Chelsea latest news: Antonio Conte blasts Premier League for wrecking Champions League hopes

ANTONIO CONTE has accused the Premier League of wrecking the chances of Champions League glory for English clubs by tinkering with too many fixtures.

Chelsea will have barely 60 hours to recover from a 5,000 miles round trip to the edge of Asia with a four hour time difference before heading to Liverpool for Saturday tea-time's live televised match.

Antonio Conte has blasted the Premier League for wrecking English sides Champions League chances.

Boss Conte wants to qualify for the knockout stage of the Champions League but needs victory against FA Qarabag to do so.

He has ordered his players to keep to English time while here which means many will not go to bed until 2AM.

Chelsea were the most recent English team to win the Champions League, in 2012.

A fact not lost on Conte as he juggles the fixture pile up and the demands of TV companies.

He said: "Im talking for all the teams who are playing in the Champions League, not just for Chelsea.

At this moment, England needs to try to understand this and change something.

The Italian is furious over the tinkering of so many fixtures.

Contes Chelsea will have just 60 hours to recover from a 5,000 miles round trip before facing Liverpool on Saturday.

"For a lot of time, there hasnt been an English team playing a final in the Champions League.

Why? The teams are very strong, and every team has the possibility to go through to the path to the Champions League final.

Whoever prepares these fixtures must pay great attention.

"We are doing our job.

Its important to do our job in the best way.

I think we want also a bit of respect for our job.".

This marathon trip to Azerbaijan is the furthest Chelsea have travelled in European competition.

Chelsea lost 1-0 at home to Manchester City in September having won in Madrid three nights previously.

Conte said: "This season, its the second time thats happened, this situation.

"The first time it was the same: against Manchester City, when we played on Wednesday away at Atletico Madrid returned to London at 5am and played City on the Saturday, who had played the day before us.

"Now Liverpool are playing one day before us and we have to play tomorrow against Qarabag, a long trip.

It will be very difficult for us to recover, to rest.

Whoever prepared the fixtures for the league must pay great attention.

Marcos Alonso and his Chelsea team-mates trained in Qarabag this afternoon   Pedro and the rest of the Blues squad face a juggling act to manage all of their fixtures   Antonio Conte wants more support from the authorities for English clubs in Europe "Otherwise its very difficult when you ask me if my team are ready to catch Manchester City if they put us in this type of situation." Conte is set to reshuffle his team to juggle the rigours of long-distance glory hunting with Antonio Rudiger and Pedro set to start.

onte said: "I have to make the best decision for these games.

Also because we are playing every three days.

"Its normal to have rotation for the team.

But I trust all my players.

"I have my choices and Im very sure on my choices.

I trust in all my players.".

Agenda for South Korean Foreign Minister's first visit to China - Duration: 4:37.

Seoul-Beijing relations has never been the same since the fallout that began July last

year.

That's when South Korea decided to deploy THAAD to upgrade defenses against growing

threats from up North.

Expressing strong opposition to the move claiming the anti-missile system pose a national security

threat, China responded with drastic measures to hurt Korean businesses reliant on Beijing.

Finally we are seeing visible signs of a long overdue turnaround... the latest being Seoul's

foreign minister making her first visit to China, to fine-tune preparations for an upcoming

summit.

For our news features tonight, Kim Hyesung sheds light on how the two sides can learn

and grow from the experience.

A detente.

A joint statement by Seoul and Beijing on October 31st, announcing the normalization

of bilateral ties.

Then, back-to-back talks between South Korean President Moon Jae-in and Chinese President

Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the APEC summit.

And this week, South Korean Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha is on her first trip to Beijing

to meet with her Chinese counterpart Wang Yi.

All this after a more than year long standoff between the two countries after Seoul's deployment

of the THAAD system resulted in China's unofficial economic retaliation against South Korea.

(Korean) "The THAAD conflict only ended up worsening

their relationship without China being able to reverse the THAAD deployment.

It also drew South Korea even closer to the U.S., undermining China's interests in the

region.

So following the Party Congress, during which Beijing announced its new foreign policy of

forging friendlier ties with its neighbors, we are seeing a normalization of the diplomatic

relationship."

The improved relationship has also spread to the economy.

South Korean companies cashed in on China's Singles Day online shopping bonanza and South

Korean stars are back on Chinese state TV again.

