R: The winter holidays is a great time for parties with friends, families, and colleagues.
М: So here's our best advice on how to prepare for the celebration.
М: Looks impressive, doesn't it?
R: Here's a new video in Zach King instant-magic style, - watch it now on the Movavi channel.
Р: Let's clear up a mystery - anyone can make a video like this.
Simple montage, and a little bit of magic!
М: So how do we change your casual look to a party dress using a spinning chair?
Let's shoot the first part of our video when Maria looks at her watch and wheels away
on a chair from the table.
Let's spin Maria clockwise and remember the position in which she stops.
The second part in the party dress needs to be shot right after the first one without
changing the position of the camera, the objects in the frame or the lighting.
Now using the same technique we'll film a scene in which Anastasia retrieves a bow tie
from the white board!
Let's shoot how Roman draws the bow tie on the white board
Now film the second part with a real bow tie.
Make a sharp movement with your hands as if the bow tie has just been fixed.
M: Well...now it's just a bunch of shots...no magic
R: Don't worry, my skeptical friend, you just need to believe in miracles
M: you mean a video editing miracle?
R: Well, you need to believe in something once – especially after all this time you
found it was your uncle leaving gifts, not the real Santa.
Upload your clips to a video editing program.
We use Movavi Video Editor.
Find the place in the first video where Maria spins around the fastest, cut the clip before
this point.
Everything after this moment, we'll delete.
Now in the second video, we find the exact same moment when the chair is spinning and
cut everything before this point.
М: You get it, right?
R: We just combined two clips with the same trajectory!
М: Our brain,just like a video editor, merges the two clips together in one smooth movement.
R: This technique is called action cutting.
R: If you pay close attention, you'll spot this technique being used in many Hollywood
movies.
М: But want about the Christmas presents?
Р: We can't have a party without presents.
How can we create a conveyor belt of presents just like the elves have in their factory?
First, we need to shoot the scene where the box rolls around the table.
It doesn't matter that the box can get stuck in the pile of wrapping paper.
We just need to set the movement trajectory.
Then, without changing the position of the characters, we'll shoot the already wrapped
box rolling around the table through the cut out sheet of the wrapper.
Now go back to your video editor and place this video above the first one so they merge
at the point at which the box rolls exactly into the middle of the frame
Now use the picture-in-picture tool with a vertical division.
One extra little trick: we deliberately filmed our characters from a distance, so we could
create the effect of camera motion.
Export the two sections of clips as one video.
Then upload it again to the video editor.
Zoom in a bit and add animation to your video.
Move the video to create the effect of the camera following the presents.
Add festive music and your instructions on how to prepare yourself for the New Year party
are ready.
