Waching daily May 14 2017

It is a measure of the nature of Saudi culture that Saudi Arabia is the only nation which

was in existence in 1948 not to have ratified the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Women of the Holy Kingdom opens up by explaining the gap which has opened between Saudi Arabia's

backward culture and their tremendous international influence as a result of their newfound oil wealth.

It is an inside look at the many challenges faced by Saudi women every day.

The Saudi Arabian government determines laws based on their interpretation of Muslim teachings.

As a result, the government regulates the clothes that the women of Saudi Arabia are

allowed to wear out in public, and all women must be accompanied by their male guardian

outside of their own homes.

Such practices violate the principle of legal equality, as well as a host of basic human

rights, including freedom of movement, thought, expression, and so on.

This has created a difficult situation for the Saudi people, and for the rest of the

world, in determining the best ways in which to interact with this country, which is in

many ways equal to some of the stronger powers in the world, and yet remains one of the few

countries whose administration still affirms executions by stoning.

But most of all, this situation has left the women of Saudi Arabia in a difficult position.

Without many of the basic rights that women enjoy across the world in the countries

that Saudi Arabia considers its equals.

Laws regarding dress prevent women from leaving their homes without the proper attire.

Laws also prevent law enforcement and emergency crews from entering a building if the man

of the house is not present.

Women can also not be admitted to a hospital without the consent of their male guardian.

These laws often create dangerous situations for women in which they cannot leave a dangerous

area or receive emergency help in their own homes.

Women of the Holy Kingdom details one occurrence where as many as 50 girls were killed or injured

because religious law enforcement would not allow them to leave a burning building because

they were not wearing the proper head covering.

"Do you think that women should be allowed to vote?"

Saudi Arabian government operates based on a strict interpretation of Sharia law, which

is the source of many of these restrictive and frequently deadly policies.

It also means that women are not granted equal treatment in Saudi courts of law, and are

frequently handed sentences of death by stoning, a slow and excruciating form of corporal punishment,

for crimes of adultery, drug smuggling, blasphemy, or many other crimes for which a male might

receive a much lesser sentence or none at all.

Although the government claims to be more open to progressive policy, religious leaders

still remain completely entrenched in their interpretation of the laws of Islam and in

their law enforcement.

These leaders have enormous influence in the devout communities of Saudi Arabia, but have

also been almost inseparably intertwined with the Saudi government for many years.

As such, overcoming the stigma that they assign to the equitable treatment of women in society

will be a long, hard, and potentially deadly task for countless women.

"I think they really need a chance to get things changed for them."

English for Spanish Speakers 30 - difference between 'recently' and 'ultimately'? (with subtitles) - Duration: 3:04.

Hello once again everyone and welcome back to 'One English Tip in One Minute for

Spanish Speakers' where every week I go through, in some detail, one common

English mistake made by those who speak Spanish as a mother tongue...and this is

the 30th video, so video number 30.

You're probably sick of hearing it -- but, you know what? I don't care ... I do care...

but it's good to hear it, I think...and it's good to say it. I appreciate the fact

that you are trying to improve your English. In these videos I show you a

slide and on the slide there are two sentences: One is the correct way we say it in

English, the other is the wrong way that many Spanish speakers might say it.

You have to decide which one is correct. Please do that now. Read the sentences,

listen to me read the sentences, pause the video, think about your answer and we

will discuss the answer in the slide that follows this next slide.

Did you get it right? If not, you're in very good company. Many people get this

wrong. Or if you just happened to take a wild guess and get it right, it's the

same thing: You need to study this a little bit more. To help you on that

studying path, I've given you some sentences to study from. Please study

them in their entirety,

please review them constantly and please put them into practice through speaking

or writing or both. Please go outside this video and use the crazy number of

resources that are out there in the world to help you get past this.

Just a few things before we finish. First, if you liked the video I hope

you'll click on the thumbs up below. Second, I hope you will consider

subscribing to my channel. I think it's a good idea as these videos come out like

clockwork every week. Hopefully you will do that.

Third, I have an online course called '50 Common English Mistakes' and it costs

twenty euros, but if you follow the link in the description box below, it costs 10

euro...so I hope you'll think about that. Next,

I am building up my website so I hope you will pay that a visit. Also, I

have a Twitter feed.

My Twitter handle is @epicenglishtips so please follow me there.

Finally, if there's anything that you want me to work on, if there's any

English mistakes that you need help with,

please write in the comments below and I will try my best to address it. Thank you

for watching, and see you next week.

Somatics for Upper Body - Duration: 3:21.

Hi everyone! I'm Jill Johnson from Joyful

Living Therapy, where health and

happiness meet. Namaste. I'm here today on

a beautiful summer day, you can probably

hear (well, it's spring still) a

lawnmower and some chimes, so it's a

lovely day to be outside. We're here to

do somatics for your neck and shoulders,

so you can keep going outside to do

gardening or biking or running or

whatever, swimming, whatever it is you

want to do with your family, or your

friends, or just by yourself to enjoy

your summer. So, you're going to have an

assignment to do. I'm going to have you

do three full body stretches every day.

