I am Skip La Cour. I am so glad you are here joining me for this live broadcast
workouts for older men live I come to you just a little bit every single day
just two men going through the journey of life two men with a mutual passion
for fitness and for taking all areas of our life to the next level this is a
show that I call workouts for older men live for older men with busy productive
lives they've have their family life really important under control they have
their business life they have success there whether they're a leadership a lot
of times management position they have their own business they have that under
control and this is the time in their life maybe the very first time in their
life where they're putting their willpower focus energy and time to
mastering their health and their fitness and their physical appearance maybe some
of the men who are a little bit older with busy productive lives
they did it 10 20 years ago they were into all the different training
strategies all the different eating doing whatever it took to have that body
and it work for him give him that sense of confidence gave him that great body
certainly and then they moved on to work on their family life their business life
and now they're getting back into it right at this point in their life but
this time they're under different conditions because this time they can't
put everything aside just to stop and eat apne sapne
go to the bathroom drink water to go to bathroom water separate cardio 10 hours
think about the gym all the time meal prep Sunday one whole day prepping meals
they can't do that and but they still want to have that great body at this
time about maybe they have a health concerns for the first time maybe
they're thinking about their kids why they have to keep up with their kids
they got to start taking care of their physical body they can't do it the way
they did it before a little bit over they got that busy productive life and
those are some of the men that love this message

to continue my series of the top ten fitness challenges that busy men who are
a little bit older face so I'm going through a series of videos the top ten
fitness challenges that older men with busy lives face and today is number
eight and number eight is finding the right training strategy and maybe you
had this frustration yourself I mean you got this busy life and you're coming
into the whole fitness world Road so in YouTube Facebook social media platforms
and you're learning from the experts that passionate maybe much younger
fitness experts and they got these great training strategies they come to you a
certainty and passion for these optimal training strategy and you're trying to
do them all optimally and they look good they sound good they sound convincing
the only challenges how you gonna do all that with your busy productive life is
it even necessary to be optimal with your training strategies I know that's
that would be great if you could but they're not living under the same
conditions as you are many of them don't have the same concerns what's important
to you it's not important to them and that's great right the challenge is when
you're looking for that right training strategy we get overwhelmed we get
frustrated sometimes we don't think we can do and we don't do not we don't do
anything or we bounced from one training strategy the other so today when I talk
about that top ten fitness challenges that older men with busy lives face I'm
going to talk about number eight and that's finding the right training
strategy again I am so glad you're here doesn't matter what social media
platform it doesn't matter if you're watching this live on a replay version
I'm so glad you're here all right let's do another set here and then I'm
gonna start with today's message so I see all those comments coming through

this I appreciate how buildings tribe building this energy like I said this is

right so much so you can't find the right train say you're taking the time
to be with me I can't tell you how much I appreciate that that's why I come to

all right hello hello hello thank you so much so many men who are new to these
live broadcast to our social circles I want to take the time to introduce
myself my name is Skip la Cour I am a coach I am a speaker I'm an author I'm
the creator for the man formation of personal development program for men
give you more clarity and more imagination more certainty more control
over your life both inside and outside of the gym body language confidence
voice qualities controlling frames of the relationship you know you have a
good message you're a great guy you want to be heard influence persuasion how it
all works together the information that mindset actions of a powerful alpha male
leader of course I'm very proud of that has helped hundreds of men all
throughout the the world throughout the years in addition that I'm a former
6-time national champion drug-free bodybuilder and that type of focus
extreme focused looking for the optimal strategies I want to talk about that
gave me this perspective this insight that I come to you with it's a form of
6-time national champion drug-free bodybuilder moved from competing and
that extreme lifestyle and now my life sells a lot like yours I got a busy
productive life I got to fit it all on here I've been in this gym since 3
o'clock in the morning doing my work filming for you
right doing my systems which I want to talk about today even if they're not
optimal strategies it's a system that works right for me my family I got a
busy productive life you know I'm gonna have six hours in before they even
before they even wake up and that's part of what I want to talk about today when
