Boba Fett

Hi and welcome to Science and Star Wars

where we explore how close real-world science has come to our favorite Star Wars technology.

I'm Anthony Carboni

and over on the wall is my co-host.

Hello, my name is Watson.

He likes it there.

This week we're talking about the technology behind one of the most beloved characters in the Star Wars universe.

That's right...

The universe's most famous bounty hunter.

Using modified versions of his clone father Jango's armor

Boba Fett is packed with technology.

He has an armored chest plate,

a back mounted jetpack,

wrist gauntlets housing a fiber cord whip,

a mounted blaster,

and a mini flamethrower.

And his helmet includes a targeting rangefinder,

macro binocular view plate,

and internal comlink.

Boba Fett is cool.

Each of us believes that if we only had the right tech we could be Boba Fett.

So let's run through it.

Personal body armor is definitely a thing you can buy.

It's a little expensive but so is catching Han Solo.

He's no good to me dead.

You could even buy a personal flamethrower and...

Well, I'm not sure what you would use a personal flamethrower for.

But we do hit a bit of a snag when it comes to jetpacks.

Yes, they're real but they aren't totally effective.

Aaaahhhh!

But if there's one thing we all think about when it comes to Boba Fett it is that sweet, sweet helmet.

We don't ever get to see what Boba sees but I think we can assume he has some pretty high-end stuff in them.

Probably something along the lines of what IBM is working on at their hyper imaging labs.

If Boba Fett had radar imaging in his helmet he would be able to see through conditions of limited disability

such as as smoke, rain, or fog.

He would be able to see through common materials such as paper carton

and also he could be able to have a wider point of view than his opponents.

And while heads-up displays have become more common, they're not at Mandalorian levels yet.

But we're getting closer so you could one day be Boba Fett...

sort of.

But I have somebody here who is actually 100% Boba Fett.

It's Daniel Logan! Welcome, sir.

Thank you, Anthony. How are you doing?

Im good, man.

So we have talked about the tech.

What do you love so much about the character?

I have to say probably his armor but I feel like the fact that he can be so still.

Yeah he's got that quiet stillness, he's a little imposing.

Exactly!

But you can still feel who he is.

I don't have the tools here to test your strength of spirit Daniel Logan.

But I can test the effectiveness of some of our weaponry against tactical armor.

Now you probably recognize this.

[Laughing]

Obviously we can't get Mandalorian armor.

We did the best we could.

This is a 5.5 pound Kevlar vest

So Kevlar is polymer weave, right?

So it's a super-strong fabric that's woven together and then layers of that weave are put over each other.

And this thing is bulletproof.

It's also stab rated against knives.

So if you run at this thing at 14 miles an hour

we're talking like Olympic runner speeds

and thrusts at it.

it will stop that knife.

We frayed a couple layers but we've got to remember this under form is white.

Wo what we're seeing is black which means...

We did get to the second layer.

We did not do it.

Let's try something a little more Star Wars-y.

Alright, fire laser

Wow!

Boba is smokin'!

Started like instantly.

We really only got through canvas and paint.

Just the paint, yeah.

I don't even think we got through the canvas.

Oh my god, that's adorable.

It's a little baby blaster burn.

I can't even deal with this

Daniel, it's desperate times.

We're just gonna have to use Boba Fett's tactics against Boba Fett.

So we had our friend Alan Pen put this together for us.

Woah!

Yeah!

[Laughing]

That was awesome!

I don't think it did anything.

Absolutely nothing.

Nothing at all!

Maybe a couple of little singes but nothing.

He is the baddest bounty hunter in the galaxy after all.

Oh no!

We are not going out like that!

Use your aggressive feelings, boy!

Greetings. Welcome to Amudhas Kitchen

Today we are going to see how to make instant peanut chutney in just 2 minutes

It is perfect sidedish for Idli, Dosa, Pesarattu and other breakfasts

Here are the ingredients

Dry roast peanuts in medium flame

Peanuts roasted well

Make sure Peanuts not turn black

Let it cool

Store it in air tight container and use it when you make Peanut chutney

So that you can make instant Peanut chutney

Add roasted peanuts in mixer

Add Green Chilli

Use Green chilli instead of dry chilli. Chutney will taste different.

