Scott Foster: Accountant makes NHL debut in goal for Chicago Blackhawks

A few hours ago I was sitting at a computer typing, now I am standing in front of you guys having finished 14 and a half minutes of NHL hockey.

That was how 36-year-old accountant Scott Foster reacted to the series of injuries that resulted in him making his professional hockey debut on Thursday night.

Foster was on his way to the United Centre to watch the Chicago Blackhawks face the Winnipeg Jets in Americas top-flight ice hockey league, when he got the call.

Not only did he play, but his dream was enhanced by a clean sheet and being named man of the match. Foster is part of a group of amateur goaltenders who rotate as emergency cover at Blackhawks home games.

I usually head upstairs and watch the game from the press box, have a bite to eat and head home, he said.

Current first-choice goalie Anton Forsberg was injured in the warm-up then his replacement Collin Delia cramped up in the third quarter, meaning Foster finally got his chance.

With 14:01 minutes remaining, he entered the rink wearing the number 90 jersey - his first competitive game since playing for Western Michigan University in 2005.

There is always a chance, said Foster. You come to enough games, guys do get hurt, but you do not think it will happen to you.

The initial shock happened when I had to dress. And then I think you just kind of black out after that..

In front of a crowd of 21,839, the father-of-two saved all seven shots he faced as the Blackhawks won 6-2, with the crowd chanting his name. I am just about hitting my prime, he joked.

Tomorrow I will wake up and button up my shirt and go back to my day job, Foster added. It is something I will never forget. This is a dream..

I thought I would vlog today.

We're actually gonna go out. I need to get a package.

What happened is, I got a package for review from a company

but for some reason they had my old address

which is like from seven years ago from my apartment, well townhome.

Anyways, they called Jenna's phone and left a message.

I called back and they said they had the package.

So we are gonna do that today.

After I change and feed him we'll head out, get the package,

and then hopefully head over to Wegman's to get a few things.

We had delivery service yesterday, but there is one thing I forgot

and there's one thing they said they couldn't find

which I was a little bit suspicious.

So I will find it myself.

Hopefully he does okay.

But right now someone wants to be picked up so time to go.

So he has been doing really well so far. Awesome!

Trying to go to the store, so hopefully he does okay.

Yeah, I know. I don't look like a mess for once.

I wanted to film during his nap,

but I decided to curl my hair

and it didn't take that long

but it took long enough that when I was done,

I went to sit down and he woke up.

But I wanted to show you something.

Typically what we'll do is set up here.

We'll move the litter and all of this stuff will be moved.

So like I said, we'll move the cat litter,

the thing on the desk. The desk will stay there.

Probably gonna move and put a dresser back here.

Right there.

The reason is because we might be losing our closet.

I can't say why yet, I don't want to.

But there's a potential that we're not gonna have a closet anymore.

But anyways, I've said too much.

I'm gonna try and let this battery charge and then hopefully film!

Just been cleaning up the cabinets right now.

cause Mikko's sleeping. (ahh)

This is really annoying me, the food part of the cabinet.

Use some, we don't use some.

Kind of the "don't know what you have".

So I'm gonna try to clean it, organize it,

get rid of some thing that we don't use, give away or whatever.

I'm going crazy.

Starting a little bit right now.

So have all of that, that, and all of this... and that.

Probably looks the same to you but it's totally different to me. Looks much better.

That was a lot of work for him.