you're looking for the right training strategy and you're really frustrated
right my life is a lot like yours and in the last 15 years I knew I couldn't eat
all those eight meals a day and three hours three meals after the optimal hour
of optimal growth after training in taking
drinking clown water and stopping conversations right in the middle of
important points maybe not for me but important for the
other person right but I had to stop and he throws millwright guy to eat those
meals to kick up that metabolism right to get optimal fat loss strategies right
separating my cardio ten hours from my weight training so I have optimal ways
so I don't lose that body fat right it consumed my life it made me a 6-time
national champion certainly helped me appreciate what works and what doesn't
but in the last 15 years I had to ease that off I had to take the risk my
identity was it like a bodybuilder but I wanted to grow I want to concentrate on
those areas of life that are important to you that weren't important to me when
I was a fitness expert everything I did was optimal I preached you I tomorrow
off tomorrow a lot of fitness says well is it optimal yeah I'm not saying that
doesn't work what you hear but that's not optimal right
optimal after you're consumed with that that word right why wouldn't you do
anything if it's not optimal right so that's what I did but I had to ease off
of that I had to create better systems and that's what I want to talk about
today I got to tell you something here I am at 56 years old looking this way
right and the effort with all my optimal strategies as a 6-time national champion
drug-free bodybuilder 1 to 10 I think it took like about an 11 effort this has
taken me like a 4 because I eased up experiment I learned the science I
learned from the younger guys right but I took the chance of what can I back off
on without you know what sometimes maybe I did maybe I backed off too much but
now 15 years I know this stuff for you that works right and especially when
it's it's all together alright I specialize in helping older men with
busy productive life learn these strategies what I call the 80/20 rule
80/20 rule in life and you'll see it universally it seems to play its part in
all areas of life is that there 20% of the things you do make 80% of the
difference it's so out of a hundred things you might do a hundred things and
maybe you're thinking you're doing that with all your fitness strategies right
it's really 20 of them make the biggest and
and all the other ones just eat up a lot of willpower focus energy and time and
take away from your busy productive life see there's a lot of men who I help they
can't do that they don't want to do that and if they do that's not sustainable
some of them did that again when there were 25 years old now they're 45 they're
50 and they think that's the only way to look great well I want to be this
physical mental emotional example that's not true I want to help you I want to
help you find that 80/20 rule it's different for everybody I have to you
know it actually talk to you to to see what you're valuing what you're not what
you're dumping that's important what you're keeping that isn't so important
all right so again I specialize with older men with busy productive lives
maybe it's the very first time in their life where they're putting their
attention finally mastering it because they worked on the earlier part of the
life all those other great things right I've got a lot of respect for the guys I
work with right or they used to do it just like me they follow my journals 20
years ago would eat their oatmeal and egg whites while they're watching me on
the internet they got away from it because that wasn't sustainable now they
have this incredible life of family relationships business and now they want
to get back to it maybe their health isn't as good and I really help them get
clarity and focus all right so that's a little bit about Who I am what I'm all
about but more importantly the unique perspective that I come from to help you
write a lot of skills and that's that's what I want to talk about so I hear this
challenge a lot of times from the men who come to me they get this message
resonates they gotta find solutions right they want to be successful in
Fitness because they know what success is like it's part of their DNA they
earned it with their family their business and they can't they don't have
their 50 years old they can't take 30 years to master the this thought process
because they know it's mental because they know that they can do it they don't
have 30 years two masters so that's why they come to me they want in the
shortest period of time they know what success feels like again in their other
parts life they don't like being second rate and so they come to me so I can
shave that process off for them but I'll tell you a lot
and I hear this Altima the right training routine why can't I find the
right training routine and a couple things that I hear and maybe you hear
this too is that you get frustrated you think the fitness experts out there oh
they're just saying it for the money all right they're telling you all these
different things they're not giving the secrets or all this type of thing and
I'll tell you this being a fitness industry for 30 years that is not true I
think that most fitness expert they are freely giving you what they believe to
be the truth right what they believe to be the truth that they're passionate
about and I'll tell you most of them need to think more about making money so
that belief and you'll hear that from other fitness experts disparaging
fitness experts I don't believe that to be true I think they're good harder