Add Tamarind

Add Salt

Add water as needed

Grind to smooth or coarse paste as desired

~Tempering

Add 1 tspn oil

Add 1/4 tspn mustard seeds

Add 1/4 tspn urad dal

Let mustard pops out

Add curry leaves

Add it to Chutney

It is a perfect sidedish not only for Idly and Dosa but also for Pesarattu

US woman raises $167,000 for homeless man who gave her his last $30      .

A homeless man who spent his last US$20 (NZ$30) on petrol for a woman who got stranded on a highway has now received $US115,000 (NZ$166,960) in donations after the woman set up a fundraising campaign to help him get housing.

US woman Kate McClure said she met the man, Johnny, after her car ran out of petrol on the way to Philadelphia. Johnny sits on the side of the road every day, holding a sign, McClure wrote on the GoFundMe page.

  Kate McClure with Johnny, who gave her his last US$20 so she could get petrol. He saw me pull over and knew something was wrong. He told me to get back in the car and lock the doors.

A few minutes later, he comes back with a red [petrol] can. Using his last $20 to make sure I could get home safe..

McClure said she has returned several times to pay Johnny back and give him food and warm clothing, and is now raising money for two months rent, a car and expenses.

He is very interested in finding a job, and I believe that with a place to be able to clean up every night and get a good nights rest, his life can get back to being normal, McClure wrote.

She said Johnny is a veteran of the US Marine Corps and was previously a firefighter and paramedic. This is just a reminder that this could happen to any of us, Clure wrote on funding site.

Nearly 4000 people have donated about to the campaign in the past 12 days, with more donations continuing to appear on the page.

McClure posted a photo of Johnny in a hotel on Thursday and said they are now looking for a home for him. This has surpassed our wildest expectations, McClure said.

She also posted a video of Johnny when he was first told about the donations. That changes my life, right there, Johnny said.

Cleaning up and having a place, getting a job comes from that. I have honestly met more good people than bad, I honestly have, thats amazing.

Australian police have described the moment rescuers found two terrified men who had been stranded on the roof of their car for four days, after becoming bogged and spooked by a curious saltwater crocodile.

The ABC reports Charlie Williams, 19, and Beau Bryce-Maurice, 37, along with their dog Mindee, were on a fishing trip just north of Broome, Western Australia, when their vehicle became bogged last Friday.

After the men failed to return on Monday, police launched a massive land and aerial search to locate the missing fishermen.

SUPPLIED The men spent four days camping on the roof to avoid crocodiles after one of the animals tried to get their dog.

When they were located on Tuesday afternoon, Broome Police sergeant Mark Balfour told the ABC the men had been traumatised by their ordeal.

  The ute was bogged around 100 metres from mangroves, a popular habitat for a number of saltwater crocodiles in the region.

Obviously in the Kimberley [region] here youve got to watch the crocs and snakes, and I believe one of the gentlemen said a croc did come close to their vehicle while they were out there, so obviously they were a bit panicky about that, he said.

It is understood the men became nervous when the crocodile attempted to go for the dog. The ute was bogged around 100 metres from mangroves, a popular habitat for a number of saltwater crocodiles in the region.

They stayed on top of the vehicle and went through about six tides which covered the vehicle on a number of occasions. They were quite happy to see us and obviously quite upset, crying.

Being out there for five days in this kind of country and with the weather being quite hot, I dont know what would have been going through their heads. They were quite fatigued, dehydrated and heat-struck.

Temperatures only reached a minimum of 25 degrees Celsius, and peaked at 35 degrees throughout the week.

The rescue comes just weeks after a family who went missing while travelling between two Aboriginal communities in the Kimberley were found by emergency services in a remote part of the region.

After a two-day search involving local police, emergency services and an aerial patrol, police found the familys Nissan 4WD with a flat tyre on a track at Teronis Gorge.

