7 Reasons Why The Online MBTI Community Is Dominated By iNtuitives

It's no surprise to anyone who frequents MBTI blogs, forums and online communities

to hear that sensor types are drastically underrepresented on the Internet.

While iNtuitives make up only 26.6% of the global population, they are the definite majority

in online MBTI communities.

Here are a few reasons why this imbalance occurs.

1.

Most of our societal resources are already catered toward sensors.

With sensors making up roughly 73.4% of the global population, it's only natural that

the majority of our education systems, workplaces and social norms are catered toward sensing

types.

Growing up, sensors are more likely than intuitives to be provided with the tools they need in

order to excel.

For this reason, they may be less likely to seek out systems that help them understand

themselves, and how their method of processing information relates to the world around them.

For many sensors, the MBTI is simply telling them information about themselves that they

have already been made aware of, whereas intuitives are more likely to find that the MBTI is the

first resource they've come across that directly identifies how they process information.

2.

Intuitives, by definition, enjoy exploring theory.

Intuitives enjoy understanding the bigger picture of how things connect and relate to

one another.

They want to know the 'why' and the 'how' behind what interests them, rather than just

the 'what.'

The MBTI provides intuitives with a tool for understanding what's behind human behavior

and how those around them are interpreting reality.

Since intuitives value the ability to perceive a situation from various different angles,

they enjoy using the MBTI as a means of understanding other viewpoints.

Intuitives don't just want to know how they see the world, they want to know how everyone

else around them sees it and what the implications of those various different viewpoints are.

3.

Sensors prefer learning information that they can tangibly apply to their lives.

Sensors are more than capable of deeply understanding theory, it's just that they don't want

to waste their time learning theories that are not useful to them.

An ESTJ may become incredibly interested in the MBTI if it helps him or her develop effective

leadership strategies in the workplace, or an ESFP may enjoy it if it helps him or her

better relate to others.

Whereas intuitives enjoy learning theory for the fun of it, sensors prefer learning theory

that can be practically applied in some way.

For this reason, sensors who are exposed to the MBTI may quickly lose interest in it if

they do not see a way in which it applies to their everyday lives.

4.

The MBTI provides intuitives with a community of like-minded people that many of them have

not found in real life.

With sensing types dominating the world, many intuitives types grow up feeling ostracized

from or out of place around their peers.

This may be particularly true for INxx types, who often express difficulty relating to others

in the early years of their lives.

Even the more outgoing ENxx types often report feeling as though they've only ever fit

in on a surface level, and that they grew up longing to find others who shared and understood

their true complexity.

The MBTI community connects intuitives with like-minded people who share commonalities

in the ways that they process information and view the world.

For many intuitive types, it is a massive relief to know that there are others out there

who think, feel, understand and experience the world in a similar way to them.

5.

The MBTI provides intuitives with the language that they were previously lacking to describe

their problems.

Intuitives must reason their way to everything: why they are feeling a certain way, why a

certain problem is continuously manifesting, why something about their life just seems

off even though they can't quite put their finger on what.

The MBTI helps intuitives assign language to the hunches and feelings that they have

never previously been able to put into words.

An 'off' day for an ENTP can be explained by a disruption to their extroverted feeling.

A continuous lack of follow-through for the INFP can be explained by under-developed extroverted

thinking.

For the most part, intuitives dislike acting without first understanding the root cause

of the problem they are facing.

And the MBTI finally provides these types with the language that they need to understand

and communicate their abstract, existential problems.

6.

Intuitives tend to spend more time thinking than doing – therefore they spend more time

on the Internet.

To the average intuitive, exploring and debating ideas is significantly more interesting than

putting those ideas into practice.

An INTJ may enjoy designing a system significantly more than they enjoy implementing it.

An INFP may enjoy reflecting on their feelings for someone more than they enjoy actually

spending time with that person.

As a result of their tendency to prefer speculation over implementation, many intuitives spend

a significant portion of their time reading, researching, debating and sharing ideas online.

