What is Yoga? The asanas vs british military calisthenics.
hi guys welcome to becoming a better you by skeed and the power of consciousness
series from meditation to magic and beyond today we're going to talk about
just a little bit stretching yoga pill artist etc if
you're interested in this keep watching
yoga most people by now have been to a yoga class right you know they're all in
a group on the mat move move move move move movement however what most people
do not understand with that type of yoga what it is they think they are
practicing a very very ancient technique when they do that and this just is not
the case you have to understand by the time everything you learn everything you
read everything you do you have to understand when things were done so for
example there are lots of books on magic that talk they're sort of very
religiously orientate especially if you look at the Western there's a lot to do
with Christianity in those books even if they're not talking about Christianity
and say that but it's there because they had to put that in for a book to be
accepted in the time it was written because in those times Christianity was
very strong and if it wasn't referred to that then no one probably would have
published it and no one would have read it so with yoga
okay Pilates is taken from yoga right it's slightly more working individual
muscles the muscle groups etc stretching is sort of warming up but it's also very
close to yoga but what we have in the West as yoga came from India right but
when did it come from India it was brought over
in basically the nine the 20th century yeah so 1900s such transcendental
meditation you know came over with the Beatles
Yahoo came over sort of around about the same time NASA there were people who
practiced yoga but it wasn't in the West but it wasn't widespread before that
when it came out of India in that time where was India well India had been
under British occupation for a long time and there was something that the British
the British always took to India was military calisthenics that is how they
kept their soldiers fit in those days and what was that yes it was the
bodyweight exercises going down going up and up down stretching star jumps etc
and what happened was that got combined what they did they went they went with
their British calisthenics military calisthenics and they saw this yoga and
her like you some of these postures are great right we're gonna steal some and
we're gonna put it into our practice of course obviously as they were
controlling the education and everything in schools etc basically the two became
mixed and so what is practice is yoga the typical yoga class that you go and
you move and you stretch Monroe differ lots of different postures that is
actually not an ancient yoga technique that is actually a fairly modern British
military calisthenics yes you're doing calisthenics sorry to tell you with some
yoga postures involved so what is yoga well Yoga is the postures in itself and
if you go to India and you go up to the Himalayas and you watch Yogi's
practicing yoga now they might do some of this because obviously this is also
installed within India the British occupied in
here for a long time and so it became modern practice to do this too but if
you got to those caves and you see what they do they might do some of this to
warm up their body it makes sense to warm up your body before you do your
proper practice but the proper practice of yoga was getting into a posture one
posture and then learning to control the mind and the body through the posture
which means for example you take a warrior pose and you have to hold that
pose for let's say 20 minutes now in the West most people aren't gonna be able to
hold the warrior pose for 20 minutes even the ones that do yoga a lot there's
just no way they're gonna do it because they're not doing yoga as the ancient
pre British military occupation of India they're not doing it but if you watch
these guys that's what they do so what is the purpose of doing that well if
you're in warrior pose that's a ittle hero pose or whichever pose it is let's
say most people in the West they can hold that pose for 10 seconds 30 seconds
maybe a minute or two and then they start to get aches and pains and their
muscles and their tendons and no well that is where the mind starts to come in
because you use the mind to control the body through concentration through
sensory withdrawal to not feel the aches and pains and strains of the posture and
when you can learn to do that let's say no we're not gonna go Himalaya okay
extreme where they hold the postures for hours on it let's say you can do a
posture and you build it up for 20 minutes
that means total mental and body control so if during those 20 mins you're just
managing to hold it you're not that you have to be able to
hold it and this does take time to build up obviously the strength and the
flexibility to be able to do it because you have to be able to hold the warrior
pose for 20 minutes you're gonna have to have some fairly strong and flexible
muscles and that's one of the easy poses but to be able to stand in warrior pose
for 20 minutes and not feel any stress on the body any strain on the body and
if you do start to feel it whilst you're building up that stress to hold it in
your mind overpowers your body to ignore it and pass that pain away by using your
breath because the breathing will help the oxygen flow it will help the
concentration especially with what we're talking about in the course with the
breathing in the Parana and sending the prana to give them more literally energy
not the cellular energy that is yoga and so let's say you do a practice of yoga
for an hour so let's say you do a little bit of British calisthenics which you
can call the Sun Salutation or a slow-motion Burpee yeah they're the same
thing one's just faster than the other to warm up to get your body a little bit
flexible to get the muscles one and then you go into a pose so within an hour
let's say you spend ten minutes warming up that gives you 50 minutes so
therefore let's say five postures so each posture you have to hold for ten
minutes now you're not going to be able to do this at the beginning most people
are going to be able to do it you're gonna be very fit and very strong to do
