Carver on those beets, sweet potatoes, and crops.
Used them to invent over 300 plant-based products.

One school denied me because I wasn't what was expected.
The color of my skin made me a target for hate,
but in 1891, first Black in Iowa State.
I studied botany.
About to invent my own fate.
On my way to be great, so I don't worry about the hate.

Scientist, botanist, chemist, I am all of this.
My inventions never patented, I'm not about that biz'.
A man above the price, above the bills, above the green.
Then I flip it like acrobats.
Made my fame with the green.
Went against the grain with the grain.
Made my green changing the screen.
That's my story.
