Waching daily May 15 2017

hi it's Tracy and welcome back to my

channel and today I want to talk to you

about a superfood that you need to start

incorporated into your healthy life and

healthy lifestyle so if you're new to my

channel Hello, I'm Tracy and I

put out brand new fitness wellness and

lifestyle videos every single week so make

sure that you subscribe to my channel so

you never miss a video

also for everyone make sure that you

click on the little bell icon that's

going to give you notification so that

you'll know absolutely every time that I

load a brand new video so let's talk

about this superfood. The superfood that

I want to talk to you about today is

spirulina. spirulina is absolutely amazing

I started incorporating it a few months

ago into my life and my lifestyle and I

really see and feel the benefit so you

might be asking what the heck is spirulia.

let me break it down for you

spirulina is actually pond scum essentially

okay it's really just blue-green algae

so when you're looking for a spirulina

to purchase you want to this is really

really important make sure that you

purchase a super high quality brand why

because unfortunately as we all know the

waters are polluted and so you want to

make sure that it's not contaminated

okay so I found that the best sources

are actually Hawaiian brands of

spirulina and I'll leave a couple of

brands that I like in the description

down below so let's talk about the

benefits there's four major benefits

that I know are going to knock your

socks off

number one it boosts your energy every

single busy babe that I know wants to

get more energy and if you're looking

for a nice healthy way to get energy you

know not in the form of caffeine or God

knows what else

spirulina really fits the bill okay

here's why it gives you energy is absolutely

loaded with vitamins, minerals

antioxidants iron and calcium so all of

that working together in your system is

going to help to give you a really nice

balance energy boost never feel

shaky or crazy when Im taking spirulina, which is awesome

is off okay number two if it can help to

speed up your weight loss so I know

every babe watching this videos like

I've got your ears right on the reason why it

works is because it's so nutrient dense

now I work with women all over the world

and one of the things that women often

complain to me about before we start

working together are cravings. Cravings

can come from two places

number one emotional right your stretch

or angry and lonely you're tired and we

start looking for food or number two

that your body actually isn't getting

the nutrients that it needs and because

spirulina is so nutrient dense it can

actually help to have those cravings

subside sounds pretty awesome right and

third reason why spirulina is awesome

and such a great superfood is because

it's so high in protein now it's

completely vegan so if you're vegetarian

or vegan is a great complete source of

protein so that also can help with your

weight and your waistline because when

your body is eating and digesting more

protein you've got protein rich diet

what happens is you you increase your

lean muscle mass which then makes those

muscles in all those work without all

the workouts and work that you're doing

actually show it's a great great thing

and the fourth benefit of spirulina is

that it's a really high source of

omega-3 fatty acids and also GLA now GLA

is really really important because it

helps to regulate your blood sugar and

your insulin level and here's the

solution

if you're looking to have a balanced

body and have a nice healthy weight you

want to make sure that your blood sugar

levels are stable when we have insulin

levels spiking up and down and up and

down all day long that is what causes

weight gain so just incorporate a little bit

spirulina in your diet can really help

you in that way so like I said it is you

know the blue-green algae getting really

high quality I will leave some links

down below it's delicious and one of my

favorite ways to to have it it's just

throwing into my nice green smoothie it

gives it a really rich beautiful vibrant

clean green color and it's just it's

amazing so I want to hear from you let

me know you tried spirulina if you used

it in your healthy life and lifestyle

let me know by leaving me a comment down

below if you liked this video make sure

to give it a big old thumbs up and that's it

alright so I will see you next time

OceanMOOC | 8.1 | Economic Models for Sustainability - Duration: 7:57.

So now I'm going to talk about economic models for sustainability.

In September 2015 the United Nations have concluded the sustainable development goals.

Among them is the goal number 14, life below water.

And the goal is to conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources

for sustainable development.

So sustainable development and in particular, sustainable development of the ocean is high

on the international political agenda.

Sustainability as a notion is sometimes claimed to come from German forestry.

More than four centuries ago there was a rule not to cut more trees than grow within the

same time span.

But four centuries thereafter, we found out that this rule is not ambitious enough.

So if you think about not cutting more trees than grow, this may include cutting very small

trees, because they're growing quickly.

Thus, the notion of sustainability has shifted towards a modern notion and that is most prominently

defined by the Brundtland Commission in 1987: Sustainable development implies meeting the

needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet

their own needs.

