Look Like a Winner: Military Etiquette and Grooming 1970 US Army Training Film for WACs - Duration: 16:16.

well ladies you've come a long way no question about it

you have more to say these days about your education, your appearance

your occupation

and you role in

life than any young women have ever had in history

yes you have a voice in your own destiny

you have it in civilian life, as well as in the military

The best part, this blind date...

that's right there's a lot you can say and do about who you are, where you're going

and how you look

especially in the military

Good morning! How are ya? I'm fine, it has to be a beautiful day out there

I've been up for about 15 minutes already, I don't know why, I just feel so great

Up, up, up! Come on, lazy bones

Let's get moving! Let's go!

We all recognize the importance of good grooming and grace in uniform

The problem is, where do you start?

We were going to get up early

She just needs more time than we do

with all the demands a girl has on her time, it's pretty hard

I know it's important, but when am I supposed to do all those things? With all I have to do now, sometimes I don't even have time to breathe.

Nobody has to convince me, I'm as interested in good grooming as anybody else

But what am I going to do with this hair?

Oh, that's alright. But this skin of mine, it's really driving me crazy. I mean, can I help it if I didn't get good skin?

Hi, girls. Hi! A lot of luck, blind luck.

some of this is true

and some is pure nonsense

luck doesn't have much to do with it at all

Sure, Susan Mayfield looks good but she never won any beautiful baby contest

she had to work for it

it takes more than luck

to appear bright, well groomed, and smart looking

nobody's trying to sell you a batch of easy miracles

all we're talking about is making the most of what you have

first of all of you must have a strong desire to look as well as you can, a certain pride in your appearance

then it takes a certain amount of attention to detail

hard work

and just learning the simple rules of good grooming

how to wear your uniform

and military manners

there are no lucky breaks or secret formulas

this is what makes it happen

cleanliness is perhaps the most important part of the story

it is the foundation for any good grooming program you can think of

this means many things including a daily bath or shower

I didn't think I'd have time to take a shower today

you know, it's funny how you get used to things. When I was at home, I never used to shower every day.

Me either. I guess I was just like most of the other kids

I didn't think I was that important, I just didn't want to take the time

I used to complain about that all the time. Please, mom, don't put me in the shower!

(laughter)

for many girls, a daily shower is a new experience and one they don't welcome too readily

they feel it takes a lot of time

and well, it just doesn't seem that important

actually it only takes a few minutes, and once you're used to it, it's like brushing

your teeth

you hardly notice it at all

and it is important

soap and water is refreshing

and it's a fine skin conditioner

another thing you learn in a hurry as you can't get

by with a deodorant alone

if you want to smell clean you have to be clean

I'm going to have to do something with this hair, it's a mess!

well I wouldn't go so far as to call it a mess

but she's right to be concerned

haircare and hairstyling

are essential to good grooming

and nobody can be attractive with unkempt and poorly styled hair

this means the amateur hair stylist is out

everything I try, it doesn't work

How do you usually fix it?

I just part it on the side

on this side

ok

that's a long way, up here

all the way up here? ok

it's not that she doesn't know what she's doing. As a matter of fact

sometimes she does a pretty good job

it's just that in this situation

pretty good

isn't good enough

No, I don't like that. I'll do it in the middle

On the side, well what about the back?

the selection of a hairstyle and the basic cut cut

call for experienced professional care

I think we should do your hairstyle

something on these lines

since you have a heart-shaped face

let's pull the bangs over just a little bit like this

not too far down

and on the sides, let's bring it forward

so it will frame your eyes

how does that look?

it sounds ok

there won't be too much on the forehead, will there?

because we do wear our hats most of the time

we have a regulation, we're not allowed to have our bangs show under the hats

well, what we can do in that case

it will swing a little more over to the side

and your hat will fit about so

and it will be hidden under your hat

I know about your regulations and

I think this will be real good for you

working with you girls

is just one more factor

in selecting the proper hairstyle

the other thing that we can't ignore

is the shape of the face

the length of the hair

and the texture of the hair

I know what you mean

I've been through all of those wild-eyed styles

and now I want to find a style that works for me

that's the right idea

I want to tell you

a girl can look real good

if she'll just remember a few things

first she has to start with a good cut

and then the right style

If you start with a good cut

you should be able to keep your hair looking attractive between

visits to the beauty parlor

try to get regular

beauty shop attention to your hair

i suppose you heard this before

but this is the truth

cleanliness is very important to the hair

you have to know how to shampoo the hair

and do it frequently

hair coloring is another area where professional assistance is needed

amateur experts rarely produce the best results

professional help is also needed in the selection and use of cosmetics

with all the products available these days and the many ways they can be used

a girl can really become confused

it makes sense therefore to consult a good cosmetician

Oh, I didn't think I'd make it at all

I rushed out to get here

Listen, I was talking to the hairdresser last week

about the shape of my face and everything

and I want to find a style

a makeup style

that'd be becoming with this new hairstyle that I've got. What do you think?

Well, my advice

is usually pretty simple. I start by telling a girl that she's not going to get anyplace

just by applying a lot of makeup

there's a lot more to it than that

Yeah, I guess we all went through that stage

when I was younger

I used to just lay it on and cover everything that was bothering me, you know?

but I used to walk around looking like I had a mask on most of the time

well it doesn't work not at all as a matter of fact, it's exactly backwards

the first and most important rule is just keeping clean

well, it's all so confusing

some people say don't use soap, others say that cream is bad for your skin

well what I want to know is, what is right?

there's no big secret about this

the standard cleansing creams are fine

and so is soap and water

as a matter of fact

cold water is a wonderful skin conditioner

like the good astringents and skin fresheners, it closes the pores and

prevents the accumulation of dirt and old makeup

makeup can do a wonderful job

if it is used intelligently

there are no set rules about what to use and how to use it

each woman is an individual

and represents an individual set of problems

the important job that make up to do

is emphasize a woman's strong points and at the same time

play down her weak ones

the colors you choose for yourself should be appropriate for you

they should blend with the color of your skin, your hair

and with each other

the right cosmetics skillfully applied

can make a woman appear more alert and alive

now if this is going to work

if you're going to achieve good grooming

the same kind of judgment and selectivity has to be used in every

aspect of makeup

all the parts have to fit together

hair, skin

eyebrows

fingernails, everything

Hey, Sue! What's happening? Hi! Boy, my nails were really beginning to look like a mess

Well, how often do you do your nails?