And why, and what does that mean? In

somatics it's all about not just

stretching your muscles, but about

re-educating your muscles. Your brain to

your muscles. To your central nervous

system - your second brain so to speak. So

what we're going to do is three full

body stretches right now, and then I want

you to do them sometime today. Maybe

when you wake up, maybe halfway through

the day when you get up from being on

your phone or at your desk, or you've been in

a car.

Alright, so the first one we're going to

do is imagine that when you do

get up, but maybe you're laying in bed,

or you're out of bed, and you give

yourself a full stretch. So

let's do that.

You know how you give yourself a

big stretch, and you're just going to

tighten everything else

and then release and let that go.

That's called pandiculation, with the

P, that means we're contracting all our

muscles and then we're gently releasing,

relaxing them, like a cat stretch. Right

so that's one you can do that every day.

The second one I want you to do is

to interlace your fingers in front of

you, alright,

and then I want you to bring your elbows

together as far as you can. I want you to

get a little bit of squeeze with your

fingers together, a little bit of

resistance here, and then I want you to

begin to lift your elbows.

You're going to lift your elbows as far

as you can without separating your palms.

Little pressure with those palm to palm

and then when you need to you're going

to start pushing those fingers out,

keeping a little bit of tenseness

in there, and squeeze it out and around.

That's fine.

Release it, relax it, shake it, and let it

out, We're going to do one more, so you

have an option. Alright we're going to

interlace our fingers and put them over

our head the same way we had them in front

of us, and then we're going to begin to

squeeze those fingers. We'll lift the

elbows, push those palms up and out, lift

it, squeeze it all,

relax it down. Oh, that felt good!

Thanks for joining me today. I'm going to

be doing these every week so stay tuned.

And if you want to do some yoga with me,

some somatics, let me know I can do some

private sessions or a group class if

you're in the neighborhood. My website:

joyfullivingtherapy.com. Thanks again

for joining us.

have a great day! Namaste!

Billboards Call Out Politicians Who Betrayed Us - Duration: 4:59.

THERE IS AN ORGANIZATION KNOWN AS FIGHT FOR THE FUTURE.

IT IS

PRO-PRIVACY, A NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION, THEY WERE

CONCERNED WITH THE FACT THAT OUR LAWMAKERS VOTED IN FAVOR OF

ALLOWING INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDERS TO SELL OFF OUR DATA

TO THIRD PARTIES.

IN REGARD TO WHAT THESE LAWMAKERS DID, THEY

WANTED TO KIND OF CALL THEM OUT AND MAKE SURE THE AMERICAN

PUBLIC KNOWS WHAT REALLY INFLUENCED THESE POLITICIANS --

LET ME SHOW YOU WHAT THESE BILLBOARDS LOOK LIKE.

THIS IS

THE ONE FOR HELLER, HE TOOK $345,000 FROM TELECOMS THEN HE

VOTED TO LET THEM SELL YOUR WEB HISTORY WITHOUT YOUR PERMISSION.

I LOVE IT.

THEN YOU SEE A SIMILAR BILLBOARD FOR OTHER

LAWMAKERS, THERE'S RUTHERFORD, HERE'S ANOTHER ONE FOR

BLACKBURN.

I LOVE THAT IT INCLUDES THE DOLLAR AMOUNT, IT

RAISES SOME AWARENESS ABOUT THE CORRUPTION THAT'S PLAYING A ROLE

IN THEIR DECISION-MAKING AND CONGRESS.

THAT IS GOOD STUFF.

A COUPLE CHANGES I WOULD MAKE, BUT THOSE

ARE GOOD.

USE THEIR FIRST NAMES, DON'T CONFUSE PEOPLE, WE DON'T

KNOW WHO OUR CONGRESSMEN ARE.

SENATOR DEAN HELLER BETRAYED YOU

-- HELP PEOPLE OUT, THEY ARE DRIVING, MOVING FAST --

WHERE IT SAYS HELLER IT SHOULD SAY SENATOR DEAN HELLER, YOU ARE

RIGHT.

YOUR SENATOR TOOK $345,000.

IT'S LESS OF AN IMPACT WITHOUT THAT.

THEY DIDN'T ASK ME, BUT THIS IS THE RIGHT STRATEGY.

SO MANY

LITTLE THINGS, THIS IS NOT AS IMPORTANT AS HEALTHCARE, BUT

TELECOMMUNICATIONS COMPANIES SELLING YOUR BROWSER HISTORY --

NOT UNIMPORTANT.

IT'S EXTREMELY IMPORTANT.

AND THE COALITION OF PEOPLE STANDING UP FOR PRIVACY RIGHTS

IS SO SMALL, IT'S MOST DEMOCRATS BUT NOT ALL, AND THEN A HANDFUL

OF REPUBLICANS WHO ARE SORT OF THE LIBERTARIAN ASPECT OF THEM

IS THE STRONGEST PART OF THEM, OR IS THERE DEFINING

CHARACTERISTIC.

YOU LOSE A COUPLE OF THOSE SEATS AND ALL OF

A SUDDEN YOU ARE ON THE LOSING END, THEN YOU WILL GET, LIKE WE

ARE GOING TO LOSE NET NEUTRALITY AND VOTES LIKE THIS.

