Here's What's Next SpaceX Major Upgrades for Human Carrying Dragon Capsule - Duration: 6:04.
SpaceX stands to be the first private company in history to launch humans past the atmosphere
as early as April 2019.
The company's Crew Dragon capsule has been selected to begin conducting unscrewed testing
for NASA's reborn space shuttle program no earlier than November 2018, and SpaceX
is gearing up by retrofitting the spacecraft's recovery ship.
SpaceX's primary Crew Dragon recovery vessel GO Searcher is undergoing a number of modifications
in preparation for inaugural demonstrations flights of the company's first human-rated
spacecraft.
The GO Searcher will be responsible for fishing the Crew Dragon and the astronauts that will
one day be aboard out of the ocean once the capsule re-enters the atmosphere.
The ship has already been performing some trials for the past year, preparing for an
eventual dress rehearsal.
Over the last year or so, the long-time member of SpaceX's East Coast rocket recovery fleet
has been gradually receiving upgrades and conducting sea trials and mockup Dragon recovery
tests, performed in concert with the US Air Force and NASA.
Once Commercial Crew missions start launching in earnest, GO Searcher will be SpaceX's
sole Crew Dragon spacecraft and astronaut recovery vessel.
To prepare for this crucial step, Elon Musk's aerospace company has begun modifying it with
three big updates to streamline the recovery process.
These additions should help the Crew Dragon pass the tests that are required for it to
be adopted by NASA's space program.
In this video, engineering today will discuss about these three big Crewed Dragon Upgrades
to streamline the recovery process, and why the Upgrades are necessary?
So, Lets get started.
Most notably, GO Searcher is being fitted with a helipad that will be used to rapidly
transfer astronauts from Crew Dragon to Cape Canaveral, where they will go through a number
of medical evaluations and debriefings after a six-month stay in orbit aboard the International
Space Station (ISS).
The helipad is currently under construction in the central area of the vessel.
That helipad is a critical addition that will enable the rapid transport of astronauts from
the capsule to Cape Canaveral.
It will also serve to get engineers, doctors, and other personnel necessary for recovery
efforts aboard the ship.
GO Searcher will be at most a few hundred kilometers east of the Florida Coast during
its eventual recovery missions, so making it accessible by air is a critical step in
speeding up the process.
The next most obvious change to GO Searcher is a massive dome, likely dedicated to radar,
Crew Dragon communications, or both.
That dome and communications/radar array were installed over a several-week maintenance
period spent at an East Coast dry docks facility, wrapping up with an early-July return to SpaceX's
Port Canaveral dock space.
The big white dome has been added to the vessel.
This piece of equipment was attached toward the front end of the ship during the course
of maintenance.
Last but not least is the large metal structure at GO Searcher, a custom-built hydraulic lift
designed specifically to lift Crew Dragon out of the water onto the recovery vessel's
deck to be transported back to shore.
This custom-built hydraulic lift was placed at the rear of the vessel, where the capsule
will come to rest in a flat area.
SpaceX has been extensively testing Dragon recovery operations with that particular rig
throughout 2018, working with Commercial Crew astronauts, US Air Force representatives,
and NASA officials to ensure that the orchestration of those Dragon and crew recovery operations
are down to reflex by the time technicians are called upon to perform the same tasks
with real humans and hardware.
As discussed that the SpaceX's first uncrewed demonstration launch of Crew Dragon is scheduled
for no earlier than November 2018.
The date President and COO Gwynne Shotwell expressed considerable confidence in earlier
this month.
That spacecraft may end up landing on a giant inflatable cushion in order to ease refurbishment,
as the same capsule will be reflown just a few months later for SpaceX's in-flight
abort test, designed to ensure that astronauts can be safely pulled away from a failing rocket
at all points during launch.
All three of these upgrades have the potential to improve the prep time for recovery missions
as well as assist during the operations itself.
We'll have to wait and see how they perform on the day of the Crew Dragon's first unscrewed
test run.
Pending a successful uncrewed demo and in-flight abort test, SpaceX could become the first
private company in history to launch humans into Earth orbit as early as April 2019.

Maxine Waters Could Face Prison for Laundering Scheme - Duration: 11:23.
Maxine Waters Could Face Prison for Laundering Scheme
California Representative Maxine Waters has been on a mission to get President Donald
Trump impeached ever since he took office.
Now, however, it's Waters who could be on her way out the door after her own nasty secret
leaked.
Right Wing News reported that it has just been revealed that Waters' daughter has
been given over $600,000 working for her mother's campaign.
Karen Waters has been on her mother's campaign payroll, Citizens for Waters, since 2006.
Her job is to oversee an operation called "slate mailers," or "endorsement mailers."
During the 2016 election cycle alone, Karen was paid nearly $70,000 by her mother's
campaign.
Waters has been focused on filling her own family's pockets instead of actually helping
out her constituents, who desperately need it, as she represents one of the poorest districts
in California.
"During her tenure, things have gotten much worse for her constituents," wrote Jesse
Lee Peterson for WND.com in an article entitled "Time to Show 'Auntie Maxine' the Door."
"Crime is out of control.
Good jobs are gone.
Public schools are failing to educate students.
Illegal-alien gang members are driving black citizens out of their neighborhoods, yet Maxine
is spending taxpayer funds on a witch hunt."