About once a week or so

Hey, you like this new color I got?

Purple raspberry glow?

(laughing)

Hey, wow, Sue

you're really swinging in there

Oh, but look hon, you're not going to wear that to the office

Oh, I don't know

No, I don't think Captain Mayhew would approve of that

I'm going to save it for Saturday night

You know, Tom really likes those new colors

Tom

now, there's a real swinging guy

You know, let's take Art.

I can wear about three coats of deck varnish

on my nails and Art...

he wouldn't know the difference

Once a girl gets to recognize what's appropriate and what isn't

she's way ahead of the game

For example, in eye care and eye makeup

now the right way here can be a little tricky

a girl hears a lot of talk about

trying for the natural look

well that doesn't mean the shaggy look

it means maintaining the natural line and using the eye make up that will enhance

and emphasize a girl's natural strong points

there are no set rules for everyone

but there are some basic principles

perhaps the most important of these are put case

good taste and appropriateness

in most instances, this simply means following the lines and contours of your face

some women are just naturally thin

they don't gain weight no matter what they eat

Susan isn't one of those lucky ones

she has to be careful about eating

if she wants to keep her figure

sticking to a diet is difficult in the beginning

but it soon becomes a habit

and it does pay off

you will feel better

look better in your uniform

and move with more confidence and grace

good physical condition is just as important as the balanced diet

this too pays off every time you put on your uniform

the last important factor is good tailoring

I want to tell you something. We cannot perform miracles

The way some of the girls come in here, they are simply impossible to fit properly

Oh, come on now, aren't you going to make me look gorgeous, Mrs. Green?

well I see that you have been watching your diet

And you are

using a good foundation

perhaps we can do something

It's a great satisfaction when I can do a good job

but I'm no magician

If a girl really wants to look like something, she has to help

This help requires proper care of the uniform

fitting is only part of the story

This uniform must be laundered and pressed

after each wearing

Now the lightweight uniform and the war uniform

can be drycleaned at least once a week

the skirts we are using these days

a girl can look very smart

but again she had to work at it

it's all up to her

good grooming and grace in uniform covers a lot of territory

cleanliness

femininity, makeup

good health habits

and the proper fit and care of your uniform

a lot to remember

at a fair amount to do

but they pay off in a number of important ways

they pay off in social acceptance

career advancement

and in personal popularity

it works alright

no question about it

it works just fine

Sean Hannity Admits That Fox News Might Be Done For Good - Duration: 4:25.

Things at Fox News might be even worse than most people realize.

The man who had been president of the network for about a year after Roger Ailes was ousted

was ousted yesterday, and now a woman has come in, and Sean Hannity isn't very happy

about that.

Sean Hannity tweeted out a response to somebody who asked him a question said, "This might

be the end of FNC as we know it.

Done.

If this continues."

Now, if this continues, we're not quite sure exactly what he means.

Maybe he means working for a woman, but perhaps Hannity has enough self-awareness to understand

that if this continues might mean the criminal behavior of Fox News.

I say criminal behavior because some people may not realize that Fox News, the network

itself, is actually under criminal investigation for covering up the settlement payments that

they've had to pay out to sexual harassment victims.

They hid that information from the network shareholders, a move that is illegal, but

Fox News is becoming this, I don't want to say elephant in the room, because we're all

talking about it, but it has become this disaster of a catastrophe of a nightmare for everyone

at that network.

Most of them deserve it.

Sean Hannity deserves this.

Tucker Carlson, Bill O'Reilly deserve this.

The women who were sexually harassed absolutely did not deserve that kind of treatment.

They don't deserve that kind of behavior.

The people who are just working there because they need the jobs or because they're good

at what they do, they don't deserve this.

They're not the ones out there spewing this partisan, horrible, nonsensical rambling that

this network puts out every day.

It's the hosts, the Steve Doocys, you know, the Brian Kilmeades, the Tucker Carlsons,

the Hannitys, those are the people doing damage to this country, and they deserve what is

happening to this network because they have fostered it, and in some cases, according

to allegations, have participated in it.

Fox News does deserve to go away.

Fox News as we know it, as Hannity says, does need to die.

It's time for this network to go away.

I mean, for 20 years or more they have been causing unquestionable damage to the United

States.

They're the ones that helped George W. Bush win reelection in 2004 in spite of the fact

that he had a negative approval rating.

That kind of thing didn't happen before that, but Fox News out there every day preaching

to their easily manipulatable right-wing audience helped this man get elected.

They helped promote Donald Trump and get him elected, along with Morning Joe.

They're the ones who did that, so yes, they have caused uncountable damage to this country,

and they deserve what's happening to them.

They deserve to fall apart.

They deserve to go out of business.

Rupert Murdoch has been a cancer on planet Earth.

He is spreading anti-climate change propaganda, right-wing propaganda, capitalist right-wing

[Iran 00:03:24] libertarian laissez-faire nonsense that doesn't work in the real world,

but that's what the network does.

It's brainwashed enough people in this country that they think we can have trickle-down economics.

The lowest class believes that if we give the wealthy more tax breaks they'll eventually

get some of that money, and it's because Fox News tells them that.

Now, not all of them believe it, but there are enough that do, and it is because Fox

News is telling them that.

I hope Sean Hannity is right, and I hope more than anything that this is the end of Fox

News as we know it.

SJSU- Welcome from AVP for the Office of Student and Faculty Success - Duration: 3:15.

[SJSU Fight Song Music]

Hello, I am Stacy Gleixner, Associate Vice President for Student and Faculty Success at San Jose State

I want to congratulate you on your admission to SJSU and give you a warm welcome into our Spartan community.

We are excited to have you join us in the Fall.

You have already accomplished a lot towards your bachelor's degree and should be very proud of what you have achieved.

However, SJSU is a new place.

Our policies and procedures, and the services we have to support you, are different than at your previous school.

We encourage you to take the time to acclimate yourself to SJSU.

Familiarizing yourself now with the way things are done here will be a good investment of your time.

In order to get you off to a good start,

we have put together a series of videos to explain the tools and resources we have at SJSU to help you.

I encourage you to watch these videos before coming to orientation.

The tools and resources available at SJSU to support you academically are part of MyGPS: My Graduation Path to Success.

In MyGPS, we have technology tools to help you determine what requirements remain in your degree and to optimize your schedule.

