This Bentley Continental GT is ready to hit the ... trail - Duration: 2:45.

Since its debut over a decade ago, the Bentley Continental GT has proved itself to be a powerful

grand tourer in coupe and convertible form.

Like some Bentley owners, however, we've always wondered what the 6.0-liter W12-engined luxury

tank would be like off-road.

Thanks to the efforts a Dutch outfit called Classic Youngtimers Consultancy, Bentley enthusiasts

who want the off-road prowess of an SUV but with a coupe exterior can now explore the

outdoors in a specially modified Continental GT.

The recipe for this Bentley is more than just a 3-inch suspension lift and some knobby tires:

A number of systems have been relocated from the underside and from the wheel arches to

make more room for the rolling stock.

The front and rear wings have been modified to allow for greater suspension travel, a

rear skidplate has been added, a new exhaust system installed and the suspension system

itself has been revamped to permit the Bentley to climb over more than just a curb in the

parking lot of a ritzy mall in Miami Beach.

This Continental now wears custom fender flares as well as a custom roof rack housing 4 Hella

LED lights, a spare tire and custom taillight brush guards.

Finishing touches include mirror caps and grille painted in matte black.

Given the fact that the Bentayga SUV has been on sale for some time, we don't see the factory

offering something like this, but with prices of used, early GTs being where they are, we

don't think it'll take too much money and effort to make more of these.

But this isn't a new car at all; this Bentley is from 2004 and already has about 52,000

miles on it, so the price -- available upon inquiry -- could be pretty reasonable.

Or better yet, just buy a similarly mileaged Bentley from a decade ago and do this conversion

yourself, (if you're into that sort of thing).

This package isn't bad for cities either, with the ability to climb up on curbs to find

parking spots and to cope with things like crumbling tram lines.

We have a few countries in mind where this sort of factory package just might make sense.

Next up, we want to see a trail-rated Bentayga with all the off-road gear of this Continental,

plus jerry cans on the roof rack.