Whereas sensors want to see the potential results of their theorizations as soon as

possible, most intuitives are happy to dissect and analyze a theory seemingly forever, and

the Internet is a great place to do just that.

7.

The intuitive community (unfortunately) fuels a sense of backlash toward the sensing community.

Let's take a minute to talk about the very real intuitive bias that exists in the MBTI

world.

Many Ns grow up feeling as though their particular form of intelligence is being misunderstood,

disregarded or overlooked by the sensors that surround them.

Therefore, it is a relief to finally find a community in which their strengths are both

understood and celebrated.

While finding the MBTI community is a wonderful experience for most intuitives, it has also

spurred a unique online counterculture, in which many intuitive types glorify iNtuition

as a trait that is superior to sensing and deem themselves a master intellectual race.

This attitude is often quick to turn sensors off of the MBTI, just as intuitives often

see their form of intelligence go unappreciated in the real world, sensors often see their

form of intelligence go unappreciated in the MBTI community.

This semi-intentionally fosters an exclusive community of intuitives on the Internet – who

occasionally sit back to wonder why the hell there are no sensors in the online MBTI community.

What is Thanksgiving? | Learn About the US | English and American Culture | Holidays - Duration: 2:13.

What is Thanksgiving? Okay let's start with a history. where does it come from?

first there's the history that we tell ourselves, more of a legend, not very

accurate. this is the idea of the pilgrims some of the first European

settlers who arrived to the United States, and the Native Americans or

Indians, having this big friendly feast in the year 1637. so that's what we tell

ourselves, that's the friendly history of

Thanksgiving. but in reality, on that same date, it was actually a massacre. the

slaughter of around 700 Native Americans. the reason that the pilgrims celebrate,

is because after they kill this huge number of Indians, they had a big feast.

they ate a lot of food and now we celebrate that. a dark history, right?

anyways it's a happy holiday! so when do we celebrate it? the last Thursday of

November, every year! and so what exactly is it today? it's the most important

holiday for visiting family. now, it's not the most important holiday. Christmas is

the most popular and celebrated holiday. Thanksgiving is just the most important

for visiting your relatives, seeing your family and friends. so what do we do? well

we eat, we talk and we argue. the arguing is more of a joke, but let me explain!

first we eat. It's most common on Thanksgiving to have a Thanksgiving

dinner, although some people do have a Thanksgiving lunch. the three most

important foods: turkey, anything with cranberries, and pumpkin pie, or really

any type of pie. and because all of the family is there, gathered around the

table eating this big feast, there's a lot of conversation. it's a good time to

catch up with family and friends. to find out what people have been doing. but

because you're catching up, especially with a lot of your distant relatives,

people you don't know very well, it's a good opportunity for debate and argument.

that's why we always are very careful, we tread lightly, when it's time for the

Thanksgiving dinner. you zip your mouth shut, and just eat! so

those are the most important characteristics of Thanksgiving. if you

have any other questions, put them in the comments!

The World Is Mine by Mario Lucian Andreano | Music Video | Rise Season Finale - Duration: 3:22.

I'm taking my chances along with my dreams, I've got'em all packed up

in my fantasy limousine, with miles and miles of road ahead,

I'm going far away, to my fantasy land.

With a tic tac clock to remind me the time is right

to go through everything with a smile, and taking every chance that the world can

give, going far away.

Step by step, until the world is mine, I'm gonna live my life and I'll be alright,

I'll be taking every chance, I'm starting today.

Step by step, 10 feet off the ground, I'm gonna live my life at the speed of sound,

up high, the world is mine.

With ups and downs but it doesn't matter, 'cause you keep moving forward and you're

gonna get better Taking every right turn and don't look back

but all the things you learnt you're not allowed

to forget.

And don't stop moving 'cause you'll be left behind,

nobody is gonna wait while you mess up your life,

I'm dedicated to win, 'cause this is a race,

I'm prepared to play this game with a smile on my face.