Take time now to review the requirements in your major, compare those with coursework you have already done,

and plan out what you need in the fall semester and what you need to take each semester until you graduate.

We encourage all students to take 15 units for a timely completion of your degree.

First off, you have already paid for these units

As long as you take 6 or more units tuition is the same, so you might as well maximize your investment.

Also, taking less than 15 units a semester can extend your graduation by a year or more.

Not only will you pay an extra year of tuition and you'll also lose a year of income on your new job,

but this loss will accrue over the course of your career.

I also want to emphasize that research shows that students who take more units have a higher GPA.

There is national data that supports this and also SJSU's data backs this up.

How many units are right for you is a personal decision about balancing your coursework and the rest of your life.

Think about what is right for you and bring your plan, along with your questions, to orientation!

Orientation will be your first chance of many to talk with your academic advisor.

Your advisor will work with you throughout your SJSU experience to ensure you stay on track with your academic plan.

When you get to SJSU in the Fall be sure to explore all the opportunities on campus

and engage in the ones that are a good fit for you.

You will see there are a wide range of ways to learn and develop outside the classroom:

talks, workshops, students organizations, leadership retreats, free tutoring and mentoring services, and much more.

Seek out ways to get involved and get the support you need!

We look forward to seeing you at Orientation and working with you throughout your SJSU career!

SPARTAN UP!

The Power of Gratitude at The Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital - Duration: 5:24.

Hi, I am Jamie Corley.

I'm originally from St. Louis, born and raised.

In 2010 I was 22 years old and diagnosed with a benign meningioma tumor on my thoracic spinal

cord.

In 2014, I had the tumor removed by Dr. Ralph Dacey.

Everybody I came into contact with, they were equally as nice and compassionate, but you

knew that they were sharp and the trains ran on time and everyone was exceptionally bright.

And I really appreciated that.

I think that can sometimes be hard to find.

You just know you're in really good hands when you're there.

I'm thankful for donors for providing support to the hospital so that patients like me can

access incredible care and incredible doctors.

I had a liver transplant about 13 years ago.

They said your chances of surviving are 50-50.

I felt that for some reason I came through it successfully and afterward I looked and

said 'why?'

For some reason, I stuck around.

Why?

I found that they have excellent folks who can do the work, from the doctors to the support

staff, the nurses, everyone.

All the way down.

I say thank you to everyone.

I want to make a difference by giving to the Foundation to help others who can't help

themselves.

I give to the Foundation because the hospital has done so much for me and I have survived

two rounds of ovarian cancer in almost ten years now.

And I feel so very fortunate.

I'm just so appreciative every time I go back to Barnes-Jewish, and they are so, so

wonderful and just treat you so well.

Giving makes me feel as though I was contributing to saving somebody else's life and also

in appreciation for what somebody did for me.

I'm sure thankful for Barnes-Jewish Hospital because they had the facilities to help me,

and I just want to make sure that they can continue to help others.

The Foundation is important to I think the entire community in St. Louis as a whole because

they provide so much, whether it's money for research, money for outreach, money for

education.

There's just so much that it does.

We kind of put together this big idea at the Foundation that got funded and it's led

to some groundbreaking discoveries that we hope are pretty soon to translate into new

therapies that'll really help patients.

My name is Bree and I'm a graduate at Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes-Jewish College.

My mom and my dad, we sat down the day after I got accepted and my mom said, "Did you

know how much this school costs before you applied?"

And I said, "No, I was just so excited to get an acceptance letter from Goldfarb."

And so we made an appointment with the financial aid representative, and she began to crunch

numbers and talk.

Any my mom just kept looking at me like, "you know, um, okay."

So, she then brought up information about scholarships.

It was about a week before school started, and I got a letter in the mail, and I opened

it.

It was a scholarship, and I just, I started crying.

I showed my mom and she started crying.

I even ran to my boyfriend's house and he started crying.

I mean, people just knew that I really, really have been praying for it and really wanted

this, so it was a blessing.

I want to be a part of making the world better.

I just want to say thank you.

Knowing that someone is standing behind me, pushing me to be the best that I can be, believing

in me enough to invest in me, it just gave me more hope, more passion, more drive to

be the best that I can be.

DEPRESSION IS A COMMON AND

SERIOUS MOOD DISORDER THAT

AFFECTS ONE OUT OF FIVE ADULT

OR 19 MILLION PEOPLE IN THE

UNITED STATES AND FOR THESE

PATIENTS THE APPROPRIATE

TREATMENT MAY BE LIFE-SAVING

AND YET HAVE PATIENTS WITH

DEPRESSION WILL FAIL TO RESPOND

TO THE FIRST PRESCRIBED

MEDICATION LEADING THE PATIENT

ON A MEDICATION ODYSSEY OF

TRIAL AND ERROR TREATMENTS THAT

CAN LAST FOR YEARS AND MICHAEL

GENOVESE JOINS US THIS MORNING

TO TALK ABOUT THE LATEST

GENETIC TESTING BREAKTHROUGHS

MEAN FOR THOSE FACED WITH

DEPRESSION AND MENTAL ILLNESS,

GOOD MORNING. GOOD MORNING

CHRIS,

HOW BIG A PROBLEM IS

DEPRESSION TODAY?

IT IS A VERY BIG PROBLEM AND

HE MENTIONED THE NUMBERS AND I

DO NOT THINK THAT VERY MANY

PEOPLE REALIZE IT IS THAT

COMMON AND A SERIOUS DISEASE

BUT IT IS NOT JUST A CASE OF

THE BLUES, IT IS LOW MOOD, THE

INABILITY TO ENJOY ONESELF IT

AFFECTS YOUR CONCENTRATION, IT

CAN AFFECT YOUR ENERGY LEVELS,

AND IN WORST CASE IT CAN END UP

IN DEATH.

NEED TO OPTIMIZE THE WAY WE ARE

TREATING DEPRESSION.

THE GOOD NEWS IS WE HAVE

TECHNOLOGY TO DO THAT.

THAT WAS GOING TO BE MY NEXT

QUESTION, WHAT TREATMENTS ARE

READILY AVAILABLE FOR

DEPRESSION?

THERE ARE A LOT OF

MEDICATIONS OUT THERE THAT CAN

BE HELPFUL IN TREATING

DEPRESSION AND THE KEY IS TO

FIND THE RIGHT MEDICATION FOR

THE RIGHT PERSON AND THIS IS

TRULY PERSONALIZED MEDICINE

WHEN WE USE THE GENE SITE TEST

TO LOOK AT YOUR DNA.