people giving you the best information I think the challenge though is that they
do a hundred things because they want to be the best and they don't know that
twenty of them are really making all the difference because they don't care they
want to be the best there that passion that that determined they're willing to
walk through a wall a fire and they're giving you all hundred things and they
all seem to you like they're all weighed the same not heavily to the twenty and
that's what's getting you confused but I think that they really have the
sincerity help you see and I know what that's like it's just that I'm I've got
fifty six years on this planet I've got thirty years of evolution alright so I
think that one thing - that's not a good attitude to think that everybody's
trying to screw your whatever right when I hear all that you know I like to stay
away from those type of people right I think if you if you would talk about
that a lot you're just going to attract people who are that negative - and then
it's just a matter of time before they turn on you right so you notice I keep
things really positive on my fitness channel and that's because that's people
I want to attract if I if I talk about you should watch out for everybody
everybody's trying to screw you right and people say yeah yeah skip you're
right everybody's trying screw I'm gonna attract people like that and it's just a
matter of time I'm gonna dangle a participle or not say something optimal
or something and then they're gonna turn on me alright I don't want that and
that's probably what you like about this and if that's you
I'm glad you're here right so but let's talk about the frustration of and
finding the right training stretch I tell you guys when you have the right
mindset when you understand the organizing principles to success in the
gym with training strategies that's all the universal things that make them true
so they all have their different may be volume or SATs or emphasis on exercises
or certain specifics but they all have certain organizing principles like
progressively overloading the muscle consistency right pushing yourself just
a little bit more mind muscle connection with whatever the routine is rest and
recovery alright see those things are what make it work right see a training
routine is just a training routine it's you right you know I could do a certain
exercise and because it wow that's a lot of weight I see guys like they see me
you know that the training they say wow you got 225 that's a lot of weight
I'm thinking you know I'm just doing that for the camera that's a little eye
candy to get into my message when I use forty fives or more on that plate see
it's not just a curl it's just not it's it's what how much weight you use it's
the mind muscle connection all right it's not just sets and reps it's not
just a training routine right so when sometimes when you're looking for the
right training strategy and think you're being misguided in this lead put it back
on you right take everything that you do to a higher standard
you should be bulletproof you should be whatever training routine that you're
given that you get the most out of it I'm not saying everyone is optimal
alright I'm not saying everyone is perfect but you don't need to have
optimal and you put that pressure on you you can get what you need out of the
training routine and so that whole frustration of the right triangle if you
think it's just gonna fit like a glove I'll tell you this when men come to me
and especially if they're like 45 55 years old and they're obsessing about a
training routine and they said they've tried all these training routines Jay I
always say don't they go look if you're coming to me for that either one or two
things life is over really good for you you have no problems if this is what
you're putting your focus at a chance you're not or you got some real
challenges and you're looking for control
all here in the gym right because you can't something's out of control in your
life I don't know which one is and how I say I assure you my life is good I'm
just looking for the right training routine to me it doesn't matter you know
why with my skill set and I'm gonna talk about that real quickly hell I can help
you with a training strategy so I can help you put your life you know give you
some perspective to conquer those other areas too got 36 years in personal
development working with the Masters I don't care what your challenges I can
help you right so again that pressure with the right training it's just
numbers everybody doesn't do it right you can give a 16 year old kid to two
months unless you do the exact training strategy that you use you know you're 50
years old right you've been doing this for 20 years there's no way he can
execute the training strategies the same way as you hopefully or he's a great kid
or you may need to step up your standards right so is it the training
routine are you right there's something that this is especially true when you're
old and you're falling the fitness experts got to tell you something you
know part of the challenge is you're searching for the optimal strategy now
by optimal what that basically means it's the very best the very best method
optimum the very best right you don't necessarily there's so many factors into
being healthy and fit and having muscle moves at body fat I mean from all the
different training to the eating to the mindset the organizations of the
follow-through right you don't have to be a 10 out of 10 optimal the strategies
if you're very very good at a lot it'll all stack up there's a book I want you
to read it I'll tell you I learned from a lot of people I'm from a lot of people
