welcome to Wright Ideas with Susan I'm down my rumpus room in my happy place
having fun decorating and thinking of Christmas decoration and gift ideas so
today I thought I would spend some time just going through a few ideas to maybe
inspire you I'm sure you have got a lot of good gift ideas to give to your kids
before the Christmas holidays now for us in Australia we begin our summer on
December 1st so we pretty much finish at the end of November our teaching that
means a lot of our gift ideas probably focus more so on Christmas also not all
of them are craft orientated so I'll start with the ones that aren't craft
orientated because I know everybody's not into crafts but these also could be
crafts for kids so remember that as well so let's get started one of the easiest
things to do is just give your kids a lovely little Christmas card and in it
you can put a little bookmark and there are so many great little bookmarks that
you can download from the internet and from Pinterest so that might be an idea
and write a little note I used to write to every single child
and a little note of thanks for the great year that we had and that often is
a great little idea that you can do for your students the other thing that I
have done in the past is... I don't know if you remember or if you had a chance to see my
birthday bag clip but this is a similar sort of idea what I do is I just put
cheap little things inside a Christmas box the kids get to pick something to
take home at the end of the year just as a little gift thanking them for
being such a great class and great kids now the other thing you can do with this
we can play a little game with it - it's called pass the parcel here and what you
do is - you put music on and the kids pass the box around the circle and then when
the music stops they get to look in the box and they get to pick something to
take home. so that's a good little sort of end of the year game and a little
gift idea you can give to your class and another thing that I
would like to do mostly is I like to tie in my gift or my little token gift
into a biblical story or a biblical principle one of my favorite to do at
the end of the year is Psalm 139 now I have done an object lesson on that and
you can have a look at on the Internet and basically after we do that lesson
the kids get to choose one of the shells and take home as a reminder that
God made them special He made them unique and he made them marvelous and so what I do
throughout the year is I collect lots of shells and and that becomes a little
last lesson of the year and also a take-home gift for them and also it's
our summer here so it works out really well now let's get into some of the
crafty ideas now these crafts can be done by the kids
and if you want to know how you just need to check out my gumnut video and
you'll see exactly how to do them there so you can actually do it as an activity
with the kids or if you like just to do it yourself you can do it yourself let
me just show you a new one that I've tried this year and that is I was
walking in my neighborhood the few years ago and I came across a tree that had
all these seed pods at the bottom of it as I collected them and I stored them in
my garage and this year I decided to take them out and decorate them here's some of
the beautiful beautiful designs that I've done and again kids can do this
really easily or you can just do them for the kids themselves so I plan on
tying this into a famous story Christmas story which one do you think yeah the
Wise Men so I might save the Wisemen story for being the last story of the
year and as a take home they get to take home one of these beautiful star
seat pod ornaments basically this is a seed pod you know it's got these really
neat seeds that are in them when they fly out and you may think oh I
don't have gum nut ornaments - you don't have gumnuts, but you know I bet
you have other ones so I've actually been experimenting and I have done a
clip on this parable of the sower and so my idea for this would be to tell the
parable of the sower like the second week before the end of the year and and
do activities with it but one of the activities might be decorating this into
a Christmas ornament and look how cute I've got some of my favorites here this
could be the take home for some of my classes this year to remind them that
you know they've been hearing the word of God
all year long and it's landed in their heart but
is it gonna get taken away the Word of God? or are they gonna do things to grow in
their faith and so this is just a reminder a little ornament that they can
take home. also I have done a different type of seed pod you guys may not
recognize these people in Australia might these are actually Jacaranda seed pods
and they're all over the trees at the moment so I found several of these
because we have Jacarandas in our yard and so what I did is I did the same
thing with the glue and then I found these great little sequin things instead
of making bows which is a lot harder I found these at the shop the other day
and they are really perfect for little Jacaranda seed pods and look at these
great little ornaments that I've made from those I'm having a lot of fun
so those are a few ideas I was thinking about things that are inexpensive if you
are into crafting and into looking for seed pods or shells but also just some
inexpensive little gifts that you can buy at the shop and just basically give
them to the kids and let them know you appreciate having them in your class
this year I know you guys probably have lots of good ideas and things that
you've given the kids at the end of the year before Christmas and if you do I
would love for you to share it in the description below because those people
come here it's great to spur each other on and find out new ideas that we can do
and that's why I'm doing the channel so that we can share our ideas around and
if you like this little idea would you mind giving it a thumbs up that would be
awesome and if you like some more Christmas lesson ideas I have got a
playlist on lots of ideas that I've been adding year after year to that also I've
got a Christmas playlist of good Christmas music you can have a look at
and also I've got a Christmas playlist of good YouTube videos that I found
explaining the stories of Christmas anyway and there we go I'm gonna go back
to putting some finishing touches I thought I might do a little green on the
edges of this one because I did look at this one I put gold on the edge of that
one doesn't that look nice? and so I'll go back to my crafting and I hope you like
this idea and we'll see you next time bye