I CAN LOOK AT YOUR DNA AND

DISCERN WHAT MEDICATION IS MORE

LIKELY TO GIVE YOU BENEFIT AND

WHAT MEDICATION IS MORE LIKELY

TO END UP WITH SIDE EFFECTS OR

NOT WORKING. IT IS A CONCRETE

AND TANGIBLE WAY OF GIVING ME

INFORMATION IN ORDER TO HELP

YOU.

YOU MENTIONED SIDE EFFECTS

AND WHAT ARE SOME OF THE SIDE

EFFECTS OF MEDICINES FOR

DEPRESSION?

THE MOST COMMON I HEAR ABOUT

OUR SEDATION, WEIGHT GAIN,

UPSET STOMACH, SEXUAL

DYSFUNCTION AND IT CAN BE

SEVERE ENOUGH IT PREVENTS

PEOPLE FROM BEING ABLE TO TAKE

THE MEDICATIONS SO BY LOOKING

AT WHAT MEDICATION MATCHES UP

WITH YOUR DNA WE HAVE A MUCH

BETTER CHANCE OF GETTING WANT

TO MEDICATION THAT YOU CAN

TOLERATE AND IF YOU CAN

TOLERATE AND STAY ON THE

MEDICATION WE CAN GET YOU

BETTER AND IT IS A GREAT TIME

TO BE A NEUROSCIENCE. WHAT IS

THE GENE THE SITE TEST?

IT IS A TEST VERY EASY TO

OBTAIN IN MY OFFICE AND IT IS A

CHEEK SWAB, WE SEND OFF THE

SAMPLE AND GET THE RESULTS BACK

IN ABOUT 36 HOURS.

IT IS AN EASY TEST TO SHOW TO A

PATIENT AND IT IS A STOPLIGHT

ANALOGY WITH A RED, YELLOW AND

GREEN, AND WE SAY WE WILL FOR

THE MEDICINES IN THE RED, AND

FOCUS ON THOSE IN THE GREEN.

IT BENEFITS PATIENTS WITH A

RATIO OF 2-1. PATIENTS GET

BETTER TWICE AS OFTEN USING

THIS TEST THEM WITHOUT.

WHICH PATIENTS WITH

DEPRESSION ARE CANDIDATES?

EVERYBODY WITH DEPRESSION

SHOULD BE ASKING THEIR DOCTOR

ABOUT THIS TEST AND YOU CAN GO

TO GENE SITE.COM AND GET

INFORMATION ABOUT THE TEST AND

THEN HAVE THE CONVERSATION IN

MEDICINE WE WANT HAVE AS MUCH

INFORMATION AS WE CAN TO HELP

OUR PATIENTS. HAVING

INFORMATION IS POWER AND WE

NEED THAT TO COMBAT THIS

DISEASE. HOW TO USE GENE SITE

TESTING IN YOUR PRACTICE TO

HELP YOUR PATIENTS?

IT HAS TRANSFORMED THE WAY I

PRACTICE IN EVERY PATIENT WHO

COMES TO ME HAS VIRTUALLY BEEN

ON SEVERAL MEDICATIONS, I USE

IT FOR THIS PATIENTS RIGHT AWAY

SO I CAN EFFECTUATE THE BEST

TREATMENT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

DR. MICHAEL GENOVESE THANKS FOR

JOINING US, GREAT INSIGHT INTO

DEPRESSION, THANK YOU.

years now and he has changed

dramatically over these three years. He

always had a desire to improve and to

wanted to be and he worked hard at it

and he has achieved that vision.

When I think of Jaylen, what strikes me?

He has the biggest heart.

He's a very sensitive

a very caring young man.

The more he was able to

to kind of touch base with that part of himself

the better he was at handling himself in situations.

One incident that, you know, comes to mind:

A young man in his class

lost a lot of money.

It fell out of his pocket.

Jaylen happened to be there

and he picked it up and returned it.

And, when we were saying, "Jaylen

wow, that's really great," he said, "What did you

expect me to do?" and the truth is for

Jalen we really didn't expect anything

different because that's the kind of

student he is.

Everybody welcomes you here. You don't

feel like you don't belong here.

Everybody -- everybody -- welcomes you here

All the staff are nice -- very nice people

they take care of you

especially our principal and our assistant

principal and our psychologists.

Like, math is everywhere. Everywhere you go

you see math. There's not one day you don't use

math; you gotta use math every day.

Math is very important.

Quick Hits for CFOs: Vendor Request Process - Duration: 1:59.

Hi, my name is Avery.

With so many random supply requests, it's hard to always find what I need in the usual places.

But, did you know your staff can submit requests for new vendors right in Skyward?

Here's how to get set up.

In the Vendor setup area, start with Configuration.

In Setup Options, check the top option to allow requests for new vendors and require approval.

Enable automatic emails to keep the vendor requester and the approver up to date on the status of a request.

Say you want to allow all department heads to request new vendors.

Go to Product Setup, Skyward Contact Access, and in the "Security Groups" area, select Web Financial Management.

Expand details for the Department Head group and choose User Selection.

Select each person who should be able to request new vendors.

Now it's time to review the security levels.

First, click "Edit Security Levels."

Change the menu path to "Vendors,"

expand Vendor Browse/Profile Tabs,

and check "Request New Vendor."

Choose "Assign Selected" and change the Security Access Level

and the Security Lookup Level to Level 1 or Level 2 depending on approval hierarchy.

Within New Vendor Approvers, you can designate which employees will be able to approve any new vendor requests.

Next to "Approve or deny new vendor requests," change "No" to "Yes."

Once an approver accepts the new vendor request, your employees will be able to request new vendors for approval.

Help your staff shop smarter by setting up New Vendor Requests in Skyward.

Stay tuned for more Quick Hits for CFOs, coming soon.

nanoHUB-U Nanophotonic Modeling L3.22: Unit 3 Summary and Conclusions - Duration: 6:08.

[Slide 1] Hey everyone, welcome to the last lecture of unit 3.

We're going to summarize and conclude what we've learned so far.

[Slide 2] So remember that we started of this unit

on finite difference time domain by kind of explaining how the whole scheme works.

And so, of course we listed Maxwell's equations, but

then we also added some extra terms, you see here.

