Steps sign up for SM:TV 20th anniversary revival with Ant and Dec|K CHANNEL - Duration: 1:56.Steps sign up for SM:TV 20th anniversary revival with Ant and Dec
Next year marks the 20th anniversary of the Saturday morning pop extravaganza that made household names of Ant & Dec. Ian 'H' Watkins told me: "We have to do SM:TV, they asked us.
We were probably on that show more than any other band so it makes sense." Earlier this year ITV confirmed the show would be returning but withheld a date while Ant McPartlin entered rehab.
Now he's back on our screens, it's full steam ahead and Steps can't wait. .
"We were probably on that show more than any other band" Ian H Watkins Claire Richards told me: "I hope they bring back Cat The Dog, Wonky Donkey, all that stuff.
"I remember we were on SM:TV the morning after the BRITs, the one year they had it on a Friday.
"I got to bed at six o' clock in the morning and went on suffering wearing Deeper Shade Of Blue shoulder pads." Lisa Scott-Lee later became a host of the show and they hope more old pop acts will come back.
Claire added: "Aqua are back, one of the first things we went to was the Barbie Girl launch and being drunk on wine." .
Faye Tozer added: "We went to Billie Piper's 16th birthday party and that was the day I got my dreads done.
I walked in and everybody went, 'What the f***!' "Or the Spice Girls being outside the make-up room and Victoria saying, 'Oi are you Steps?' They were fun times." The Steps tour has been a huge success and the fivesome are relieved they concentrated on the music this time.
Claire added: "We talked about a similar TV show to Let It Shine when we first reunited. But people love us for what we are – the album and tour, that's enough.".
