Momo Chutney

serve with momos or kotheys

dried red chillies 20g

slit open chillies

discard the seeds

vinegar 120g

allow chillies to soak

transfer to a grinder jar; reserve some of the liquid

1 large clove or 3g garlic

½ tsp salt

grind until smooth

add remaining liquid, if needed to adjust consistency

Momo Soup

this recipe makes 5 cups of soup / 1 litre of broth

pork bones 1kg (feet are best)

We're serving this soup with pork momos. You can also make beef or chicken soup to match your momo filling.

1 tbsp salt

rub bones well; salt acts as an abrasive, helping clean the bones and remove their sliminess

1 tsp vinegar; water

soak for 30 minutes and rinse thoroughly (skip up to this step for beef/chicken soup)

transfer to a pot

cover bones with hot water

simmer gently to let scum float to the top (10 minutes)

discard

cleaning bones with salt, soaking in vinegar, rinsing well, and discarding impurities—all help produce a clear broth

rinse well one last time

onions 350g, quartered

carrots 350g, 5cm chunks

2 bay leaves; 10 peppercorns

onions; carrots

1.8 litres water (at room temperature)

simmer very gently on lowest possible flame for 3 hours

don't let the stock bubble; don't cover the pot

clear, not cloudy!

strain

season with salt

spring onions

fresh pepper

North central governors endorse President Buhari for 2019

Political leaders and governors from the north central have unanimously agreed that President Muhammadu Buhari should run for presidency in 2019.

The Nation reports that the governors gave this resolution at the North Central meeting of the National Committee of Buhari Support Groups held in Abuja.

Prominent persons who made this call were Governors Samuel Ortom (Benue), Simon Lalong (Plateau), Tanko Al-Makura (Nasarawa) and Senator George Akume. The motion was moved by Akume and was seconded by Governor Lalong.

They vowed to compel President Buhari to contest insisting there was no one else that could sustain the growth being recorded.

Senator Akume listed successes recorded by the Buhari administration to include "the fight against terrorism, economic recovery, sustenance of democracy, restoration of the Nigeria's reputation in the comity of nations and Buhari's personal integrity and patriotism as justification for their call.

The senator noted that the constitution was aware that four years was too short to make significant achievement which was why there was provision for a second term.

Boss Mustapha who is the Secretary to the Government of the Federation represented Buhari at the meeting.

He said: "When you elected us into office, you did so with the conviction that our dear nation needed to be put on a new pedestal for the dreams conceived by our founding fathers, dreams that we have adopted to be realized.

"The full weight of this responsibility informed our careful, slow and steady start to the governance of Nigeria in the last 30 months.

We took a deliberate decision to take a closer look at the situation we found before setting out to implement our plans for the country's recovery.

"We are convinced of the need to establish a firm foundation upon which a united, peaceful and prosperous nation can be built by, and for, this and succeeding generations of Nigerians.

I remain very grateful to all Nigerians tor their patience and understanding as we go through the difficult steps necessary to achieve this objective.".