This JB and segment BB, and of course we said that these are not physical

of course, but these are going to allow us to actually when we generate light in

time domain, and then start to propagate outwords to suppress reflections.

So you can have systems that act they are infinite or

semi-infinite, even though in reality we only have finite computational resources.

So that's very key track, and then in order to get accurate integration of these

systems we use, approach which is actually borrowed from just

ordinary differential equations, solution method called the leapfrog method.

But then, we're doing this on a so-called Yee lattice, and

the Yee lattice allows us to have more accurate computation, and

we could otherwise in 1D, 2D or 3D.

[Slide 3] And so, then in order to actually use this method of course,

we could try to directly write down the equations and then, write the solver, but

luckily that work has been done for you and there are several solvers out there and

the one we focused on the most is called MEEP.

And so, MEEP is available for the downloads through this website, or

you could actually run it as a tool without any installation of software and

only using a free account on nanoHUB, using this link, NanoHub.org/tools/meep.

And so, this allows you to do very powerful Finite Difference Time Domain

solutions, and it has a lot of special features.

We said we can do arbitrary dimensionality and boundary conditions,

which by itself is very significant.

We can do perfectly matched layers, which I mentioned earlier, do sub pixel

averaging which gives us greater accuracy than we would have otherwise.

We can do symmetry, which can reduce the size of our cells and also speed up our

calculations, and it's fully programmable, because we have actually three interfaces.

We have the graphical user interface, and

we have scheme interface as well as the C/C++ interface.

So we can use whichever approach we want, and is tremendously flexible for all.

[Slide 4] So, just to briefly recap what is the value of subpixel averaging,

so what we said is using a leap frog method, we should have scaling of

the error as a function of the resolution to go is like 1 over resolution squared.

But in practice, some methods actually only scale

like 1 over the resolution in terms their error.

And so, that's actually a big problem, because that means we have to use a lot

more computational resources than should be necessary.

And that all comes from basically the way that we are defining dielectric

when you have curved surfaces.

So you basically have this so called stair stepping effect.

In order to get rid of the stair stepping, then we use this subpixel averaging

which is motivated by the physical content of Maxwell's equations.

And then that allows us to recover this one over resolution squared behavior,

which you can see here.

And this was originally proposed about a decade ago.

[Slide 5] And then we showed that this kind of approach can be applied to a broad range

of problems.

This just one of many examples that we covered in this unit.

Where we have silver nanoparticles used in photovoltaic light trapping,

and you can see that basically, they enhance the field by orders of magnitude,

compared to control without the silver nanoparticles.

And this is the front texture that you can see up here,

kind of like the top-down view.

And you can see that the overall absorption curve looks like this.

And you can also quantify what is the parasitic loss?

And it is non-trivial, but it's small enough, so

that you can potentially get relatively high short-circuit currents

in Silicon thin films, which are almost comparable to what you'd get in say

multi-crystalline wafer silicon, but of course using much less material.

[Slide 6] And then we also discussed another potential application,

which is to increase light trapping in perovskite silicon tandem cells.

So this is going one step beyond just a single crystalline silicon,

but actually including two different material layers.

And of course the rationale for that is to get even higher efficiency and

higher performance.

And so here actually we have both thin film crystalline silicon and

perovskite integrated into a single structure.

And then we can actually directly capture what kind of absorption is happening, and

then what parasitic losses including this Spiro-OMeTAD,

some reflection, and then the couple of other loss mechanisms

which are relatively small like the Indium Tin Oxide.

And then actually gives us a very clear indication of

the potential efficiency perhaps could be up to 25% to 28% for

these tandem cells, which is pretty significant.

And so, in conclusion, we found that finite difference trying to mean has

a tremendous amount of flexibility and applies to a very broad range of problems.

In the next unit, we'll explore some multi physics challenges

as well as some finite element methods to help solve them.

[ENG SUB] MONSTA X-RAY EP. 6 - PART 2 - Duration: 25:55.

[Very disappointed]

[The youngest speaks the truth] Then why wouldn't they go well together?

[They quarrel over petty things]

[Social type_Kihyun] - He's social type. - Social type?

It's like he's socializing with people with his body,

[Wow] and with his emotions.

[Being social with his actions] He shows with action.

- So he hugs others. - I do?

[Surprised][I hug others?] - Physical contact... - It's natural.

Is everyone else a citizen?

[Pit-a-pat] I like the person next to me.

[He even hugged the member of other team]

[He got close to others with natural physical contact] So cute.

[Social type] It's something that young people should have.

- Social skill. - Yes.

[Feeling proud] It's his strength.

Social person is likely to lose his temper.

- There's that. - Losing temper type.

[Oh] During the mafia game in the first episode...

[Sensitive Kihyun, being sensitive started then] Sit down.

Who would do that?

- Do something with your clothes. - Don't you talk to me about my clothes.

[During the game of Yut in episode 3] - Hey. - Yes.

[Hey] - Don't touch it. - Are you happy? - I'm sorry.

- Do you feel sense of duty? - Of course.

[Embarrassed] But even if he loses his temper,

[It doesn't last long] Does it last long? It doesn't.

- That's right. - He doesn't have grudges.

[He has something to say] That's why he's good at

[Kihyun doesn't hold grudges] cooperating with anyone.

That makes people around him irritated.

- It irritates you? - Because he loses temper.

If he hold grudges, we can talk about it and let it go, but he just pours it out.

[He's like an outcast] It's really sneaky.

[I agree]

[It's...] When I do something,

I have my own standards.

When it goes out of my standard, I get stressed out.

I have to wipe things when something's spilled.

That's why I call him a pervert.

[Perplexed]

When he wipes things and when he nitpicks,

[He feels great joy doing house chores] he feels great joy.

I feel comfortable when I do that.

[Agree] If he gets married, the wife will be very happy.

[What?] How happy would his wife be?

- No way. - No?

[Minhyuk know how his wife would feel] He would say something to his wife about

[Sensitive again] - I'd do it. - Stop there.

[He has something say] There's this. The problem is that

[Angry] he could've just cleaned it, but he tested me for three days.

[He's driven to a corner] That's right. That's what I'm saying.

[Goosebumps] Even if we clean it after three days,

he still talks about it and feels great joy at the fact that he's talking about it. And he cleans.

[Talk, feel great joy, starts cleaning] He starts cleaning then.

- And then he says something after he's done. - He emphasizes what kind of favor he's done.

