Hi, I'm David with Tiny Frog Technologies. I am a web developer and I'm here to
talk to you today about SSL Certificates. So you have probably been on a website
and seen in the address bar a little tiny lock or a little tiny key, might be
green, it might be red. You might also see HTTPS in front of the website address.
And all of those things mean that that website has purchased and installed an
SSL certificate. So what is an SSL certificate? An SSL certificate is a
small key that is attached to that company's domain name and the company
information. It has to be purchased and verified. And what it does is when the
information is sent to the intended recipient that key is used to unlock the
data because the data is sent in a gibberish it's encrypted so no one that
intercepts it can hack the data. You don't want anyone finding your, you know
information you send through forms or any other part of a website mid-route.
You want it to get where it's going and then be unencrypted for the intended
person. So installing an SSL certificate is very important for credit card
processing, very important for anything that uses your email or your name even,
and especially contact information because hackers love to get their hands
on any of that stuff. Over here at Tiny Frog, we install SSL certificates for
every single one of our clients that uses any kind of form on their website
and we are experts at putting them in. It can be sort of a tricky process to
tackle on your own so we do that in conjunction with a very popular hosting
company called WordPress Engine and WordPress engine is one of the best for
security. Their SSL certificates are very highly encrypted.
So if you have questions about SSL Certificates, or what they do, or why you
need one, or need help getting one installed please contact us at Tiny Frog.