this but that is what you're aiming to do so let's say five postures for ten
minutes each or yeah two or three postures for 15 20 25 minutes each and
when you can do that you have the mental control to control
the senses this is what the ancient books and texts of yoga are talking
about why am I saying all this because I said in a previous video that you know
doing some stretching or one one type of yoga that's called yin yoga this is a
very good way to get into this type of practice because you know ghee is all
about holding that posture for a long time but they start with very easy poses
where you're sitting on the floor and it's literally just stretching over
muscle strength so go check that out there there there's not a huge amount on
YouTube yet but there's there's quite a few videos of yin yoga so do a search
for yin yoga and start there if you want but at the end of the day it's about the
mental control so just as the exercises we're doing so far through the course is
learning control through imagination control this is a very very physical
level of control but it's also a very mental level control it's a it's the
whole point of the yoga practice is to control the body and the mind together
so start this practice you may want to start doing regular yoga because you
can't how are you regular Western British military yoga because you can't
hold the postures longer than five or ten seconds that's absolutely fine to
start with that's brilliant you know it's a good way to stop but the whole
idea is to go slower and slower and slow and control the mind and control the
sensations and the feelings the stress is the strain the pain etc and not feel
it sensory withdrawal so start the yoga
practice and you can call it stretching if you want you know learn to do the
splits how'd you learn to see the splits will you do the splits and your whole
display it's four five minutes ten minutes and bit by bit you can go
further further that technically is a yoga pose
you know but you can start simply with you know Western gymnastic stretches to
get to the splits so it's stretching its yoga Pilates is another step back to the
west from the British military calisthenics micro movement so you can
do that too for strength and Pilatus will be very good to help you build the
strength for very purposeful muscles to be able to do the yoga poses so I also
recommend you start a little bit of Pilatus mind-body control that is what
yoga the hatha yoga is about the Raja Yoga is about stop that practice it
doesn't have to be an hour a day because with all these things I know I'm doing
these practices too I know exactly how long they take and it does take up a lot
of time and you do have to say well I have to give up certain trivial things
that I do or for example do you know doing yoga stretch you can if you want
to sit there in the evening watching a yoga youtube video or watching the TV
doing the stretch and controlling the mind over the top of all the background
stuff to not feel the stress and the strain in the pain no it's not
necessarily a bad way to do it because it's just adds an extra layer on top to
have to concentrate and you could also say well it's almost you know I watch a
great movie that I love doing this and so it's almost similar to a beating of a
drum or a mantra to sort of trick your mind into getting you to where you want
to go so that's fine to start it the whole idea is to be able to hold those
poses open the flexibility stretching strength builder
through yoga practice the hatha yoga practice okay I hope that is useful I
hope that's been informative I hope you now understand that what they do in most
yoga studios is not in fact actual ancient techniques it's a combination of
some quite modern techniques with the ancient techniques I hope you start
practicing it obviously again you can also combine this is important so the
people really click so we're gonna miss this bit I'm doing this on purpose now
not telling you I'm putting stuff at the end some of the important information
but I'm putting it here you know to help to encourage you to watch all the
information the other thing you can do because these things do take time let's
say okay I'm gonna sit I'm going to start my yoga practice for 20 minutes
once you can hold that position you can then at the same time when you're
starting to dominate those paintings you can do a contemplation exercise you can
do an image for example the video where I say get five things look at them close
your eyes and hold the thought for as long as it possible you can do that
at the same time so before you start let's say you're doing in the living
room in your living room you get five objects whatever they are grab five
objects around put their friends of you get into your posture and then you can
almost distract your body because you're concentrating on the objects looking at
it closing your eyes trying to get it open look at the next object close it
try to hold as long as possible and it's also another form of visual mantra to
distract yourself yeah that's a very good one
so I do understand this this does take commitment but all these things are very
very useful whether were you interested in magic or not just to be able to you
know stage one of the matrix breaking out of the matrix
okay stage one is realizing what's going on you know really
the you know this style was Empire that's what we live in whose the Empire
well have a think about it is pretty obvious if you've watched any of
conspiracy theory you know and I'm now I'm not talking about the Illuminati but
there is an empire and we're all controlled by the Empire living in it
it's not all pretty in the good ones win yeah so I've lost my train of thought
sorry yes so get into that yoga practice use the other exercises at the same time
commit whether you want to go all the way through to the magic and beyond or
whether it's just the meditation this is meditation yoga poses are meditation not
just sitting in a lotus not just sitting cross-legged is standing in a warrior
pose meditating you can get when your muscles are strong enough to those deep
levels ok that's it click the thumbs up button subscribe to the channel share
this video especially with people that do yoga they're not gonna like it
and I'll see you in another video