Step by step, until the world is mine, I'm gonna live my life and I'll be alright,

I'll be taking every chance, I'm starting today.

Step by step, 10 feet off the ground, I'm gonna live my life at the speed of sound,

up high, the world is mine.

Step by step, until the world is mine, I'm gonna live my life and I'll be alright,

I'll be taking every chance, I'm starting today.

Which Journal is the Right One for my Paper? - Duration: 2:35.

As scientists we need to write papers. Admitt edly this is hard work.

it's the moment you present your results to the scientific community

and earn the credit you deserve. Extended submission process and

rejection can be frustrating, but please consider that most common reason why a

paper is rejected is not that the data quality doesn't meet the expectations of

the journal, but that authors choose the wrong journal for the specific publication.

So what can you do about it? First you need to have a clear and

objective view about your study and be realistic. Ask yourself and maybe your

colleagues the right questions. What is the project about? Who is the audience

you are targeting - general or more specific for people in the field?

What is the level of novelty? Is it ground breaking or more modest, but still insightful for

the community? Is it a descriptive data set, a method, a resource or a hypothesis

driven project? Do you have in vivo or in vitro data? Is there a human or clinical relevance?

Look where your peers and people in your field publish their papers.

Go through several last issues of a journal and check whether it has published

studies within your scope using the techniques that you are using.

Read the aims and scope of the journal. Check out the guidelines to authors to understand

what they're after and see the kind of policies they are implementing.

If timing is critical as you know of a competing work, you need to get it right on the

first attempt by targeting a journal with a publishing process that will suit your needs.

Find out if the decision is fast and the process efficient, as at some

journals it may take several rounds to get published. Revisions could last more

than a year. Others focus on a single round of revision achievable in just a few months.

Are you concerned about your work being scooped? A journal with a policy of

scooping protection during revision and re-review will ensure your work is

evaluated fairly and in a timely fashion. Consider posting your paper to a

preprint server. More and more journals look for papers directly from there, and

you also have the possibility to transfer to some journals directly.

If you are still in doubt whether a journal is suitable for your study or not,

just ask. Most journals accept presubmission enquiries. With an abstract,

a cover letter and a few data points, the editor will be able to tell you quickly

whether the study fits the journals aims and scope.

Now you're ready - go write! And remember, you've really worked hard for years,

so go and find a journal that makes it straightforward for you and publish with them.

What is a Cantata? - Duration: 3:31.

Cantata is a usually short composition featuring several movements and it

features a story so in the case of Bach's cantatas we feature an element

from the Bible but we also have secular cantatas which might feature a

mythological story. The word cantata comes from the Italian 'cantare', 'to sing'

and quite often we have two main forms of composition within a cantata we have

an aria which is really just a melody an 'air' if you like and that's the sort

of usually the thoughtful bit where the singer thinks and reflects on one aspect

of the story and then linking these arias we have what's called a recitative

and a recitative is when the story is told more explicitly and that usually

takes the form of almost a spoken type of text but obviously with a melodic

shape so its presented by the singer but again it's a much more spoken thing and

the bass department simply plays chords to support this bit of the story so

much more direct action.

When Bach got his job at Leipzig one of the jobs, these duties he was expected to

do was to compose a cantata for the Sunday service and he was expected to

come up with a new cantata for every single calendar

service. This is an incredible undertaking and the fact that we have so

many surviving cantatas by Bach shows quite how prolific he was and how

hard-working he was to create these astonishing compositions and to leave us

with this amazing body of work. I like to think that at the end of every service

on Sunday he would heave a big sigh of relief and then start work again on the

next cantata on Monday and of course this was a new composition it needed new

parts to be presented and to be written out. It would also need the choristers to be

rehearsed, instrumentalists to be assembled and I think we can't

really underestimate how much work this must have been and what an amazing

achievement it is that we've got these unbelievable compositions.
