U.S. Vice President Mike Pence said he will head to South Korea this week to stop North

Korean propaganda from 'hijacking' the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics.

Pence will lead the U.S. delegation at the Olympics to cheer on Team U-S-A,...

but he also appears to share experts' concerns that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's decision

to send a delegation to the sporting event is part of a ploy to legitimize his regime.

North Korea will send its 140-member Samjiyon art performance group to the South on Tuesday

for concerts in Seoul and Gangneung , one of the host cities of the upcoming Winter

Games.

Why Self-Loathing Is Better Than Self-Pity - Just A Thought #36 - Duration: 4:01.

I Was Thinking

Woe is me!

Or some other pained huffing, perhaps of a symptom or ailment, perhaps with the word

muh before it, has slid from the oh-so-misunderstood and overlooked lips of many couched and seated.

Do you think to yourself about how difficult and, not to put too finer point on, shit your

life is?

Do you wish that you were taller, richer, or dead?

Do you wallow in the horror, the horror of it all, but in a much more floppy-haired sort

of way than Marlon Brando?

Then you might be suffering from the worst sort of angsty bullshit!

More angsty and bullshitty than any of the other emotional problems somewhat clever and

unfilled people suffer from – including despair, hangover, and jazz.

That's right, you might be suffering from self-pity.

My life!

Don't even start me on it right now!

My life!

Not to suggest that people with shit lives should deny their situations, or to condemn

people who reflect or feel sad about their time in Bush era gulags… because self-pity

isn't the same as self-reflection, or as feeling sad.

Self-pity is feeling sorry for yourself – it is, essentially, and hopefully conjuring up

the image of a hippo having wonderful time, an activity of wallowing.

And there are times when you can legitimately feel it – can I give you a ride to the local

rape crisis centre?

Ok so again tissue dispensers, there's nothing wrong with feeling sorry for yourself when

something bad happens, but it's perhaps not as helpful when you're feeling bad for,

well, I don't know, how fucked up your life is when you're in a fair amount of control

of it and compared to the rest of the none Bilderburg families it isn't that bad.

I mean fine, pity yourself; we are, dear listener, all doomed to dust, fated to be forgotten

nothing in the cosmic wind, but two critical words defining self-pity are 'excessive'

and 'attention-seeking'.

I think that's actually three words and a hyphen Steve.

Eat steel bitch!

And my name's not Steve.

Despite all that about self-pity, I sometimes get the smallest inkling self-loathing might

be held in less esteem, somewhere between the same sort of esteem held by a fixer for

The Harvey Weinstein School of Massage and a Realtor who believes anything legal is moral.

Did I mention that I equate estate agents with spider crabs?

It might well be in their nature to be so unappealing, it might not be their fault,

but I'd still give one both barrels and cook its guts up for breakfast.

Gazump me and die!

What was I saying?

Self-loathing is not something held high by society.

Do you hate yourself?

Well that's dysfunctional!

Are you annoyed with yourself all the time, do you hold yourself to impossibly standards?

How very queer!

But if you want to make all that not your fault, go right-a-fucking-head.

Well nine of my ten top in-real-life snot stains are people who could have done with

a bit more self-loathing, and honestly I don't think people should particularly like themselves.

I mean sure, don't hate yourself, but you see that guy there in the marble, that's

Alexander The Great, that's Leonardo Da Vinci, that's Peter Fucking Falk.

You think you can do better than that?

Pull yourself together Mr. Barrowclough, smell the napalm, smell the ashes, get a grip and

get out there.

Self-loathing is without a doubt an unpleasant feeling but it's the reason I actually make

videos because as easy, and yes, yes as tempting, as it might be to cheaply grow heroin in central

America and flood nowheresville Washington with poison… as easy, and as profitable,

and as satisfying as that would be…

What was I saying?

As easy as that thing might be, I would be annoyed at myself for not doing the other

thing, whatever it was, that I mentioned.

Annoyed enough to actually fill my time with self-loathing.

This, I think, is incredibly useful.

For all those talented something elsers our there, who are being forced into being renal

doctors by their parents who thought oncology was a bit too competitive, there are maybe

just as many people who, if not just because of passion, keep going because they would

hate themselves if they didn't.

There is no dagger sharper than the one held by the voice in the back of your head.

I think I'd summarise by saying something about self-pity being in a new-car sickly

sort of way, more gratifying, but self-loathing being a legitimate motivator, but frankly

I can't stop thinking about soil acidity and the water requirement of a typical poppy

plant.

But maybe I'd hate myself too much, not if I started to grow opiods, but if I made

my sleazy money in any other way than a crypto-currency scam.

By the way, buy my Gregbucks, every other purchase must be a podcast.

Well, that's just a thought.

