Consent. Means to give or get permission. It can be confusing. However, saying yes

or no confidently can increase our security within all types of

relationships. Clear permission from everyone involved can communicate our

comfort levels, our limits, and prevent mixed messages.

A person cannot give consent if they are drunk, high, passed out, or asleep. It doesn't matter what kind of

clothes a person is wearing or what kind of reputation they have. If a person

engages in any sexual activity without consent it can be considered sexual

assault or even rape. No one should ever feel manipulated or forced to engage in

any type of sexual activity. Even in a relationship, consent is needed all the time.

What is WEIRD? - Duration: 1:57.

This video is going to be about WEIRD people.

WEIRD is an acronym. It stands for Western, Educated, Industrialized, Rich, and Democratic.

WEIRD people tend to be from Europe, Canada, the US, Japan, and South Korea. And those countries are industrialized.

People from other countries would be considered non-WIERD.

I interviewed some of my classmates who I think would be WEIRD.

We're considered WEIRD because we're university students, we're educated, and we're wealthy compared to the rest of the world.

I showed him this image and he said that it was a tree.

And that's something that WEIRD people would say in that they're more generalized when it comes to identifying things.

Non-WEIRD people would be more specific by saying that this is an oak tree.

It's because non-WEIRD people-- they're more exposed to nature and so they would be more specific when identifying things.

This one is lo-- this one's longer.

Both lines are actually the same length.

And WEIRD people tend to fall for this illusion because they're exposed to straight lines growing up since they grew up in an industrialized area.

There's this module in WEIRD people's brains. It makes you see one line as longer.

It could be a male and female animal. I don't know and they had mated and they're very close to each other.

I showed him Bengal tigers and they're actually polygamous animals. He gave a scenario that they're close to each other.

And that's actually more of a human characteristic rather than an animal's, especially an animal that is polygamous.

And WEIRD people tend to give human characteristics to animals due to their lack of exposure to nature.

Non-WEIRD people, on the other hand, are aware that animals are polygamous and so therefore they'd give a scenario that "oh this is one of the tiger's partners

because he's in a polygamous relationship."

Most likely near the Houston Medical Center area. I'll be working there.

He'd like to live somewhere based on the convenience of his work. That's typical of a WEIRD person because they're independent,

move away from their family and do their own thing whereas non-WEIRD people are dependent and would like to stay with their family.
