How to meditate for beginners in 5 steps.

You guys requested this video after I talked about how to achieve true happiness through

being present (which is trained through meditation), as well as after the video on the benefits

of meditation on your health and your mind.

To reiterate a few, it will help with NoFap and it will make you less anxious as well

as many other benefits.

The best part is you get all of this just from closing your eyes and breathing.

It's a little bit more complex than that, and today we'll be going over the 5 steps

to how to meditate effectively.

The first step to meditation is obviously to find a place to use for meditation.

I simply use my room in the morning when it is extremely quiet because my parents aren't

up around 5AM and that's perfect for me.

Even if you are in a busy environment, try to find a relatively silent area, maybe your

room before you go to sleep, early in the morning, or even for me in the past and still

when I have to do it with people home, in the garage or basement areas where noise from

outside is canceled for the most part.

Once you have found your spot, we can move onto how to sit.

The second step is to sit.

For me I have found the most awareness when sitting down with my legs crossed on the floor,

but I have meditated sitting in a chair and that works perfectly fine as well.

No matter what make sure your back is straight and that it is a comfortable position as later

on when you sit in the same position for 10, 20, even 30 minutes at a time, it will pay

dividends to sit up correctly.

The third step is to use a timer or an app to meditate for a certain amount of time.

I use the Calm app which has a website as well though it is paid, but I do know that

many people recommend Headspace which is free.

Or just set a timer on your phone or computer for however long you want, though for beginners

this is what I recommend.

Meditate for 1 minute today.

Do it today or most likely you'll never do it -- plus it's just one minute.

Then as you progress, add up 1 minute per week.

So this week until Sunday you meditate 1 minute, next week 2 minutes, and progress until however

long you need.

I would say minimum for stopping adding time would be around 15 minutes per day.

The fourth step is to close your eyes.

Keep them closed -- there are other meditation methods, but for this it is much easier and

more beneficial, at least for me, to meditate with my eyes fully shut for the entire session.

The fifth and final step is to breathe and to focus on it.

Now this is pretty simple, but some people start to think too much about how to breath.

At times if I feel like it I will take a few deep breaths just to get myself in the mood

to meditate, or just to get some fresh air into my lungs.

However, when you are doing it, just breathe naturally and focus on the breath -- and to

do this, notice the time between when you release a breath and when you breathe in a

new one.

There's a little pause between that, and just watch that as you go.

This will eliminate most thoughts that come into your head.

At the beginning, do not get discouraged, the first week or so, you will probably be

bombarded with thoughts if you are someone in your head a lot, and that's what meditation

solves.

People who are always in their heads are usually anxious or regretful of the past.

But when you start to focus on the present moment and enjoy the environment around you

rather than always thinking and being steps behind, you are here in the now.

So when you breathe, focus on being aware.

When a thought comes by, don't judge it, just continue to breathe and let it go.

For me I have issues sometimes with music basically playing in the background of my

head, so I turn my attention toward the breath and I'm good.

Even monks have wandering thoughts at times, so don't sweat it, just keep trying to stay

focused on the present moment as much as possible.

Once the timer is up, then you can slowly return by opening your eyes and getting up

from your seat or from the floor.

Russell Wilson is Being Trolled For His Mother's Day Message to Ciara - Duration: 1:25.

In honor of Mother's Day celebrities are taking to social media to celebrate their mothers

or mothers of their children and Russell Wilson was no exception.

The Seahawks quarterback posted a heartfelt message with a gorgeous picture of the couple,

praising his wife for Mothers Day weekend.

The caption read,

"Nothing better than spending time with you.

You are an amazing mom & I'm so grateful I get to spend the rest of my life with you

& raising our kids.

I love you!"

You notice he said kids plural instead of singular.

Wilson and Ciara only share one biological child together and the other is his stepson

baby Future.

Well the internet is a dark and heartless place because instead of admiring a husband

that lovingly cares for all of his wife's children not just his own, especially on mother's

day, they had to troll him on the fact that of course, he is not the real father.

Fans of Future stepped in on the comments section tagging the rapper and writing things

like "tell future's kid I say hi".

Luckily a lot of the backlash was doubled over by support for the couple, admiring Wilson

for treating his stepson like his own.

The beef between Future and Wilson has been very one sided, with Future spending a great

deal of time trolling his ex's new hubby.

As far as Wilson he's just keeping his head high and focusing on maintaining a happy married

life, and that's what he should keep doing regardless of trolls on the internet.

West Point Cadet Gets 30 Months of Confinement for Drug Conspiracy

Christopher Monge, a member of the West Point Class of 2017, was sentenced to 30 months of confinement in a military prison

WEST POINT -- Christopher Monge, a member of the West Point Class of 2017, was sentenced Wednesday to 30 months of confinement in a military prison for conspiring to bring drugs onto the grounds of the military academy.

He also was dismissed from the Army and will forfeit all pay and allowances.

Monge, 22, of Allentown, Pa., was sentenced after pleading guilty to multiple violations of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. He admitted bringing cocaine, oxycodone and Xanax to West Point.

He received a long embrace from his sobbing mother after the military judge, Lt. James Ewing, pronounced the sentence. Ewing deliberated for more than an hour.

Monge said sometimes he bought the drugs in Newburgh. Other times, they were obtained on trips home to Pennsylvania. Monge is the second of six cadets to face a court martial after drug charges were preferred against them in November.

Tevin Long, a former Army football player, pleaded guilty to drug charges last month and was sentenced to 30 days of confinement. He, too, was booted from the academy.

West Point officials still have not made final decisions on prosecuting the four others charged in November.

The four -- Jared Rogers, Jaelen Gadson, Jalen Swett and Joshua Bobo, who was Monges roommate at one point -- testified for the prosecution during the sentencing phase of Monges court martial.

Swett said Monge introduced him to oxycodone and showed him how to ingest it through his nose. He also claimed Monge had admitting selling drugs to more than 100 cadets.

Ewing later noted that conflicted with Monges own, unsworn testimony that he sold to 15 or 20 cadets. One of Monges lawyers, Gary Meyers, explained he sold multiple times to the 15 or 20 cadets.

Monge expressed regret for what he did during his unsworn testimony. Its definitely a humbling experience, he said. I cant say Im sorry enough to my parents, or the people who helped me get here..
