[sips tea and sighs] hello!
[sounds of croaking come from my throat] What was that??? [burps]
[rhythmic beats play in sync]
Welcome friend.
I'm Victoria, but you can call me Bicky... [softly giggles] Bick-eh.
[says in ol' timey voice] I'm Victoria but you can call me Bicky! Because!
[raps?] bickylabiscuit is the name of this channel [repeats faster & rhythmically]
okay stop [softly chuckles]
Welcom to round two of Tea & Bicky!
Have you got your tea? Cos you gotcha Bicky!
[cue bed dance, bed squeaks]...Is that cute?
I've currently got a 'cinnamon orange with a twist of rooibos' tea.'
That was a mouthful! umm I want to say sorry for not being around...
But! It isn't fair for me to be judgmental of myself...
cos this year kinda just snuck up on me...
AKA my health has been taking a dive... I've been really sick...
but, I'm not here to talk about my health...
That's Chronicles [disability collab channel]! And I will link to the latest video that I made for that channel.
but, there's way too much to update you on... it's been an intense year so I kind of want to keep it light.
I'm gonna stick to the latest and most present for this hang:
how was my October?
I spent it recovering from a family trip to Sydney, and I'm not exaggerating, because
I have M.E!
So I've been watching a schwang-ton! of movies this month,
more than any other month; fantastic!
I'm actually excited, because I was thinking I could tell you about the [videos: meant to say FILM] that I watch every month.
Would you be interested in that idea?
I am, so you're just gonna have to deal with it I guess?
It's gonna be a video - I wanna do it! - I just want talk about film!
Speaking of film!
The reason why I got the energy up to make this is cos: I just went to see Thor: Ragnarok
[softly giggles]
Because I've just seen it, I'm still processing - you know what I mean? -
it always takes me like a whole day to process a movie, especially if I've seen it in the cinema.
You're all enveloped in this dark room, and so afterwards when you come out I always feel like
- especially if I've enjoyed the movie, which I did! -
I always feel like I've been birthed [giggles at self]
So... my initial thoughts: [sighs] it was dang good! That's all I'm gonna say.
[high pitched voice] Taika! Yes. YES.
You don't even understand, Taika!? I have loved him since I first saw 'Boy.'
He's come such a long way and I'm so...[whispers] proud.
Yeah I enjoyed it so much, that I got like this surge! of energy.
And then I was like, I have to make a video! make Taika proud!
So yeah, you can thank Thor for this!
The cinema is my favourite place.
It's just always a comforting place, where I can just be embraced by the dark abyss
and enveloped in... the sweet....
I was also part of an exhibition in October! Huh!
It was organised by a collective, that wanted to host artists with invisible disabilities.
And my sister and I were a part of that.
Unfortunately, I was unable to make the opening night and to meet most of the other artists,
but I was able to go later on, when there was like way less people.
it was just, mmm!
I'm actually gonna put together a video about it,
because I really want to share this with you!
that's the thing I'm doing and have done!
Finally! Obviously October means spooky season.
And hence, because this is the kind of person that I am - I'm 'the recommender' friend -
So, I have been brewing some recommendations for you.
I share this thoughtfully.
#1 recommendation, every single time! Over the Garden Wall: all-time favourite!
Cartoon Network's first miniseries [smacks lips] mwah mwah mwah!
it's been said to be the smol version of Dantes Inferno.
It's musical, ol' timey, it's got jokes,
it's got like 90s nostalgia!
It's got everything! that one would need if one were inclined to like morbid but cute things.
There's just some quick words to whhet the appetite.
#2 Then, a YouTube channel: Ask a Mortician.
Quality content!
about: I mean what did you expect? death and corpses... just all of that.
So you know, if you're like me and you're just a really curious person,
go and enjoy!
And lastly! Movies.
Three categories: beginner, intermediate and... I guess special taste?
FIRST. For the beginners: Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956).
It's an easy horror classic.
It's more creepy, in plot way [plot wise], like it is literally what it sounds like.
And it's just done so well.
Even if you don't like horror,
even if you're just a little bit interested in really intriguing storylines;
that's for you.
SECOND: The Descent. This movie will be a classic.
It was made in 2009 - super underrated -
this would probably be the first movie that I'd recommend to anybody who wants to explore horror.
it's an all-women cast.
It's claustrophobic, cos it starts off as a survival movie - cave-driving exploration gone wrong - basically.
If you like survival movies, but you kind of want to go outside of your comfort zone,
into something that's more horror I would start with this one.
THIRD: Martyrs (2008).
This is for those of you who are horror enthusiasts.
It's a foreign horror: French-Canadian.
It's a lil controversial, you kind of love it or you hate it, type of movie.
It's gore heavy.
It's been called torture porn... So that gives you an idea.
Be warned.
it's definitely one of the most affecting horror movies I've seen.
I had a very strong reaction to it. I couldn't tell if I loved or I hated it
and it stayed with me for quite a while.
Now I actually realise that I loved it...It's so weird.
Eeeee! [if you can't hack Martyrs watch Creep]
Fly my pretties! Away to your screens to see these movies if you wanna.
That's all? that's all, that's all!
How are you?
Tell me how you are, tell me how your October's been!
Sssyes yessss.
This has been Tea & Bicky [clicks tongue]!
Till next time - hopefully soon - I'm Victoria, but you can call me Bicky,
and this is how the cookie crumbles today. Mmm-hmm.
By the way, my sister made this hat, if you wanted to know, I know you did.
I hope that you know [badge says: You are Loved]
