that is often labeled as a man's world, we have Pandu Sastrowardoyo, and here is her picture behind me

a woman with an active role in the expansion of blockchain, technology that is behind bitcoin

Imagine a world where a technology allows you to come into a hospital with your ID which holds all your medical records

the same technology can allow monetary transfers from one country to another in microseconds

that technology is blockchain

blockchain is the technology behind bitcoin

but blockchain is not only bitcoin

Blockchain appeared with bitcoin in a white paper written by an anonymous person under the pseudonym of Satoshi Nakamoto

The technology implemented in blockchain is a technology that distributes power

where parties with different interests can work together using the same system

Let's speak directly through Skype with Pandu Sastrowardoyo Chairwoman of the Board of Directors at Blockchain Zoo, let's say hello, Miss Pandu good evening

Hello good evening.

Miss Pandu maybe you'd like to share with us,

you're a "leader" in the world of information technology, which is often labeled as a man's sphere, what is the story behind this?

If we observe the beginning of my career in the IT world, women experience some discrimination

even during university years it is viewed as a manly position,

or even after graduating companies that recruit women don't immediately position them as a programmer

despite their background as programmers or developers.

So I am very active at my company; Blockchain Zoo, previously at IBM I tried to leverage the power held by women as well,

In technology for example we see a trend in social media and community development in work related to IT.

Including in blockchain, blockchain is a technology that is affected by communities

for example if bitcoin wasn't supported by a community it would not exist.

The same applies to other blockchain technologies

so a community is very important, as we can see that technologies nowadays are based on communities

whether it is social media or blockchain

so this is actually a perfect time for women to be part of the world of technology.

Okay this means that your coworkers labeled you as manly because you were able to become the Chairman of a BOD.

This is amazing, maybe you can tell us if there are still challenges based on your gender that women face in the IT industry?

In my opinion the obstacle is at the beginning of our careers

because we must prove ourselves first

so from the beginning of my career I was considered a female geek

Female geeks are a community of women programmers

and we are underestimated, not considered great programmers

Although we can see that a person's programming abilities has no relation with their gender.

So in my experience, at my level now there isn't so much discrimination towards me

but some of my peers that are female developers still experience it.

Ok, so what are the benefits for being a female leader in an IT company?

In my view as a female leader, and hopefully other leaders out there agree with me

a technology company can include a great number of female workers.

For example, by allowing remote work from home

women can work and at the same time be with their children

even after a pregnancy leave they can work from their gadgets

Today's technology allows this

At my previous job as well as my current one, at Blockchain Zoo or IBM

a woman can work from home not only as a homemaker

but also as a programmer or engineer

This way women can have an easier time balancing their work and life

So this means technology can help women become role models to other women as Veronica from Google said previously

but initially where do we find the drive to become strong in the face of discrimination at the beginning of our careers?

I was strong when facing discrimination because this is where my passion lies

If this is what I am passionate about it means I can do this

if out there there are women facing discrimination just think back to the passion that we feel in our hearts

if we feel passion there, then that passion will be our drive

Alright, Pandu perhaps you want to give a final message to women that want to be leaders?

What is your message to these women?

I feel that we shouldn't limit ourselves because of stereotypes

In my opinion the stereotypes that exist today should be considered people's hearsay

so we should build ourselves up and form new stereotypes that women can also be IT experts

Obama reportedly in discussions to produce shows for Netflix

LOS ANGELES—Barack Obama and Netflix reportedly are negotiating a deal for the former president and his wife, Michelle, to produce shows exclusively for the streaming service.

The proposed deal was reported Friday by The New York Times, which cited people familiar with the discussions who were not identified. Netflix did not immediately respond for a request for comment. Obama spokeswoman Katie Hill declined comment on the report.

Obama senior advisor Eric Schultz, in a statement provided to The Associated Press, said the Obamas believe in the power of storytelling to inspire. Schultz said the couple continues to explore new ways to help others share their stories.

The New York Times reported that Obama doesn't intend to use his Netflix shows to respond directly to President Donald Trump or conservative critics.

Northern elders speak about adopting presidential candidate for 2019 - Duration: 3:39.

Northern leaders have promised to assess all northern candidates adopted by all political parties and select a consensus candidate ahead of the 2019 presidential election.

Vanguard reports that the leaders inaugurated "standing committees that will not only drive home their political consideration, but also ensure the crises that have since plagued the region were adequately tackled with attendant restoration of permanent peace.

The committees include 2019 presidential elections, restructuring, security and other strategic areas and are expected to submit their report by March 31.

They dismissed the adoption of President Muhammadu Buhari for the 2019 by some state chapters of All Progressives Congress. They noted that only the party's convention can adopt him for his bid.

Alhaji Tanko Yakassai who is the chairman of the organisation said: "There is a provision for adopting candidates and so far, we have not seen that happen to President Muhammadu Buhari, following his rumoured second term bid.

And until that is done, any adoption by state chapters of his party is not legal.

The constitution of APC or other political parties has not provided for the executives of the parties to nominate candidates; it is only the convention that does that.

Ours is an organisation whose doors are opened to all, we are not here for a particular political party.

"If the President had summoned a stakeholders' meeting between farmers and herdsmen, traditional rulers, political and religious leaders, National Assembly and all of that, and laid the issue before them, some ideas would be developed to provide direction for the government to follow.

He also spoke about the farmers-herdsmen crises, suggesting that ranches rather than reserves should be adopted.

Yakassai said: "I am from Kano and I served past government of Kano State for eight years and one of the programmes initiated by the late governor of Kano State, Audu Bako, was ranching.

And I think it's a good idea if the whole country can adopt it.

"We have an interesting geographical distribution. While there is rain here, in the next place, there is no rain. So you can see that these are challenges that have to be tackled through collective efforts.".

Meanwhile, a former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Austin Opara, and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) called on former president Olusegun Obasanjo to advise members of his coalition to join the party to unseat the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019.

In an interview with the Vanguard, Opara gave insight into the recent letter of former president Obasanjo to Buhari, insisting that there cannot be a better time for such call than now.