That's the "pervert" part of him.

[Speaking carefully] I would say that this is

how much we can handle. No more.

[Hyungwon...] - I think it's just that. - Sounds like a professional.

As he said, it's OK if you keep within bounds.

[Speaking of facts] You should know the limit.

[Oh...] That's right. You should know the limit.

But he's not doing it to boast around or make himself look good.

[It's for the team] It's for our team to win.

- That's right. - It creates synergy in the team.

[It's because he cares about the members] I'm saying that his actions are out of good heart.

He won't do it if he doesn't care about you.

[Thank you, brother Dongchul] He emphasizes all his hard work.

[Kihyun is like a nitpicking father for members] - But what if he doesn't do that? - He's like a father.

He could also be a father.

[Hyungwon's turn] Hyungwon.

[Joan of Arc type_Hyungwon] - You're Joan of Arc type. - Me?

[Joan of Arc type. He's diligent in everything] Joan of Arc type is diligent in everything.

[Feeling guilty] We could say that.

Being diligent is a good role model.

[Huh? Huh?] I'm saying that he has a spirit.

[Leader gives a meaningful smile]

- The fact that he has guts... - Guts...

[Kihyun attacks back] Isn't it weird even for you?

Well, I have guts for something.

[Hyungwon is diligent?] For the first time, I'm questioning your opinion.

There are parts to which he has guts.

[Smacking his lips]

[I.M laughs] But this...

[He laughs] Why?

[Stop] - Why? - Let's take some time off.

[They disagree]

[Changkyun says, "Calm down everyone"] Listen up.

- Listen up. - Be quiet.

[Let's sit down first] - Listen to me. - Let's sit down.

- Go on. - Why are you laughing at me?

It might be coincidence, but right at that moment, Jooheon smacked his lips very loudly.

[Smacking his lips]

[What a coincidence] - I was laughing at that. - Excuse me.

[He doesn't remember] I didn't realize that I did that.

[It's unfair] But then everyone started laughing.

- Sorry. - This is fun.

Smack... No matter.

[Smack, smack] - Yeah, like that. - Funny.

[His psychology on kimchi special] Hyungwon was also the main on episode 2.

I'll tell you why.

[First daughter-in-law role] - You were a daughter-in-law? - Yeah.

- You didn't like it at first? - No. - Right?

- But what did you do after? - I just did my work.

[He worked hard regardless] - Great. - You took everything on.

[MONSTA X first daughter-in-law] As if the real first daughter-in-law.

[Diligent] That's how much gut you had.

And on episode 5 daycare center,

[Clip from episode 5] one toddler was shy of strangers.

You comforted him well and kept at the job.

[Hyungwon did his best] That really touched the viewers.

- So in that way... - Yeah, the baby got comfy.

- How was it then? - Very interesting.

Because he cried so much, but slept in Hyungwon's arms.

[Quiet only in Hyungwon's arms] But cried without him.

- Maybe because of his looks. - That could be.

[Looks work best at daycare?] - Maybe so. - Yeah.

[Jooheon's turn] [Anxious] - Jooheon. - Jooheon.

[Spark type?] Jooheon has a spark type personality.

[Jooheon (24) the Pikachu] - Spark? - Spark. - Bang, bang.

- That describes him well. - Yeah, right? - Yeah.

- But he's a rapper. - Right.

- What if a spark type is a rapper? - There'd be synergy.

[Perfect] It'd be perfect, he's the only one.

[Only Pikachu on the team] He's born to be a rapper.

Since he has so much energy, whatever he does with you,

[Like a charger] - there'd be more energy. - Yeah.

[MONSTA X energizer] Like an igniting equipment.

[I love this guy] You can consider him like that.

- He has charming eyes. - Yeah.

[Puhahahaha] Why do you laugh?

[Time out] - Why laugh? - Hang on, why laugh?

[Sorry, such charming eyes] - Why laugh? - You're mean. Who laughed?

[Kihyun's like the police] - Hey there. - Who said puhaha?

That sounded like a spray.

- A spray? It could be. - Okay.

I saw your episode 2-3 kimchi special.

[Jooheon played the dog] You had a great role.

- The dog. - Yeah, he played the dog.

But wasn't he charming as one?

[Much like a dog] He worked so hard.

He spiced it up with comedy.

[Hehe] - It was fun. - These stuff.

[Role play for confidence and therapy] This boosts your confidence

and helps with psychotherapy.

You started it out small,

but you felt better and started to enjoy the role.

- Such a personality... - But?

[Personality with hard feelings] He hold grudges.

[Joy vs. crestfallen] I was going to say that.

[Jooheon's solution] So stand up to call time out.

[Breaks to relieve stress] This would do you good.

[That's right] Letting it out helps you get along.

- That would help you pronto. - Yeah, so it can be fast.

[Jooheon the time out guy] - We'll hear lots of it. - Great personality.

Hang on, this is unpleasant.

- Third daughter-in-law. - Time out. - What? - Why touch his butt?

[We cheer for Jooheon and his time outs]

[Youngest I.M's psychology analysis] I.M has cute looks.

He also has a baby face, right?

- Yeah. - I have a question.

[Just joking] - Are you being ironic? - The opposite?

[What personality is young-looking I.M?]

[Most flexible personality] Though youngest, he's the most flexible.

- Simply put, he's good to change. - That's right.

[Maximum curiosity] He's very curious about stuff.

- Very curious about stuff. - He asks, "What's this?"

He's also ambitious. So he wants to do many stuff.

[22 year-old who wants to do lots]

- You were the mafia on episode 1? - Yeah.

- Did you like that or no? - I liked it. - He loved it.

[I.M likes special roles] It's fun since mafia is a special role.

Yeah, that's quite right.

[I.M seeks pleasure] His top priority is pleasure.

"I'm chosen as mafia".

[Clip from episode 1 mafia game] I'm the mafia.

[Exciting nighttime dance]

[His thrilling special mission]

[Extreme pleasure?]

[He was the icing of their dance]

[I can't help being curious] - I have a question. - Go ahead.

[Feeling vs. thinking] Between feeling and thinking types,

[How about me?] what type am I closer to?

I don't know myself lots of times.

[Cute] When my mom gets angry,

[Sensitive artist mother] she lets our her emotions.

- But my dad is very logical. - But your dad...

[A thinking type father] He's logical guy who works in science.

Maybe due to that... Am I a mix of my parents?

