The Christian Life is a Life of Joy AND Suffering - Duration: 4:28.

Hey, I'm Fr. Mark Mary! — And I'm Fr. Angelus.

We are the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal and this is Ascension Presents.

Fr. Angelus, welcome back. —Thank you.

Good to have you back as always.

We are going to talk about bubbles... and the cross.

Fr. Angelus, make sense of that for us.

— Fr. Mark Mary and I had the opportunity to study Spanish in Guatemala

[this] past summer, and let's just be very honest.

HE studied Spanish, I tried but it just didn't really work out very well.

One of my favorite experiences is, as you know, we got a chance

to visit a hospital with kids with special needs and it was really beautiful and powerful.

Actually, Franciscans ran that hospital down there, so we got a tour one day.

And as we were going on the tour

there was this group of kids playing out in the courtyard

and there's one little kid in a wheelchair off by himself

and he was blowing bubbles.

And I thought — instantly thought to myself, "All right, this is my guy."

So I went over and blowed bubbles with him,

and we were having a lot of fun blowing bubbles and enjoying life.

And he was giggling the whole time.

Again, like, the joyfulness and the playfulness of this kid

who probably suffered a lot,

especially being in the situation he was in; he was probably an orphan,

probably dropped off by his parents when he was younger,

and so regardless of what was going on in his life, here he is,

having the time of his life, it seemed, with bubbles.

And at some point I realized that I needed to go,

but that this was such a gift, again, for me.

And as I got up to walk away, this little boy started to swing his arms in his wheelchair.

And I didn't know exactly what he was doing.

I thought maybe he was playing or something like that, or maybe he was waving to me.

But as he started to swing his arms he actually reached out and grabbed my rosary

and he pulled it close and he kissed it...

and he kissed the cross on my rosary.

And for that, there was like, a moment of revelation, Father, for me.

The Christian life — this interrelationship between the joy of life, and the struggle and the suffering of life.

And this kid in Guatemala who suffers so much,

he has this balance of the Christian life in mind.

That he suffers a lot and that's the cross — he embraced the cross,

he didn't just look at it, he kissed it, he embraced it.

But then he experiences the joy... of bubbles, the joy of playing,

the joy of life there.

So it was like this intersection in this little boy —

to experience the truth of the Christian life, keeping this in balance.

— Yeah, and it's this Christian paradox;

and a lot of people find it hard to believe or accept or to live from.

Because we want the light-heartedness, the fun, the sort of lack of concern of bubble blowing,

and we want just to sort of have a good time.

And we think, somehow, that that's mutually exclusive

from the embracing and the kissing of the cross.

But the paradox of of the Christian life which this young man manifests,

and which I think we've experienced in our own life,

that somehow on this earth, for Christians,

these can coexist at the same time.

We can have sort of the playfulness, the confidence,

just to, sort of, blow bubbles,

knowing that we're, you know, we're loved by the Father, he has a plan for our life, he's with us.

And at the same time we can kiss and embrace the cross because

we have this eternal hope, this eternal perspective.

My brothers and sisters, let's go ahead and look at this truth in our own lives.

Have we seen ways in which we can be experiencing the cross, and like, a real cross,

but at the same time, a sort of light- heartedness and joyfulness and a playfulness

because we know that God the Father is with us and has a plan —

an eternal plan — for our lives.

We thank you so much for watching,

go ahead and give us an 'Amen' for God's goodness.

Use that button we've made the 'Amen' button.

If you want to let us know the ways you've experienced

the cross and the bubble blowing in your own life, use the comments.

And as always feel free to subscribe so that you don't miss any of these videos.

Fr. Angelus, pop quiz. Spanish time! What's the sign off?

— Adios? Oh! Poco e poco. [Laughter]

Somos peregrinos. — Somos peregrinos.

Poco a poco — Poco a poco

Vamos a llegar -Vamos a llegar

Bye bye!

IS WHAT'S INSIDE THIS BOX ADVERTISER SAFE?!??!?! - Duration: 6:52.

[Music]

I've been waiting days for this thing.

It came!

It came!

Oh, if you don't know what this is, I went to Bad Dragon with a friend of mine this past

weekend, and it was really awesome, really awesome experience.

They put us in a hotel, they had us tour their facility, showed us how they made everything.

It was REALLY cool!

But, I can't talk too much about that because of like non-disclosure agreement, but what

I can do is show you all the goodies that they gave us.

They basically told us that we can have whatever and as many of... we want, basically, of their

merchandise and stuff they have.

So, my friend and I kinda... went loose a little bit.

So, let's get...

Let's open this!

I brought the perfect tool for the job.

Ah!

There we go.

Big blade for big toys...

Big boxes too.

Well, I guess... uh... still need to dig.

So... get this thing out of the way, and...

Oh!

Yay!

First thing... plushie.

I also got Chance, the horse guy...

Horse thingy...

Okay...

Got this LOVELY beach towel right here with the...

I dunno if you can see it, but... might be upside down.

The Bad Dragon logo.

Pretty cool.

We got a bunch of shirts.

We got a Bad Dragon coloring book, with porn and everything!

What is this?

Oh!

That's what that is.

It's a tankard.

They're... uh...

Uh....

Paws, work with me, come on!

Uh, well, I'll just put that over there for now.

Oh yeah, and a uh... one of those tall shot glasses, if that makes any sense.

Oh...

Ah, yes!

I asked them if I could have some cum lube, and I forgot to grab some.

I'm glad that they remembered, so, yay!

Ooo... now we get to the fun part! *chuckles*

So, we got this one.

In here, I have a slug, a... uh...

A D-20 die, and... uh... a handful of teenie weenies.