So a shift has gone towards an integrated view on conservation, economic and social

development and the primary focus is on needs, on human needs and thus on humans in an integrated

way.

On a more fundamental level, this means that sustainability is about justice and it can

be seen as justice between humans of different generations, that is typically referred to

as intergenerational justice.

How can this justice, in particular, the intergenerational justice be brought about?

The central notion here of sustainability economics is that of capital.

Examples of capital include natural capital and human made capital, in particular physical

capital that includes the infrastructure of a country, think of roads.

It includes buildings, it includes machinery.

That's physical capital.

But also human capital and social capital, the productive relationships between humans

are important human-made capital stocks.

In general, capital is a stock that delivers a flow of services.

If you think about natural capital, that's a stock like biodiversity, like a forest,

like a fish stock that delivers a flow of so-called ecosystem services.

Having this notion, this central notion of capital, one can define two different concepts

of sustainability.

Some economists favor so-called strong sustainability, some other economists favor weak sustainability.

The sustainability rule according to strong sustainability is to use and invest, that

means manage natural and human-made capital stocks in such a way that no capital stock

falls below a critical level.

In particular, the natural capital stocks for themselves should not fall below critical

levels.

Weak sustainability by contrast is based on the notion of comprehensive wealth.

What is comprehensive wealth?

It's the total value of all natural and human-made capital stocks in the relevant

economy, may be a national economy or the global economy.

Closely related are the notions of genuine wealth or inclusive wealth which basically

also mean the total value of the natural and human-made assets.

The corresponding sustainability rule is that one should manage, use and invest natural

and human-made capital stocks in such a way that comprehensive wealth does not decline.

Or in other words, that the net comprehensive investment into those capital stocks is not

negative.

Both strong sustainability and weak sustainability come with their own challenges.

For the weak sustainability concept, the obvious challenge is the valuation of individual capital

stocks to form the aggregate of comprehensive wealth.

I will come back to this in a minute.

The challenge for strong sustainability on the other hand is to find the aggregate of

individual capital stocks.

So to find what is the total natural capital on the globe or how this should be disentangled

into several different natural capital stocks.

For example, the global fish stocks, the global climate system.

Or should it be disaggregated even further?

Examples for strong and weak sustainability can be most easily found in the climate literature,

in the climate system.

The most prominent example for strong sustainability requirement is the two degree target for climate

change.

There one could..one could argue that strong sustainability requires that the global mean

surface temperature should not exceed a warming of two degrees above pre-industrial levels,

which is the critical level for that particular natural capital stock defined by the United

Nations.

Correspondingly, one can also use this climate example to illustrate what weak sustainability

would be about and how to value that particular capital stock, namely the carbon concentration

in the atmosphere.

That is done by economists using large-scale integrated assessment models of the global

economy and the climate system that try to put a price on carbon emissions into the atmosphere.

Carbon emissions into the atmosphere mean that this is a disinvestment into this natural

capital stock and that can be valued if one has this price.

And one can include this disinvestment in the overall assessment of comprehensive investment

and thus on sustainability assessment.

The challenge here is that the different modeling exercises come up with very different numbers

for the price of carbon emissions into the atmosphere.

They range from the famous economist William Nordhaus' estimate of 27 euros per ton of

carbon to almost ten times that number, 236 euros per ton of carbon, estimated by the

British economist, Nicholas Stern in his famous Stern Review on the economics of climate change.

This shows quite clearly the challenge to come up with an agreed upon number on the

value of this particular natural capital stock and to conclusively find a measure for weak

sustainability.

To sum up, sustainability in general is about justice between humans of present and future

generations.

The key notion for economic models of sustainability is that of capital.

Human-made capital such as physical capital, human capital and social capital.

Strong sustainability is one concept.

Requires that none of the capital forms falls below a critical level.

Weak sustainability requires that aggregate value of all those capital forms, comprehensive

wealth does not fall over time.

Rock Memoirs For the Win - Duration: 5:45.

Hi everyone. It's Wallace Yovetich

with your Monday video. Today

I'm exploring books about the music world.

First of all, I know I've said this

before in other videos but Just Kids by

Patti Smith is one of my very favorites of all time.

