Trump's Wall PAID FOR – You Won't Believe Who's Doing It…

Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) shocked everyone on Tuesday when he introduced a bill calling

for the $14 billion that was seized from cartel drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman to

be used to pay for the President's border wall between the U.S. and Mexico.

"Fourteen billion dollars will go a long way toward building a wall that will keep

Americans safe and hinder the illegal flow of drugs, weapons, and individuals across

our southern border," Cruz said in a statement.

"Ensuring the safety and security of Texans is one of my top priorities."

He added that leveraging criminally forfeited assets from El Chapo and other Mexican cartel

members and drug dealers can "offset the wall's cost and make meaningful progress

toward achieving President Trump's stated border security objectives."

Cruz's bill is called the Ensuring Lawful Collection of Hidden Assets to Provide Order

(EL CHAPO) Act, and it just might work!

"The U.S.

Government is currently seeking the criminal forfeiture of more than $14 billion in drug

proceeds and illicit profits from El Chapo, the former leader of the Sinaloa drug cartel

who was recently extradited to the U.S. to face criminal prosecution for numerous alleged

drug-related crimes, including conspiracy to commit murder and money laundering,"

Cruz stated.

Center Point residents call for action after recent violent crimes - Duration: 1:25.

RESIDENTS ARE SAYING ENOUGH IS

ENOUGH AFTER A STRING OF CRIMES

IN THE CITY.

WVTM 13'S MARY O'CONNELL SPOKE

TO RESIDENTS WHO WANT TO SEE

SOME ACTION, AND CITY LEADERS ON

WHAT THEY'RE DOING CURB CRIME.

>> WHEN I MOW MY GRASS, I HAVE

TO CARRY A GUN.

MARY: DON HALSEY DOESN'T FEEL

SAFE IN HIS OWN FRONT YARD.

DON HALSEY: THERE ISN'T A NIGHT

THAT GOES BY THAT WE DON'T HAVE

GUNSHOTS WITHIN A COUPLE BLOCKS

OF HERE.

MARY: HALSEY AND OTHER RESIDENTS

SAY CRIME HAS OVERRUN THEIR

CITY, AND THEY'VE LOOKING TO

CITY HALL FOR ACTION.

TOM HENDERSON: OUR GOAL WOULD BE

TO HAVE NO CRIME, PERIOD.

BUT THAT'S NOT REALISTIC FOR ANY

CITY.

MARY: MAYOR TOM HENDERSON SAYS

HE'S TAKING THE CONCERNS

SERIOUSLY AND DOING SOMETHING

ABOUT IT.

FIRST, THE CITY WILL INSTALL NEW

SURVEILLANCE CAMERAS AND ASK

JEFFERSON COUNTY FOR TWO MORE

DEPUTIES TO PATROL CENTER POINT.

THE CITY IS ALSO STARTING A

DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE PROGRAM TO

ANALYZE CRIME AND OFFER

SOLUTIONS.

>> WE'RE LOOKING FOR WAYS TO

POSSIBLY HELP CURTAIL THAT IN

THE FUTURE, BUT BEING REALISTIC,

WE DON'T, YOU KNOW YOU NEVER

, KNOW WHEN SOMEBODY'S GOING TO

COMMIT A CRIME.

>> IT TOOK A TRAGEDY OF THREE

SHOOTINGS IN TWO WEEKS, INJURING

A LOT OF INNOCENT PEOPLE, BEFORE

THEY ACTED.

THEY SHOULD HAVE ACTED A LONG

TIME BEFORE THIS.

MARY: WHILE SOME RESIDENTS SAY

SOLUTIONS TO CRIME IN CENTER

POINT ARE TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE,

BOTH CITY LEADERS AND RESIDENTS

DO AGREE THAT PEOPLE NEED TO

BE VIGILANT TO PROTECT THE CITY

THEY LOVE.

IN CENTER POINT, MARY O'CONNELL,
