Has the Indian Air Force paid more per Rafale fighter than what Prime Minister Narendra

D Modi had undertaken in Paris whilst announcing his agreement with then French president Francois

Hollande to buy 36 aircraft from the French vendor, Dassault?

On April 10, 2015, standing beside Hollande, Modi declared: 'Keeping in mind the critical

operational necessity of fighter aircraft in India, I have discussed with the president

the purchase of 36 Rafale fighters in 'fly-away condition' at the earliest through an inter-governmental

agreement.'

'We have both agreed that these would be supplied on better terms and conditions than were offered

to India in a separate procurement process.'

The 'separate procurement process' Modi referred to was an ongoing tender the IAF issued in

2007 for 126 medium multi-role combat aircraft.

In response to that tender, Rafale had submitted a commercial bid in 2008-2009, quoting a price

for 18 Rafale fighters 'in fly-away condition', and 108 fighters to be built in India.

Now the Congress party alleges that the Modi government, in buying 36 Rafales for €7.8

billion ($9.2 billion or Rs 58,000 crore/Rs 50 billion), paid more than what Dassault

had quoted in the MMRCA tender.

If that is the case, the PM's public commitment was violated.

In the absence of government figures, analysts must extrapolate from other available, if

less authoritative, sources.

Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman committed at a press conference that the Rafale bid

figures would be publicly released.

Despite my subsequent requests, no figures have been forthcoming.

A full breakdown of figures is essential because the total cost of a fighter contract includes

-- besides the cost of the aircraft -- costs related to technology transfer, spare parts,

weapons and missiles, added-on equipment and maintenance costs.

A valid comparison, on an apples-to-apples basis, requires 'non-aircraft' costs to be

isolated from the price being paid for the aircraft.

Cost of the Current Deal

Fortunately, authentic figures are available for the €7.8 billion contract, signed in

2015, for 36 Rafales.

Soon after the contract was signed, a senior political leader in the National Democratic

Alliance held an off-the-record briefing in New Delhi for several journalists, including

this correspondent.

It was divulged that the contracted price averaged out to €91.7 million (Rs 686 crore/Rs

6.86 billion) per Rafale.

This included the purchase of 28 single-seat fighters, for €91.07 million (Rs 681 crore/Rs

6.81 billion) each; and eight twin-seat fighters, each priced at €94 million (Rs 703 crore/Rs

7.03 billion).

That puts the cost of each of the 36 'bare bones' fighters at €91.7 million (Rs 686

crore) -- totalling up to €3.3 billion.

Besides this, the IAF paid €1.7 billion for 'India-specific enhancements', €700

million for weaponry such as Meteor and SCALP missiles, €1.8 billion for spare parts and

engines, and €350 million for 'performance-based logistics', to ensure that at least 75 per

cent of the Rafale fleet remains operationally available.

Catelynn Lowell's desperate cry for help, fortunately, did not go unheard as it often happens with many other people struggling with depression.

'I am taking the time I need to take good care of myself.

On November 17th I thought of every way possible to commit suicide, from wrapping a belt around my neck to running my car into an electric pole,' she explained during an interview following her similar social media post.

After dropping her at the treatment facility, Baltierra posted about how 'desolate' his life would be without Catelynn.

Hello! My name is Amy Sturkey. I'm a pediatric physical therapist. I'm here

with Myla. She is eight months old, and she is a co-instructor for me, helping me

teach exercises and activities for a child who has low tone. We're gonna work

on sit-to-stand. So I have taken her cute little feet and

trapped them underneath my thigh of the second leg. Whoop! Toes down sweet pea.

Toes down. I'm going to help her stand up as soon as she gets this back. You

got it? I'm going to lean her forward so her head goes forward. Nose over toes is what

we say and help her stand up. There you go.

That's it. I still need to sandwich her trunk for her (ooooh) ...for her to be a

able to stand. I'm holding up fairly high. A child with more control, I could hold

lower. But right now, she doesn't have that back extension strength to be able

to hold herself up. So, I'm having to be that for her. I'm using the palm of my

hand to help push her in and hold her up straight. So you can sit her down. Help

lean her forward...there you go... and stand up. Sit her down. I help lean her forward to

help her stand up Nice job, Myla! I hope that's a simple idea to work on sit into

Former FBI Director James Comey offered a cryptic message on social media Saturday,

saying the truth "cannot be long hidden" shortly after President Trump said he fired

former national security adviser Michael Flynn for lying to the FBI.

"Beautiful Long Island Sound from Westport, CT," Comey wrote in the caption of an Instagram

post.

"To paraphrase the Buddha — Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun; the moon;

and the truth."

The former FBI director, who Trump fired from his post in May, has taken to social media

in recent days in what has been viewed as an apparent reaction to developments in special

counsel Robert Mueller's probe into Russian election interference.

After Flynn pleaded guilty on Friday to lying to the FBI about his contacts with Russian

officials, Comey posted a Bible verse about justice on Twitter and Instagram.

Trump tweeted earlier Saturday that he fired Flynn for lying to the FBI, an apparent shift

from his earlier explanation that Flynn was fired for lying to Vice President Pence.

"I had to fire General Flynn because he lied to the Vice President and the FBI.

He has pled guilty to those lies," Trump tweeted.

Smittybilt Overlander XL Rooftop Tent Annex Extension & Door Mods for Cargo Trailer - Duration: 2:51.

Hey, it's Jan from Elemental Arts Tattoo, and today I'm going to be setting up this

vestibule to see how everthing works when we had it extended by a local awning shop.

When we bought the tent with the vestibule, because we have it mounted so high on our

trailer, it left quite a gap, so we ended up having extended 26 inches and you can see

how it lands here at the ground perfectly.

One of the things that I don't know if it was an issue with the awning shop and miscommunication,

but they didn't put any tabs for me to stake it out along the ground, and we're going to

have to get that sorted out wit them, but the changes were extending it, and then changing

the zippers on the door.

So then again, along with the extension, we had the door changed, because the outer door,

they way it came, you would have this U shaped pattern which when you have the thing mounted

up so high, no human would be able to get in and out of that easily.

So the straight zipper went in there, and then also, on the inside, we had another zipper

put in straight, so that we could access the door easily.

So these are just some of the changes that we had to make to this thing to make it work

on our extra tall cargo trailer.