- A mix! - Psychology has two traits.

[Psychology is innate and acquired] It can be born with it,

but also acquired later. Our brain?

[The mom decides the baby's brains] You get your brains for your mom.

[So interesting] Really?

- I've never heard that. - And you acquire your dad's brains.

[You acquire your dad's brains later] - You're born with it? - Yeah.

[Similar traits of both parents] So you mix the two up.

That's how you take after your mom and dad.

[In psychology terms] We call that inductive effect.

[For example] Whose mom has a stronger personality?

- Whose dad is stronger? - I don't really get how you...

- Who wins the fight? - Mom.

- Then your mom is stronger. - Mom.

[Inductive effect] Then your mom influences you more.

[More of your stronger parent] So you're more like her.

You take after your stronger parent. That's what inductive effect is.

[In the case of I.M] It's not important who you take after,

[Know that you have them both] but to know that you're both.

[That's important] It's a good thing to know.

[Joan of Arc with both sides] Wonho is a Joan of Arc personality.

He's emotional and feminine,

[Feeling and thinking] but with brilliant intellect.

These types are often designers.

[MONSTA X fashionista Wonho] - He dresses well. - Great fashion.

[Wonho designed the team jackets] Even our padding jackets.

- You designed them? - Yeah.

[Excellent in redoing his clothes] He designed his leather jacket.

Remember episode 5 daycare center?

[Wonho played at their level] You were sensitive to the kids.

[Kids loved him for his sensitive ways]

Seeing him play with the kids,

[Wonho would love to volunteer] he has interest in volunteer work.

[Wonho makes time to volunteer] He does volunteer work even now.

[It stables your mentality] Volunteer work helps your ways.

And this therapy effect is called

[Therapy in helping others] Mother Teresa effect.

[Mental, physical, social change] It can stable your psychology.

[A way to boost your self-esteem] Mother Teresa effect helps you

to boost your self-esteem. That's the effect it has.

So you wanted to do more for the kids.

It also showed how you wanted to be cared for as well.

That you wanted a hug. I sensed that you were lonely.

[Wonho was lonely without knowing] So I observed that episode.

[To the kids] You could have seen you in the kids.

I suddenly feel weird.

- Like my heart hurts. - Why? - I don't know.

[A surge of sadness] - Strange. - Why? - I don't know.

[Everyone's startled at his tears] Why do you tear up?

I suddenly feel an heartache.

[His feelings seem to explode] - Why? - I don't know.

- Oh no. - What is this?

- Do you have any tissue? - Give him tissue.

What's wrong?

[Wonho didn't have the time to look back on himself]

Here.

I think his self-esteem had fallen.

[Members think of Wonho's tears]

[Idols face big stress at a young age] Because you're an idol,

you want to take care of yourself, but you're stressed and tired.

[Gift-giving effect] Helping out those less fortunate

[Helping others to relieve stress] brings about gift-giving effect.

Comforting others with words can also bring the same effect.

[Talk and help each other] So considering that,

I bet it'd be great to bring you together.

[After finding more about each other]

[MONSTA X's last dinner to enjoy the cold winter night]

- The last slate. - Last slate.

- 1, 2, 3. - This ended so quickly.

[Heartfelt mood] This feels great and heartwarming.

[Eating comes first] [Barbecue party on a special day!]

[Taken by the food] That looks really good.

[Whining Minhyuk] When does it get done?

[Mom Kihyun] - Wait. - Maybe in 15 seconds.

[Grilled golden brown] Looks tasty.

[Yum]

[They gulp it down]

[Q. Most fun shoot?] What shoot was the most fun?

The kids, kids.

[New side to Wonho's at daycare] I didn't expect for Wonho

to be so good with the kids.

[New side to Wonho] - At the daycare... - A new side to him?

Yeah, another side of Wonho. I don't like kids that much,

[Shownu became fond of the kids] but I got attached in that short time.

Though they left for home.

It was really fun. I remember the kids the most.

When you have regrets, you start to feel apologetic.

[Minhyuk feels sorry as much as regrets] When I monitor our work,

I think of how I should of done.

Or how I should of helped you out and talk a certain way.

[Regrets after his monitor] I felt sorry thinking afterwards.

I didn't feel too well during our shoot with BTOB.

[Minhyuk felt sick on crazy special] So I wasn't my usual self.

- On that episode... - I didn't know.

- You did well. - Thank goodness.

[Q. MONSTA X's wish?]

- Tell me. - Wonho, how about you?

Yeah, let's hear him out.

[Weight training for body building] I want to be a body builder.

[He sure fooled them] - That sounded sincere. - He surprised me.

[Waist muscles] - I'm not lying. - You are.

[Wonho's dream, Starship producer] To be our company producer.

- Not for our team? - Of our company? - Yeah.

[Wonho worked on album "Steal Your Heart"] I know MONSTA X very well.

So I can write our songs.

[Wonho wants to work on diverse music] Even if I don't, I want to do more.

So I can work on various music. Our company has many singers.

- Awesome. - I hope they sing my song.

[Q. MONSTA X's tears?] - Changkyun tears up often. - What?

[What are you saying?] I haven't seen him cry after our show.

[Hyungwon's frequent show of tears] - I saw Hyungwon cry. - When?

[Pretending he doesn't know] - Yeah, I saw him. - Watching "Produce 101".

[Burst of emotion] The show with 101 trainees make him cry.

[Like a tear vending machine] I almost cried watching Hyungwon.

[Very embarrassed] And "Goblin" episode 2. He cries often.

[Taking others down with him] Changkyun cried at the concert!

[Acting cool] - Yeah. - We all cried.

[Taking others down 2] - Not Shownu. - Wonho sobbed at the concert. - Yeah.

- What? When? - You sobbed like this.

"My heart..."

[Youngest trying to be funny] "Missing you".

[I'll hold back] - Don't talk about me. - Okay.

None of our albums have a "Thanks To" track.

[Kihyun wishes to thank others] I hope we do next time.

It's also meaningful to thank in words,

[He wants to express thank you] but to include it in our album

so as to include their album would really make them glad.

- That's a lifetime gift. - Yeah. - That's right.

So I really want to do that.

During my time alone...

[He wrote letters for members] - Let me give the letters now. - Great.

[Great timing] Nice timing!

[Expectant] I'm eager for this.

- Is it handwritten? - Yeah.

[Wow] I'm touched by that.