Roger Federer has had an impressive year, winning the Australian Open and Wimbledon Grand Slam titles. The Swiss was a notable absentee on the clay courts this season, allowing Rafael Nadal to clear up at Roland Garros.

However, that could be about to change as Claudio Mezzadri has revealed Federer fully intends to compete on the clay in the New Year.

When asked if the world No 2 would be at the Rome Masters, Mezzadri told Italian outlet SportFace: "He said he intends to play the clay-court season in 2018.

"Federer is doing really well, I met him several times in Basel for lunch.

"He is a happy man, he is managing his career in the best way and will play for a few more years." However, Mezzadri revealed the tour is beginning to take its toll on the 36-year-old and it should come as no surprise if he does wind things down.

"After 20 years and 1400 tennis matches, to be able to maintain the necessary levels, it has to makes an impact," he added.

"Talking to his coach I found that before playing a match Roger takes several hours of stretching and massage. "Then he heats up and then back exercises, and after the game again, stretching and relaxation for the back.

"We understand, therefore, that picking and choosing his programme is crucial to ensure he does not over do it.".

Femi Fani-Kayode, former Aviation Minister, on Thursday took a subtle swipe at the President Muhammadu Buhari's government over its perceived bias in the ongoing anti-graft war.

Fani-Kayode faulted the arrest of former Secretary to the Government of the Federation,SGF, Pius Anyim while ex-Rivers Governor and Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi is retained in the current Federal cabinet.

He wondered why government operatives "lay siege" on former Director General of the Department of State Services, DSS, Ita Ekpeyong while ex- SGF, Babachir Lawal is allowed to go free, despite corruption allegations against him.

In a tweet via his social media handle, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chieftain, further faulted the arrest of opposition leaders while embattled sacked Pension boss, Abdulrasheed Maina is allegedly been protected by the government.

He wrote: "You lay siege to Ita Ekpeyongs home yet u allow Babachir Lawal to go free.

"You detain Pius Anyim yet u retain Rotimi Ameachi in your cabinet.

You arrest opposition leaders and humiliate their family members, yet you protect Abdulrasheed Maina and shield Maikanti Baru.

"GOD JUDGE U!".

Cardio HIIT Workout For Men - Quick Sweat Fat Burning Circuit - Duration: 7:17.

and in this video we're going to be doing a cardio HIIT workout. Remember we

post awesome workout videos like this every week and you don't want to miss it

so go ahead and like the video hit that subscribe button below and prepare to

get sweaty

alright go ahead and start your clock in three two one

here we go alright this workout is 100 jumping jacks 75 air squats 50 pushups

and 25 burpees and you're done so this type of workout is called a

"chipper" workout so we basically give you a certain

amount of movements and a certain amount of reps and you know the sooner you get

all the reps done the sooner the workout is finished so if you guys real quick

here before we get started if you guys want more information about the types of

workouts that we do if you want scaling options and modifications for any

movements and if you want awesome warm up and cool down videos just head over

to our description link or description box and we have prepared a free cheat

sheet for you guys it's called the ultimate bodyweight movement cheat

sheet it's free just click the link and we'll send it to you right away so let's

talk about this workout real quick you know here we are we're just getting

started with the hundred jumping jacks you guys can break up your reps for this

workout any way you want basically whatever rep scheme that suits your

fitness level ok so for this one I'm obviously gonna try and go for 100

straight there we go where we just finished 100 straight but hey if you

have to break up your reps to like you know two sets of fifty three sets of

twenty you know four sets of 25 or whatever I mean just pick a number that

works for you right? you know this is your workout right? you want to make it

work for you so same thing with these air squats right there's 75 of them pick

you know pick a number that works best for you or hey you know you can try and

challenge yourself and go for 75 unbroken which we're gonna try and do

here so you know there you go we're just gonna change it up

change up our position so there we go I think that was either 20 or 25 I can't

really remember here there's so many of them but hey like I said it's okay to

break them up right you're not losing too much time if you just honestly you

know stop for a second or two and you know just catch your breath right again you

know for any of the movements that we do here you just want to make sure that you

