'I stand in solidarity with his daughter': Hayley Atwell apologises for working with Woody Allen amid sexual assault claim

Hayley Atwell is the latest star to distance herself from director Woody Allen, following a sexual assault allegation against him.

The Black Mirror actress has now apologised for working with the filmmaker, alongside co-stars Ewan McGregor and Colin Farrell, on 2007 blockbuster Cassandra's Dream, saying she "stands in solidarity" with his accuser, Dylan Farrow.

Speaking to The Guardian, the 35-year-old admitted that, at the time, she considered it a "great opportunity" to work with the director.

"I haven't spoken about this before.

It was my first film and I didn't feel directed by him at all.

I didn't have any kind of relationship with him.

And that was fine but bizarre.

It was a great opportunity, so I did the best I could and left," she said.

"I didn't know back then what I know now.

Would I work with him now? No.

And I stand in solidarity with his daughter and offer an apology to her if my contribution to his work has caused her suffering or made her feel dismissed in any way.

"It's exciting that I can say this now and I'm not going to be blacklisted.

Prolific director Allen has been accused by his adopted daughter Farrow of sexually assaulting her when she was a child, a claim which he vehemently denies.

Diane Keaton faced backlash earlier this week for defending the 82-year-old.

Fans were left outraged after Keaton announced that Allen is "my friend" and that she will "continue to believe him".

The news follows a string of celebrities who have previously worked with Allen distancing themselves by donating profits from their movies to the Time's Up campaign, which works to end sexual harassment in Hollywood.

Oscar-nominated actor Timothée Chalamet recently distanced himself from the director, saying that he doesn't want to personally profit from his role in upcoming film, A Rainy Day in New York.

For casual fans who don't know Kane beyond his "Big Red Monster" gimmick in WWE, they might not realize he's running for Mayor in Knox County, Tennesse as Glen Jacobs.

In fact, Jacobs has built quite the reputation outside of WWE for being an astute business person, active entrepreneur and political hopeful. He's widely respected among the WWE roster as a guy who has successfully made a life for himself outside WWE.

Speaking of respected individuals, perhaps no other performer is respected more than The Undertaker. A long-time veteran of WWE, Undertaker appears to be retired from wrestling after an over 25-year career.

For much of that time, he was playing Kane's brother and the two were among the most dangerous duos in all of wrestling. As Kane runs for office in Tennessee, he'll be calling upon that relationship one more time.

According to a Facebook post by Jacobs, he'll be holding an autograph session and meet and greet with himself and The Undertaker as part of his promotional run for Mayor.

Jacobs created an event for March 1, 2018, on Facebook at the Rothchild Catering & Conference Center offering a chance for fans to see the two back together one more time.

"Glenn Jacobs for Knox County Mayor is proud to welcome WWE Superstars Kane & The Undertaker. These men have served as the cornerstones of WWE for over two decades.

Both were highly decorated champions as individuals and were also members of the most prolific tag team in WWE history, the Brothers of Destruction.".

After 14 seasons, Greys Anatomy is still breaking new ground.

This season, Greys will feature trans actor Candis Cayne in a groundbreaking storyline focused on vaginoplasty, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The multi-episode arc is inspired by the real story of Hayley Anthony, a trans woman who helped invent a new procedure for vaginoplasty surgeries.

With this storyline, the ABC series wants to put more focus on the real-life stories of trans men and women, and hopefully other shows will follow their lead.

This was a storyline that was pulled straight from the headlines, but Greys Anatomy showrunner Krista Vernoff still felt more people should know about Anthonys achievement.

The surgery revolutionizes the making of a vagina, Vernoff told THR, and we thought that was a really cool story and Candis is playing a character inspired by something we read..

Wired reported that Anthony changed the way vaginoplasty is performed by Googling the procedure and sharing her findings with Jess Ting, the director of surgery at the Center for Transgender Medicine and Surgery at Mount Sinai.