That are in it

So let's begin this episode by looking at Malaysia the Malaysia is divided into two parts Malaysian, Borneo and Peninsular

Malaysia Malaysia is a 45th most populated country in the world according to the world population

Review and that population is at thirty two point zero four million people the population density is ninety six point eight six people per square

kilometre and the total land area of Malaysia is

330 thousand eight hundred and three square kilometers the Philippines is what is called a unitary sovereign state and

island country in Southeast Asia

But the majority of Philippines population actually live on just eleven primary islands the population of the Philippines

currently sits at

106 million five hundred and ten thousand people and currently that makes the Philippines a twelfth most populated country in the entire world its

Population density is 311 point one two people per square

Kilometre the LAT area of the Philippines is three hundred and forty two thousand three hundred and fifty three square kilometers now

Let's get into the money of these two nations the currency in Malaysia is a Malaysian Ringgit and in the Philippines

They use the P so and when we take a look at stats from

2016 Malaysia expert at one hundred and eighty four billion dollars making it the 20th largest

exporter in the world and import one hundred and fifty six billion dollars

Malaysia's GDP is around two hundred ninety six point four billion dollars

And his GDP per capita is nine thousand five hundred and two dollars and sixty seven cents

So now let's look at the top exports of Malaysia and now the first one was integrated circuits at twenty five point six billion dollars

Then we have refined petroleum at ten point nine billion dollars and palm oil at eight point nine four billion

Malaysia stop imports also include integrated circuits that sit at eighteen point five billion dollars

and then refined petroleum at eleven point four billion dollars and

semiconductor devices at three point two nine billion dollars moving on to the dollars of the Philippines now so the Philippines is a

41st largest

export economy in the world their GDP is three hundred and four billion dollars and the GDP per capita in the Philippines is

Around seven thousand eight hundred dollars looking at the top experts of the Philippines now

Philippines have integrated circuits as its top at thirteen point six billion dollars

Then there's computers at four point four seven billion dollars and wood carpentry at two point seven eight billion dollars

the Philippines imports now also includes

Integrated circuits at the top at nine point five billion dollars cars are second at three point nine three billion dollars

And then refined petroleum is third at three point five six billion

now looking at the cost of living when we compare them to each other we take the capital cities of both countries and

Compare the cost of living so when we look at the cost of living in cholera umpire

Malaysia and compare it to the Manila in the Philippines

we see that food is 17% higher housing is two percent less clothing is seven percent more and

Transportation is thirty three percent higher personal care is 25 percent more expensive and entertainment is 9 percent more expensive

So the cost of living in Calamba is fourteen percent more expensive than in Manila Philippines

And now looking at the debt of these countries Philippines national. Debt is 125 billion dollars u.s.

and the debt per capita is one thousand thirteen dollars now Malaysia's national debt stood at

175 billion u.s.. Dollars so that concludes this side-by-side comparison of Malaysia and the Philippines

What is Brain Hearing Technology? | Scottsdale | Southwest Hearing Center - Duration: 3:19.

Research physicians at Johns Hopkins University have determined that there is

a direct correlation between untreated hearing loss and dementia. A very large

component of hearing healthcare is brain health. We know that it is healthy for

the brain for a person to have hearing devices that will amplify sounds, keeping

the nerve pathway from the ear to the brain stimulated and enabling the

language processing area of our brains to function the way they should.

As audiologists at Southwest Hearing Center, we have learned through newer

research that we actually hear with our brains based on the information that the

ears can send to the brain. The brain is a unique organ that is able to organize

and sort sounds effectively, but if the brain is not obtaining the information

it needs, then it has to work much harder to fill in the gaps to determine what it

is that a person is saying, particularly in the noisier environments. And I will

tell you, as an audiologist that a person could be sitting right in their

living room visiting with friends or family and be isolated. They'll miss

punchlines to jokes. Another form of isolation would be being afraid to

participate for fear that they may be asking a question that's already been

asked or that they may bring up a topic that people have already spoken about, so

that a person will start to withdraw and isolate themselves. That results often in

depression. People stop participating in activities that they once enjoyed just

for the fact that they're concerned that they may not be able to hear and enjoy

the conversations with others around them. Another form of isolation is

isolation from environmental sounds. Each of us have sounds in our daily

environment. It could be something as simple as the refrigerator humming, our

television running, the neighbor mowing their yard next door, birds chirping

outside, hearing the garbage truck down the

street. All of those are important sounds that put us in touch with our

environment and give us a sense of security in our living situations. In the

research that has been done on the correlation between dementia and hearing

loss, they have found that those who have hearing loss who actually wear their

hearing devices do not show any greater likelihood of developing dementia than

the population in general. So here at Southwest Hearing Center we will not

only perform appropriate hearing evaluations to determine the patient's

hearing loss, but we will help them select hearing devices that will enable

them to be in touch with their friends, with their loved ones, and to be able to

participate actively in life. That is what is healthy for us emotionally and

that is what is healthy for our brains.
