How to Insert Invisible/lapped zip to a shirt||Sewing Class for beginners Day 4||Stitching MadeEasy - Duration: 12:14.
Hello everyone!Welcome back to Stitching MadeEasy
It's the 4th day of Sewing class for beginners.
And we're teaching you the basic tutorial of installing a zipper to the back side of shirt.
There are two ways to install a zipper but in this video we'll teach you the basic, most popular method.
Let's start the tutorial.
First of all take your measurements from shoulder and arm hole.
I'll mark here at 7" plus half inch for allowance
And 7" from here as well
Mark as shown in the video and give it a half circular shape
Now cut through the round corner.
Cut half inch from here
It's the back side of neck
I'll measure and mark at 3"
3" from here as well.
Cut according the mark
We're gonna work on the right side of garment
And I've already cut a slit right in the middle of the shirt
Length of this slit is 14 inches
which equals to the zipper size
This patch is to support the zipper
which is 4" wide
And should be 2 inches longer than the slit of the garment
Cut right in the middle of this placket (or patch)
Fold this over
And sew the seam
Fold and seam again as shown
Now we're gonna attach this placket along the slit of the shirt
Fold this part and press using an iron or you can also make basting stitches(temporary stitches to hold the fabric in place)
I'm gonna use the basting stitch method
Tuck the zipper behind the garment placing folded side of the fabric right next to the teeth of the zipper
Stitch right next to the fold line be careful not to go over it
Stitching all the way down until you get to the end mark, when you get there
Zip it up and turn the fabric
Now we're gonna form the lap
that covers the zipper teeth completely
We stitched the right side on the edges but here we'll leave half an inch
Join both edges keeping the zipper closed so you will get the perfect lap
When you get to the end mark zip it back
and stitch to the end
Now remove the basting stitches
It's done!
Easy way of installing a lapped or invisible zipper
We'll teach you all the stitching methods in our upcoming videos.
That's it for now.

An Experience So Great, You'll Come Back for More | New Owner's Night | Greater Vancouver, BC - Duration: 0:33.
I had no intention to buy a vehicle that day
yeah, isn't that what a lot of people say
and it's true!
I had no intention, I thought I'd come and see
because I was liking the 0%
and I spoke to Doug, really nice guy from sales
and I went home with a vehicle right out of the showroom.
He took it out of the showroom for me and I drove it home
and I was in and out of here within 45 minutes
I got a fantastic deal
Fantastic, I was just talking to my sister about orientation
and she's interested in trading in her Jeep for one.
So we might be back for a second!