What she found helped innovate the procedure so that trans women could now have a vagina that looks and feels and secretes like the real thing, according to Wired.

Greys Anatomy will re-create Anthonys story for the small screen and show the power in telling these stories that, unfortunately, have been ignored for too long.

Already this season, Greys Anatomy has shown that they want to focus on trans inclusion, but not just in storytelling, in casting, too.

Out trans actor Alex Blue Davis plays intern Dr.Casey Parker who, in the recent midseason premiere, let Bailey (Chandra Wilson) know he was a proud trans man..

While it was an important moment for Davis character, it wasnt the most important part of the episode.

In that same episode, Casey saved the hospital from a hacker, not because he was transgender, but because of his computer skills.

It wasnt played as some big reveal or shock.

In fact, Casey tells Dr.Bailey, I like for people to get to know me before they find out my medical history..

That small difference in storytelling was important for Davis, who told The Hollywood Reporter, Whats cool about the show, the episode, and Kristas vision for this character is hes about way more than being trans. Davis said he cried at the table read for that episode.

It was very moving for me.

Ive been waiting for a moment like this on TV my whole life, Davis said.

I am so honored I got to say that line on TV because its a long time coming..

If you want proof of that, you just have to know that Laverne Cox became the first openly trans actor to play a transgender series regular character on a broadcast television show when she starred on the short-lived CBS series, Doubt.

Cayne, who got her start as a drag performer in New York City the 90s, has been on the forefront of trans representation on TV.

In 2007, she became the first trans actress to play a recurring trans character on ABCs Dirty Sexy Money, according to E! News.

Shes since appeared on Nip/Tuck, Transparent, and The Magicians.

But, it wasnt easy.

As Cayne told Time last year, "The trans community can be more than just a prostitute or a drug addict or a killer.

There have been a lot of trans killers." Getting Dirty Sexy Money, she said, was her Meryl Streep moment, and she was so proud to play a trans character that wasnt one-dimensional.

She told Time that she remembered being at an awards show where they played a scene from the show and the whole room gave a standing ovation.

And I realized at that moment that this wasn't just about me wanting to be an actress, she said.

This was about moving the fabric of society forward..

Along with Greys Anatomy, other broadcast shows are incorporating meaningful trans storylines.

Both NBCs Rise and Good Girls feature young trans characters, while Ryan Murphys upcoming series Pose will making TV history for casting the most trans actors in regular roles for a scripted series.

With this latest storyline, though, Greys Anatomy is taking the lead on bringing more nuanced trans stories to the small screen.

The show is making it clear theyre committed to telling stories that include trans actors, and most importantly, making sure trans actors get to tell them.

Mrs May, pictured today with her very handsome husband Philip, has been in China on a trade mission. While popular news website The Paper described Mr May as very low-key, stays away from the media and the public eye.

Mrs May is on a trade mission to China and this morning it was announced British beef would be back on the menu for the Asian country for the first time in decades.

On a visit to Beijing, the Prime Minister used talks with Li Keqiang, the countrys second most important politician, to signal her determination to boost trade with the giant economy.

On Thursday the senior squad completed their first training session in February.

Naturally, the focus of the gruelling workout was the first competitive match of the month,

Saturday's trip to Mainz.

The men in red aim to maintain their excellent run of form since the start of the year,

although this time the intention is to avoid conceding the opening goal:

I think we need to be making better starts.

We've conceded goals in both our last home games against Bremen and Hoffenheim

and coming back from that is hard work.

We played well in the second half in both games,

but that won't always be the case.

We have to concentrate for the full 90 minutes,

or we run the risk of losing a game at some point.

No-one at the club wants that of course, neither at Mainz nor in the subsequent matches.

And speaking of the schedule, February brings the next phase of the campaign featuring

two games a week.

Is that a good or a bad thing for Martinez and his team-mates?

I prefer lots of games.

The weeks go by more quickly when we have two or three matches.

We're ready for the busy period.

We have lots of players available at the moment.
