

in Indiana suddenly lost control of his bike and crashed, the President immediately dropped

everything on his schedule, even grounding his flight, to make sure that the officer

was okay.

Several photos showed the motionless officer with several bleeding cuts lying next to his

police motorcycle on the side of the highway.

As the critically wounded officer was being treated by emergency hospital staff, the unexpected

happened.

Officer Turner received a phone call from a frantic President Trump who was defiantly

refusing to board his plane until he got confirmation that the officer was okay.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department "posted to Facebook that Trump refused to

take off until he spoke with the wounded officer to thank him for his service," IJ Review

reported.

Our President continually proves that he always has the best interests of Americans at heart

with the genuinely nice way he treats anyone he comes into contact with.

Whether it's kneeling down to kiss a baby, chasing down a Marine's hat that's blown

off, taking time from his busy schedule to visit our wounded warriors, or going to a

fallen soldier's funeral, Trump's sincere care and compassion for Americans truly knows

no bounds.

It's so wonderful to finally have a president in office who supports law and justice and

isn't propping up violent cop-hating terror groups like BLM.

You know Obama is pissed to have Trump rip the spotlight away from him, after Obama made

a complete idiot out of himself over Christmas, after being spotted singing Christmas carols

with women wearing pink p*ussy hats.
