believe that cardio is your answer for weight loss? I know quite a few people

who run or do cardio just to eat whatever they want. Isn't that weird,

they just do it because they can eat whatever they want. My personal

opinion about running is not a good one even though I used to run myself a few

years ago until I injured my hip and then I start looking into something else.

It is undeniable that running has many health benefits.

Yes, running is good for your heart and lungs, for the

whole cardiovascular system, absolutely. But really and truly do we need to

run or do any cardio, killing ourselves on the treadmill? Do we need to do that to

get healthy, to get fit and lose weight at the same time? I'm Lilia Mc Naught, your

fitness and nutrition expert, the creator and owner of ditch the diet studio in

Cobourg, Ontario and in my opinion you don't need to run, you don't need to do

any crazy cardio, spending hours on the treadmill, that's just craziness in my

opinion. There is a better way to get healthier, fit and lose weight at the

same time. And today I'm going to show you three top activities that burn the

most calories then running. Let's get started.

Activity number one. If you know me you know

what is the answer, it's kettle bell swing. Yes, any kettle bell's technical move, I'm

talking about any swinging part of the kettle bell, works the big powerful muscles

around your glutes and quads and sends your heart rate into a max, absolutely max.

So kettlebell burns the highest number of calories per minute. Listen to this,

one minute of swinging can burns 15 to 25 calories per minute, that's absolutely

unbelievable, right? It's all backed up

by research. Of course, 15 to 25 calories per minute would depend on the

age, how heavy the person is and gender. And the reason for that much calorie

burn coming that kettlebell works 600 plus muscles at the same time. So, the

whole body works as a unit, that every single muscles going to work including

our facial muscles. That's pretty interesting. If you want to burn

fat, if you want to get in the best shape of your life and fast and not spending

hours of running or doing boring cardio then kettlebell is your answer. So,

number one activity is a kettle bell swing, burns 15 to 25 calories. If you

attend one of my classes which they're 60 minutes a class. Let's say, 10

minutes warm up, 10 minutes cool down, 40 minutes - a good workout. Let's multiply

40 minutes by approximately the average of 20 calories, that is 800 calories for one kettle bell classes.

Not bad! Activity number two - jumping rope: moderate intensity of rope

jumping that would be approximately hundred two hundred twenty skips per

minute which is pretty fast, so we'll burn about 13 calories a minute.

Basically jumping rope low to high intensity, you can burn from ten to

fifteen calories per minute. This type of exercise use more muscle groups than

running and challenge your balance and coordination. And builds amazing

legs. So, it's a good one too but a little bit lower on the calorie scale.

Let's look at the last activity number three - Burpees.

I love Burpees but my clients they hate them because it's a lot of work.

So, let's look at the example of one hundred eighty pound person who does Burpee he

or she will burn 1.43 calories per Burpee. If that person will do

ten burpees he or she will burn only 15 calories. That's quite a lot of

work for such a small amount of calories, don't you think?! So, as you can see

the winning prize goes to kettle bell. If you never tried swinging

muscles, tone up your tummy, lose weight, become the healthiest and happiest