SHOULD BE A BLOODBATH IN 2018, LET'S SEE HOW THEY SCREW IT UP.

ONE OTHER QUICK COMMENT ABOUT THE BILLBOARDS, I LOVE THAT IT

ALSO INCLUDES THE PHONE NUMBER FOR THESE LAWMAKERS.

GIVE THEM A

CALL AND GIVE THEM A PIECE OF YOUR MIND.

AGAIN, I KEEP SAYING

THIS OVER AND OVER AGAIN, IT'S LIKE THE ONE GOOD THING YOU CAN

KIND OF FOCUS ON IS ALL THESE TERRIBLE THINGS ARE HAPPENING --

PEOPLE ARE ENGAGED AND THEY ARE TAKING TO THE STREETS.

HOW MANY

MARCHES HAVE THERE BEEN?

MANY PEOPLE JOINED THESE MARCHES.

IF THIS WERE A NORMAL COUNTRY AND WE DETERMINED THESE

DISTRICTS NORMALLY -- IN 2012 WHERE REPUBLICANS GAINED SEATS,

DEMOCRATS DOMINATED.

THEY HAD 1.5 MILLION MORE VOTES FOR THE

HOUSE.

YOU HAVE TO BE ABLE TO TURN THAT INTO SOMETHING USEFUL.

AND IT WOULD BE, IT WOULD BE MUCH EASIER IF THEY HAD MORE

THREATENED DISTRICTS.

I'M GUESSING MARSHA BLACKBURN'S

TENNESSEE DISTRICT IS SAFE.

DEAN HELLER IS GOING TO LOSE.

WHATEVER DATE IT IS, MARK IT DOWN -- HE SAID I'M GOING TO

WATCH SPEEDY GONZALES CARTOONS --

JOSH MALINA WAS LIKE I WANT

TO SEE WHAT YOU WILL TWEET ON ISRAELI INDEPENDENCE DAY.

I WILL NOT PAY RETAIL.

DEAN HELLER IN NEVADA, WHICH WAS THE ONLY STATE IN THE UNION

IN 2016 WHERE YOU WERE LIKE, HUH, LOOK, DEMOCRATS DID PRETTY

WELL -- IF I WERE DEAN HELLER I WOULDN'T EVEN RUN FOR REELECTION

BECAUSE YOU ARE GOING TO LOSE.

How to Use a Jade Roller for Facial Massage | Byrdie - Duration: 3:12.

Hey, guys!

This is Victoria.

I'm the news editor at Byrdie, and I'm really excited to share one of my favorite skincare

rituals, which is called jade rolling.

So right now what's really new and now in beauty is this really cool merging of Eastern

and Western culture, and that's seen in wellness, in beauty, kind of all over.

And it's really exciting that we're looking beyond our own borders at these techniques,

which—a lot of them are really ancient, and jade rolling is a really great example

of that.

This is a jade roller—it's made of jade stone, hence the name—and jade is used in

ancient Chinese tradition to ward off negative energy, to balance your chi, and just bring

on some good vibes, so that's all really nice, but it has a really practical use as well,

and that is basically to function as a facial massage tool.

It stimulates collagen, it lifts your facial muscles, and then also it makes your products

absorb really deeply.

This jade roller is from Ling Skincare, and the founder and owner of Ling is Ling Chan,

a really, really talented esthetician, and she once gave me a valuable piece of skincare

advice, and that is to think of your skin cells like roof shingles.

So if you look at a roof and the way that the shingles are layered, the opening is always

at the bottom, and our skin cells are actually arranged in a very similar way, and that's

really important to remember whether your cleansing, applying product, or using a massage

tool or just your hands to always apply in an upward motion.

And that's kind of the theme of jade rolling.

It really does lift and use that upward motion, and so you're really hitting all the skin

cells, allowing whatever product you're using with it to absorb better.

And you can use any product that you like—usually it's a moisturizer.

I like using a serum or a cream, and I have two wonderful ones with me today.

The Kypris is a little less wallet friendly, but it's phenomenal.

It's called Moonlight Catalyst, it's full of peptides, it's really wonderful for slathering

on at night and waking up to really bright, refreshed skin.

And then the other one is from one of my personal favorite brands, French Girl, and this is

their brand-new facial serum.

It's made with neroli, which is like one of my favorite scents, so I love this one.

I'm going to use the Kypris.

You just apply a few drops of your preferred product, so you want to put on a really nice

layer of that just to help the jade stone glide a little bit better on your skin.

And then you just roll, and it's really simple—you just roll up, you just target every area of

your face.

Once you feel like you've kind of given yourself a boost, then proceed with your regular skincare

routine, makeup routine, and you're good to go.

I actually really love doing this first thing in the morning, too, because the stone is

really cool, so it's really good for puffy eyes or under-eye bags.

If you want to get more details in the background of jade rolling and what products are best

to use with it, you can check out a story I actually wrote about it for Byrdie, and

it's on byrdie.com right now.

And as always, if you want any other pointers or tips or tutorials, have any request, just

let us know, and we will answer your questions.