this book really transformed my thinking I can't speak highly of it enough in its
how to fail at everything and still win big all right how to fail at everything
and still when bigots by Scott Adams the creator of Dilbert and what he talks
about is how when you have the right talents all and they all complement each
other right that you can still win you don't have to be the best you don't have
to be optimal with your diet optimal with your trading strategy
I know it'd be great to have ox but don't need all right I want you to get
that book again it really transform I think if you're getting one tamp out of
it that I did I gave him a stack couple with a lot of things I learned with a
lot of mentors you know I'll give you an example right when these live videos hit
right I said wow this is a way to get my message and I had III bought an
expensive computer that can handle 4k expensive camera kind of this $500
program so I could program live and it had all the bells and whistles I could
do it like a TV ship all right and I even brought that into the gym with me
in the morning because I want you guys have optimal optimal optimal optimal but
I'll tell you it wasn't sustainable it wasn't sustainable and you know now I
got three tripods I got this all planned out you know this is on an iPad all
right and so because it's light it's easy it's a good system is this the
optimal quality is it 4k if you know you know would it be better if I had this
and this and I can put graphics on the bottom and those type things sure right
but it's not sustainable right it's good and all staffs together you know you put
my editing skills I do a little ad I'm not the best editor but I can pump out a
video and once check out my six-pack for older man abs I did that with four
cameras in the gym I did it all by myself
am I the best video editor I am the best cameraman theatrics right am I the best
speaker no but when you have if you're you don't have to be optimal if you have
a set of skills and they all complement each other you'll get your end result
right and I have a privilege of talking with Scott Adams the writer of that book
he just lives down you know the street for me but it isn't like we've ever met
each other first but we did a lot of face time because for that exact same
reason he was going through the same process himself with trying to you know
have the best sound and quality for his periscopes right now and I had worked so
hard on cracking that code and all optimal things we went back and forth
guess we both do now we both spread our message on a very simple system again
you don't have to the best diet the right diet or the in
this case we're talking about the right training program doesn't have to be
optimal this is what I want you to remember if you're an older man with a
busy life and you're getting all you of your information from the fitness
experts out there the passionate fitness experts out there okay optimal is a
fitness experts best friend optimal is an older man with a busy productive
lives worst enemy all right I'll say that again optimal training stress
eating strategies in one how can this make one percent different is a fitness
experts best friend it's powerful to their identity it's it's what they live
for it makes some great it separates them from the other fitness experts
optimal is a fitness experts best friend but you don't need optimal optimal and
shooting for optimal and trying to buy into that optimal is a older man with a
busy productive lives worst enemy remember get that book alright how to
fail at everything and still win big think about systems use those examples
that system is part of a whole package with your training program put that
pressure on yourself to get more out of it
more form feel and execution rather than looking from one training student to

Finish Every Rep With Ultimate Effort To Be Ready For Your "Right Now" Moment! - Duration: 2:26.
Hi everybody from Coach Dom Costa this next video is about finishing and you
have to do that in practice with every repetition now my team has 14 more weeks
of football but you don't know if you're gonna have 14 weeks of football things
can happen you don't know if you're gonna have 14 more days of football 14
more hours of football minutes seconds so this is why you go hard every rep
every repetition that you do can you give me 4 to 6 seconds of your ultimate
effort every time because that's how we play the game ultimate effort 4 to 6
seconds we do anywhere from 140 180 190 plays per game sometimes a little more
can you do that all those times in a row 4 to 6 seconds
ultimate effort because we're going to try to practice and get you ready for
that so you're mentally ready for the chaos in a game of giving your ultimate
effort are you ready for your right now moment maybe coach put you in hey Smith hey
Jonesy Robinson hey Abdul get in there hey Hernandez here's your moment you're
ready right now get in there right now and then you have to be ready and the
only way you get ready is by practicing like that and paying attention the whole
time the reps count I had too many teams in my early coaching days we get a 14 to
nothing lead in the first quarter and they take their foot off the gas and I'm
imploring them no we gotta go you got to play three more quarters and hey we got this
14 to nothing final score 15 14 21 14 28 14 nobody cares about the score in
the first quarter second quarter halftime third quarter fourth quarter
middle of the fourth quarter last two minutes they only care about the score
they always score the counts is at the end of the game so go hard in every rep
coaches implore your kids to go hard in every rep if you need to get drills that
