 Guardiola's men stormed to the Premier League title last season, with City breaking the 100-point barrier for the first time ever

 Manchester United finished a staggering 19 points behind their cross-city rivals as Jose Mourinho missed out on silverware

 Mourinho's struggles last season were well documented, especially his bust-ups with Paul Pogba, who failed to find form under the Special One

 The United boss and his £89m star man fell out over the team's tactics, as well as Pogba's preferred position on the left of a midfield three

 And Lescott, who works with City's loan players, says Guardiola's ability to get the most out of players is the difference between the two managers

 "I wouldn't say held him [Pogba] back but kind of not got the best out of the individuals at the right times," Lescott exclusively told Express Sport while speaking at the Premier League and BT Disability Football Festival at City's Etihad Campus

 "The epitome of that is Pep, having to the best out of the City players and that's why they won the league

 "At the start of last season, if you compared them player for player, there wasn't much difference in it

 "They're all top quality players, but for whatever reason over the course of the season, Pep managed to get the best out of his players more often than not

" Pogba had a sensational summer, with the midfielder impressing in Russia as France won the World Cup

 The 25-year-old scored in the final against Croatia as France ran out 4-2 winners

 Pogba has shown glimpses of class during his return to United, however, the former Juventus star has struggled to impress consistently

 And Lescott says Pogba will be determined to prove his worth this season after his World Cup heroics in Russia

 When asked if Pogba will step up and shine this year, Lescott said: "I hope so in regards to football but not for Man City! "Pogba's an exceptional talent

I enjoy watching him. He plays with a swagger and an arrogance that he believes he's one of the best and so he should

 "I think it's down to his manager, he performed well for France. He had times last season where he didn't hit the heights he wanted to individually

 "I'm sure he'll be coming back with the upmost confidence having won the World Cup and played a very important role in doing that

 "He'll be ready for this season, not to prove to anyone because he doesn't have to, but to just showcase his ability

" Mourinho and Guardiola worked together at Barcelona between 1996 and 2000, where the United boss was a coach and the City manager was a player

 Their rivalry progressed when the pair managed Real Madrid and Barcelona, with Mourinho and Guardiola desperate to get one over their counterpart

 The Special One is well known for changing his tactics depending on the opponent, with Mourinho often criticised for being defensive

 Guardiola, on the other hand, has developed a free-flowing style at City, an adaption of the football played during his time at Barcelona

 And Lescott says Guardiola will never copy Mourinho's approach, claiming the City boss only knows how to play his way

 "I wouldn't say [Mourinho has met his match] due to the fact that Pep plays the same way," Lescott added

 "If you look at Mourinho, he's very astute at how he goes about his business in regards to how he approaches games

He has a way of thinking about which styles will beat certain teams, he adapts his approach week by week

 "Pep has his own way and his own philosophy - and he'll only try that way. It wasn't to be in his first season but last year it was possibly the best football we've seen in the Premier League

 "Going forward, it's up to other teams to beat City because I'm sure that Pep won't change his style of play

" Joleon Lescott was speaking at the Premier League and BT Disability Football Festival

Over 180 young people who participate in Club disability sports sessions, funded by the Premier League and BT, attended the event at Manchester City's Etihad Campus

 The initiative aims to create opportunities and inspire disabled people through sport, with 23,437 participants engaged since the programme launched in September 2016