perform it with good mechanics so you don't get hurt right you always want to

make sure that you keep these workouts safe right you want to make sure that

you know you can work out again the next day okay if you're like me at this point

your legs are probably on fire and that's okay last few reps here

hopefully you know you're almost done your squats as well if not that's okay

just chip away at it all right that was it now onto the air squat so kind of the

halfway mark of this workout again same deal there's 50 of them you know for

some of you guys this and the next movement are probably gonna be the most

challenging movements of this workout again you know it's all about breaking

them up to smaller sets and hey you know what if 50 is too much for you at this

point you can scale the reps back a little bit right maybe do 40 or even 30

right just pick a number right this is supposed to be challenging it shouldn't

be miserable right there's a big difference there you know you want to

make sure that you can mean the intensity for this workout if you're

at a point where you know you're just like failing reps or you just doing one

or two reps at a time then you know you've lost the intensity right so it's

better to scale it back do it and you know so you can make sure that you can

still go at a high intensity right? you know it's okay to take breaks even look

at the clock see where you're at shake off your arms and get right back

into it right for your push-ups again as always you want to make sure that

you keep your back nice and straight and your thighs never touches the ground all

right on to the last movement here 25 burpees

okay so burpees you guys probably notice we do a lot of them at Newbie Fitness

Academy why? because it is the ultimate body weight movement it is the king it

literally does everything and involves your entire body you want to talk

about a full body workout this is it this is the movement okay so there's

only 25 of them you know it might seem a lot at this point but you know what we're

here to work out hard right so for this one again you know I would probably try

and break it up to smaller sets maybe a set of 15 and then a set of 10 maybe 5

sets of 5 catch your break you know at the end of every sets just make it a

little bit more mentally easier right little sideways view here also it

gives me a chance to look at the clock and you guys don't forget to breathe if

you need to take a sip of your water or whatever you're drinking right now go

ahead and do that we're gonna speed it up a little bit here we're gonna try and

catch this workout before the six minute mark

Taxpayers Foot The Bill For Sexual Harassers In Congress - Duration: 3:05.

Recently it became painfully obvious through news reporting that we have a very real problem

with sexual harassment in the halls of Congress.

Not only have we seen two women so far come forward and accuse Al Franken.

John Conyers has been accused by people.

But we also learned that over the last 10 years, throughout all the members of Congress

more then $17 million has been paid out to settle sexual harassment claims filed against

members of the House, and the Senate.

$17 million.

That's a lot of money.

So where does that money come from?

I mean, that's a big question most people have.

Are these congressmen paying it out themselves?

Are they Senators forking over the cash to keep these women quiet?

No.

That $17 million according to a new report by CNN, came from tax dollars.

100% of that money to pay off sexual harassment victims so that they don't come forward and

expose the disguising behavior of men in the halls of Congress came from taxpayers.

So the people who perpetrated this sexual harassment, the people who can't control themselves

around women, they didn't learn a thing because there was no punishment for them.

They got to dip their dirty little fingers into the tax pool, and pay off the victims

with our money.

We as American taxpayers at this point are subsidizing this sexual harassment being carried

about by men, elected representatives in the halls of Congress.

And if that doesn't piss you off, then I don't know what would.

Because we have a very real problem in this country, it's not just in the halls of congress.

It's in every hall in this country.

It's on every street, it's in every industry, and that is a problem with men treating women

like objects and believing that they will get away with it.

And in this particular instance with Congress, the fact that these men don't have to pay

this money themselves to settle these claims, that they don't feel any repercussions for

harassing women, they will not learn.

They will not change.

They will not adjust their behavior in any way in the slightest.

Punishments are there for a reason.

Now, some punishments for some of the things in the United States don't necessarily fit

the crime.

But in this particular instance when you have serial sexual harassers going around and not

having to pay a dime for what they've done for their behavior, taking money from taxpayers,

making me and you, and everyone else in this country pay for their sexual harassment, that

is one of the more disgusting stories that we've seen come out of Washington D.C. this

year.

And we've seen some pretty gross stuff

so far.
