It is me again, Totus Porcus and your favorite program of news from planet earth. As usual,
we host Dick Greedy and ... That is not my name and you know it!
I just thought that ... NO..! NO! Do it once again and I am done!
You should be grateful, we actually saved your life!
What?! You kidnapped me! No, I just think that .. you don't remember
it well. You have been chased by very dangerous creature!
It was just my dog doing his business outside! Yes, but.. we rather saved your dignity.
What?! What what? You like to collect poops? Let me
make one now.. do you collect it? Do you put it in a nice plastic bag and ... take it
with you, Dick? My name is NOT Dick!
This is really the only one thing here you do not agree with? You are disgusting,
Tell us then what kind of news are you here with.
Today we have couple of very interesting experiments.
Indeed, for you, this could be a little miracle in this world.
Come and check with us these 7 experiments that even you are able to make at home.
Diffusion of water and density When we remove the obstacle between the cups,
the particles of color begin to mix with each other, it is caused when molecules of water
hit each other. Separate penetration of particles of one substance between particles of the
other one is called diffusion. From the mixing of colors, we know that by mixing the yellow
and blue color we get the green color. Density of warm water is lower than the density of
cold water, so if the bottom cup contains hot and top one cold water, warm water flows
upwards while the waters are mixed together.
Mixing will not happen so quickly. Cold water molecules
have less energy, they move less, they are closer to each other, more fluid and therefore
the cold water has a greater density than warm water. With warm water, the molecules
are more energetic and placed further from each other. We know that thinner fluids or
gas are floating on denser fluids or gas, and hence warmer water with lower density
floats on colder water, the one with higher density. Give a try for yourself.
The inflated balloon heated above the candle
does not burst because there it contains water. The thin layer of the balloon did not burn
through because it can not reach the ignition temperature. The heat through the thin rubber
layer is drained into water. Since water has a large amount of thermal capacity, it is
able to absorb a lot of heat, therefore water is used as water cooling.
After tilting the glass by candle, the outside
pressure and internal pressure in the glass are the same. The candle heats the air, which
increases its volume and is pushed out under the glass. A candle slowly burn out and it
consumes oxygen from the air as a result of burning. After the candle burns down the air
in the glass, it is cooling down and the air pressure in the glass decreases and it is
lower than in the beginning of our experiment. Higher external pressure pushes the liquid
into the glass, thereby balancing both pressures - the external and internal, too.
Mix the sugar and sodium bicarbonate in a
ratio of 8:1 (8 equal doses of sugar and one the very same dose of sodium bicarbonate)
and we mix and stir it properly. Upon ignition of ethanol (C2H5OH), the heat
of combustion process decomposes the sodium bicarbonate (Hydrogen carbonate of soda, NaHCO3)
to carbon dioxide (CO2) and other products. Carbon dioxide creates in burning sugar (C6H12O6)
pores and it forms black carbon foam that reminds of snakes.
The oil floats on the water level because
it has lower density compared to water. After adding the effervescent tablet it drops to
the bottom of the water and carbon dioxide starts to be loose and it rises up due to
its density. When rising, it is covered by food color and therefore it looks like a color
ball rising up to the surface.
If we turn the containers upside down, water
will not be poured, it stops due to the vacuum that is caused by escaped air. Air would like
to move from the bottom part to upper one and we can support this by spinning the bottle
and that's how we create a whirlpool. In the middle of the whirlpool, the air flows
and this is the quickest way for water to flow from one bottle to the other one with
the impressive effect of the whirlpool.
The water level behaves like a flexible membrane
due to the surface tension of the water. The water level is held by attachment forces between
the molecules of water. By adding office pins we create a hill as a result of the increase
in the volume of water in the cup by the small amount of pin that swells this membrane out.
That is the end of our news. We hope you have not fallen asleep and stayed with us up to
now, the very last minute. You are really embarrassing.

and don't forget to leave the comment under the video. Let us know, what do you think
– how we should call Greedy in next episode? What? Would it be possible to simply call
me by my REAL name? And what about to grab a plastic bag now
and clean my mess? It is up to you, dear audience. We say goodbye!
Totus: Shut up. Just shut up and clean it!