During her decades in Congress, Waters has only passed a laughable three bills, and she
has spent the rest of her time filling her family's pockets instead of helping her
constituents.
Back in 2008, Waters was hit with three counts of violating House rules in addition to the
federal ethics code.
These charges stemmed from moves she made to establish a meeting between OneUnited bank
representatives and Treasury officials in 2008.
The committee argued that this move to benefit OneUnited bank would serve as personally beneficial
to her own interests due to her husband's ownership of stock.
This all shows that it is Waters who is the corrupt politician, not Trump!

Newcastle United 1-2 Chelsea: Late own goal maintains flawless start for Chelsea - Duration: 9:07.
Newcastle United 1-2 Chelsea: Late own goal maintains flawless start for Chelsea
Chelsea made it three wins from three with a dramatic 2-1 victory at Newcastle on Renault Super Sunday.
DeAndre Yedlin's unfortunate own goal on 87 minutes sealed the win for Maurizio Sarri's dominant side - who had 81 per cent possession - after a controversial finale at St.
James' Park.
Eden Hazard fired Chelsea in front from the penalty spot on 76 minutes after Fabian Schar was harshly penalised for a foul on Marcos Alonso, but Newcastle were level six minutes later as Joselu's near-post header was allowed to stand, despite Yedlin catching Olivier Giroud in the face with an elbow in the build-up.
Chelsea had the final word, though, as Yedlin turned Alonso's cross into his own net to maintain the Blues' flawless start to the season, and leave Rafa Benitez's men waiting for their first win.
Newcastle, bolstered by four new signings making their full debuts, set their stall out from the start and registered the game's first effort on target, Jacob Murphy's low drive drawing Kepa Arrizabalaga into a save on six minutes.
Chelsea thought they had lost Eden Hazard to injury on 20 minutes but the Belgian shook off a knock, tormented the Newcastle defence and brought the game to life as a contest.
Hazard nearly broke the deadlock on 24 minutes but his effort with the outside of his boot curled away from goal.
Six minutes later he embarked on a trademark run, beating three defenders, but he dragged a shot wide.
The subdued encounter was now frantic as two new Newcastle signings nearly provided the opener on 34 minutes, but Salomon Rondon headed wide from Federico Fernandez's cross from the left.
Pedro pounced on a poor clearance from Ki Sung-yeung and whistled a shot wide of the top corner on 36 minutes, before Martin Dubravka produced a fine save to keep the Spaniard's low effort out.
Chelsea picked up from where they left off after the interval.
An intricate move released Cesar Azpilicueta in down the right but he fired straight at Dubravka, before Alvaro Morata's touch let him down after the Chelsea captain found his compatriot in space in the area.
Antonio Rudiger rattled the crossbar with a thunderous 30-yard drive on 73 minutes before Chelsea were handed the chance to take the lead when referee Paul Tierney penalised Schar for a trip on Alonso, despite the Newcastle debutant appearing to get a touch on the ball.
Up stepped Hazard who made no mistake from 12 yards, rifling the ball to Dubravka's right, but out of the blue Newcastle were level.
With Giroud on the floor clutching his face after a clash with Yedlin, the Newcastle full-back whipped a wicked ball in for substitute Joselu to power a header past Arrizabalaga.
But an unlikely point was snatched out of Newcastle's clutches as Giroud cushioned Willian's free-kick into the path of Alonso, and his effort cannoned off Yedlin to break hearts on Tyneside.
Opta stats.
Chelsea have registered their first Premier League victory at St James' Park since December 2011 - drawing one and losing four of their previous five visits.
Chelsea haven't kept a clean sheet at St James' Park since a 3-0 victory in December 2011 - failing to keep a shutout in their last six visits.
Joselu's goal in the 83rd minute was Newcastle's first shot on target since the sixth minute and their only shot on target in the second half.
Maurizio Sarri is the fifth Chelsea manager to win his opening three Premier League games in charge of the club after Antonio Conte, Carlo Ancelotti, Guus Hiddink and Jose Mourinho.
Jorginho completed 158 passes out of a possible 173 (91.3%), 27 more than the whole Newcastle side combined (131).
Eden Hazard's goal was his 70th for Chelsea in the Premier League - overtaking Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink in third (69); only Frank Lampard (147) and Didier Drogba (104) have scored more for the Blues.
The managers.
Rafa Benitez: "The penalty was soft.
The foul was soft [for the free-kick for the winner].
It's a pity because we were very close.
We knew playing open against them, with their ability, they can beat players.
I think we did a good job, and it's a pity to lose this way.".
Maurizio Sarri: "I was surprised, I have never seen a Rafa Benitez side play with five defenders.
I think it is very difficult to play here for every team - not only us.
We were a bit unlucky when they scored to make it 1-1.".
Man of the Match - Eden Hazard.
On his first start of the season, there was no rustiness from Hazard who was exemplary throughout.
He registered three more attempts than any other player on the pitch with five efforts on goal, produced a game-high nine touches in the opposition box, completed 91 of his 101 passes and capped it all with Chelsea's opener from the spot.
What would VAR have changed?.
Quite a lot, to be honest, although had Video Assistant Referee been in use, Chelsea still would have won, albeit in less dramatic circumstances.
Schar's challenge on Alonso that handed Chelsea their penalty could have been overturned, and Joselu's equaliser could have been chalked off for a foul on Giroud, but Hazard's spot kick would have been the difference.
