Yo guys, today I'm meeting my buddy who's great with photography...just a great guy.

Haven't seen him in a while so I'm excited.

Maybe you're wondering why the footage is looking so smooth?

Well, I'm testing this new stabilizer ..whoo damn!

So this is my buddy Fons. Today we'll do some shooting with his camera.

[Great] And there's more and I'll explain why.

I made him buy a €6000,- camera...not telling you which one it is ..not yet.

..but you'll see it soon. Such a great camera.

Yeah, what's the plan. I think hitting the city ..some architecture ...just enjoy.

..and lot's of talking! We're already talking for like 45 minutes now. So time to go.

Hey, let's get some coffee....it's a ...yeah it's time.

In the meantime we can shoot some stuff, but it's really time for that coffee.

So this is it, the 1DXII!

Before I already sold you the 7D II right? [yes, that's right]

Look, this guy here calls himself an amateur ..right?

[yes, amateur ..hobby] Okay hobby / amateur.

But when you look at his gear a pro would be jealous.

And what lenses do you have?

So they get an idea of what gear you have.

[I have the 100mm f2.8..]

You got the 16-35mm mounted on the camera now [yes for landscapes..cities...]

So nice ..this is the mark? [the first one, the F4] Ow yeah the f4 indeed. duhh..

And then you also have a really big guy.

[I got the 400mm f2.8 mark II..that's a beast of a lens]

Really a cannon of a lens! [yes, just awesome]

And you also got the 100-400mm right? [yes, the 100-400mm mark II that is]

[So I haven't got...] You didn't go for the cheaper/ affortable stuff.

And what it comes to is that he had the seversed situation... [ hahaha]

He has awesome lenses so that why when he came to me we just had to look into this camera.

And I even suggested to go for this camera. Because I know what you already has.

When you look at your gear you just have to fully take advantage of the offered quality.

So you have to level your camera and lenses with each other.

[yes, yes]

Yeah, and then you have this great configuration.

Ahhh...yeah....

The pleasure never seems to fade away...

Of course with a video like this I have a underlying message ..purpose.

Fons here has an 1DX mark II, top of the bill

It's also the camera you see more and more on social media, lots of YouTubers use this one.

And I want to ask if it's really necessary..

So...Fons you do a lot of bird photography right? [ yes... bird and also macro photography]

Okay, so I'm asking you "Do you really need it?

[well it's also possible with a lot less. I also got the 7DII, great camera, really nice..

[But I have set the bar at a really high level, as you know ..so that's way I bought the 1DX mark II..]

[..really a super camera, but not really required.]

okay...

..And do you have any reasons not to go for this 1DXII?

[Well you have to save quite some money to be able to buy this camera..and the 7DII is just as fast and with good quality.]

Yes, okay...

So you're saying that you can easily work just as good with a lesser one, like the 7DII..

..not that it's a bad one, it's really a good camera too. [yes, indeed]

So it is not required to only use a fullframe beast. [yes]

Only you choose to go for the max because you're so critical.. [yes]

..he worked with all those cameras and therefore knows what he's talking about..

..and can see the difference between these cameras. [yes I can]

You have high expectations.. [yes I have]

[ ..my expectations have really increased the last year]

Well guys! I have enjoyed this day ...did some playing with this great camera and shot nice footage.

So this is the message, don't necessary need top of the bill gear.

I kinda see a trend of using this kind of gear ..but it's not always needed.

You'll only need it when you know what you miss with the other cameras out there.

Also take a good look at your lenses... You know what guys.

You musn't be quided by the gear ...be aware of what you really need and the budget you have to spend.

Cameras are expensive, so if you have a small budget go for a cheaper camera and use what's left for a nice lens.

..or nice accessories. [yes indeed]

And Fons here did exactly that, so that's why I invited him for a nice chat for this video.