I adored this book and I was not a huge

fan of Patti Smith before. Not that I

wasn't it wasn't that I didn't like her,

it was more that I didn't know her very

well. Like I knew some of her songs, I

think we've all heard of Patti Smith, but

but I wasn't like a die-hard fan. So

that's why I read the book. I actually

got this and an early copy of it this is

a first edition signed book. I love it.

from KCRW which is the LA branch of NPR.

They, I was part of their early book club

and they sent it out. This was like 2010.

So I ended up reading it and I loved it.

Loved it, loved it. Because a lot of times

when you're reading books about any sort

of art that happened it talks a little

bit about what was going on in the

culture of the day because culture

inspires art. So that's what this book

was, was like New York in the 1970s was

super awesome, really fun because it's

not just about Patti. It's about her

experience in New York during that time

and she just happens to be a really

beautiful writer. So I've read that book

and if you haven't read that book I

highly recommend it even if you're not

into Patti Smith, even if you're not a

big music buff. I'm not a big music buff.

I actually almost never listened to

music because I either have talk radio

or an audio book on. And, um, I could, do

not I just don't listen to music. However

I do think that it reading about music

memoirs and biographies and really

interesting because, because they often

talk so much about the culture, maybe

more so than anything else that I've

read or any other kind of memoir. I mean,

maybe political memoirs do a little bit

more but they talked about such a

specific part of the culture which is

the political cult-- the political culture

of the time. I actually got a few books

for research from Barnes & Noble today

so I'm going to share those with you. The

first one is I'm with the band and it's

by Pamela deBarr. I think I'm saying

her name right. I don't really know who

she is, but she was like a the groupie

of the groupies, like she was like the

groupie. And back in like this 60s and

70s, 70s I think. And, um, I read even just

like a few little chunks while I was

sitting there and it was really

interesting you know because she's

talking about all of these people from

that time of who she grouped out on. I don't

really know what the word would be.

Rolling Stone magazine reviewed it

saying that she basically talked about

like her sexual adventures with the same

gusto that only is usually from men and

so that's kind of what caught me. I was

like okay I want to know what this woman

has to say about that time period when

she knew everybody. Boys in the trees by

Carly Simon. This is her memoir. And I

actually flipped through to the, to the

end kind of and Carly Simon is actually

a really beautiful writer which I guess

isn't such a surprise since she writes

you know her songs and we, we know

a lot of them. What I did not know about

her was that her dad was one of the

founding partners of Simon & Schuster

which is very interesting. But I wanted

to get a little bit more into her head

and her writing. And to be honest I

actually don't care that much about her

story which I'm just being honest about.

What I do care about is the fact that

she's such an amazing writer and when I

was reading the parts in the back it was

like reading a novel. So I'm actually

really interested to see what she has to

say because she did come up in

really the time that's very interesting

to me and will be talking about New

York and Martha's Vineyard and about her

relationships and about her experience

being the child of somebody who was in

publishing and then going on to being

somebody who was super successful in the music world.

So this interests me a lot. And then this

one by Nikki Sixx from Motley Cru. It's

called heroin, a heroin, the heroin

diaries. I'm sorry, the heroin diaries.

And it's literally his diaries um from like

1987 I think it is to 1990 something,

like the beginning of the 90s. It doesn't

say but it well like on the top of the

entries like it shows you the date.

And from what I've noticed it's like

1987 to like 1990 or 1991 I think. And um,

it's fascinating because what I would

like to know is a little bit about what

it does, to like not just the music

culture from him

more of that like hard rock like

lifestyle of taking

heroin and doing a bunch of drugs and

he's like really candid in here about

what that feels like for him because

these are his diary entries from the

time. And so some of the ones that I read

were just like, wow, like I wanna, I mean,

talk about a firsthand source of like

getting to know what somebody really

felt like when they were needing heroin

or wanting heroin or when they were on

heroin. And this is something that I am

interested in learning about because I

don't plan to ever take heroin. So I will

never know firsthand what it's like. So I

wanted to get as close to that as I

could without having to actually walk up

to somebody who takes heroin and say

please tell me all about your experience.

I want to mine you for possible stories.

um So this is a really interesting one

if that kind of thing interests you at

all or if you liked Motley Crue when you

were growing up or somebody you knew did

this one might interest you. So that's it

for my haul today. If you have any

that you would like to add down below

that you just loved and you want to

share with people, go ahead and do that.

And I will see you again next Monday.

Until then, happy reading.