[Wonho reads the letter]

[Touched] He wrote, "To our Wonho".

[No, no] - Wonto. - Yeah? - Get it together.

[They read Jooheon's handwritten letters]

[Deeply moved]

[Haha]

[Shownu's touched by this phrase] Jooheon wrote pretty words.

But I like this one. "Let's help and love in the New Year".

[Hehe] I like the phrase after "To".

"To my friend and proud Minhyuk".

[Jealous] - Why is mine so short? - He loves me more.

Mine is written like this. Not only in pencil.

[Red heart decor] He drew hearts with red pen.

Why don't I have only 2 hearts?

- I only have one. - I have 3.

- Hey, just read. - Who has "Love you" at the end?

[Battle of who has more hearts] - Hang on. - He loves me.

We're saying how many when he's quietly checking his.

[Gazing at the letter] - Do you have any? - Yeah, 2 hearts.

[Hard to beat his 6] - I have 3. - Mine has 6. - Really?

[Dear Jooheon, dear Shownu] Jooheon, that's so many.

[Feeling down] I wrote Shownu's letter first.

[MC instincts] Let's all say, "Thanks Jooheon".

[Embarrassed] - What? No! - Jooheon, thanks!"

[Feeling great] [He can't help but smile]

[Wonho got Jooheon a gift] I have a gift.

During my time alone,

[My birthday gift?] I got Changkyun's birthday gift and others.

My nickname is bunny. So this is to remember me by.

- Did you buy a bunny doll? - Yeah.

[What?] - Really? - Yeah. - He's startled.

- For real? - Changkyun's birthday gift.

[I.M's big gift] Here.

- Changkyun wears striped sweatpants. - Yeah.

[A great designer gift] So I got him a striped hoodie.

Pretty.

He got this bunny fur on it so I can remember him.

And this is for our members and staff.

[Wonho even got gifts for the staff] What is it?

[Hunting bunnies style] - What is it? - It's bunny and fox fur.

My nickname is bunny, so I bought them bunny dolls.

Don't forget me.

It was fun shooting our show.

Writers and camera directors, thank you everyone.

[A video letter for the staff]

[Wonho got gifts for every staff member]

Please remember me. Don't forget MONSTA X.

[Wonho gave touching gifts] They'll remember for sure.

[This time] - Where are you going? - Yeah, where?

- A screen? - What is that?

[Surprise gift from the staff] - I guess it's a movie. - No?

- I swear. - I swear.

MONSTA X is aware of the rights for "MONSTA X-RAY".

[MONSTA X-RAY was launched giving up their rights]

You have to cringe up.

[His looks worked hard since episode 1]

This is natural hair, even here.

[Free spirit I.M] - I'm blond. - I didn't know that aired.

[Charisma that flies on stage]

[Rapper Jooheon]

[And off stage as Lee Jooheon]

Oh, please.

[Argh]

Cute.

[MONSTA X cutie pie, Jooheon]

[Hi, Hyungwon's X-RAY?]

[Hehe] Then now...

That's anchovy.

[Anchovy-like Hyungwon] No need to go elsewhere, use me!

- What? - Use me.

Shoot his shaking leg.

[Hahahaha]

- That's serious shaking. - That made me laugh before.

[Being sensitive is my power] My face is my attire. - Don't, or it'll start.

- Kihyun worked hard. - Go back in.

[Sensitive Kihyun] - Is that special care? - He couldn't catch.

[Like Yu Jae Seok]

[As if a saucy sister-in-law]

[MONSTA X-RAY'S official MC Minhyuk]

[Best at eating] So many clips of you eating.

[Best of laughs]

[Hahahaha] [Laughing and eating Wonho]

- The face you make for laughs. - Thank you.

[And Shownu the terminator] Is he coming?

[Unexpected hero of the clip] Like the main star.

[Obnoxious at times]

- I got taller! - Yikes.

[Passionate at other times]

[Shownu with sloppy charm] I find Shownu the funniest.

[Embarrassed] Why did I do that?

[First broadcast on January 12] It hasn't been long.

[7 guys with good looks enter]

[They were this handsome]

[But 7 cabbage bugs on MONSTA X-RAY] He's terrible at it.

[Must go bonkers] 3, 2, 1.

[Master of reactions]

[The new crazy guys] Hi, Cleopatra.

The world's best potato chips!

[Even a love story]

Why is it so funny?

If asked, "What do you want to do?" I said, "Us? To debut. You?"

[They had dreamed of debut] "Me to, to debut".

[Working hard for bigger dreams] This time, dream of 1st place?

- I really want to be 1st place. - Me too.

[As we are now]

[Let's have each other's backs]

[Sometimes friends]

[Sometimes as family]

[Bye, 7 cabbage bugs! Show us how great you are!]

- What? That was weird. - Is that the end?

[Last straightforward remark] How can you say that's awesome?

[Heartwarming] - Thank you. - That kept me warm.

[They forgot to feel chilly] I didn't feel cold, but now I do.

- Thank you. - Thank you. - They're the best.

[Heartfelt and light ending] Rather than sad, it feels light-hearted.

- Very heartwarming. - Yeah.

- I learned a lot on "MONSTA X-RAY". - Yeah.

I'm grateful that we got to spend time together.

To be more on your radar,

MONSTA X will work harder. Thank you.

[MONSTA X-RAY will cheer for MONSTA X]

We will show everything.

"MONSTA X-RAY!"

[Goodbye] This has been MONSTA X.

Thank you.

[Thanks for watching "MONSTA X-RAY"]

Copy of Tegrity: Maximize & Minimize Pods - Duration: 1:04.

This video will demonstrate maximizing pods, and getting out of the maximization.

We have a recording here, and while I'm watching I'm

having a hard time reading what is on the screen

I'll want to maximize the screen to view it clearly.

To do this I'll go to the icon on the upper right corner of the pod.

As I mouse over the icon 'Maximize' will appear.

I'll then click this icon.

And now you have the maximized screen.

To return to our original settings, hit escape on the keyboard

And this will return you to back to the minimized pod

I'll repeat this once more

Mouse over the icon on the upper right hand corner

Click on the icon

To exit hit escape on your keyboard

And this returns you to your original settings

And that's maximizing and minimizing pods.

educational needs and that's where our

focus started in the very beginning with

Nuria since then he has adapted to it

and has come beautifully a long way and

now we can really really focus on his
