For the couplet, remember, it's ascending,

so you need to mentally prepare for this to get harder as you go.

You're trying to get the squats and the burpees done in as little time as possible.

This is to leave yourself some time to recover and clean,

but also because that couplet's worth a lot.

It's scored separately, and it's the tiebreak

in the event that another athlete hits the same lift as you.

That said, devastating yourself on the couplet is not smart.

You don't want to be forced to take a ton of recovery time,

and ideally, you're starting your first clean within a minute of finishing the couplet.

In your warm-up, you want to work up to your opening lift,

but remember, that weight is going to feel a lot heavier after the couplet

than it did in your warm-up,

so you want to choose an opening weight that you're very very confident you can hit.

If you get multiple attempts on the cleans,

it is much smarter to compress your rest

and take smaller jumps in weight

than it is to take longer breaks and go for larger jumps in weight .

I love this workout because it perfectly expresses and tests

one of CrossFit's core tenets, which is being balanced across capacities.

This means there should be a little something fun in there for everyone.

Japan immediately reacted to President Moon's Independence Movement Day speech.

During a regular press briefing Thursday, Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary, Yoshihide

Suga said his government had lodged an official complaint to South Korea... over the South

Korean leader's remarks that Tokyo is in no position to declare the issue of wartime sex

slavery settled.

"What President Moon said is against the Japan-South Korea agreement; it is totally not acceptable

and extremely regrettable.

We immediately lodged a complaint with South Korean government through diplomatic routes."

The agreement was struck between the former Park Geun-hye administration and the Japanese

government in December 2015... over Japan's sexual enslavement of Korean women leading

up to and during World War II.

Amid controversy over the pact in South Korea, President Moon Jae-in came into office following

the impeachment of his predecessor... declaring the deal "flawed" as it failed to meet victims'

needs and called for more steps.