(standup) "It's not just Korean businesses.

The tourism sector, which was hit hard by the fall in Chinese tourists following the

travel ban, suffering an on-year drop of 60 percent between March and August, is now slowly

seeing a growing number of Chinese tourists visiting the country."

Already, Chinese group tours to Korea have resumed.

Streets in Myeongdong are once again packed with Chinese tourists.

(Chinese) "I bought a lot of cosmetic goods and snacks

for my friends and myself.

Korea has good quality products."

This thaw in economic ties is encouraging news for the Korean economy, which suffered

an expected 7.8 billion U.S. dollars of losses from the THAAD backlash.

But experts say the relationship won't return to how it was before the falling out over

THAAD.

(Korean) "The THAAD conflict showed the need for a

change in the economic relationship.

China has industrialized rapidly and now Seoul and Beijing compete in many manufacturing

areas.

Instead of exporting intermediary goods to China, there needs to be a shift to finished

goods and services.

That's why at the foreign ministers' meeting, the two sides will likely discuss the negotiation

of the Free Trade Agreement."

The free trade agreement between Seoul and Beijing that came into effect in December

2015 cut tariffs for goods, but not for services or investment.

Along with discussing how to start follow-up negotiations for trade in services, the two

foreign ministers are also expected to discuss how to cooperate on China's 'One-Belt-One-Road'

project.

(Korean) "President Moon's New Northern Policy that

links the Korean peninsula with China and Eurasia has much scope for cooperation with

China's One-Belt-One-Road project and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, such

as South Korea's expertise in infrastructure construction and banking services."

Another key issue is North Korea, especially as Beijing seems to be exploring a new approach

in relations, with President Xi sending his special envoy Song Tao to Pyongyang, the first

ministerial level Chinese official to visit in two years.

(Korean) Time is running out.

North Korea is nearing the final stages of its nuclear development.

With U.S. pressuring the North with sanctions and military threats, South Korea and China

need to understand each others' approach to the North, and coordinate ways to solve the

threat through dialogue and pressure.

After the long standoff over THAAD, Seoul and Beijing have agreed to normalize relations,

with a summit between Presidents Moon Xi scheduled for next month.

But amid heightened tensions and changing geopolitics in the region, it's vital for

the two countries to work on their relationship, so that it not only benefits both parties,

but also helps lead to peace in Northeast Asia.

Which Journal is the Right One for my Paper? - Duration: 2:35.

As scientists we need to write papers. Admitt edly this is hard work.

it's the moment you present your results to the scientific community

and earn the credit you deserve. Extended submission process and

rejection can be frustrating, but please consider that most common reason why a

paper is rejected is not that the data quality doesn't meet the expectations of

the journal, but that authors choose the wrong journal for the specific publication.

So what can you do about it? First you need to have a clear and

objective view about your study and be realistic. Ask yourself and maybe your

colleagues the right questions. What is the project about? Who is the audience

you are targeting - general or more specific for people in the field?

What is the level of novelty? Is it ground breaking or more modest, but still insightful for

the community? Is it a descriptive data set, a method, a resource or a hypothesis

driven project? Do you have in vivo or in vitro data? Is there a human or clinical relevance?

Look where your peers and people in your field publish their papers.

Go through several last issues of a journal and check whether it has published

studies within your scope using the techniques that you are using.

Read the aims and scope of the journal. Check out the guidelines to authors to understand

what they're after and see the kind of policies they are implementing.

If timing is critical as you know of a competing work, you need to get it right on the

first attempt by targeting a journal with a publishing process that will suit your needs.

Find out if the decision is fast and the process efficient, as at some

journals it may take several rounds to get published. Revisions could last more

than a year. Others focus on a single round of revision achievable in just a few months.

Are you concerned about your work being scooped? A journal with a policy of

scooping protection during revision and re-review will ensure your work is

evaluated fairly and in a timely fashion. Consider posting your paper to a

preprint server. More and more journals look for papers directly from there, and

you also have the possibility to transfer to some journals directly.

If you are still in doubt whether a journal is suitable for your study or not,

just ask. Most journals accept presubmission enquiries. With an abstract,

a cover letter and a few data points, the editor will be able to tell you quickly

whether the study fits the journals aims and scope.

Now you're ready - go write! And remember, you've really worked hard for years,

so go and find a journal that makes it straightforward for you and publish with them.