So there's that...

So there's that... and then, we have some dick, fairy lights.

All the... all of the lights are in the shape of the different Bad Dragon toys.

So, that's gonna be a good addition to my room, I think.

And then, we have...

Aha!

We have a fire hydrant!

From one of their April Fools things.

Same with the D-20 and the slug.

So this one, I got for my boyfriend.

It's a... uh...

It's a Duke Muzzle, and it's marbled black and white.

And, I think that this looks really cool, actually.

I dunno if you can see it, but I'll get some close-ups for you.

And then, this is also a pretty cool thing, I think.

I think it's called "Diego," the... the Dire Wolf.

And, they were doing the... uh... trying the... color technique out, called "Arora," and it

looks REALLY cool, but because it's so complex, they can't practically sell it.

But, they... they do have some that they tested to make it, and here's an example of one of them

Probably can't see it that well right now, but it looks amazing.

And I'll get some more close-ups later.

That looks so cool!

I think that's it...

Oh!

Wait!

I do have one more thing.

Something to put everything inside.

They gave us a duffel bag!

So we can put everything in and keep it in one place.

So, that was awesome!

I think...

I think I'm gonna start unwrapping everything, and, like, set it up and take pictures.

So, catch you later!

Bye!

Obesity is a Progressive Disease - Duration: 2:24.

The CDC says that a third of Americans are obese.

That's correct a third of the United States of the population is obese.

What does it take to be obese what is your definition of obesity?

It's usually a progressive disease it's hampering the person from

childhood all the way to adulthood one of the things that we see with obesity

its genetic we see it in families the other thing that we see with obesity

it's costly and it's a hundred and forty seven billion dollars of the US

healthcare dollar goes to treating obesity to obesity related diseases it's

a progressive disease like I said the other thing that that we see with with

obesity is that it's a accumulation of fat within the body usually in the mid

portion of the abdomen and inside the organs and it's not necessarily the fat

intake usually the carbohydrate intake but it's usually that's what it is an

accumulation of fat and what's going on with that fat it's affecting the health of the patient

A lot of times we go by that number on the scale but there

are more components to it than just that we're talking about your BMI your body

mass index so doctor what is the BMI and how do you calculate it?

So the BMI is a way to measure if somebody is going to qualify for the surgery and really what

it does it takes the patient's weight their way out their weight and also

their height into account and it puts it into a formula and when you get

that for me to get the what's called the body mass index and that's an objective

way that a physician can look at the patient look at their height and weight

and tell whether they're gonna qualify for the surgery.

So what is it so overweight twenty five to twenty nine point nine does that mean 25 percent of you is fat

No that doesn't necessarily mean that at all what that's

referring to the body mass index so in the United States when they've looked at

life insurance policies and and that kind of thing and metrics what they're

saying is that the person who has a BMI between 25 and 29 when you take

I'm way into account that person is going to be overweight a large

population of the United States is overweight.

WATCH: Sarah Sanders Won't Say Press Is Not Enemy of the People | Heavy.com - Duration: 4:57.

WATCH: Sarah Sanders Won't Say Press Is Not Enemy of the People | Heavy.com

Press Secretary Sarah Sanders refused to answer whether the press was "the enemy of the people" on Thursday afternoon.

On Thursday afternoon during a White House briefing, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders refused to respond when reporters asked if "the press was the enemy of the people.

According to Aaron Blake, senior political reporter for The Washington Post, Sanders was asked three separate times by CNN's Jim Acosta if she thought the press was the enemy of the people, and she declined to answer all three times.

Sanders said, "The President has made his position known…it's ironic, Jim, that not only you and the media attack the President for his rhetoric, when they frequently lower the level of conversation in this country.

Repeatedly, repeatedly, the media resorts to personal attacks without any content other than to incite anger.

The media has attacked me personally, on a number of occasions, including your own network.

[They] said I should be harassed as a life sentence, I should be choked…when I was hosted by the Correspondents' Association, of which almost all of you are members, you brought a comedian up to attack my appearance and call me a traitor to my own gender.".

At this point, several reporters began to speak, but Sanders continued.

"In fact, as far as I know, I'm the first Press Secretary…that's required Secret Service protection.

The media continues to ratchet up the verbal assault of the president and everyone in this administration.

And certainly we have a role to play, but the media has a role to play for the discourse in this country, as well.".

Acosta continued, "For the sake of this room, this democracy, this country, all the people around the world are watching what you're saying, Sarah, and the White House, the President of the United States should not acknowledge us as the enemy of the people, his own daughter acknowledges that, and all I'm asking you to do, Sarah, is to acknowledge that right now and right here.

Sanders replied, "I appreciate your passion.

I share it. I've addressed this question.

I've addressed my personal feelings.

I'm here to speak on behalf of the President, and he's made his comments clear.".

Acosta tweeted soon after, "I walked out of the end of that briefing because I am totally saddened by what just happened.

Sarah Sanders was repeatedly given a chance to say the press is not the enemy and she wouldn't do it.

Shameful.".

Trump's attack of the media in general as a system of "fake news" has been one of his most frequent rallying cries.

Acosta is correct that Ivanka Trump has tried to correct her father's statement.

On Thursday, a few hours before Sanders' press conference, Ivanka Trump was asked a similar question about whether she agreed with her father's description of the press.

Via The New York Times, Ivanka Trump said, "No, I don't.

She continued, "I've certainly received my fair share of reporting on me personally that I know not to be fully accurate.

So … I have some sensitivity around why people have concerns and gripe, especially when they sort of feel targeted.

But no, I do not feel that the media is the enemy of the people.".
